The IDF
COGAT unit tweeted:
Currently, the content of 490 trucks is waiting to be picked up from the Gazan side of Kerem Shalom. 480 of these trucks are aid belonging to the UN.
While international organizations and other NGOs pick up the aid from Kerem Shalom, we urge the
@UN to do the same and collect the aid waiting.
We are here to facilitate coordinations and other measures to assist the UN with upscaling their aid collection abilities.
This has been happening for months - hundreds of trucks full of aid are left rotting because UNRWA claims it is unsafe to retrieve them. Meanwhile, other aid organizations and the private sector have no problem going to Kerem Shalom and picking up food and medical aid to be delivered to Gazans in need.
Does the UN have higher standards for safety than the other NGOs? Or does the UN not care about alleged starvation of Gazans?
Because if the UN would deliver all the goods earmarked for them in Gaza, it would make a difference to tens of thousands of people.
It is bad enough to claim that Israel is employing a policy of deliberate starvation. It is much, much worse to make that claim while having the power to do something about it - and refusing.
Either the UN doesn't really believe that Gazans are starving, or they place a higher priority on demonizing Israel then they do on helping "starving" Gazans. If it is the latter, then you must say the UN is complicit in starving Gaza, according to its own statements.
