I have always been interested in finding any evidence that Muslims venerated Jerusalem before Zionism.

Jews, of course, have written hundreds of poems in the forms of psalms, piyyutim, zemirot and classic poetry continuously since the time of David.

Up until now, I have never seen a single Muslim poem about the holy city that predates Zionism (or 1967, for that matter.) Every article I had seen on poems about Jerusalem and Palestine have been about recent poetry

At Raya.com, Dr. Ayman Al-Atoum wrote a series of three articles on "Jerusalem in Arabic poetry" where he says, "Jerusalem was the hearth of poets' hearts, the compass of their love, the beacon of their words, and the melting of their hearts."

In part one, he quotes from poems about Baghdad and Damascus, to show that Arabs have shown great affection for their capitals, so of course - he says - Jerusalem would be one of them. He provides a quick Arab history of Jerusalem. But he doesn't quote any of the poems he refers to.

In part two, al-Atoum asserts that there were lots of Arabic poems about Jerusalem:
If you go and research these huge events that Jerusalem has gone through, you will find their impact in every aspect, whether social, political, economic or cultural. These events inflamed the sentiments of poets, ancient and modern, and perhaps the history books that recorded the poetry of conquests at the beginning of the Islamic rule of Jerusalem, are the ones that re-recorded the poetry of occupation at the beginning of the Crusades, and not more famous than what Al-Abiwardi wrote.

Presumably, al-Atoum is a scholar and he looked for these Arabic poems of Jerusalem - and couldn't find any from before the Crusaders took over the city. So he pretends that there must have been many such poems, and they were copied by Al Abiwardi, who wrote what seems to be the only semi-famous Arabic poem about Jerusalem.

Al Abiwardi's poem is named Jerusalem, but it doesn't mention the city. It doesn't mention anything about Jerusalem. It doesn't extol the beauty of the city. It is all about the indignity of losing to the Christians ("Romans") and is a call to arms to take it back.

We mingled blood with blazing tears

So there was no mercy left in us.

And the wickedness of a person's weapon is a tear that sheds

This war caught its fire with the swarms

Al-Atoum then moves on to his next poem about Jerusalem, written in....1967.

So it appears that the only Arabic poem that may have been peripherally about Jerusalem was written at the time of the Crusades by an Iraqi poet.

Not exactly a tradition of showing veneration for Jerusalem.

Salfit Governor Abdullah Kamil

Palestinian Media Watch recently reported:

Remember the signs in Nazi Germany saying “Jews not allowed” at the entrance to some shops?
Now Salfit District Governor Abdallah Kamil has “issued a series of important decisions” of which one brings the term “Jews not allowed” to mind. It specifically “forbids” Palestinian businesses to “receive any settler” – i.e., Israelis/Jews. Whoever violates this rule risks closure of his business by the PA Security Forces:

It is completely forbidden to have commercial relations with the settlers, according to Law No. 4 of 2010. It is forbidden to receive any settler in our places of business. We have conveyed clear instructions to the relevant [PA] Security Forces to close any store that violates this decision and to put its owners on trial.

All signs written in the Hebrew language placed in the various places of business and workshops must be removed within a week at the latest. The required legal procedures will be taken against those who do not fulfill this.

We emphasize once more that one must not carry out any action of selling lands, and specifically in Area C , without first receiving security permission from the district.”

[Official PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 28, 2022]

These decisions in force in the Salfit district in the northwestern West Bank have been made to hinder any kind of peace building between Palestinians and Israelis/Jews as their goal is “to fight the settlement enterprise and the relations with the settlers in the district.” District Governor Kamil added that the Palestinian people “will not agree to any manner of coexistence or normalization with the settlers.” The PA routinely refers to all of Israel as "occupied Palestine" and all Israelis as "settlers."
These restrictions were widely reported in Palestinian media.

Columnist Mowaffaq Matar at Raya is very upset at Palestinian Media Watch's analogy between how Nazis boycotted Jews and how the Salfit governorate is boycotting Jews. (He would have no problem with Israeli Arabs doing business in Salfit.)

Unfortunately, not only is the analogy apt, but his defense of the policies sound a bit Nazi-like as well.

It is our right to use all means to protect our existence, our economy, and the life of the Palestinian citizen. ...As for the settler, we do not look at his faith, but rather as an element in an army of invasion, colonialism and occupation, and the owners of this organization know very well that we are not hostile to the Jews because they are Jews, but rather we struggle to recover our public and private land that was usurped by the government of their system and their parties, and expelled its owners and provided it to the settlers to establish bases on it, but In a seemingly civil form, but in fact, they are bases for terrorism, murder, and the seizure of the rights and livelihoods of others. Their crimes are unprecedented except in the Middle Ages, and they have no place in the list of morals and laws of the civilized peoples of the twenty-first century. Settlements have become bases for aggression against  the original owners of the land are the citizens of Palestine whom Pal Media Watch should know that state terrorism has not broken the Palestinian people who are determined to resist occupation and settlement with tools, the most important of which are victory for themselves, their identity, culture and economy, and loyalty to the martyrs and prisoners.
In other words, the Palestinian Fatherland is under attack by immoral, depraved, thieving and murderous Jews whose only interest is to destroy the beautiful Palestinian culture, which includes celebrating those who kill Jews.

Why would anyone think that this sounds like Nazis?

I can't keep up with the sheer amount of antisemitic hate being published by Palestinians (in Palestinian and Jordanian media) over the past few days in response to the German criticism of Mahmoud Abbas' Holocaust trivialization. Here are some from just the last 24 hours.

Al Mal News says that the Nakba is worse than the Holocaust, since the Holocaust only lasted a few years but the Nakba is still ongoing. The title of the article is, "Nazi racism and Zionism are two sides of the same coin."

Rashid Hassan in Ad Dustour manages to throw in lots of antisemitic memes in a short space:

The Jews blackmailed Germany, forcing them to pay thousands of billions of dollars in compensation for the so-called “Holocaust”..!! Their ally was Hitler, who deported them to Palestine to get rid of the Jewish problem...the Jewish mess with Europe, and dragged it into global wars...
On the other hand, it is necessary to point out a very important issue, namely: that the majority of Jews who immigrated to Palestine from Europe, 96 %.. they are not Semites, especially those who emigrated from Poland, Latvia, Australia, Germany and Russia..the enemy leaders know this fact..but they ignore it, and continue to forge and fabricate as they used to..!!
History has taught us that the Jews are bound to treachery..they do not respect a covenant or agreement, and the experience of the Messenger, peace be upon him, with them..the best evidence..they plotted against him..they intended to kill him..and his will to the caliphs after him was: to expel them from the Arabian Peninsula.
At Al Watan Voice, we see this by Dr. Samir El Dada:
But it is not strange for the Zionists to take advantage of the tragedies of Jews and even non-Jews in the Second World War in the worst way and blackmail all the countries of the world, especially Europe, especially Germany, and subject those countries to their control and influence and impose astronomical royalties (they call them compensation) that exceeded one trillion dollars..... and none of these countries would dare to grumble and would have to pay a little under the threat of the sword of anti-Semitism, and this approach is still the chicken that lays the golden eggs for the Zionists and by which they rule the world.
At Palestinian site Raya, Akran Atallah says that Germany is "bullying" the Palestinian people who have "been subjected to the worst process of expulsion and deportation in the modern era."

Akbar El Youm says that Palestinian suffering is equivalent to the Holocaust, and asks, "Should the Palestinian people wait for the gas ovens for Germany and the world to believe that the Israeli Holocaust must stop?!"

In a nice example of psychological projection, Nihad Abu Ghosh writes in Wattan.net that Jews cannot share victimhood with anyone else.
What provokes Israel, then, is not the denial of the Holocaust, but the questioning that the Jews are the only or main victims of the Holocaust, and then doubting that the current State of Israel is the legal, political and moral heir to the victims of the Holocaust, even though this state was established at the expense of the Palestinian tragedy, and it has continued until now. The oppression of the Palestinian people, the occupation of their land and the confiscation of their national rights, and then putting a finger on the bleeding wound, which is that the victims of the Holocaust were turned into torturers for other victims.
He ends off by saying that Israel uses the Holocaust to excuse its using Jewish supremacy to keep Palestinians as practically slave labor.

This article in Ammon News uses the incident in Germany to say at one point that "Dalal al-Mughrabi for us is more important than Joan of Arc as an image and expression, and you considered her a 'terrorist.'"

Another Ammon News article says, "The Holocaust was as it was, and the consequences for the Jews were and the consequences for the Palestinians, which is what the world must acknowledge so that the equation of the Holocaust is equal between the incident and the result and between the phenomenon and its aftermath." Meaning the Palestinians were equal victims as the Jews from Nazi Germany.

That article goes on to say that the Germans should apologize to Palestinians for indirectly causing the Nakba.
