You are probably familiar with the Islamic hadith, quoted in the Hamas charter:

The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharqad tree would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews.

The Muhtawayat website is meant to be a reference site for Arabic readers where questions can be answered authoritatively. As there has been a lot of interest in Jews in Arabic media for the past couple of weeks, the site tackled the question, "Why does the Gharqad tree protect the Jews?"

Note how the question pre-supposes the magical properties of the gharqad tree as fact.

It is a purely Islamic legend, but that doesn't stop Muslims from assuming its truth. The article even says,
The Gharqad tree has cultural and religious importance for Jews, as in Jewish culture it is believed that the Gharqad tree represents a symbol of protection and shelter, and therefore they respect and preserve it as part of their cultural and religious heritage....
This article, and plenty of others, as well as videos, state as fact that Israeli Jews have planted thousands of gharqad trees because we believe they protect us.

It says that Yediot Aharonot reported in 2014 that Israel was planting gharqads as a temporary measure  to protect a rail line that was exposed to rocket fire. (Israel did indeed plant trees, but no one said they were gharqads. )

In fact, no one quite knows what kind of tree it is (most people think it is the boxthorn.)

The thing is, this absurd legend is accepted as truth in the Muslim world. Even though the "proof" that Jews plant gharqads is not from Jewish sources but from Islamic sources, not one Muslim bothers to ask a Jew to verify the story about what Jews believe. (Just as Muslims believe that Jews worshipped Ezra the Scribe as the son of god, something against every tenet of Judaism, because the Quran says so.)

And these kinds of lies are the backbone of Arab and Muslim beliefs about Israel and Jews. Palestinians swear today that an Israeli airstrike hit the Al Ahli hospital, killing 500. They are 100% certain that Israel is waging genocide - even though, according to their own fictional  numbers, fewer people have died than bombs dropped, a pretty inefficient genocide. They are absolutely convinced that the Temples never existed and Jews have never found any proof for them. They have written books "proving" that.

Any evidence that disprove the lies are themselves automatically assumed to be manufactured and forged by Jews.  The world is one big conspiracy theory.  The side that actually cares about accuracy is accused of being the liars; the side that actually is the victim of a campaign of attempted genocide is accused of genocide when defending themselves.

It's easy to laugh about the gharqad tree myth. But it is not so easy to laugh when you realize that myths like that are considered absolute truth by tens of millions, or hundreds of millions, of people. Fighting lies with truth sounds good in theory, but when you are dealing with people who are emotionally invested in the lies, one cannot win.

MEMRI found this gem:

Iraqi Shi'ite Militia Leader (allied with Iran) Qais Al-Khazali: "The Devil is not a theoretical enemy. He has a party that abides by his orders. As will be shown, this party of the Devil is led by the Jews.

"The Jews are the soldiers who serve the Devil – this is the Jewish lobby that controls the decision-making, the media, the economy, the dollar, the weapons trade, and so on. This is no longer a conspiracy theory. This has become clear.

"it was the Jews – the Jewish lobby – that murdered the fathers and forefathers of the Prophet Muhammad. This point does not require further proof, right? Secondly, it was the Jewish lobby that assassinated the Prophet Muhammad. You can check it out to see that I am right. Thirdly, I say – and Allah willing, I will prove – that it was the Jewish lobby that murdered Ali bin Abu Taleb.

"Fourthly, I say – and Allah willing, I will prove – that it was the Jewish lobby who was behind the murder of all the Imams.

"Regardless of who was the actual perpetrator... The Jewish lobby is the reason for the occultation of the Hidden Imam. It is the Jewish lobby that is searching for the Hidden Imam, and they might do anything in order to murder him."
I found this highly amusing article in a Jordanian site.  The author, Rashid Abdul Rahman Al-Najab, has been reading the works of the late Libyan thinker Al-Sadiq Al-Nihum - who was known as a satirist - and apparently took seriously one of his satirical pieces making fun of Arab conspiracy theories. This is wild:

The global capitalist banking system began five thousand years ago at the hands of goldsmiths in Egypt, when most of the Jews' interest there turned to the banking trade and project financing. The Egyptian banks, which were controlled by the Jews, financed around the year 2400 BC the wars of the Pharaohs.

...When the Hebrews were expelled from Egypt, in the thirteenth century BC during the reign of King Ramesses II, under the influence of the hatred that had generated in the past, and not as history shows it as an escape of an enslaved people seeking freedom, the Hebrew banking capital created the idea of “the chosen people” and "The Promised Land", and the Hebrews wrote the constitution of the modern capitalist state in the arid Sinai. It is a constitution based on reducing the authority of the king, distributing administrative organs among twelve Israeli tribes and ensuring the legitimacy of usury, and even making usury a religious duty to lend to foreigners and protect banks, at a time when it was forbidden Their constitution charged usury among the Jews themselves and urged the liquidation of their debts by general discharge once every seven years.

In the era of King Solomon, in the tenth century B.C., the Jews were managing the entire economy of the Middle East, and they did not hesitate to finance suspicious projects to achieve quick profit, such as financing bars, gambling clubs, equipping pirates, and so on, and this reached an extent that made Christ enter the temple and expel money changers and usurers from its area.
Al Najab certainly doesn't present these absurd facts as satire, although he seems to know that some of them don't quite add up. He says that while the historic facts might not be exactly true, they point to the truth.

It really is quite absurd to see today's Muslims insist that there was no Jewish Temple in Jerusalem, and that somehow Al Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock were always there. Especially when one of the Arabic names of Jerusalem is "Bayt al-Muqqadas" - which comes straight from "Beit HaMikdash," the Hebrew name for the Holy Temple.

I've previously mentioned a 15th century work by Jalal-addín that goes into detail about Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem.

But if you want an earlier Muslim historian, we have al-Masudi - a 10th century Arab historian and geographer who has been called "Herodotus of the Arabs."

Al-Masudi's works are quoted in the 1890 work by Guy Le Strange, who translated a number of medieval Arab historians and geographers in "Palestine Under the Moslems."

Al Masudi clearly admits that Al Aqsa is on the site of Solomon's Temple:

Every literate Muslim knew this quite well - until the 20th century, when hate of Jews reached a level high enough to see Muslims and Arabs deny their own most famous and best historians.

Jordanian media has consistently been among the most antisemitic in the Arab world.

Here are two examples from Ammon (Amman) News in the past couple of days.

The first is a pseudo-intellectual article titled "The power and arrogance of the Jews... A recommendation for direction and confrontation" by Dr. Dirar Mufdi Barakat. It starts off with:

What is Jewish hegemony and arrogance? According to the methodology "I shall be and others cannot be," strangeness of course, sterility of values, transcendence over the truth, and over all international norms, and blasphemy of the rights of the Palestinians, people, land and identity, without paying attention to international covenants and agreements and internationalism and organizations, both legal and humanitarian.
The second is a reaction to the Jenin anti-terror operation:

God Almighty says in the decisive revelation: "Neither the Jews nor the Christians will be satisfied with you until you follow their religion)." As usual, the descendants of monkeys and pigs carry out brutal attacks on the Palestinian people with all brutality, extremism and hatred. They do not know the difference between a civilian and a combatant. They kill children, the elderly and women without mercy. They do not have existential legitimacy in the outskirts of Jerusalem, and their criminal actions are not subject to any logic or any religion. How can someone who does not own the land kill the owners of this land?!

The ugliness of these acts is not strange, as they are planning for the Greater State of Israel from the Nile to the Euphrates....
Interestingly, the second article is the complete opposite of the first. The first portrays Jews as a super-intelligent super-villain that runs circles around the weak Arab world; the second says that the brave Palestinians are causing the Jews no end of panic as they cannot figure out how to counter their surprises.

The common denominator, as always, is hatred of Jews. No pretense of "Zionists" here - they are talking about Jews.

M. Sameh Mohamed Bassiouni is the head of Egypt's Islamist Nour Party (which has seven seats in Egypt's Parliament) and is also a member of the Presidential Council.

He published an antisemitic screed on his Facebook page, summarized by Fath-News which he linked to on his Twitter account:
The Jews are people of treachery and not people of peace. Throughout history, they are killers of the prophets. They kill children, women, and the elderly in cold blood. They do not respect a believer except for a covenant. They see themselves as above human beings and consider it lawful to kill others and enslave them, as stated in their books and on the tongues of their rabbis.

... On the false claims of normalization, what they promote of an alleged Abrahamic religion or a manufactured Abrahamic house is very dangerous, with which they domesticate generations of Muslims so that they become coexistent with murder, treachery, and the abhorrent Jewish occupation.

Earlier this week, Bassiouni claimed that the synagogue opened in Abu Dhabi was meant to "achieve the fixed strategic Zionist plans to implement the Talmudic dream of a Jewish state from the Nile to the Euphrates."

Don't worry though - human rights groups won't say a word, and if pushed, they'll just say he is anti-Zionist.

Because according to them, only Nazis are antisemitic.

In 2020, Arab News published an article titled "Arabs founded Jerusalem, says Jordan-based institute."

Among the many references the document uses to make its point is the Amarna Correspondence, a series of diplomatic letters between Canaanite city-state kings and their Egyptian overlords during the 14th century B.C., which mention Jerusalem. The paper presents pictures of the cuneiform tablets uncovered in Egypt in the late 19th century to validate its argument.

Along with archaeological discoveries, the Biblical record is also used as a source to establish original Arab presence in Jerusalem. The Bible, the paper says, shows that “the Arabs, Hamites, Canaanites, and Jebusites were the original inhabitants of the land of Palestine, including the area of Jerusalem.” Canaanites and Jebusites were there long before the Jews, even before Judaism was revealed.

The 108-page document quotes passages from the Old Testament to establish that “Jerusalem was always an Arab city” and notes that, “the Palestinian Arabs of today are largely the direct descendants of the indigenous Canaanite Arabs who were there over 5,000 years ago. Modern-day Arab Muslim and Christian Palestinian families (such as the “Kanaan” tribe, direct descendants of the Canaanites) are the oldest inhabitants of the land.”

The bolded quote makes it sound like the Torah mentions the "Arabs" as one of the Canaanite nations along with the Hamites, Canaanites and Jebusites. And indeed that is what the paper by the Jordanian Royal Aal Al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought says.

Obviously the Torah never mentions a nation called the "Arab" nation along with the nations that occupied the land of Canaan. The author made that up.

The paper's argument is contradictory and circular. It doesn't prove at all that Arabs were there - it merely asserts that Canaanites and Jebusites were Arabs, after saying that Arabs were separate from the Canaanites and Jebusites. Then it mentions how the Tanakh mentions that Canaan was inhabited by these nations as if that proves they are Arab.

It also brings as "proof" that "Jerusalem is mentioned by name in the Amarna Correspondence, a series of diplomatic letters between Canaanite city-state kings and their Egyptian overlords during the 14th century."

But no one disputes that the Torah says that it was the land of Canaan and that those nations lived there.. What the paper pretends to do, and fails, is find a connection between Jebusites and Arabs, or Canaanites and Arabs.

The word "Arab" is quite rare in the Hebrew scripture, and never refers to the residents of Canaan. A character named Geshem the Arabian is mentioned in Nehemiah; in Jeremiah 3:2 the word "Arab" is used as a synonym for "bandit."

The term was clearly known to the writers of the Hebrew scripture, and clearly none of them said that Canaan was an Arab land.

Clearly the authors of the paper knew this, and pretended that the Tanach said things it never says.

But why would we expect anything else?

Arab media have been very excited at the doom and gloom articles in Israeli and Western media predicting civil war or a collapse of Israeli society. Haaretz articles are especially prized and translated.

But it's been a couple of months, and the audience is thirsting for more.

Awad Deif Allah Almalahimah writes in Jordanian news site Khaberni his own expert analysis of how Israeli society is irrevocably split in two, based on his first-hand observations - 20 years ago in the West Bank.

It is quite clear that he has no idea what he is talking about, but his audience doesn't know that.

The Ashkenazi Jews of European origin live in and around Tel Aviv. They are a morally decadent society, with addiction to alcohol and drugs, prostitution, moral decay, homosexuality, sexual transformation, and other perversions and reprehensible things.

As for the fanatics, most of them are concentrated in the West Bank, especially in the areas of Hebron, Jerusalem, and other places, and the enemy has a goal for their concentration there. Here I will tell you some manifestations of religious intolerance:

During my more than seven visits to the West Bank, about two decades ago, I witnessed the concentration of Falasha Jews in Jerusalem, and their residence is confined to certain places, and they do not work in any work or jobs at all. And they consider them as breeding machines, as it is common to see a woman and a man accompanied by 10 children or more, as they walk in the street. Their clothes are shrouded in black - as are their hearts - and their beards are very long, which may reach the knee, and they wear their headscarves that indicate their fanaticism, and their women wear the veil, and no part of their bodies or faces appear, as if they were a copy of the backward terrorist organization ISIS - which had not appeared yet, Perhaps ISIS copied it from the Falasha Jews - yes, ISIS, the organization of the killers, a creation of America and Zionism to distort the great Islam. And the majority of the Falasha Jews, as I mentioned earlier, are given remunerative and generous salaries and benefits, without doing any work, and their services to the entity are represented in breeding new Zionists.

In addition to what I mentioned above from my personal observations, I will tell you what happened to the religious fanatics of the entity. Imagine that about 50,000 Zionist girls do not leave their homes unless they wear the veil. The prohibition of eating, selling, or dealing with pork began to spread. Separation of men and women began to spread in all places. The prohibition of women from working, obliging them to stay at home, and preventing them from going out except accompanied by a mahram began to spread, and strictness began to prohibit doing any work on Saturdays at all.

Contrasting this strict society, the other section is the secularists who brought with them the life of the West with all its vices.

...Accordingly, they are not a people, but rather a population with diverse cultures, religions, languages, customs, traditions, values, morals, and concepts. Because it is a mixed society of immigrants from most, if not all parts of the world. Nothing binds them absolutely except the illusion of the motherland. Where they came from: Western Europe / Eastern Europe / North America / South America / and the Middle East, including some Arab countries / India / Russia / Canada / South Africa / Ethiopia / Britain, and others.

They are not a real, interdependent, cohesive society, with calling for intimacy, coexistence, unity, and rejection of division. Rather, the population of the entity spreads dissonance, division that reaches the point of conflict, and the rejection of the other who came from origins that are not homogeneous, but discordant in everything. God willing, the seeds of the collapse, annihilation, and disappearance of this artificial entity lie in it.
Not to belittle the real problems in Israeli society, but Arab "experts" have been making the claim that Israel is not a real country but a collection of people with nothing in common since 1948.

The last sentence makes it clear that there is a lot of wishful thinking going on here.

By the way, notice how this writer says that Zionism created ISIS. A similar mindset can be seen in this article from Yemen that says that Zionism was behind the burning of the Quran in Sweden.

If you don't like it - it is Jewish (or "Zionist.")
