The graves of Palestinian leaders Ahmed Jibril and Khalil al-Wazir (Abu Jihad) were destroyed in the Martyrs' Cemetery in Yarmouk Camp, south of Damascus, in an incident that sparked a wave of anger and condemnation in Palestinian and Syrian circles.Local sources reported that, in recent days, unknown assailants destroyed the tombstone of Ahmed Jibril, founder of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command (PFLP-GC), who is accused of participating alongside former Syrian regime forces in the siege of Yarmouk Camp and Eastern Ghouta during the war.The tomb of prominent Fatah leader Khalil al-Wazir, known as "Abu Jihad," was also vandalized. He was one of the most prominent architects of the first Palestinian intifada, which erupted in December 1987, and a prominent military leader in the Palestine Liberation Organization.
