From Ian:

U.S., Israel Must Recognize the Armenian Genocide
Geopolitical concerns must never overshadow history. The short term gain, in relation to the memory of genocide and mass murder, is not worth momentary strategic advantages or military agreements. The relationships between Turkey alongside both Israel and the U.S. will continue, even when both countries eventually honor history and formally recognize the Armenian genocide.

On the 104th anniversary of a genocide that paved the way for the Nazi’s to implement the destruction of European Jews, it’s time the U.S. and Israel accept their responsibility to simply recognize historical fact. The longer both countries ignore reality, the longer nations around the world question the moral stature of both Israel and the U.S. For a nation forged from Holocaust survivors, and a country who defeated the Nazis alongside the Allies of World War Two, it’s imperative moral clarity take precedent over whatever benefits are derived from appeasing Turkey on this grandiose issue.

The U.S. and Israel, especially the generations of Israelis and Jews around the world who remember the murder of 6 million souls by the Nazis, must never allow short-term political considerations to overshadow historical record. Had the world recognized the reality of 1.5 million Armenian men, women and children murdered in the Armenian Genocide, Hitler might not have been able to murder 1.5 million children, of which 1 million were Jewish, during the Holocaust.

Six million Jews might have lived, had the world protected the memory of 1.5 million Armenians who’s lives were stolen by the Ottoman Empire.

In addition, Raphael Lemkin stated categorically that genocide, the word he created, originated from his study of what the Armenians experienced 104 years ago. For revisionist historians, Lemkin’s own words provide all the evidence needed to prove categorically what happened to the Armenians is the same planned and orchestrated barbarism committed against the Jews and other peoples across history. As Lemkin states in a 1949 CBS interview, “I became interested in genocide because it happened so many times, it happened to the Armenians and after the Armenians, Hitler took action…”

6 Dem Senators Sell Out Jewish Terror Victims to Restore Cash to Islamic Terrorists
In 2002, Shmuel Waldman, an American from New Jersey, was shot while boarding a bus in Israel. The terrorist attack killed 2 people and left 40 injured. Among that 40 was Shmuel whose leg was blown apart, forcing him to undergo multiple surgical procedures, and leaving him suffering from PTSD.

The terrorist who shot him was Said Ramadan, a “police officer” working for the terrorists who run the Palestinian Authority. The attack had been planned by senior Palestinian Authority officials and the Palestinian Authority viewed Ramadan as a hero. Waldman joined other victims of terrorism in a lawsuit against the terrorist group, which is funded by American taxpayers, under the Antiterrorism Act.

Waldman v. PLO resulted in a record award of $655 million in damages against the Palestinian Authority terror network. But the verdict was thrown out because an American court lacked jurisdiction over the terrorist group even though the United States provides much of the cash flow that its terrorists rely on.

The Anti-Terrorism Clarification Act was introduced and approved to make it clear that accepting security assistance for its "police force" would place the Palestinian Authority under judicial jurisdiction for lawsuits such as these. The PA could stop funding terrorism or face lawsuits from its victims.

A ruthless battle was waged against ATCA by a variety of groups which understood that the Palestinian Authority would not stop funding and promoting terrorism under any circumstances. These groups falsely claimed that ATCA would undermine American and Israeli security. That was a blatant lie.

The only thing that ATCA would undermine was the flow of tax dollars to Islamic terrorists.

Last year, the Palestinian Authority informed the United States that the terror group would no longer accept any aid from the United States that would expose it to ATCA lawsuits. The terror group’s letter suggested that it might revisit its refusal if the law were changed. That’s just what 6 Democrat senators, led by Senator Dianne Feinstein have set out to do, using the false claim of a humanitarian disaster.

“President Trump’s refusal to provide humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people is a strategic mistake,” Senator Feinstein claimed, accusing him of "denying funding for clean water, health care and schools in the West Bank and Gaza."

Honest Reporting: The Five Commandments of Successful Israel Advocacy
How do you ‘win?’

So how do you “win?” And why engage in these discussions at all? Because the Israel-haters are not your target audience!

In society, whether you are interacting with folks face to face or in cyberspace, you will encounter three kinds of people:
1. Those who completely oppose the existence of Israel as the state of the Jewish people;
2. A much larger number who actively support Israel;
3. And, far bigger than both groups, the majority who don’t have strong opinions about this issue and usually aren’t paying much attention to it at all, except when it is brought to their attention by a flare-up of violence in the region, an action on the local university campus, or a demonstration in their community.

This last group, not your interlocutor, is the audience that you are trying to reach.

Even if you can’t earn a decisive victory, you don’t want to be afraid to engage and challenge anti-Israel activism. Perhaps you’ll get the haters to think twice, but even if you don’t, you have an opportunity to reach the same audience that they’re trying to recruit.

What you might accomplish is getting a fair-minded person, who is listening to the exchange or following it online, to think more about what you have to say. You might get them to realize that the steady drumbeat of misinformation from the other side might not reflect the reality of a complex ethno-religious conflict that is over a century old. You might even get them to engage in conversation with you, to ask you some genuine questions, and to reconsider some of what they have heard.

The Five Commandments of Successful Advocacy

To best accomplish this, we need to avoid arguing down at the level of some of our opponents. To that end, I offer you The Five Commandments of Successful Advocacy. They are just as relevant online as face-to-face. (Perhaps you were expecting a different, more biblically connected, commandment number? Sorry, I don’t want to suggest that these small kernels of advice were the result of any type of divine revelation.)

Rubin Report: Yoram Hazony, Israel and The Virtue of Nationalism

Barry Shaw: Jew-hatred in Ireland disguised as sympathy for Palestinians.
There’s an old joke about a Jew who goes to live in Ireland. When he tells someone he is Jewish, the man asks him, “Aye, but are you a Catholic Jew or a Protestant Jew.”

Tuvia Tenenbom is a film-maker and best-selling author. He writes a series of books about the contemporary global pathology against Jews.

His book ‘Catch the Jew’ highlights the anti-semitism behind the often faux support for the Palestinian cause. This echoes the research I have done for my own book, ‘Fighting Hamas, BDS and Anti-Semitism’ about the need to kick back and expose the Jew-hatred that is latent in all aspects of Palestinian support.

In this, Tenenbom and I are kindred spirits.

In preparation for a documentary and new book, Tenenbom visited Ireland and Northern Ireland. To his horror, he found a depth in disdain for Jews, by people who have rarely met a Jew, to be deeper than even Germany.

Tenenbom introduces himself as a German, which he is, rather than as a Jew, which he also is. It protects him from venom and allows the people he speaks with to be more relaxed and natural in their reactions to his questions.

While it may be understandable why the Irish equate the Palestinian cause with their own experiences with the British, the depth of Jew hatred ascends all political issues, which raises the question what came first, sympathy for Palestinian Arabs or hatred of Jews?

Do the Irish really care for Arabs or Muslims, or is it used sparingly and exclusively to promote the Palestinian cause? Is this demonstrated in any other global arena? Or is a rabid Jew hatred at the heart of it, the spark that tilts them to anyone who is terrorizing and killing Israelis, a metaphor for the Jews?

In walking the streets of Derry, Tenenbom was struck by wall murals and displays of Palestinian flags.

He went in search of answers into the nearby Bogside Inn to speak to some of the drinkers. He went as a journalist for German television. In front of the camera he asked,

“Why do you support the Palestinians?”
“Because of the f——-g Jews.”
“Because of the Jews. They are the curse of the earth. The only thing that Hitler did wrong, he didn’t kill enough f—–g Jews!”

Tenenbom told Algemeiner, “I don’t think I have met with people who have so much hatred for Jews as I met in Northern Ireland and Ireland, and that includes Derry. The sad part,” he added, “is that I actually like the people here, but most of the people hate me here. I parade around as a German to save me all their hate. It shouldn’t be that way.”

Cory Booker defends Ilhan Omar over AIPAC comments that Pelosi flagged for “anti-semitic tropes”
A scene from today’s “She The People” presidential forum, where candidates are invited to show off their wokeness by whitewashing Jew-baiting, apparently.

Pay attention to the question.

Ilhan Omar’s involved in a new controversy practically every week — there was the “dual loyalty” crap about supporters of Israel, the old “some people did something” remarks about 9/11, etc — but the first tweets to land her in trouble were what she said in February about AIPAC setting U.S. policy towards Israel through the influence of its “Benjamins.” What’s memorable about that incident is that it’s the only time her own leadership has come down hard on her. It seemed at first that they would lower the boom on her again after the “dual loyalty” smear, but the left, led by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other Omar pals, rose up in support of the right of progressive women of color to “speak their Jew-baiting truth” or whatever. In the end the House ended up passing an anodyne resolution noting that anti-semitism is bad, with no reference to Omar.

I mention that because Booker wasn’t being asked for a generic comment on Omar here. The questioner specifically mentioned the AIPAC remarks, the ones Pelosi and other House leaders condemned.
Two Women on the Verge of a Party Takedown
Kahn, the child of Eastern European Jewish immigrants, is not surprised by Omar’s outbursts. She warned in 2016 that she suspected Omar harbors anti-Semitic impulses. Kahn recounts an incident at a Minneapolis polling station during the 2014 local election where a Somali-American election judge was allegedly instructing voters in Somali that one voting line was for “our Somali brother” and the other for “the old Jewish lady,” meaning Kahn. The Star Tribune reported at the time that a Somali-American Kahn supporter submitted an affidavit accusing Omar — then, a city council aide — of “shouting instructions” to the election judge at the polling station. Kahn’s campaign filed a formal complaint. Omar denied the allegations.

More recently, Omar has raised the eyebrows of local community leaders for her apparent about face on the anti-Israel “Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions” (BDS) movement. During a primary debate last August, the candidate told a Jewish audience that BDS was “not helpful in getting that two-state solution.” But only days after winning election, her office told the website that Omar did, in fact, support the punitive measures.

The rabbi of the Minneapolis synagogue where Omar made her original, benign, campaign trail remarks says, “She’s either misrepresenting or misunderstanding... [T]his starts her tenure off on the wrong foot.”

Between Omar’s inflammatory foreign policy pronouncements and AOC’s neo-Socialist fervor, the Democratic party and its moderate members risk being dragged off of a political cliff. As one congressman anonymously complained to the New York Post, progressive purity is “wrong and shows a lack of understanding for moderate leaning districts... Our districts don’t look like theirs, and if we’re going to keep the majority, we have to protect these moderate seats.” In February, Missouri Congressman Emanuel Cleaver fired a warning shot to AOC and her band of revolutionaries hopped up on media hype. The Congressional Black Caucus member told Politico, “I’m sure Ms. Cortez means well, but there’s almost an outstanding rule: Don’t attack your own people. We just don’t need sniping in our Democratic caucus.”
ZOA calls to remove Rashida Tlaib from Democratic party
The Zionist organization of America is calling on pro-Israel organizations and “decent Americans” to urge the removal of Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) from the Democratic party and Congressional committees.

“Someone who knowingly and enthusiastically consorts with the most virulent antisemites, blood-soaked terrorists and conspiracy theorists is clearly beyond the pale, or no one is beyond the pale,” wrote ZOA National President Morton A. Klein and Chairman Mark Levenson in a statement.

ZOA based its claims partially on a video published late last month by the Israel Advocacy Movement, which unpacked the individuals that Tlaib thanked for helping her to get into office. Among those individuals, the Israel Advocacy Movement claims, are close associates of Palestinians terrorists with Jewish blood on their hands. Further, several of these individuals have posed blatantly antisemitic material on their social networks.

The Israel Advocacy Movement describes its mission as working to “counter the increasing hostility Israel is suffering.” ZOA, founded in 1897, is the oldest pro-Israel organization in the United States.

For example, Tlaib is seen posing with Rasmea Odeh, a former member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine who was convicted by Israeli military courts for her role in the murder of two students, Leon Kanner and Eddie Joffe in the 1969 Jerusalem Supermarket bombing.

Tlaib has shared photos Mohammed Ali, a Palestinian terrorist who stabbed three Israeli soldiers in Jerusalem in an incident that was captured on video. And she has shared praise for Imad Mughniyeh, the Hezbollah terrorist responsible for the murder of 242 United States servicemen in a 1982 suicide bombing in Lebanon against US forces stationed there on an UN-sanctioned peace-keeping mission.
David Horowitz: The Terrorist Caucus in the House
The Hamas-controlled American Muslims for Palestine is one of the founders of the recently formed U.S Council of Muslim Organizations.[9] This is an Islamist coalition composed of the leading Muslim Brotherhood groups in America. The purpose of the council is to conflate all Muslims with the Islamists – the Muslim supporters of jihad. Shortly after its formation it hosted a “Muslim Advocacy Day” which was attended by Omar, Tlaib and their unwavering ally Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who is not a Muslim but a dedicated activist in the Islamist-Progressive Alliance, whose members are united in their hatred of the Jewish state and their solidarity with Palestinian terrorists.

This “unholy alliance” – as I described it a book by that name published fifteen years ago -cseems now to have infiltrated the ranks of the leadership of the Democratic Party. When Trump criticized Omar’s slurs about Americans’ reaction to 9/11 saying “We will never forget,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi circled the wagons around her, claiming she was the victim and implying that the president was inciting a lynch mob against her.[10] Senator Bernie Sanders, leading in the polls for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination had previously defended Omar when she drew fire for her anti-Semitic attacks on Jews as having dual loyalties and bribing U.S. officials to support Israel. According to Sanders, this was legitimate criticism of the government of Israel: “It is not anti-Semitic,” he said, “to be critical of a right-wing government in Israel.” Now in the wake Trump’s criticism of her attack on 9/11, SanderS wrote: “Ilhan Omar is a leader with strength and courage. She won't back down to Trump's racism and hate, and neither will we. The disgusting and dangerous attacks against her must end.”[11]

These sentiments were echoed in statements of support from all the leading Democrat candidates for president, who elevated Trump’s comment, “we will never forget” into an incitement to violence against Omar because she was a Muslim. In the words of Elizabeth Warren: "The President is inciting violence against a sitting Congresswoman—and an entire group of Americans based on their religion. It's disgusting. It's shameful. And any elected leader who refuses to condemn it shares responsibility for it."[12]

As of this writing, there have been 34,887 “deadly terror attacks” by Muslims against Christians, Jews, Yazidis, Hindus, Buddhists, and other “infidels,” which have resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths.[13] Democrats and progressives seem to think this slaughter of innocents in the name of Allah is not actually the work of Muslims but rather of impostors who have hijacked the Muslim faith while not actually believing its tenets. They cling to this view even though the Quran instructs its followers to “slay the infidels wherever you find them” and specifically prescribes beheading them – “strike them in the neck.” Progressives persist in this self-delusion even though the Muslim Brotherhood, al-Qaeda, ISIS, Hamas and other terrorist groups are guided by leading Muslim scholars like Sheik Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi, spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood itself, who claims the Holocaust was God’s punishment of the Jews for their corruption, and will be repeated, “next time, Allah willing, at the hands of the believers.”[14]

Unable to distinguish between peaceful Muslims and Muslim supporters of Islam’s holy war and its goal of Islamic supremacy, progressives like Sanders, Warren and Pelosi conflate the Islamic terror networks with all Muslims. In doing so, they unwittingly serve the ends of the Muslim Brotherhood and the jihadists, who are our mortal enemies. (h/t Failexa)
Mayor of Winnipeg Calls on Groups to Cancel Appearance by Controversial Anti-Israel Activist Linda Sarsour
The mayor of Winnipeg is calling on the two groups behind an upcoming “social justice” event to disinvite controversial anti-Israel activist Linda Sarsour, who has been accused of antisemitism.

Sarsour is scheduled to speak Friday at the event “Sorry Not Sorry: Unapologetically Working for Social Justice” held by the Social Planning Council of Winnipeg and the Canadian Muslim Women’s Institute.

According to Canada’s CBC, the mayor’s office issued a statement saying that Mayor Brian Bowman “does not feel it is appropriate to provide this individual a public platform to further propagate antisemitic views and hate.”

Bowman commented further on Tuesday, saying, “It’s less about the speaker than the social planning council providing that platform and the message it sends to the Jewish community and the community as a whole.”

He pointed out that Sarsour “has continually attacked the foundation of the State of Israel’s right to exist” and plays “racialized identity politics.”

Representatives of the the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg, B’nai Brith Canada, and other organizations appeared with Bowman when he spoke.

In March, The Algemeiner reported that Michael Mostyn — chief executive officer of B’nai Brith Canada — had issued a statement on Sarsour’s scheduled appearance, saying, “It is now incumbent upon the SPCW and CMWI to follow their own values of creating communities that are just and equitable and swiftly rescind their invitation to Sarsour.”

“Equity means that members of all identity groups could attend without being harassed or targeted,” Mostyn added. “That includes Jews.”

Labour Member Suspended Over 'Jewish Donors' Remark is Now a Labour Spokesman
Guido readers may remember George McManus, the Momentum-backed member of Labour’s National Policy Forum, who was suspended by the Labour Party for this Facebook post about Tom Watson’s “Jewish donors” last year:

Not only did Labour reinstate McManus after just eight weeks, they’ve actually made him a local election candidate and a Labour spokesman in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Makes a mockery of Labour’s claims to be taking its anti-Semitism problem seriously…
University of Maryland student government rejects Israel divestment resolution
The student government of the University of Maryland rejected an Israel divestment resolution.

The resolution was defeated on Wednesday night after a five-hour meeting by a vote of 25 against, 9 in favor and 2 abstentions.

More than 100 students addressed the Student Government Association prior to the vote, the University of Maryland student newspaper, The Diamondback, reported. Seventy-four students spoke in opposition to the bill and 55 spoke in favor of it.

The meeting took place during Passover, when many Jewish students were home for the holiday. More than 400 students attended the meeting in the Stamp Student Union’s Colony Ballroom. Campus police officers were stationed at every entrance to the venue, the newspaper reported.

The student government told Fox News that it was not possible to move the vote since Wednesday is the last day of the association’s legislative session when bills are heard.

Some 650 students signed a petition by #DivestUMD, an initiative of Students for Justice in Palestine. The resolution was endorsed by campus groups including the Pride Alliance, Political Latinx United for Movement and Action in Society and the Muslim Alliance for Social Change, the Diamondback reported.

A petition against the resolution was signed by 1,086 students.

Yisrael Medad: Answering Barghouti
If I had any hope of having this letter to the editor of the NYTimes printed, I'd send it.

Anyone who wants to adopt it with alterations, I welcome to try.
Omar Barghouti writes ("Views of a Founder of B.D.S." April 24), justifying his mislabeling of the Zionist movement as engaged in "colonialization", that it was Ze'ev Jabotiinsky who described in 1923 what Jews were doing in their national homeland as “Zionist colonization". That is a perversion of his language, his intent and his thinking.

That term, quite simply, was what was in popular use. No Jew ever thought, a century ago or a millenium ago, that returning and resettling the Land of Israel, home to the Jews which even the League of Nations gave " the historical connection of the Jewish people with Palestine and to the grounds for reconstituting their national home in that country" was a foreign invasion. Indeed, that 1922 decision to award a Mandate to Great Britain did not mention the term "Arabs" but included all who lived there as "non-Jews", for Arabs were to have their Palestine state in Transjordan.

If anyone has colonized that territory, it was the Arabs who invaded and conquered the region in 638 CE.
German museum cancels 'antisemitic' event with BDS advocate
A representative for a museum in the northern German city of Bremen confirmed to The Jerusalem Post on Thursday that an event with a hardcore advocate of the Boycott, Sanctions, Divestment campaign against Israel was cancelled.

The anti-Israel former pastor and BDS supporter Martin Breidert was slated to speak at the city-funded Übersee-Museum on Thursday on the topic: "Is criticism of the policies of the state of Israel antisemitic?"

Breidert is one of the main leaders of a pro-BDS group in the city of Bonn.

The Vienna based Jewish lawyer Michael Schnarch sent a letter of complaint to the museum's management on April 7."It all began with a boycott, the boycott of Jewish workers, Jewish businesses, Jewish doctors, and Jewish lawyers on April 1, 1933."

Schnarch , who is on the executive board on of the oldest and largest synagogue in Vienna, wrote in connection with the BDS campaign: "Boycott has nothing to do with peacefulness, nothing to do with non-violence.Today, this inglorious role is taken over by the so-called BDS movement, which aims to boycott all Israeli artists, all Israeli athletes, all Israeli institutions, all Israeli entrepreneurs, all Israeli scientists, all Israeli men and women."

Schnarch, who is the only child of survivors of the Holocaust, termed the event with Breidert "clearly antisemitic."

The lawyer's letter to the museum cited a February 4 Post editorial titled: "BDS Terrorists." The editorial quoted Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan who said: "Terrorist groups and the anti-Israel boycott campaign have united in their goal of wiping Israel off the map. Terrorist groups view boycotts as a complementary tactic to terror attacks."

Schnarch wrote "Breidert, as head of the BDS Group Bonn, is unfortunately a particularly bad example of antisemitic agitation."
How Much Did YouTube and PayPal Make From Owen Benjamin’s Jew-Hatred?
It happens every day, even on weekends.

Sometime in the late afternoon or early evening West Coast time, several thousand people log onto YouTube’s livestream service to watch a failed comedian rant about the Jews from his backyard in Gig Harbor, Washington. Sometimes he rants for less than an hour, but before he swore off drinking a few weeks ago, he would rant for more than three hours at a stretch.

As the comedian, who goes by the name of Owen Benjamin, rants about the evil, hate-worthy Jews who are responsible for all the problems of the world, his supporters make comments on YouTube’s live chat stream that vilify and demonize Jews. They type things like “With Jews You Lose,” “Jews became their own god,” “The bible is a jew scam,” “MUZZIES ARE PWNS OF JEWS,” and “BOLSHEVIK JEWS ZIONIST JEWS SAME CONTROL FREAKS.”

As far as what to do with the Jews, one commenter exhorted his fellows to “SODOMIZE THE JEWS INTO SUBMISSION.” Another barely literate commenter who probably had too much to drink typed, “may all jews asa be murdered, if nescessary, all of them, so nobody thinks anymore they are the h=cosen people anymore.” The typos are bad, but the message is clear. This guy wants Jews murdered en masse, just as they were in Pittsburgh last year.

Up until a few weeks ago, YouTube made money from allowing this type of rhetoric — which clearly violates the company’s terms of service — to be broadcast on its servers. To make sure their comments get Benjamin’s attention, the comedian’s supporters would pay money to have their comments highlighted as “superchats” on YouTube’s chatstream. The more Benjamin’s supporters paid, the longer their comments stay pinned to the top of the comment feed for the comedian to read and respond to. Most of the money went into Benjamin’s bank account, but YouTube kept 30 percent of the revenue off the top.
NJ mayor under fire for advising man to call police on Jewish ‘invasion’
A New Jersey mayor was lambasted on Twitter on Wednesday, after telling a user complaining about an “invasion” by “hasidic and Orthodox Jews” to “call police.”

The user, identified as “the big kahuna,” wrote to John Ducey, mayor of Brick, that the city’s parks and beaches were being “ruined” by Orthodox Jews.

Ducey simply responded, “Our parks security has started already. Just call police with any problems and they will send them out.”

Ducey was heavily criticized for ignoring the apparent bigotry displayed by the user, who has since deleted his account.

Ducey later said he was trying to “diffuse [sic] the situation and take the target off the discriminated people and put it on myself.”

He claimed his statement had been misconstrued.

“This twitter feed (and the world in general) is no place for bigotry or hateful comments,” Ducey tweeted. “They are hurtful and divisive. They are condemned by me and all who are trying to make a difference in the world. Look for the good in you and others and the world will be a better place.”
Milan soccer fans salute Mussolini a day before Liberation Day
Italian supporters of the team SS Lazio were filmed in Milan on Wednesday performing fascist salutes and hanging banners honoring fascist leader Benito Mussolini, the World Jewish Congress reported.

“It is incomprehensible that in the 21st century there are still those who seek to glorify a fascist regime," said WJC CEO Robert Singer, noting that the Italian fascists "supported the Nazis in their perpetration of the Holocaust and other crimes against humanity.”

The soccer fans glorified Italian fascism on April 24, a day before Italian Liberation Day from Nazi occupation.

The Italian fascist regime was an ally of Nazi Germany. Italian citizens fully participated in the destruction of the Jewish community of the country after the fall of Mussolini in 1943 and the end of the Second World War. Roughly 8,000 Italian-Jews were murdered during the Holocaust.
Jewish couple robbed and threatened in their Paris-area home
A French Jewish couple robbed in their Paris-area home may have been targeted because of their mezuzah, a watchdog group on anti-Semitism said.

Four masked men threatened to kill the couple in Monday night’s incident in the crime-stricken northern suburb of Aubervilliers, the National Bureau for Vigilance Against Anti-Semitism, or BNVCA, wrote in a statement Wednesday. The group did not name the couple, who were not injured but are “completely traumatized,” the statement said.

The robbers stole all the valuables they could carry.

“Again, the myth of Jews having money prompted criminals to prefer Jews as targets,” the statement read.

In addition to assaults motivated by anti-Semitism, French Jews in recent years have reported an increase in the number of incidents also featuring robbery.

Some victims were selected because they are Jewish, while others began as random criminal acts before escalating into violent assaults after the perpetrators discovered the Jewish identity of their victims.
Israeli Invents Device That Can Test Pesticide Residues on Food in Real Time
Hoping to develop an accurate handheld device for shoppers to check produce for pesticide residue, Avner Avidan put in six months of research and concluded this couldn’t yet be done reliably on the consumer level.

But he did discover that on a larger scale, food manufacturers, farmers and retailers were seeking faster, cheaper, and more reliable solutions to comply with government regulations requiring that their products do not exceed maximum residue limits (MRLs) for chemical contaminants including pesticides.

In 2016, he and his friend Yair Moneta founded Inspecto with the aim of revolutionizing how the food industry carries out such tests for both liquids and solids.

Incubated at The Kitchen FoodTech Hub in Ashdod, Inspecto’s portable system can be tailored to detect specific kinds of chemical contamination in real time, in the field or indoors at any point along the production line.

A sample of the product is placed in Inspecto’s disposable capsule and then inserted into a pushbutton-activated device resembling a coffeemaker. Within a few minutes, the user sees a quantified measurement of the selected contaminant in the sample.

“Using our system will save on cost and turnaround time over the current lengthy and expensive process of sending samples to certified labs,” Avidan tells ISRAEL21c.
750,000 people visit Western Wall since start of Passover
750,000 people have visited the Western Wall since the start of the Passover holiday, according to a statement from the Western Wall Heritage Foundation.

On average, over 100,000 people visited the site each day.

The amount of visitors is larger than in previous years, and thousands more are expected to arrive before the beginning of next week.

Monday was particularly crowded as pilgrims made their way to the Wall to attend the Priestly Blessing prayer service, which takes place twice a year on Passover and Sukkot.

The Blessing is a tradition dating from the time of the Second Temple, when priests would bless the whole Jewish people.

We have lots of ideas, but we need more resources to be even more effective. Please donate today to help get the message out and to help defend Israel.
