Two weeks ago, Prime Minister Netanyahu presented a plan for "the day after" in Gaza that relied on local officials, untainted by terror, being responsible for security on each town.
It is widely believed that these would be the heads of respected, influential clans in Gaza who would take full control of civil matters with the support and protection of the IDF.
A source in the ministry of interior in the Gaza Strip told Ultra Palestine that threats had reached families who responded to Israeli communications, saying that Hamas would deal with them "militarily."
The source said that there were still many thousands of Hamas security personnel who are doing all they can to ensure that they will still control the Gaza Strip as soon as the war is over.
The Hamas ministry official claimed that the families considering the offer are most interested in revenge on Hamas for how it took over Gaza in 2007, and they see an opportunity to even the score with the IDF on their side. He also claimed that these same families are the ones attacking aid convoys and the Hamas members with them .
At the same time as these threats, Hamas and other groups insist that no one is interested in taking the civil service jobs from Hamas.
I don't know whether any of this is true, although Ultrapal has been a pretty good source in the past. It would make sense that amongst the chaos, clans will look for an opportunity to settle old feuds.
