Ramy Abdu is chairman of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor and has been a regular speaker at the United Nations Human Rights Council.

He is also an antisemitic bigot.

Abdu tweeted this video, showing popular Israeli Orthodox singer Avraham Fried, wishing a sweet and happy New Year to the entire nation of Israel, with the soldiers of the Netzach Battalion then singing their own song repeating their name.

But Abdu, who was born in Gaza, chose to describe the events of the video quite differently from the reality, claiming that the "rabbi" and the soldiers were singing racist chants and insults against Muslims and Arabs.

His tweet was up for hours, even as dozens of people pointed out how Abdu was lying.

Abdu then silently deleted it and replaced it:

Two days later - no apology for his libel.

And he is a respected "human rights" figure.

One only needs one example like this to understand that nothing that Ramy Abdu or his organization says can be trusted. But there are lots of examples proving that Abdu is an antisemitic bigot and his organization similarly doesn't have any interest in facts.

The Committee of the National and Islamic Forces in Gaza is holding an "emergency meeting" today because of a comment made last month by the Commissioner-General of UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, last month.

What was the terrible thing Lazzarini said?

He suggested that UNRWA outsource some of its functions to other UN agencies (that have consistent budgets.)

He pointed out the obvious fact that UNRWA's expenses can only go up as they keep adding new "refugees" to their rolls and never take any off, nor do they have a mechanism to take anyone off. Right now UNRWA goes begging for donations every few months because otherwise it would close down.

Palestinians went crazy, saying that this would be the first step towards UNRWA's dissolution. Why does that matter if they continue to get their services? Glad you asked:
UNRWA is “not just about the delivery of services,” said Muhammed Shehada from the Swiss-based Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor.

“As long as UNRWA is there, it’s a reminder that the international community has a responsibility to solve the issue of Palestinian refugees,” he told AFP.
UNRWA is just a symbol of keeping the Palestinian "refugee" issue alive forever, as opposed to every single other refugee issue in history.

The arguments that Palestinians are using against UNRWA allowing others to provide services are delusional. They say that this is a violation of UNGA Resolution 302 that created UNRWA to begin with, which they claim gives UNRWA exclusivity in providing services.

UNGA 302 (1950) says no such thing. In fact, it days the opposite!

18. Urges the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, the International Refugee Organization, the World Health Organization, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and other appropriate agencies and private groups and organizations, in consultation with the Director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, to furnish assistance within the framework of the programme;
It also anticipates that UNRWA will only last a few years and that in the future the host countries would provide the same services UNRWA does. one of its two stated purposes in UNGA 302 is, "To consult with the interested Near Eastern Governments concerning measures to be taken by them preparatory to the time when international assistance for relief and works projects is no longer available."

As usual, the Palestinians are lying. UNRWA is not sacred and was never meant to be. It was meant to help the 1948 refugees until they were resettled and then disappear.

It isn't that asking other agencies for additional help violates UNGA 302. The very existence of UNRWA today, 42 years later, violates UNGA 302!

This video of Jews celebrating Simchat Torah in Hebron on Wednesday is causing a great deal of angst from bigoted Arabs who believe that Jews should be banned from Judaism's second holiest site.

Al Jazeera catalogued some of the reactions to this video.

This tweeter that they highlighted said, "The sons of Khazar are dancing around the Ibrahimi mosque burial site of Ibrahim(pbuh) patriach of the Arabs. These European Jews who have no connection to our father Ibrahim(pbuh) are testing the limits of the Arabs."

The Khazar myth is an antisemitic theory that says most Jews aren't really Jews.

The Palestinian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs condemned the celebration, claiming that "extremist groups used the Jewish holidays to desecrate the mosque through massive incursions, wearing religious clothes, in an attempt to perform Talmudic prayer and lying on the ground, deliberately provoking the feelings of Muslims."

Because why would Jews want to celebrate a holiday without deliberately provoking the feelings of Muslims?

But perhaps the most telling comment came from Ramy Abdu, the founder and chairman of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, who has given statements to the UN. We've shown the anti-Israel bias of the organization, but his comment leaves no doubt that the human rights of Jews are of no concern to him.

Abdu tweeted, "At dawn today, with the support of the occupation forces, herds of colonists storm the Ibrahimi Mosque in Khalil al-Rahman and perform Talmudic prayers!"

To this "human rights expert," Jews in groups are not human, but "herds" of animals. Performing Jewish prayers (which are virtually all "Talmudic") is a disgrace. Jews do not have any rights to their own holy places.

Dozens of responses curse the Jews for having the audacity of dancing - which is how Simchat Torah is celebrated.

A human rights leader is inciting violence against Jews. And no one says a word about it.

UPDATE: This news site says that the Jews converted the shrine into a "discotheque."

This morning, Ken Roth of Human Rights Watch tweeted this:

His source was the ridiculously biased Middle East Monitor which is essentially a Hamas/Muslim Brotherhood mouthpiece.

Middle East Monitor got the statistic from the equally biased Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, which wrote a report about it.

Actually, "report" is way too generous. It was essentially a ten page slideshow with minimal text.

Here is the "source:"

The small print says "Based on a random sample conducted by Euro-Med Monitor."

A random sample of whom?

There is no methodology described. Did they interview children? Parents? Doctors? How did they randomize the people they sampled? Who diagnosed them with trauma - psychiatrists or parents? What was the exact question asked?

We don't know.

What we do know is that the Euro Med Monitor has, in the past, has shown it is pro-terror and regularly lies about Gaza deaths. In fact, their most recent report on Gaza shows that the pattern continues. For example, it counts Bashar Ahmed Ibrahim Samour as an innocent child when Fatah refers to him as a "hero martyr."  It says

Killing four civilians in Nuseirat
On May 12, an Israeli aircraft bombed with a single missile a group of civilians in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip, killing four of them: Hamza Mahmoud Al-Hor, 25, Muhammad Abdel Moneim Shaheen, 27, and Muhammad Mu›in al-Qarah, 26, Ahmed Walid Al Talaa, 29.
All four of them were Islamic Jihad terrorists. Here are Shaheen and Talaa.

An NGO with a history of lying makes an unsupported claim based on no written methodology - and gets quoted by a leader of an international human rights group as being accurate.

Dr. Ramy Abdu is the founder and chairman of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, a Geneva-based NGO.

The organization is viciously anti-Israel, but this tweet from Abdu on Tuesday takes the cake.

Yesterday we discussed Israel's release of DFLP terrorist Rushdi Abu Mokh, who was part of a cell that kidnapped, tortured, mutilated and murdered 19 year old Moshe Tamam. He was given a hero's welcome in his home town, and Arab village in Israel.

Ramy Abdu was also enamored of this terrorist, tweeting this:

Aw, the poor terrorist wasn't released before his mother died! How cruel that Israel kept a person who helped castrate and gouge out the eyes of a Jew in prison!

Needless to say, torture and mutilation and murder and kidnapping and hostage taking are all violations of international humanitarian law - but this founder of a "human rights monitor" has no problem with any of those things when done by a Palestinian against a Jew.

He only shows sympathy for the monstrous terrorist and doesn't even admit that there was a victim.

We already knew that the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has nothing to do with human rights and only uses that issue as a weapon against the Jewish state. But rarely do we see such naked hypocrisy from the founder of a human rights NGO.

Here is the entire press release from the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor NGO regarding the mini-war this weekend in Gaza:

Geneva - We condemn in the strongest terms the Israeli air and artillery shelling of the Gaza Strip, which started on Saturday morning, May 4, 2019, said Sarah Pritchett, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor's spokeswoman. The Israeli strikes have resulted in the death of four civilians, including a pregnant mother and her child, the injury of more than 30 others, and the demolition of a residential building and 3 other buildings containing offices for media agencies, charities and shops.

The Israeli leadership has once again demonstrated its policy of using excessive force against 2 million civilians who have been besieged for more than 13 years. The Israeli authorities have not only deprived them of basic rights through the blockade, but by repeatedly targeting their person and property by airstrikes and shelling, in a clear disregard to all international conventions and treaties guaranteeing the protection of civilians in times of armed conflict.

The continuation of the Israeli army behavior towards the Gaza Strip of killing and targeting civilian objects and the continuation of the collective punishment policy through the blockade clearly represent war crimes under the Rome Statute and require a serious action to bring the perpetrators to justice.

We stress the necessity of urgent action by the United Nations and the actors in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to contain the escalation in the Gaza Strip before the situation deteriorates to a more serious level. We also warn that the catastrophic living conditions in the Strip are not likely to bear any further deterioration.
Obviously, to this "human rights" NGO, Jews have no human rights. Even the right to life. Four dead Jews and hundreds of deadly rockets are simply not worth mentioning.

Here are some of Euro-Med's partners, who are all damned by association to an organization that is clearly a propaganda front and not interested in human rights at all:

Some are fake organizations, like the "European Youth for Human Rights" who cannot spell "Rights" and whose Facebook page has not been updated in nearly a year.

Others are serious NGOs, like Friedrich Ebert Stiftung. They should be asked why (or if!) they partner with Euro-Med.

Not surprisingly, the Chairman of Euro-Med's Board of Trustees is Israel-hater Richard Falk.

Here is a video showing Arabs learning how to edit Wikipedia entries. (The HP computers are especially interesting.)

The logo behind the operators shows that the office is at the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, an anti-Israel NGO that I believe gets funding from many European nations and other NGOs.

If you look up this program at the Euro-Med Monitor site, you will see that they claim merely that they aim "to improve [Wikipedia] content with information on human rights."

But if you look at how the project is described in Arabic news sites, you find out the truth:

The Euro - Mediterranean office in the Gaza Strip launched in the middle of October a "Wikipedia Palestine" project, in cooperation with the Arab Center for the Development of Social Media, which aims to create a cadre of activists and editors for  the encyclopedia "Wikipedia."
Rawan Abu-Assad, who coordinates social media in the Euro - Mediterranean Observatory, talks about the new project:
What are the goals of "Wikipedia Palestine" project?
"Euro-Mediterranean" is seeking through the project to enrich the content of human rights in the free encyclopedia "Wikipedia", promoting the narrative of victims of Israeli violations in the Palestinian territories to present them before the other party's [Israeli] narrative.
We've seen the work of Euro-Med before, and they are anything but objective, and the only human rights they care about are the ones they can use as weapons against Israel, no matter how absurd the claims.

A couple of years ago there was an uproar when Israelis were teaching activists how to use Wikipedia to help hasbara efforts. You can be sure that there will be no outcry about this, even though the goals are explicitly to bash Israel.

(h/t Ibn Boutros)

UPDATE: An earlier version of this post mixed up the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor and the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network, which are two separate NGOs. I am not yet certain where this group gets its funding from.

We have lots of ideas, but we need more resources to be even more effective. Please donate today to help get the message out and to help defend Israel.
