Mosaic may not be as well known as most of the nominees. it only launched in June 2013. Yet I have been impressed with its consistent quality. The website features some though-provoking long articles taking different viewpoints of the same topic every month. Beyond that, Mosaic's editors also pick the best articles of the day from a variety of sources, almost always with some surprising and welcome choices that you may not have seen otherwise.
My only reservation on awarding this to Mosaic is that the webzine is more oriented towards Judaism than Israel, which is the normal orientation of the award. Yet Mosaic's Zionism is clear throughout its articles. As such, it richly deserves this year's Hasby Award.
