60 years ago: You can't always believe the experts

From the Palestine Post, March 7, 1949:

Dr. Solomon Zeitlin, considered the pre-eminent authority on the Second Jewish Commonwealth, dismissed a set of Hebrew writings found in Israel as "not an important discovery, and possibly a hoax."

Of course, these were the Dead Sea Scrolls.
