Another Wake-Up Call for America's Jews
REVIEW: 'The Jews and the Left' by Batya Ungar-Sargon

This book gathers momentum and goes into high gear in its final sections leading up to and including the October 7 "wake-up call" to Jews and through them to the rest of America. Concentrating on the universities, the media, and sectors of the American public that she knows best, Ungar-Sargon shows how the Left's worldview, once based on right versus wrong, was replaced by the ideology of oppressor and oppressed. "That is the source of twenty-first century leftist anti-Semitism." The many strands of anticapitalist, anticolonialist, Orientalist, and other critiques of America come together in common opposition to Jews, now mostly in Israel. As she exposes the ideologies and promoters of the anti-Jewish alliance, the author punctuates her rebuttal with frustrated cries of "totally false" and "They are simply wrong." Having shown why American Jews became Democrats in the first place, and how they were then betrayed by former allies, she invites her fellow Jews to speak out as she has done, "not as Republicans" but as proud Americans.

It is heartening to read this rally against "a uniquely left-wing form of anti-Jewish hate and violence that has all but replaced right-wing antisemitism in America," but Ungar-Sargon's history is flawed and her awakening is late. Here is Commentary critic Robert Warshow writing in 1947 on America in the 1930s, "when virtually all intellectual vitality was derived in one way or another from the Communist party. If you were not somewhere within the party's wide orbit, then you were likely to be in the opposition, which meant that much of your thought and energy had to be devoted to maintaining yourself in opposition." The Communist Party was by then already in full anti-Zionist mode, Stalin having supported the Mufti's jihad in Mandatory Palestine as the start of the Arab revolution.

Warshow was writing not about the small percentage of Jews in the party but about his entire intellectual cohort. Some of the Jewish Left felt free to support Roosevelt in the late 1930s only because the Soviets had authorized the formation of the Popular Front that encouraged the cooperation with liberals it had previously prohibited. The communist "ideal" penetrated this country much deeper than fascism and for long after the threat of fascism fell away as its excuse for condoning its repressions and failures.

By the late 1960s and early '70s, some of Warshow's liberals were ready to mock their former subservience. In the American Scholar, Lionel Abel, another of the New York intellectuals, described their voluntary submission to Leftist thought control:
One must in no case do anything that might be harmful to the Left. What if the projected action seems a good one? Then one must be all the more careful. One must consider every possible consequence, even the most remote. Many actions that at first might seem beneficent when looked at more closely turned out to involve a possible damage to the Left. What Left? Which Left? Never mind. And do not ask. Indeed there is need not to ask, for the very fact that we don't know what the Left is today means that whatever it be, its situation is precarious.

When Irving Kristol, speaking for that generation, defined the neo-conservative as a liberal who was mugged by reality, that "reality" took the form of the anti-Zionist Left.

This is just to say that there have been earlier important wake-up calls in the American history of Jews and the Left, and the excommunication of "the Right" was used to keep them in line. That Jews among other Americans do not know this history makes it so much sweeter to keep pulling that football out from under them.

Ungar-Sargon's warning comes after the red diaper babies of the 1960s had metastasized into legions of progressives and merged with Islamists, fueled by more overseas funders, hackers, and influencers than the old communists ever dreamed of. Her explanation for the relation of Jews and the Left is partial at best, but her warning may still be timely. She insists that Jews under assault have to lead the way in speaking the truth: "To hate Jews is to hate America. We are an inextricable part of this nation." This is a fight that all Americans must win.
Why are British MPs so insanely obsessed with Israel?
I can only imagine how bizarre it must be for the people of North Herefordshire, who thought they were electing a Green MP to talk about nature reserves and pollution, to hear Ellie Chowns mention Israel and Gaza a combined 50 times and North Herefordshire just 37 times. Astonishingly, she has mentioned Israeli settlements in the West Bank more times than the pollution of the River Wye – a key local issue that she promised to make her top priority if elected.

The frequency with which these MPs have used their platforms in the Commons to pontificate Israel has been dizzying – and their use of parliamentary procedure has been shameless. In just the past few weeks, there has been a backbench business debate on trade with Israeli settlements and a Westminster Hall debate about Israeli influence on British politics.

In the Westminster Hall debate, we had the extraordinary sight of multiple MPs who have been on Qatari-funded trips to Qatar complain about other MPs going on trips to Israel, even though these were funded by British donors to British organisations, such as through Conservative Friends of Israel or Labour Friends of Israel.

To be clear, it is entirely justifiable for parliamentarians to go on state-funded trips, provided they are declared and the MPs go with open eyes. But as John Lamont noted in his brave and powerful contribution to that debate, those MPs were not calling for a review of lobbying regulations or foreign-sponsored trips. They were singling out one country. I will happily leave it to the reader to guess why they were so eager to single out this particular country.

Fortunately, there are many brave MPs who have stood up to all this in parliament. But the fight is extraordinarily one-sided. For even the most ardently pro-Israel MPs, this issue will just be one of many they care about. For some, their motivation for speaking out may be more driven by their principled belief that some balance is needed, rather than from a deeply held, organic desire to talk about Israel. Contrast this with the multiple MPs on the other side, for whom this is what they got into politics for and what gets them out of bed every morning. It’s the same on Britain’s streets. While many view the anti-Israel hate marches with contempt and horror, a small, angry and laser-focussed minority have been able to dominate public discourse.

Needless to say, none of this actually contributes to improving the situation for ordinary Palestinians, or for anyone else in the Middle East. As Hamish Falconer, the Middle East minister, admitted, ‘An inevitable consequence of the actions announced from this despatch box is that the warmth of my relationship with my counterparts in Israel has indeed suffered’. Combined with the UK’s unconditional recognition of a Palestinian state, we have thrown away any leverage we had with the Israeli government and much of the influence we had over the Palestinian Authority. And we have done this merely to indulge a mob who do little more than make this a nastier, unfriendlier country for our small Jewish community – and indeed the rest of us.
Report: Israel suspects foul play after third Israir plane damaged at Luton Airport in under a year
Israeli aviation officials suspect foul play in an incident at London Luton Airport last week, when an Israir plane was damaged by the aircraft tug while it was being towed ahead of takeoff, Channel 12 reports.

According to the report, Israel suspects the damage was caused maliciously, with “nationalistic” intent, and is in contact with the relevant authorities in England to determine whether that is indeed the case.

Israir previously said it was the third instance of its planes being damaged at the London airport within less than a year, further increasing suspicion that it was not accidental.

The incident on Thursday evening left approximately 300 people waiting aboard the Israir plane as it sat on the tarmac for several hours.

The passengers had no air conditioning for part of the time, leading to “some medical incidents,” a passenger recounted after.

Israir blamed Luton for the three instances of damage, saying that “to our knowledge, no orderly investigation has been carried out by the airport’s management into these incidents.”
'Favorite Jewish uncle' and the limits of learning from Nazism
Few US Senate primaries this year carry greater implications for the Democratic Party's future than Michigan's August 4 contest. One of the race's leading candidates is Abdul El-Sayed, whose positions and endorsements place him squarely within the antizionist movement.

To many Americans, the fact that El-Sayed has affectionately referred to Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders as his "favorite Jewish uncle" would seem to settle any suggestion that his antizionism reflects anti-Jewish bigotry. El-Sayed plainly does not dislike Jews categorically. He admires one of the country's most prominent Jewish politicians and embraces him in explicitly Jewish terms.

That apparent exoneration reveals something important about how modern Western societies learned to recognize the villainization of Jews.

Since World War II, Nazism – which targeted all Jews for elimination – has been the West's definitive prototype of anti-Jewish bigotry. Measured against that prototype, an ideology that welcomes and even elevates Jews who share its own views appears disqualified from being anti-Jewish. Sanders's place in El-Sayed's political and personal imagination, therefore, appears to vindicate El-Sayed against any charge of villainizing Jews.

The prototype underlying that conclusion, however, was built on a fundamental mistake: treating anti-Jewish bigotry as inherently premodern.

The West traced a symbolic archive of images and accusations against "the Jew" back to centuries of religious hostility. Yet those origins tell us where the archive developed, not what the phenomenon essentially is.

Religion supplied the historical setting in which that archive accumulated around the Jew as the figure rejecting a supposed redemptive truth, but the Jew's role was portable. Once religious power gave way to modern secular forces, those forces inherited the archive, stripped it of God, and reconstructed it in the languages of race, psychology, and metaphysics.

But the West came to interpret anti-Jewish bigotry differently – as an ancient pathology that modernity had not yet eliminated. It therefore viewed Nazism as that pathology's definitive culmination, rather than as one modern form of anti-Jewish bigotry among others. Instead of remaining vigilant for other distinctly modern forms, the West built its postwar moral architecture around preventing Nazism's return.

After Auschwitz, Western societies rightly became extraordinarily sensitive to fascism, racial hierarchy, and explicit Jew-hatred. But the postwar order did not stop at recognizing Nazism's characteristics as dangerous. It went further and conferred moral authority on their perceived opposites. Anti-racism. Universalism. Internationalism. Nazism's traits became the map of evil, and the inverse of that map became the territory of good.

That framework overlooked a fundamental feature of anti-Jewish bigotry: it has never belonged to a single political ideology. Jews can be blamed for capitalism by one movement and communism by another, for racial inferiority in one context and racial supremacy in another, for refusing assimilation and for dissolving the nation, sometimes by the same accuser in the same decade.

Postwar Western culture trained itself to recognize the villainization of Jews primarily through Nazism's particular characteristics rather than through the role assigned to the Jew. In doing so, it sensitized itself to ideological form rather than symbolic function.

The consequence was that another modern anti-Jewish ideology could assume the shape of anti-Nazism – thereby not only avoiding being identified as anti-Jewish bigotry, but also acquiring moral authority within the postwar order.

That is exactly what antizionism did. Propagated by the Soviet Union and its Arab nationalist allies, antizionism reconstructed Zionism and Israel as enemies of humanity through a set of distinctly modern libels. Drawing on Nazi imagery and Holocaust inversion, it recast Jews as the new Nazis, perpetrators of the very evils – racism, colonialism, apartheid, and genocide – around whose rejection the postwar moral order was being built.


JPost Editorial: Winning the war is not enough to permanently secure Israel's survival and security
The headlines of recent days have been filled with airstrikes, missile interceptions, and military communiqués. The United States has continued its campaign against Iranian military targets, Israel remains engaged on multiple fronts, and Hezbollah’s infrastructure in southern Lebanon is still being dismantled.

Together, these developments have created a strategic opening that would have seemed unimaginable only a few years ago.

The IDF, working alongside an American administration willing to confront Tehran directly, have shown that Israel and its allies can strike their enemies effectively. Iran’s military capabilities have been degraded, Hezbollah has suffered significant setbacks, and Hamas has lost much of the infrastructure that enabled the October 7 massacre.

These are real achievements, but they are not yet victory.

Military campaigns can destroy launchers, command centers, and weapons stockpiles. They cannot, by themselves, create a durable security reality. History is filled with wars won on the battlefield and squandered through strategic drift. Israel has learned that lesson more than once.

Converting military achievements into lasting security gains
The challenge now is to convert military achievements into lasting security gains.

That begins with defining victory. Any definition of victory must also include the return of every hostage, living and dead, from Gaza. It must allow displaced Israelis to return home securely, with confidence that the threats across their borders have been removed. It must also ensure that the sacrifices of Israel’s soldiers produce a safer country rather than another temporary pause before the next war.

If Iran rebuilds its missile industry within a few years, the current operations will have achieved only a temporary reprieve. If Hezbollah returns to southern Lebanon under the cover of another unenforced international arrangement, residents of Kiryat Shmona, Metula, and Shlomi will remain under threat. If Hamas is weakened but Gaza again becomes fertile ground for an extremist army, Israel will have postponed the danger rather than removed it.

These questions should already be shaping decisions in Jerusalem and Washington.

Lebanon offers the clearest warning. For nearly two decades, UN Security Council Resolution 1701 was supposed to keep Hezbollah away from Israel’s border. Instead, Hezbollah built a vast missile arsenal, embedded military infrastructure inside civilian villages, and turned southern Lebanon into Iran’s forward operating base.

Israel cannot repeat that mistake. Any future arrangement must be judged by its enforcement mechanisms and by Israel’s ability to prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding. Diplomatic promises have value only when backed by surveillance, consequences, and credible military power.

The same clarity is required regarding Iran. Tehran is vulnerable, although deterrence is never permanent. Iran’s leaders have repeatedly shown that they are willing to absorb setbacks when they believe time remains on their side.

The objective must therefore be broader than punishment. Iran must be prevented from restoring its missile, drone, and nuclear capabilities. That requires sustained Israeli military readiness, intelligence cooperation, economic pressure, strict verification, and clear consequences for renewed rearmament.
The IDF is not enough: Israel needs an expeditionary force to fight beyond its borders
October 7 did more than expose an intelligence failure; it exposed the exhaustion of Israel’s security doctrine.

The IDF had become exceptionally capable at surveillance, interception, and precision strikes, yet increasingly organized around a static proposition: watch the borders, absorb the opening blow, mobilize, and rely on air power and missile defense to restore control.

That proposition failed. Sensors became substitutes for presence. Fences became deterrence. Missile defense, indispensable as it is, began to masquerade as strategy. The result was a force tactically sophisticated but strategically reactive.

Israel has gradually adopted the logic of a fortress: defend the center, harden the perimeter, and intercept whatever penetrates it.

But a fortress cedes the initiative to the besieger. It allows adversaries to choose the timing, direction, and intensity of pressure while Israel bears the recurring cost of defending every border, population center, and piece of critical infrastructure.

The answer is not simply to reinforce the fortress. It is to break its logic by fighting along the exposed edges of the systems constructed to encircle Israel.

Yet Israel’s post-October 7 debate has produced remarkably little doctrinal ambition. There are arguments over commissions of inquiry, force size, procurement, and responsibility.

There has been no comparably serious proposal for how Israel should fight in a region transformed by drones, precision missiles, proxy armies, maritime coercion, and the emergence of Turkey as an increasingly hostile regional power.

Israel does not merely need a larger version of the prewar IDF. It needs a new operational instrument: a Tzahal Expeditionary Command (TEC).

TEC would fill the dangerous gap between special operations and full-scale divisional war. It would be a permanent joint command built to deploy a limited but powerful force beyond Israel’s immediate borders, sustain it under fire, integrate naval, air, intelligence, cyber, and ground capabilities, and impose strategic disruption without requiring occupation or total war.
What Hamas’ Own Casualty Figures Reveal Is Not the War the Media Described
In early July, the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry released new casualty figures, broken down by age and gender.

According to these latest numbers, which were republished by Drop Site News – an outlet with a history of acting as a mouthpiece for terrorist organizations – 73,066 Palestinians have been killed, including around 21,000 children and 11,000 women.

The numbers themselves have changed significantly throughout the war and now Hamas’ own accounting puts women and children at roughly 32,000 of 73,066 – well under half. The claim that Israel was deliberately targeting women and children was never supported by the numbers that Hamas is continuing to release.

While the media may have moved on from claiming 70% of the casualties are women and children, it hasn’t abandoned the narrative, just the specific percentage. Since Hamas published its casualty updates, outlets have continued to parrot or even exceed the claims that Hamas has made.

In one instance, the Washington Post not only increased the total casualties by 184 people, but has also stated that the Gaza Health Ministry reports “the majority of casualties are women and children.” Yet Hamas’ own figures display that less than half of the casualties are from those demographics.

Child Casualties and Child Soldiers
Beyond the intentionally misleading numbers, they also hide something much more sinister – Hamas’ use of child soldiers. Children, some as young as 12 years old, have been found to have been recruited by Hamas or other terrorist organizations, including Islamic Jihad.

Hamas has previously exhibited its willingness to use child soldiers, recruiting many of them in the years leading up to the war. By indoctrinating children with hatred and recruiting them as soldiers, the terrorist organization effectively prepared to use them during the war as human shields, constituting a grave war crime.

If more than half of the population in Gaza is under the age of 18, surely the casualty numbers for this age bracket would be much larger had the IDF intentionally targeted that population. But Hamas’ own numbers show that the vast majority of those killed are men of fighting age, telling an entirely different story of the war.

Hamas itself has begun admitting to this, and thus far has released almost 1,000 martyr posters of its combatants who died in the war. Other terrorists organizations have issued hundreds more notices about detailing their fallen operatives. As martyr posters continue to be released, they reveal that these were not only men of fighting age, but many exploited civilian roles whilst working as a terrorist operative.


Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood financed Gaza flotilla, Israel says
Israel’s foreign minister says Hamas financed the Gaza Aid flotilla and that one of the organization’s own activists was an agent of the terrorist group.

Gideon Saar levelled the accusations at the global conference countering left-wing terrorism, chaired by Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, DC Thursday.

Saar claimed that Israel obtained internal Hamas documents that showed the terrorist group was secretly behind the Global Sumud Flotilla and used it as a front for its own murderous agenda.

“Hamas documents seized by the IDF indicate financing, operational involvement, and covert ownership of the vessels through a Spanish shell company,” he said.

The Muslim Brotherhood, alongside Hamas, funded and directed the flotilla via a shell company, Saar said, according to The Jerusalem Post.

He pointed the finger at International Freedom Flotilla Coalition founder Zaher Birawi for allegedly being a Hamas agent.

The International Freedom Flotilla Coalition is one of the groups behind the Global Sumud Flotilla, which has repeatedly attempted to sail to Gaza amid Israel’s war with Hamas.

Hamas documents signed by former leader Ismail Haniyeh and obtained by the Israeli Defense Forces in 2021 state that Birawi is an agent of the terrorist group, Saar claimed.

The US Treasury sanctioned Birawi along with another group he founded, the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad, for being linked with Hamas in January.
US claims PA’s prisoner payments reform a con, dismissing audit that suggested otherwise
The US State Department on Sunday accused the Palestinian Authority of trying to “dupe” the international community into believing it ended a welfare system that incentivized attacks on Israelis, dismissing an external audit that suggested otherwise.

PA President Mahmoud Abbas signed a decree in February 2025 ending the previous program, which conditioned payments to Palestinian security prisoners on the length of their sentence, and established a new system that tied all welfare stipends to recipients’ financial situation.

Initial skepticism in Washington over the announcement intensified when it was discovered the following November that a subsequent round of payments was made under the previous mechanism. Abbas fired his finance minister over the transgression, but Ramallah has failed to earn the Trump administration’s trust on the issue.

In an attempt to demonstrate its seriousness, the PA commissioned the prominent global consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal to conduct an audit of its new welfare system being run out of the Palestinian National Economic Empowerment Institution (PNEEI or “Tamkeen” in Arabic).

Earlier this month, the PA announced that the audit had confirmed that the reform of its welfare program is being properly implemented.

The US responded by calling on the PA to publicly release the audit. Last week, Ramallah released A&M’s summary of the audit, which confirmed Ramallah’s own description of the results.
Fetterman torches ‘clown’ Mamdani for push to arrest Netanyahu in NYC: ‘Such a tough guy’
Maverick Sen. John Fetterman laced into Mayor Zohran Mamdani, trashing him as a “clown” for trying to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his visit to the Big Apple.

Hizzoner, who is deeply skeptical of prisons, said that his team was exploring the legality of detaining Netanyahu should the Israeli prime minister come to the Big Apple for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) or another event.

“Well, it’s such a tough guy to say that kind of thing. He has no way to do that,” Fetterman (D-Pa.) chided on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”

The mayor cited the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) 2024 arrest warrant for Netanyahu over the war in Gaza.

“Obviously, America’s not even part of that corrupt court, and so he’s just a clown to even say that. So he won’t try that,” Fetterman went on. “And now, just sit down and focus on the problems that they have in New York. That’s really not your purview.”

The Post contacted City Hall for comment.

During his campaign, Mamdani indicated he would attempt to arrest Netanyahu if the Israeli leader set foot on New York City soil. In a recent exchange with the New York Times’ “The Interview,” Mamdani doubled down on that.

“I believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu belongs in The Hague,” Mamdani told the podcast’s host, Lulu Garcia-Navarro, referring to the ICC’s headquarters.

“He’s a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court,” Hizzoner went on. “And what you will find is that is an opinion that is held by many, purely because of what his actions have wrought over these last many years.”

But when pressed, the mayor acknowledged that he may not have the legal authority to detain a world leader and committed to following the city’s laws.


Eugene Kontorovich: Mamdani Invokes “International Law” Against Israel
Just days after Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced a major U.S. policy to “dismantle” the International Criminal Court because it threatened American sovereignty, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani mused about the possibility of arresting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the basis of an ICC warrant.

This has become an ongoing theme for Mamdani—making vague claims about international law as an excuse to ignore domestic laws. When protesters gathered outside Park East Synagogue in New York in May, he condemned the Jews inside, not the violent mob outside. The synagogue was hosting a real-estate fair for properties in Israel.

“Mayor Mamdani is deeply opposed to the real estate expo this evening that includes the promotion of the sale of land in settlements in the Occupied West Bank,” his office said. “These settlements are illegal under international law.”

That made the second time in a week that the mayor had opined on a public international law issue. On social media, he had denounced as “a brazen violation of international law” Israel’s boarding of a flotilla of vessels seeking to run a blockade to resupply Hamas-controlled Gaza.

Mamdani gets international law wrong as often as he invokes it. Blockading an enemy is a basic part of naval warfare, and even neutral ships that attempt to break the blockade may not only be boarded but also sometimes even sunk. The United Nations–backed governing authority for Gaza, the Board of Peace, confirmed that there was no humanitarian need to resupply the Hamas-controlled part of Gaza, putting Israel well within its rights. Indeed, even as Mamdani opined on the actions of a foreign power, his own country, the United States, was enforcing a blockade of Iran and boarding and seizing vessels.

Similarly, Israeli real-estate fairs do not violate international law, even if they market properties in the “settlements”—that is, the areas forcibly occupied by Jordan during 1948–67. Even in the mistaken view that Israel became an occupying power after ending Jordan’s occupation, the Geneva Convention prohibits only the transfer of that power’s own civilian population into the territory. New Yorkers are obviously not part of Israel’s civilian population, nor is the real-estate fair deporting or transferring them. In real occupied territories like Northern Cyprus, properties are regularly sold to foreigners, and doing so has never been treated as an international crime. Indeed, Forbes recently recommended Northern Cyprus as one of the best affordable places to live abroad. Its editors have not been hauled away by the International Criminal Court.

Foreign policy is an exclusively federal domain, but Mamdani regularly invoked international law even when he was only an assemblyman. As a mayoral candidate, he expressed support for boycotts and sanctions against Israel as a way of “creating compliance in international law.” As mayor-elect, he made his first threats to arrest Netanyahu because of ICC warrants against him. This was needed, he said, to make New York a “city of international law.” Of course, the United States is not a member of the ICC, having refused to join under both Republican and Democratic administrations because of the institution’s clear bias. ICC warrants are thus meaningless in America, and arresting Netanyahu would be a naked violation of a foreign head of state’s immunity. In short, Mamdani’s threats would be breaking international law, not enforcing it.

Ironically, there are some ICC crimes that New York could prosecute—but they are alleged offenses by the organization’s chief prosecutor, Karim Khan. His unprecedented charges against Israeli officials were issued just as allegations surfaced that he had been accused by an employee of repeated sexual assaults. While Khan used the existence of his Israel investigation to sideline the charges against him, one of the alleged incidents took place in the Millenium Hotel near the United Nations. Yet New York authorities have not sought to charge Khan as they did Harvey Weinstein, nor is Mamdani threatening to arrest Khan.


College Democrats’ conference, co-sponsored by J Street U, features Hasan Piker
J Street’s college group is co-sponsoring this weekend’s College Democrats of America convention that will feature far-left, antisemitic influencer Hasan Piker.

J Street U, the student organizing arm of J Street, “is proud to sponsor and participate in the College Democrats Convention,” Jeremy Ben-Ami, president of J Street, told Jewish Insider on Friday, hours after Piker was announced as the convention’s “surprise speaker.”

The two-day conference began in Washington on Friday.

“We had no role in the selection of speakers and we’re sure there will be speakers — including Hasan Piker — with whom we disagree,” said Ben-Ami. “Being in venues like this is even more important when there are participants with whom we disagree. Failing to show up would be an abdication of our responsibility to make the case for our pro-Israel views.”

Despite facing scrutiny over comments including justifying Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attacks, calling Orthodox Jews “inbred” and asserting that America deserved 9/11, Piker has recently been invited to speak at several high-profile events, including at The New Yorker‘s annual festival and at the Yale Political Union.

During his speech Saturday evening at the conference, Piker distanced himself from the mainstream Democratic Party, condemning “Democrats who compromise, who conciliate and who betray us,” to loud applause. “No more to the Democrats who collaborate and cooperate with the fascists, who will fund ICE, who will fund Israel … we don’t need those Democrats anymore,” Piker said.

The College Democrats’ convention is hosting several speakers who hold extreme anti-Israel views, including Democratic Socialists of America activist and Arizona congressional candidate Deja Foxx, commentator Kat Abughazaleh, gun-control activist and former DNC vice chair David Hogg and Democratic Socialists of America-endorsed congressional nominee Melat Kiros.

Georgia state Rep. Ruwa Romman, a Palestinian-American legislator with a long record of anti-Israel activism, will also be speaking.

The lineup also includes elected officials who have been critical of Israel’s policies, such as Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO).
College Dems hosting Hasan Piker at convention is ‘really scary and concerning,’ former leader tells JNS
The College Democrats of America’s decision to host far-left streamer Hasan Piker at its national convention is “really scary and concerning,” a Jewish student who previously held leadership positions in the organization told JNS.

The organization stated on Friday that Piker would be the “surprise speaker” at its national convention in Washington, D.C., on July 17-19. Piker has called Orthodox Jews “inbred” and said that Hamas is “1,000 times” better than the Israeli government. (JNS sought comment from the College Democrats.)

“Hasan Piker has, on multiple occasions, voiced sentiments that are deeply antisemitic. We’ve had members of Congress, like Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.), explicitly call him out for his antisemitism,” the Jewish student told JNS.

“The College Democrats bill themselves as an organization that’s a big tent, that’s open to being inclusive of many different people of various different backgrounds, and I think that in the Democratic Party as a whole, we have seen that Jewish people are being further and further excluded because of our inherent ties to Israel, and I think that the College Democrats cannot effectively be a big tent organization open to all people if Jewish people are being excluded,” said the student, who declined to be named.

“This organization would not bring in somebody who is so openly discriminatory against other groups, but because of this rising sentiment in College Democrats’ leadership that is just hatred for Jews, it really is just highly concerning that they would do something like this,” he added.

The student was concerned about the College Democrats’ leadership even before Friday’s Piker announcement. Within the organization’s leadership, “it has become increasingly common to see people wearing keffiyehs, to see people voicing support for Palestine,” he told JNS.

“Within College Democrats, I am afraid to tell people that I am Jewish, and I would often hide that,” the student said. “I believe in many of the Democratic ideals that are centered within the Democratic Party and within College Democrats, but my identity as a Jew and as a Zionist is also central to who I am, and it was very challenging to feel like it was necessary to hide those things to really become a full and active participant of this organization.”


Dennis Ross: How to Isolate Tehran
The Iranians seem determined to remain in control of the Strait of Hormuz. They see it as giving them leverage over the global economy and forcing their Gulf neighbors and others to pay them off both economically and politically. So, what should Trump do?

The best - or least bad - option would be to combine the U.S. blockade with forceful and sophisticated diplomacy. The blockade is slowly raising the war's costs to the Iranians and weakening their leverage. But on its own, it is not enough. Iran needs to see and feel isolated and discredited on Hormuz. It needs to see the Europeans and the Arabs offer a UN Security Council resolution that insists that the strait remain an international waterway, not controlled, monetized, or managed by any member state.

Trump needs to work with the Saudis and the Emiratis to tell China that they expect Beijing to support such a resolution or not block one - which would be a shock to Tehran. The Islamic Republic's leaders see themselves as the heirs to a rich historical, national, and cultural legacy, and preventing isolation matters to them.

Trump wants to end this war with Iran weaker and not in control of Hormuz. Diplomacy that is integrated with the use of force and tied to increasing economic pressure just might allow him to shape a deal.
Gulf States Are Demanding a Decisive Outcome Against Iran
U.S. strikes against Iran in the coming days and weeks are expected to focus on keeping the Strait of Hormuz open while avoiding escalation into a full-scale war, a security official told Israel Hayom. The Americans are listening closely to the Gulf states and coordinating their actions with them. The Gulf states have changed course and are now demanding a decisive outcome against Iran.

Two Gulf states are actively participating in the strikes, although on a limited scale. At the same time, they remain concerned about their sensitive strategic infrastructure, particularly oil and gas fields and facilities, as well as desalination plants.

The Americans, together with Britain, France, Israel and other countries operating through the joint command center of U.S. Central Command, are helping the Gulf states establish an intelligence, early-warning and active defense network against Iranian missile and drone attacks.

Over the past week, Iran has fired almost no missiles or drones at the UAE. However, Iran may expand its attacks to include the UAE and Saudi Arabia if the confrontation escalates.

The U.S. Navy is now also preparing to protect the shipping route through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea to the Suez Canal. According to reports in Iranian media, the U.S. Treasury has successfully frozen several billion dollars belonging to Iran in digital assets.


US State Department issues worldwide security alert amid heightened Middle East tensions
The U.S. State Department on Saturday called on Americans worldwide, particularly those in the Middle East, to exercise increased caution, citing heightened regional tensions “with the potential for unforeseen escalation.”

“We remind Americans in the region of the continued need for caution and encourage them to monitor the news for breaking developments,” the State Department said in the travel advisory.

“Americans abroad should follow the guidance in security alerts issued by the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate,” it added. “Flight cancellations and periodic airspace closures may cause travel disruptions.”

The alert warned that U.S. diplomatic facilities have been targeted, including some outside the Middle East, adding that “groups supportive of Iran” could target American interests abroad, as well as “locations associated with the United States and/or Americans throughout the world.”

The State Department urged travelers to heed its travel advisories and review the latest security alerts before making travel plans.

Earlier on Saturday, the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem issued a warning message, advising citizens in the Middle East to “exercise increased caution” due to high tensions in the region.


US completes ninth consecutive night of strikes, sirens sound in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan
The United States completed its ninth consecutive evening of strikes on Monday morning, US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated in a post to X/Twitter.

“CENTCOM assets targeted Iranian military command centers, air defense and coastal surveillance sites, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and communications networks to further diminish Iran's ability to attack commercial vessels and civilian mariners transiting the Strait of Hormuz,” they said.

The statement concluded that US forces were acting at the direction of the commander in chief to hold Iran accountable and remained highly vigilant, focused, lethal, and ready to respond.

Iranian media reported explosions heard in the cities of Tabriz, Chabahar, Konarak, Bandar Mahshahr, and Bandar Imam Khomeini.

Iran retaliates against Gulf States
This marks the ninth consecutive night of US strikes against Iran. Iran has been retaliating by targeting US bases and other infrastructure in neighboring countries.

Earlier on Sunday night, the Kuwait military announced it was intercepting multiple hostile drones. Additionally, sirens were sounded in Kuwait.

The US embassy in Manama said on Monday it had information suggesting Iran may seek to target unspecified locations in central Manama and urged Americans in Bahrain to remain vigilant.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed two tankers were blown up and immobilized trying to pass through the "unsafe" southern route of the strait Monday morning, Reuters reported. They alleged that the US military encouraged the tankers to travel through that route.

Reuters could not immediately verify the incident. The statement gave no details on the vessels' names, flags, crews, or any casualties.
IDF fires interceptors over Eilat as Iranian missiles target nearby Aqaba in Jordan
Israel launched interceptors on Sunday after fragments from Iranian missiles fired at Jordan’s southern city of Aqaba potentially threatened the nearby city of Eilat, as the escalation in US-Iran fighting showed no signs of abating.

The missiles were intercepted by American air defense systems, according to initial Israel Defense Forces assessments, while the military said it also launched Iron Dome interceptors amid the missile attack to shoot down fragments.

No sirens sounded in Eilat, as the fragments were shot down. Interceptor fragments fell in an open area near the city, without causing any damage or injuries, the IDF said.

The Jordanian military said three Iranian ballistic missiles were intercepted while a fourth hit an open area, according to a statement carried by the official Petra news agency.

There were no reports of injuries in the attack.

Iran launched fresh missile attacks against nations allied with Washington as the US has struck Iran for eight consecutive nights and has expanded its airstrike campaign by increasingly hitting civilian infrastructure. The operations followed US President Donald Trump’s threats to start striking infrastructure to pressure Tehran to ease its chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz, the vital waterway for the global energy supply.
Report: Mojtaba Khamenei Is Not in Iran
Saudi broadcaster Al Hadath, citing an Israeli security official, reported Sunday that Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is not in Iran. That means all statements and messages recently issued in his name are fake.

The official said the messages were actually drafted by Revolutionary Guard commander Ahmad Vahidi and other senior figures, who were attempting to create a false impression of control and continuity.

According to the official, Tehran planned and set in motion a complex operation aimed at assassinating senior Israeli figures in Tel Aviv in retaliation for the killing of Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei.


How IDF Military Intelligence Changed after Oct. 7
Inside the combat zone of a maneuvering force, real-time information flows across ruggedized screens, intelligence officers analyze enemy movements, and decisions are made within seconds. This is what the new cooperation between intelligence headquarters and combat forces looks like.

The change is part of a deep conceptual shift undergone by the IDF during the war: a transition to operating through multidimensional combat teams. This gives every fighting framework full independence and diverse capabilities from all branches, allowing it to function as an autonomous army in the field.

This is reflected in the close integration of infantry, armored forces, and advanced armored vehicles operating alongside lethal drone swarms and organic engineering and sabotage capabilities. Completing the picture are these combat intelligence capabilities, which are far more diverse and extensive than anything field-level forces had previously known.

At the center of this effort are forward intelligence centers (Military Intelligence for Deployed Forces) integrated directly into maneuvering areas. They provide forces with an accurate intelligence picture in real time.

In a comprehensive manpower restructuring, the number of intelligence officers in each battalion was doubled and combat brigades were assigned dedicated collection experts in the fields of human intelligence (HUMINT), visual intelligence (VISINT), signals intelligence (SIGINT) and open-source intelligence (OSINT). The intelligence information reaches commanders after it has already been processed and refined, allowing field commanders to make rapid decisions under fire without getting lost in mountains of digital data.
Making the Trilateral Framework Agreement on Lebanon Work
On June 26, 2026, the Israeli, Lebanese, and U.S. governments signed the Trilateral Framework Agreement to "establish peaceful neighborly relations" between Israel and Lebanon. The problem is that the conflict in question is being driven by Hizbullah, which initiated attacks against Israel in support of Hamas right after Oct. 7, 2023, and then again in March 2026 in the context of the war with Iran. Hizbullah leader Naim Qassem said the agreement is "null and void" and crossed all of its "red lines."

The agreement maps out a series of sequential actions aimed at disarming Hizbullah, enabling the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) to restore "effective Lebanese sovereign authority over all Lebanese territory," and ultimately - pending verified disarmament of non-state armed groups and the dismantlement of their infrastructure - redeployment of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) out of Lebanese territory. A partner in the agreement, the U.S. commits to work closely with both governments to monitor compliance and back implementation.

Under this sequenced process, the IDF will continue to clear areas in southern Lebanon of Hizbullah fighters, weapons, tunnels, bunkers, and other infrastructure, and then, after an agreed-upon third party verifies they are clear of non-state armed groups, the areas will be handed over to vetted and "highly qualified" LAF forces, who will assume control and prevent any return or resurgence of Hizbullah or other non-state armed activities.

The need for verification is clear - not only confirming that the LAF has moved into areas the IDF has cleared, but, more critically, that the LAF keeps Hizbullah out. That will require substantial intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance to detect Hizbullah movement into LAF-controlled areas. After the November 2024 ceasefire, the LAF sought to be judged by metrics such as the number of patrols it conducted or sites it inspected, rather than measures of effectiveness like the number of seized and verifiably disposed weapons. This will no longer be the case.

As long as Washington sees this effort as a viable and functioning path toward the parties' shared goal of achieving lasting peace and security, and as long as other countries share the burden of any military, intelligence, and financial support mechanism, it just might work.
How IDF Combat Engineers Destroy Hizbullah Tunnels
Yahalom, the elite special operations unit of the IDF Combat Engineering Corps, includes two primary sub-units: S-1 (Commando & Tunnel Warfare) and S-2 (Explosive Ordnance Disposal). The S-2 platoon also works to locate, map, and destroy strategic tunnels in Gaza and southern Lebanon, its commander, Lt.-Col. D., told Walla.

D. described how the massive blast doors at the entrance to the tunnels were removed, how dozens of trucks carrying explosives were brought in overnight into an area swarming with terrorists and drones, what lies behind the tunnel network built by the Iranians, and why the IDF's operation must not stop now.

After the mapping and clearing comes the climax - destroying the tunnel - while soldiers are exposed to anti-tank threats, drones, and the watchful eyes of Hizbullah terrorists in the area. "Imagine that one night, 140 trucks enter from Israel loaded with 84 tons of 'special material,' and 50 soldiers unload it again in one night. At first, they thought it would take four days. But the soldiers did it with determination, running from one end of the truck to the other end of the tunnel, all night."

HYPNOSIS uses advanced jamming and spoofing capabilities to disrupt or deceive satellite navigation systems.

The system can integrate soft-kill capabilities, such as electronic disruption, with hard-kill systems that physically intercept and destroy threats.

It can counter coordinated attacks involving large numbers of threats approaching simultaneously from multiple directions and operate fully autonomously, without the need for operator intervention.


Drone Footage: Arab Woman Setting Fires By Jewish Town
A security drone captured a woman from the 'Palestinian' village of Sa'ir systematically igniting multiple fires aimed at the a Jewish community in Israel's heartland (Gush Etzion). Residents extinguished the blaze before it spread.

Late on Friday afternoon (July 17, 2026) residents of Givat Ma’ale Tadhir, a Jewish community near Gush Etzion, spotted a suspicious figure emerging from the nearby ‘Palestinian’ village of Sa’ir and moving through the dry brush. The area’s security coordinator launched a security surveillance drone to the location and captured real-time footage of a woman holding a burning rag and igniting one fire after another.

In the footage, the woman is seen throwing additional dry thorns into the flames to intensify the fire and direct it toward the outpost, using the wind to spread it. When she realized the drone had spotted her, she fled back to the village. Residents rushed to the scene, called security forces, and managed to extinguish the fire before it spread and caused disaster. As of now, no arrests of the woman or other suspects have been reported.

Officials at Givot HaHazit (Frontline Hills), an organization representing several communities in Israel’s heartland of Judea and Samaria, noted that the drone used was supplied to the outpost just two weeks ago as part of a thermal drone donation program. “Already last weekend, residents used it to thwart an arson attack in real time,” the organization said.

UKLFI: UN admits Hamas is stealing aid in Gaza; Natasha Hausdorff considers implications
For much of the war in Gaza, Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas of stealing humanitarian aid, intimidating aid workers and exploiting relief operations for its own benefit.

Those allegations were frequently disputed, while claims that Israel was deliberately starving Gaza and causing famine became central to international media coverage, NGO campaigns and legal proceedings before the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The United Nations has now issued a statement condemning what it describes as armed personnel affiliated with Gaza's de facto authorities for interfering with humanitarian operations, entering aid distribution sites, assaulting aid workers and disrupting the delivery of humanitarian assistance.

In this interview, UKLFI Charitable Trust Legal Director Natasha Hausdorff examines what the UN's statement means, whether it represents a significant shift in the international narrative, and how it relates to longstanding allegations that Hamas has diverted humanitarian aid inside Gaza.

Muslim Scouts told children to ‘paint for Gaza’
A branch of the Scout Association encouraged children to “paint for Gaza” and shared artwork carrying the controversial phrase “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”.

Muslim Scout Association, which is a branch of the wider association that operates across the UK, held the painting challenge in collaboration with the charity Islamic Relief to “show Palestinian children love and support”.

It posted the paintings on its Instagram account last December, one of which featured the slogan “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”.

The Scout Association opened an investigation after the Henry Jackson Society, a counter-extremism think tank, wrote a letter urging it to review the images.

The complaint, seen by The Telegraph, states: “The phrase ‘from the river to the sea’ has been criminalised in Germany and parts of Australia because of its association with Hamas and its perceived endorsement of the destruction of the State of Israel.

“Given the slogan’s highly inflammatory nature, we are deeply concerned that children’s artwork bearing it has been circulated by a Scout-affiliated organisation.

“The Scout Association has an important responsibility to ensure that all young people feel welcome and included, regardless of their background or faith.”

Hate speech campaigners have previously condemned the chant, describing it as anti-Semitic and genocidal.

One of the drawings depicts the entire map of Israel filled in with the green, white, black and red colours of the Palestinian flag with a drawing of al-Aqsa Mosque.

In a second image, the map of Israel is covered in Palestinian symbols, including a giant watermelon, which is widely recognised as a visual emblem of Palestinian identity because its colours match those of the Palestinian flag.

In the border outline of the map the words “from the river” have been written near the location of the Jordan river and “to the sea” near the location of the Mediterranean Sea.


Australian university head apologizes for failing to protect Jews
The head of Australian National University issued a formal apology on Thursday for the institution’s failure to protect the psychological safety of Jewish students and staff during aggressive pro-Palestinian encampments in 2024.

Appearing before the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion, interim Vice Chancellor Rebekah Brown acknowledged that Jewish members of the Canberra campus community were subjected to targeted harassment, including being labeled “baby killers” and “genocide supporters.”

She admitted the university fell short despite an internal risk assessment identifying a high risk of psychosocial harm, pledging that the administration is committed to doing better.

Brown was quoted by ABC News Australia as saying “that all Jewish students and staff and their colleagues and friends ... have an absolute right to feel safe, respected and heard on our campus. I’m sorry that they didn’t and I’ve committed in my role, as long as I am the interim vice chancellor, to do better.”

Brown assumed the interim vice chancellor role late last year but served as provost—the university’s top academic officer—during the encampments, which ran from April to August 2024.

The inquiry also heard testimony regarding Monash University in Melbourne, where Vice Chancellor Sharon Pickering detailed an increasingly hostile campus climate.

Pickering noted that Jewish students and staff reported facing abuse so severe that many avoided campus entirely, forcing the university to intervene after organizers posted social media content declaring that “Zionists were not welcome on campus.”
UKLFI: Westminster Council urged to investigate psychologist over political workshops in Children’s Services
UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) has called on Westminster City Council and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) to investigate a clinical psychologist who allegedly introduced a highly contentious anti-Israel political narrative into professional workshops connected with Children’s Services.

A 2026 article in the Journal of Family Therapy identifies the systemic psychotherapist and clinical psychologist working in Children’s Services at Westminster City Council.

The article, entitled “Genocide in Gaza: An Ethical Challenge for Systemic Therapists”, states that an author identified as “JE” had run workshops since October 2023 for staff and service users to “break the silence” about Gaza.

According to the article, the workshops were intended to help staff talk with families about what it described as the “genocide in Gaza”. They also involved examining the supposed effects of “unchallenged Zionist discourses within UK media and institutions”.

The authors said the workshops had encouraged staff to open discussions with clients, including parents, children and adolescents, using this political framing.

UKLFI has written to Westminster City Council’s Executive Director of Children’s Services, arguing that the workshops appear to have treated a deeply contested legal and political allegation as established fact and encouraged staff to adopt that position in their dealings with vulnerable families.

The complaint warns that presenting “Zionist discourses” as a malign influence within the media and institutions risks creating a hostile environment for Jewish, Israeli and Zionist children, families and employees.

UKLFI said Children’s Services should support vulnerable children and families, rather than expose them to partisan political advocacy.
UKLFI: Laser Quest investigates complaint after Jewish children allegedly refused kosher food
Laser Quest Brent Cross has launched an investigation after a member of staff refused to accommodate a birthday party for Jewish children because the family wished to bring kosher pizza into the venue.

UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) complained to Laser Quest following an incident on 3 July 2026, when a mother telephoned to arrange her son’s birthday party.

The mother explained that she was willing to pay for the venue’s full party package, including the pizza provided, but wished to substitute kosher pizzas for the Jewish children attending.

According to the complaint, the employee asked: “So are all the kids Jewish?” When the mother confirmed that they were, he allegedly replied: “We won’t be able to accommodate that.”

The employee initially said that outside food was prohibited. However, he later acknowledged that birthday cakes were permitted, that one or two children could bring their own food, and that halal, vegetarian and vegan dietary requirements could be accommodated. Kosher food, however, would allegedly not be allowed. When asked whether he was antisemitic, the employee reportedly answered “yes”.

UKLFI warned Laser Quest that refusing to provide services to Jewish customers, or imposing less favourable conditions on them, could amount to unlawful discrimination under section 29 of the Equality Act 2010.

The organisation asked Laser Quest to clarify whether the incident had arisen from a misunderstanding and to confirm that Jewish families hiring the venue would be permitted to substitute kosher pizza for the standard food included in the party package.

Laser Quest’s Guest Relations Team has confirmed that the allegations are being treated as a serious complaint. It said that it had notified its insurers, obtained legal advice and commenced an investigation.
NYC school teacher ID’d as host of antisemitic, bizarre conspiracy podcast — while wearing tinfoil hat
A New York City public school teacher hosts a vile podcast where he spouts unhinged, antisemitic conspiracy theories while wearing a homemade tinfoil hat, The Post has learned.

George Trim, 43, who teaches social studies at IS 281 in Bath Beach, Brooklyn, regularly posts wild videos to his YouTube page, where he goes by Cartoonking365.

The channel was established on April 26, 2015.

The Post identified Trim by matching images from his YouTube account to pictures posted online from the school’s Instagram.

His channel, MMEEDUCATING, is filled with videos where he espouses various conspiracies, while clad in a wacky tinfoil hat and other bizarre costumes, such as a Guy Fawkes mask.

In one video from July 8, the educator who made $110,848 last year, espoused the antisemitic conspiracy theory that WTC owner Larry Silverstein had prior knowledge of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

“Before you have a 9/11, this guy just has the insight to get insurance against a terrorist attack on the Twin Towers. Okay, Larry Silverstein, you are you,” Trim ranted.

In a June 15 diatribe, he accused Israel of playing a role in the JFK assassination.


France commemorates 1942 roundup of Jews, after plaque honoring rescuers defaced
France on Sunday commemorated the Vel d’Hiv roundup, a mass arrest of Jews by French police in 1942, one of the most shameful acts undertaken by the country’s wartime government.

French police rounded up thousands of Jews over two days in July 1942, wresting children from their mothers’ arms and dispatching everyone to Nazi death camps. At a time of rising antisemitism, France honors those victims every year as it tries to keep their memory alive.

France is home to Europe’s largest Jewish population and has seen a surge in antisemitic acts, including threats, vandalism and physical violence, following the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks on Israel and the ensuing war.

A plaque in Paris honoring a couple and their daughter who saved a 13-year-old child during the roundup and were recognized by Israel as Righteous Among the Nations was vandalized ahead of the ceremony, French authorities said.

“To attack the Righteous is to desecrate the entire universe,” said Alice Rufo, a deputy defense minister. “The plaque will be restored. Their memory remains undiminished. In the face of antisemitism, in all its forms, the Republic will not yield an inch.”

Following the Nazi invasion of France in 1940, the country was ruled by a government commonly known as Vichy France, which collaborated with Nazi Germany. Vel d’Hiv derives from the name of the Winter Velodrome that many of the detainees were confined in before they were deported to concentration and extermination camps.

On July 16 and 17, 1942, more than 4,500 police officers were mobilized and dozens of buses requisitioned. It was the largest roundup of Jews carried out in France during World War II. Arrests continued until July 20. A total of 13,152 people were deported, a third of them children.
