Yesterday there was one of the regular anti-Israel rallies in central London. But at the demonstration we see
these signs:
That
particular sign with Ayatollah Khamenei saying "Choose the right side of history" was created by the London-based
Islamic Human Rights Commission.
The irony of that name in light of the murder of thousands of Iranian protesters is almost too much to bear. They are the real resistance, but the "Resistance by any means necessary" signs only apply to those who repress freedom.
Not coincidentally, Khamenei
wrote an antisemitic letter to student protesters in 2024 congratulating them on joining the "resistance front" by saying, "The global Zionist elite – who owns most US and European media corporations or influences them through funding and bribery – has labeled this courageous, humane resistance movement as 'terrorism'." And in the same letter he said, "As the page of history is turning,
you are standing on the right side of it."
The "human rights protesters" are not bothered by this at all. I see no pushback from within the supposedly pro-peace, pro-justice, pro-Palestinian movements about being allies with the worst repressors of human rights in the world today.
Claiming to be on the right side of history and actually being there are two very different things .
