At least six murdered in Jerusalem terror shooting, 21 wounded
At least six people were murdered and dozens were wounded after terrorists opened fire on civilians at Ramot Junction in the Israeli capital of Jerusalem on Monday morning. The West’s Bloody Bargain: Paying Abbas to Kill Jews
Yaakov Pinto, 25, Rabbi Levi Yitzhak Pash, Israel Mentzer, 28, and Yosef David, 43, were identified as four of those killed in the attack.
Pinto immigrated from Spain and was recently married. Pash taught at a Jerusalem yeshiva. Mentzer and David were residents of the Ramot neighborhood.
Two additional wounded people were later declared dead, including Sarah Mendelson, 60, and Rabbi Mordechai Steinsteg, 79, who had been brought to Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
At least 21 were wounded at the scene and were transported to three different medical centers, including Shaare Zedek and Hadassah-University Medical Centers at Ein Kerem and Mount Scopus. Upwards of 26 individuals at the scene were treated for anxiety.
The terrorists boarded the Line 62 bus in Jerusalem, which operates across the city, and began shooting at passengers.
In response to the attack, a soldier and several civilians at the bus stop engaged the attackers and returned fire. The terrorists were killed at the scene. The terrorists were in their twenties, from towns on the outskirts of Ramallah, El-Kubeiba, and Katanna. Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas praised the attack.
Additionally, the Shin Bet arrested an east Jerusalem resident on suspicion of driving the terrorists to the bus station.
Security forces have encircled several villages outside of Ramallah to reinforce defensive efforts along the West Bank border. They are conducting interrogations and searches in the area.
The IDF dispatched four companies to the scene and to the Ramallah area as part of the manhunt for accomplices.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu conducted a situation assessment with the heads of the security establishment following the attack and arrived at the scene, along with National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
October 7: Terror Live-StreamedRuthie Blum: To jihadists, ‘never again’ means ‘again and again and again’
Let’s not whitewash who they’re dealing with. Hamas isn’t a misunderstood resistance group. These are the men who butchered 1,200 Israelis and foreigners on October 7, raping, burning, and looting their way through southern Israel while shouting “Allahu Akbar” like they were playing a championship match. They phoned their parents to brag about body counts, live-streamed murders on their victims’ own accounts, and turned mass rape into a TikTok highlight reel. For Palestinians, they became instant gods. For the rest of us, they are the devil with Wi-Fi.
And yet Western governments, so refined, so civilized, so endlessly smug about “human rights”, are preparing to reward this death cult. Let’s be clear: Hamas isn’t only sworn to exterminate Jews. Their founding charter, drafted under the Muslim Brotherhood, openly calls for the annihilation of Christians, secular Muslims, and anyone who refuses submission to Islam, globally, not just in the Middle East. That’s who Europe, Canada, and Australia want to crown with legitimacy.
Demographics Don’t Lie
And maybe that’s the point. Look at the demographic math. Europe’s native birthrates are plummeting, while Islamist communities in London, Paris, and Berlin are out-breeding their hosts at a rate of four to one. Gulf states like the UAE and Saudi Arabia, the literal cradle of Islam, wouldn’t touch these Islamist migrants, but Europe rolled out the red carpet.
Afghan radicals, Pakistani Islamists, men steeped in values utterly incompatible with the Judeo-Christian principles that once built the West, these are the populations Western leaders import by the millions. At this rate, Sharia law in Europe isn’t a paranoid fantasy; it’s a pending policy shift. Why wait until the Muslim majority arrives? Macron and Starmer seem content to start rehearsals now.
The Hypocrisy of Western Leaders
Not one of these leaders, Starmer, Macron, Carney, Albanese, has had the decency to mention Palestinian terrorism in their declarations of support for Abbas’s would-be state. Apparently, “human rights” now includes the right to incentivize murder.
And here’s the irony: by handing Abbas the prestige of statehood, these leaders aren’t just endangering Israel. They’re setting fire to their own backyards. Every Islamist radical in London, Paris, Sydney, or Toronto will see this for what it is: Western approval of murder as political currency. If it’s legitimate in Jerusalem, why not in Birmingham, Marseille, or Montreal? After all, if the Palestinian Authority can pay terrorists in Gaza, what’s to stop them from paying “martyrs” abroad once the cash starts flowing from UN-approved aid pipelines?
Already Funding Murder
Western taxpayers are already underwriting this blood money. Billions in aid to the PA vanish into Swiss accounts, Hamas tunnels, and yes, Pay-to-Slay salaries. Recognition of a Palestinian state simply formalizes the arrangement: you kill Jews, we’ll pay your family. Europe cuts the check, Abbas hands it out. Congratulations, Western liberal democracies, your foreign policy has officially become a terror-financing operation.
The Coming Farce
Nothing anyone writes, not me, not you, not a thousand editorials, will stop what’s coming at the UN General Assembly later this month. The world is about to rubber-stamp the creation of a “state” that is defined by its obsession with killing Jews. Let’s drop the diplomatic niceties. This is not about peace, not about two states, not about justice.
It is about the West giving formal approval to a political culture that treats Jewish blood as currency.
Call it what it is: a diplomatic endorsement of murder. Or, to put it in terms even Abbas would understand, a promotion in the Pay-to-Slay program.
When Hamas invaded southern Israel and committed the worst atrocities against Jews since the Holocaust, one might have expected a transnational realization that this was a manifestation of the same jihadism responsible for 9/11—and that different, often rival, Islamist groups, have a shared goal. Since the perpetrators of all such assaults are open about this aim, it shouldn’t be difficult to grasp.
Alas, 10/7—proportionately 12 times the toll of 9/11—had the opposite effect. Instead of constituting a wakeup call to the West, it unleashed the kind of antisemitism not witnessed since the rise of the Third Reich.
Worse, it opened the floodgates of Jew-hatred in the United States, of all places—from the halls of Harvard to the pages of mainstream publications and beyond. The phenomenon isn’t merely disgusting; it’s self-defeating.
As the late British historian Paul Johnson wrote in Commentary magazine in 2005, “[Antisemitism] is an intellectual disease, a disease of the mind, extremely infectious and massively destructive.”
Furthermore, he stated, “In the whole of history, it is hard to point to a single occasion when a wave of antisemitism was provoked by a real Jewish threat (as opposed to an imaginary one).”
Nor, he added, is it “confined to weak, feeble or commonplace intellects; … its carriers have included men and women of otherwise powerful and subtle thoughts. Like all mental diseases, it is damaging to reason and sometimes fatal.”
Well, it’s certainly fatal for Jews—though in the process, it eats away at societies that succumb to it. The same goes for jihadism. Once it takes hold in the countries that its adherents seek to subjugate, it metastasizes.
This is particularly true in the West, where there is a dangerously low birthrate—other than among immigrants—as well as vociferous fellow travelers whose influence far outweighs their numbers. These are the useful idiots whose progressive politics and behavior are antithetical to the jihadist ideology they abet, whether out of ignorance or malice.
The latest excuse for ganging up on Israel and the Jews is the war against Hamas and subsequent/simultaneous battles with additional Iranian proxies, as well as with the Islamic Republic itself. The moral vertigo on the part of people who will be next in line if the jihadists have their way is astounding.
If not for the current administration in Washington, the only real relevant player in the international arena, Israel would be forced to face its mortal enemies, and counter the gaslighting by its ostensible friends, on its own.
Thankfully, U.S. President Donald Trump understands that the Jewish state, the “small Satan,” is on the front lines not only of the war against the “great Satan,” America, but against all the Judeo-Christian values that both hold dear. It’s precisely why he’s urging Israel to get on with the business of winning it already.
Ahead of this pair of interconnected anniversaries, it behooves us to stop bemoaning the hollowness of the post-Holocaust slogan “never again,” and remember Hamas’s vow, endorsed by jihadists everywhere, to repeat the abominations of Oct. 7 “again and again and again.”
Israel fighting ‘fierce war’ against terror, Netanyahu says after Jerusalem attack
Israel is fighting a “fierce war against terrorism on several fronts,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday during a visit to the site of a terrorist attack in Jerusalem that claimed the lives of six people earlier in the day.
“I want to extend condolences to the families of the victims and to the wounded,” said Netanyahu.
Six people were murdered and a dozen more wounded in a shooting in the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Ramot on Monday morning.
Two terrorists were killed at the scene by an Israel Defense Forces soldier and an armed civilian. The soldier was identified in reports as a squad commander in the IDF’s ultra-Orthodox Hasmonean Brigade.
“When I say we are in an intense war on several fronts, we naturally have tremendous successes against terrorist regimes and organizations. But the war continues, also in the Gaza Strip, where we will destroy Hamas as we have promised and free our hostages—all of our hostages—and unfortunately also here in Jerusalem,” said Netanyahu.
“In Judea and Samaria, we acted with very great force. The Shin Bet, the IDF and also the Israel Police thwarted hundreds of terror attacks this year, but not this morning unfortunately,” the premier added.
However, the country’s security forces will reach everyone who helped or dispatched the terrorists and will take “even harsher measures,” he warned.
“These murders, these attacks, in all sectors, do not weaken us,” Netanyahu said. “They only increase our determination to complete the missions we took upon ourselves everywhere—also in Gaza and also Judea and Samaria.”
Israel, he continued, was “fighting terrorism—the terror regime of the Houthis, Iran that backs them all, in Gaza, in Lebanon, in Hezbollah, in every sector. We do not relent and we will not relent. We will intensify our actions, and we will achieve all our objectives.”

Seth Frantzman: Terror in Jerusalem: Israel's capital is on the frontlines of West Bank threats
The deadly attack on Monday morning at a busy bus stop is a stark reminder of the unabated terrorist threat.‘I heard gunfire, saw panic and closed in’: Haredi soldier who killed terrorists shares moment of attack
Reports indicated that two terrorists had entered Jerusalem with weapons. They then traveled to a busy area near Ramot and opened fire on a No. 62 bus.
Ramot is a large Jerusalem neighborhood that sprawls across a valley from a sizable interchange where the Tel Aviv–Jerusalem Highway, Begin Road, and Route 443 converge.
The attack illustrates how Jerusalem continues to sit on the frontline of terrorist threats that emanate from the West Bank.
In the wake of the attack, the IDF encircled several areas on the outskirts of Ramallah, a Palestinian city north of Jerusalem. It serves as the administrative capital for the Palestinian Authority.
There have long been clashes and tensions in the areas between Ramallah and Jerusalem, including near Kalandiya junction, which divides the two cities. The security checkpoint there is near the Kalandiya refugee camp, a warren of small streets and homes that is awash in illegal weapons.
An image from the scene of the terrorist attack showed that at least one of the perpetrators had used a Carlo-style submachine gun. These guns are often manufactured or enhanced in workshops in the West Bank. They used to routinely be the preferred weapons of terrorists from villages in the West Bank.
The Carlo-style gun
In recent years, however, terrorists have not had to use these types of guns because they had access to smuggled weapons, such as the M4 carbine-style, military-grade rifles.
The flow of firearms to the West Bank in the last five years has fueled a massive wave of terrorism. Nevertheless, in the previous year, much of that threat was eliminated, primarily in the northern part of the West Bank.
The decision to resort to the Carlo-style gun – which is often considered to be a crude do-it-yourself type of weapon in terms of how it looks and is made – may indicate that the terrorists have less access to sophisticated guns.
That being said, this terrorist attack was the deadliest one in years in Jerusalem, and it illustrates that these types of firearms are still a significant threat.
The decision by the terrorists to target Jerusalem is symbolic. The enemy is striking at the beating heart of Israel’s capital city. Israeli politicians praised the quick reaction of civilians and soldiers who confronted the terrorists.
An IDF soldier who shot dead two Palestinian terrorists in Monday’s attack at a busy Jerusalem junction said he realized he had to “close in” the moment he recognized the scene as a terror attack. These are the six victims of the terror attack in Jerusalem
“I was at the junction and heard gunfire,” said Sergeant S., a member of the all ultra-Orthodox Hasmonean Brigade. “I ran out to the bus stop and saw the terrorists. A few civilians and I identified them and opened fire until we saw they were fully neutralized, then we moved in to help the wounded. I’m glad I was able to do it.”
The soldier’s actions stopped the two attackers, identified as Muthana Amro and Mohammed Taha, who killed six Israelis at the Ramot Junction: Rabbi Mordechai Steintzeg, known as Dr. Mark; Sarah Mendelson; Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Pash; Yaakov Pinto; Rabbi Yosef David; and Yisrael Metzner.
According to the army, S. acted in coordination with a civilian — a yeshiva student who opened fire with an old pistol he had inherited from his grandfather, a longtime police volunteer. The gun had passed between family members in recent months before reaching the man, who holds a valid license. Witnesses said he emptied a magazine at the assailants before giving testimony to police.
Hasmonean Brigade Commander Col. Avinoam Emunah praised the soldier, writing that the incident “is further proof of the great significance of establishing the brigade and training Haredi fighters to bear arms, to be ready for combat and to neutralize any threat wherever it appears.”
A teacher, a rabbi, a father of six, a grandmother, a newlywed immigrant, and a former American cardiologist were killed Monday when terrorists opened fire at a Jerusalem bus stop on Monday morning.
The two gunmen, Palestinian residents of the West Bank, arrived at the Ramot Junction shortly after 10 a.m. — according to some reports, by car — and opened fire at people waiting at a bus stop as well as at a bus that had just stopped there.
The spot, near several ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods, is among Jerusalem’s busiest intersections, often crowded with people waiting for buses, hitchhikers, pedestrians, and others.
The attack ended when a soldier and a number of civilians who were present at the scene fired at the terrorists, killing them, police said.
The dead were named as Levi Yitzhak Pash, 57, Yaakov Pinto, 25, Yisrael Matzner, 28, Rabbi Yosef David, 43, Rabbi Mordechai Steintzag, 79, and Sarah Mendelson, 60. All were residents of Jerusalem except for Pash, who lived in Tel Zion in the central West Bank.

MEMRI: X Account Affiliated With Fatah, Which Is Headed By Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Praises Jerusalem Terror Attack That Killed Six Israeli Civilians: This Is 'A Very Good Morning'
While Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the shooting attack in Jerusalem that killed six Israeli civilians on September 8, 2025, an X account affiliated with Fatah – which is headed by Abbas – praised the attack.
Mahmoud Abbas: We Condemn The Targeting Of Civilians – Palestinians Or Israelis
The Palestinian WAFA News Agency reported that the Palestinian Authority Presidency released a statement in which it "again emphasized its opposition and condemnation of attacking civilians, whether Palestinian or Israeli, and called for ending all forms of violence and terror, no matter their source." The President's statement also asserted that "security and stability in the region will not be achieved without ending the occupation."
The Palestinian News Agency reported that the Presidential statement "follows what happened today in occupied Jerusalem," referring to the terror attack. However, the attack was carried out in the neighborhood of Ramot, which is located in west Jerusalem.[1]
"Fatah Movement – Official Page" Account On X: Terror Attack Was "Heroic Operation"
In contrast to Abbas's statement, the X account "Fatah Movement – The Official Page", which is affiliated with the Fatah movement, headed by Mahmoud Abbas, published a statement praising the attack in the name of Fatah. The statement read: "The Fatah Movement offers congratulations for the heroic operation [carried out] this morning in the heart of the city of Jerusalem [i.e. the shooting attack in Ramot], emphasizing that this operation comes in the context of a natural response to the crimes of the Occupation in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem."

Arab mediating source: Witkoff proposal unlikely to break hostage talks logjam
An Arab mediating source tells The Times of Israel that they do not believe the proposed hostage deal crafted recently by US special envoy Steve Witkoff is likely to succeed.
The proposal envisions Hamas releasing all remaining hostages within the first 48 hours in exchange for an assurance from the US that Israel will not subsequently resume the war, along with the release of several thousand Palestinians imprisoned in Israel, the mediating source says
Hamas has pushed back on the idea of immediately releasing all remaining hostages without concrete guarantees that Israel will not be able to resume the war.
It has not found US assurances to be sufficient, the Arab mediating source says, pointing to the Trump administration’s backing for the Israeli decision to resume the war in March, rather than transitioning to the second phase of a ceasefire and hostage release deal that had been in place since January.
While US President Donald Trump said yesterday that Israel had accepted his terms for a hostage deal that ends the war, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has yet to hold a cabinet meeting to discuss the exchange. The proposal could well face pushback from the prime minister’s far-right coalition partners over its requirement for the IDF to withdraw from Gaza, where many of them envision Israel reestablishing settlements.

Qatar PM urges Hamas to accept latest US-backed ceasefire-hostage release deal, source says
Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani pressed Hamas political leaders to “respond positively” to the latest US-proposed Gaza ceasefire-hostage deal during talks in Doha today, an official briefed on the talks tells Reuters.
“The Qatari prime minister pressed Hamas to respond positively to the latest American proposal, conveyed through mediators, and aimed at securing a ceasefire and hostage release deal in Gaza,” the official says.
Hamas senior official Bassem Naim said today that the US’s Gaza ceasefire proposal amounted to “preliminary” ideas meant to elicit a rejection from the terror group.
“It is clear that the primary goal is to reach the refusal of the offer and not reach an agreement that leads to the end of the war,” he said in a post on his Telegram channel, without presenting the group’s official stance.
He added that Hamas is not interested in “signing a humiliating surrender document, and Hamas leadership does not include an emperor like Japan’s Hirohito,” a reference to Japan’s unconditional surrender to the US at the end of World War II.

Katz announces massive military op to hit Gaza City
“Today, a massive hurricane will strike over the skies of Gaza City, and the roofs of the terror towers will shake,” Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned on X in Hebrew on Monday morning.
“This is a final warning to the Hamas murderers and rapists in Gaza and in the luxury hotels abroad: Release the hostages and lay down your weapons—or Gaza will be destroyed, and you will be eliminated,” the minister continued, as the Israel Defense Forces steps up the conquest of Gaza City.
“The IDF continues as planned and is preparing to expand the maneuver to decisively defeat Gaza,” he said.
Katz delivered his statement amid reports that a “final deal” was put on the table for Hamas, which could end the war and return all 48 remaining hostages, both the living and the dead.
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday: “I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting. This is my last warning. There will not be another one.”
Also on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said during the regular weekly Cabinet meeting in Jerusalem: “If I must choose victory over our enemy or a foul campaign against us—I choose victory.”

IDF strikes Hezbollah training bases in Lebanon
The Israel Defense Forces on Monday attacked several Hezbollah targets in eastern Lebanon’s Beqaa Valley, including Radwan Force training compounds, the military said. After reported Homs-area strike, vicinity of 2 more Syrian cities said hit by Israel
The facilities were used to train operatives and prepare attacks against IDF troops and Israel, including gunfire drills and other weapons exercises.
“The storage of weapons and the activities of the Hezbollah terrorist organization at these sites constitute a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon and constitute a threat to the State of Israel,” according to the statement.
“The IDF will continue to operate to remove any threat to the State of Israel and will prevent the reestablishment of the Hezbollah terrorist organization,” added the military.
On Wednesday, the Israeli Air Force killed two terrorists and struck a facility in Lebanon that violated the terms of the ceasefire, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said. The terrorists were killed in separate aerial strikes carried out within two hours. The IDF identified one of the targets as Abd al-Manaam Musa Suwaydan, a Hezbollah operative in the Yatar municipality of Southern Lebanon.
Hours later, the IDF struck a Hezbollah site in the Ansariyah area, south of Sidon in southwestern Lebanon, “which stored engineering vehicles intended to rebuild the terrorist organization’s capabilities and support its terrorist activity.” The military also hit a Hezbollah rocket launcher in the Al-Jibbain area, in the Tyre District.
In addition to striking a military base near Syria’s central city of Homs, Israel has also hit targets in the vicinity of the coastal city of Latakia and the historic city of Palmyra, Syrian state-affiliated media reports.
There is no immediate comment from the IDF on any of the strikes.
Syrian media does not elaborate further on the size or the impact of the reported strikes.
Israeli airstrikes in Syria have been relatively rare in recent months.

Syria slams alleged Israeli strikes as ‘blatant infringement’ of regional stability
Syria’s Foreign Ministry condemns a wave of reported Israeli airstrikes in the country as “a blatant infringement” of its sovereignty and regional stability.
In a statement, the ministry charges that the attacks are part of an ongoing series of escalations pursued by Israel against Syrian territory.
Israel struck in the vicinity of Syria’s central Homs city, the coastal city of Latakia and the historic city of Palmyra, Syrian state-affiliated media has said.
Ben Shapiro on Trump, Israel & the Fate of the West
Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro sees the civilizational battle of the modern era as one between the builders and the destroyers—or as he writes it in his new book, between the “lions” and the “scavengers.”
When I sat down with Ben this week, he explained the way he sees this dynamic play out in American society—across both political parties—as “scavengers,” who feed on grievance, identity politics, and moral relativism, cut down the progress of “lions,” who choose responsibility, courage, and a commitment to truth, even when it’s unpopular.
Over the past two years, Ben has seen the scavengers ascendant, as America and Europe have exploded in violent protest against their own institutions, blaming their ills on the free markets and constitutional republicanism, or on the “military-industrial complex” and “global Jewry.”
I spoke with Ben about the way out of the darkness—which he thinks can best be found in religious values: family obligation and procreation, moral order, and meaning beyond the self.
Our conversation ranged across birth rates, wokeness, and the Donald Trump presidency, with moments of both agreement and debate. I came away with a clearer understanding of his worldview—one that frames the future of Western civilization as a high-stakes struggle, more fraught than ever.

‘You can’t give in to terrorists’: John Howard weighs in on Palestinian recognition
Former prime minister John Howard says European leaders like UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron have “gone along with the mob” in recognising the state of Palestine.
Mr Howard told Sky News host Sharri Markson they “can’t do that” because Hamas “started” this war.
“You certainly can’t give in to terrorists, and Hamas are a terrorist organization.
“There’s always a situation where the country that retaliates inflicts a lot more harm than the country who started the fight.
“It’s so important to keep reminding ourselves that Hamas started the latest conflict.”

BUSTED! Gaza boy found ALIVE after media claims life cut short by IDF
Have you heard the story of the Gaza boy presumed to have his life cut short by IDF....only to be found safe and sound a couple of weeks later?
Israel innovation envoy Fleur Hassan-Nahoum is joined by journalist and human rights activist Emily Schrader, founder of Chochmat Nashim Shoshanna Keats-Jaskel, and Ruthie Blum, senior contributing editor at JNS and host of “Israel Undiplomatic.” Together, they unpack this past week's most intriguing stories along with the deadly terrorist attack in Jerusalem that left at least five Israelis murdered and many more critically injured earlier today.
The panel also exposes the disturbing Hamas propaganda war. They expose how Gaza’s civilians are being held hostage by Hamas, and yet the global press parrots talking points from terror affiliates. The women of The Quad call out international media for their hypocrisy, selective outrage and refusal to report real atrocities, from Christian persecution in Egypt and Syria to Taliban abuses of women in Afghanistan.

Arab-Israeli expert: Gaza war will NEVER end (UNLESS this happens)
The Middle East is entering one of the most critical turning points the region has faced in decades.
Dan Diker, President of the Jerusalem Center for Security and Foreign Affairs, and Khaled Abu Toameh, Senior Fellow at the JCFA and the Gatestone Institute, sit down to discuss this historic juncture.
The discussion opens with Israel’s military operation in Gaza and the unprecedented backing it has received from the United States. With Washington proposing a potential trusteeship over Gaza, the hosts ask whether this moment could mark the defeat of Hamas and Islamic Jihad and the beginning of a new regional order, or whether the area risks becoming further entrenched as a hub of jihad fueled by Iran and its proxies.
The program also explores international pressure on Israel from the UN, France, Saudi Arabia, and the European Union, the hostage crisis, and the reluctance of Arab states to pressure Hamas. The hosts emphasize that this conflict is not only political or territorial but an ideological struggle against Israel’s very existence.
Key topics covered:
• Israel’s operation in Gaza and U.S. support for a trusteeship
• Hamas’s strategy and the ongoing hostage crisis
• International efforts to push for Palestinian statehood
• The role of Qatar, Egypt, and other Arab states
• Regional implications in Lebanon and Syria
• The ideological and religious dimensions of the conflict

Minister condemns ‘shameful’ assaults on police at Palestine Action demo
Security Minister Dan Jarvis has told MPS it is “absolutely shameful” that there were 17 assaults on members of the police doing their job at a demo in support of Palestine Action last weekend.“Utterly Appalling” | Pro-Palestine Protesters Attack Police In London
He added these, and a total of 890 arrests, including others for violent acts, “rather undermines the credibility of those who say that these are entirely peaceful protests”.
Jarvis was speaking after Labour MP Stella Creasy tabled an urgent question in which she said arresting protesters for expressing support for Palestine Action is unsustainable.
Creasy said, “The case for acting on the group itself was and is strong. We’ve seen a pattern of violence at their events, and they have not disassociated themselves from that violence.”
She also said people who had attended anti-immigrant protests had seen police and refugees targeted, without similar bans.
She continued: “This is just not sustainable for our police and our criminal justice system.
“There is a difference between people protesting using violence, and people protesting the use of proscription.
“If we don’t get the response right, if we continue to arrest those in the second category, the seriousness of the term terrorism risks losing its meaning, becoming diluted rather than strengthened.
“Proscription was supposed to be about stopping those inciting direct harm and violence.”
In response, Home Office minister Jarvis said members of the group, which was banned in July, had been charged with violent disorder, grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm, and criminal damage.
Weapons had been used in its attacks, he told MPs, as he said Palestine Action had met the threshold for proscription.
He said supporting a proscribed organisation would never be acceptable, regardless of circumstances.
Police arrested almost 900 people at a demonstration in support of Palestine Action, in the latest round of detentions of its supporters since the Government banned the pro-Palestinian group as a “terrorist” organisation.

‘Unholy chants’: Bondi Beach ‘defiled’ by pro-Palestinian hatred
Sky News host Sharri Markson discusses the “quintessentially Aussie” Bondi Beach being “defiled” by divisive pro-Palestinian protests and flags.
“Our world-famous Bondi Beach, quintessentially Aussie, was defiled by divisive Palestinian flags yesterday, the flags of a terrorist hotspot, as is the norm now for these protests, death chants rang out from the angry activists,” Ms Markson said.
“This is absolutely disgraceful, on our beautiful Bondi Beach, tarnished with calls for an intifada. Intifada means uprising and it has historically been violent.”
If the men who founded Australia came back today to see strange foreign men riding around Bondi Beach on horseback with foreign flags, wouldn’t they simply assume that we had lost a war and that Australia had been conquered and destroyed?
