Seth Mandel: Biden’s Missed Opportunity
President Biden spoke late this morning at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum on anti-Semitism, and while he missed the opportunity to deliver a still-needed rebuke to his own party, Biden did manage to avoid repeating the two biggest mistakes he’s made on this issue: the false equivalence and the “legitimate grievance” trap.

Last month, for example, he demonstrated both blunders in the same answer to a question about the anti-Semitic protesters at various U.S. college campuses: “I condemn the anti-semitic protests… I also condemn those who don’t understand what’s going on with the Palestinians.”

There, in one breath, the president gave equivalent condemnation of those committing anti-Jewish violence and those who lack sufficient empathy for the violent anti-Semitic protesters. Underlying it all is the idea that the protesters have a legitimate grievance with their victims.

It was the closest the president has come to his own “there are very fine people on both sides” moment.

Fact is, Jews are being openly harassed in the U.S. as retribution for something the protesters are falsely accusing the state of Israel of doing thousands of miles away. That’s it—that’s the whole scene. There is, in other words, no possible justification for the actions of these pro-Hamas extremists. There is no “both sides.”

Similarly, we all know exactly what Gaza has to do with the guy who threw a bottle at a Jewish man’s head at the Columbia gates and told him to “go back to Poland”: Nothing at all.

The examples go on for days, but the point is clear: Anti-Semitic violence as a response to the war in Gaza is indefensible on any level. Linking the two as some sort of cause-effect equation is nothing less than making anti-Semites’ arguments for them.

However, why would Dawber expect the US president, in a speech commemorating the systematic murder of six million Jews by the Nazis, mention Palestinians?

There are many ways to read this, but, given the context, as well as having covered the journalist’s writing over the years, it seems to be a way of legitimising the odious canard that Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza. It also reflects a broader media pattern of centering Palestinians in articles about antisemitism, such as when reports on efforts to promote the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism includes complaints that IHRA will ‘silence’ Palestinian voices. This is particularly absurd narrative given that Palestinians are, based on polling, among most antisemitic people on the globe.

But, in the context of the war, the Times journalist’s framing also likely represents an effort to pushback at Biden’s correct assessment that, on Oct, 7, the Palestinian terror group which runs Gaza carried out the most lethal and barbaric (trigger warning) antisemitic atrocity since the Holocaust.

In fact, Biden’s speech included the observation that “That [ancient antisemitic] hatred was brought to life on October 7th in 2023. On a sacred Jewish holiday, the terrorist group Hamas unleashed the deadliest day of the Jewish people since the Holocaust.” The president also said that “Too many people denying, downplaying, rationalizing, ignoring the horrors of the Holocaust and October 7th, including Hamas’s appalling use of sexual violence to torture and terrorize Jews.”

Dawber’s insistence on downplaying antisemitism is also evident in a sentence further into the article:

The current radical and often violent protests on mostly blue-state, supposedly elite campuses have exposed in toxic fashion what the left has become. And yet, in a paradoxical fashion, the campus insanity has offered the nation some moral clarity.

What’s surprising is not that the demonstrators are violent and nihilist, but that they are, on the one hand, so openly and crudely anti-Semitic, racist, and anti-American, and yet on the other hand, so passive-aggressive, narcissistic, and weepy.

Nevertheless, the antics of the campus cry-bullies have exploded myths that were for so long foisted on the American people by politicos and the media.

#1. Anti-Israel/Anti-Semitic: We have been lectured ad nauseam that hating Israel has nothing to do with anti-Semitism. The last month has blown up that old shibboleth for good. The left makes no distinction in their eliminationist chants between Israel and Jews. “Go back to Poland” is a homonym for “From the River to the Sea.” Both are shorthand for eliminating Jews—aside from the explicit threats to kill Jews and occasional praise for Hitler and the Final Solution.

When pro-Hamas thugs chase Jews into libraries, block their entrances on campus, and scream “beat the Jew” as they hit piñatas, they do not first ask Jews whether they support Israel—because they could care less. For the Islamist Middle Easterner on a student visa or green card and his useful American student, it is enough that their targets are Jewish—period.

Remember, the protests started on October 7, not on October 27, when the IDF went into Gaza. At that point, campus and street protests merely changed from euphoric triumphalism on the news that Hamas had slaughtered, decapitated, mutilated, raped, or kidnapped hundreds of Jews (“exhilarated,” a Cornell professor gushed of the carnage), to furor and violence. So after three weeks of celebrating dead Jews, the street protests grew furious only when the IDF finally began fighting back and destroying Hamas, even as its terrorists cowardly hid beneath mosques, hospitals, and schools to ensure enough collateral damage to incite pro-Hamas Western throngs.

#2. Pro-Palestinian/Pro-Hamas: The left also blew up the ancient pretense that being “pro-Palestine” was not “pro-Hamas.” But the campus and street demonstrations now make no distinction between the two. The calls for the destruction of Israel and “death to America” come right out of the Hamas credo. Hamas (and Hezbollah as well) logos and flags are easy to find among the protestors. Interviews with the protesters repeatedly reveal massive support for Hamas, to the extent of staging lessons in hand-to-hand combat.

Polls in the Middle East still show strong Gazan support for their one-election/one-time Hamas autocracy. Apparently, any anger that Gazans bear toward Hamas for destroying the peace on October 7, wrecking their state, and getting civilians killed by using them as human shields is outweighed by the plus side on their ledger of the murder of 1200 Jewish civilians. In other words, the campus protests promote the fascistic, terrorist Hamas clique because of, not despite, its murder of Jewish civilians.

Hamas propaganda – the mass graves of Nasser Hospital
As part of the move south, the Israeli forces began to close in on the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis. In mid-January fighting between Israel and the terrorist factions became intense in the *vicinity* of the hospital. Hamas propaganda channels were reporting dozens of casualties by January 22. On the same day, Palestinians began burying the bodies (almost certainly mostly dead terrorists) in the grounds of the hospital:

Videos were released showing them ‘burying their martyrs’. A week later, on the 27th & 28th January – along with undated evidence presented in additional footage – we are told by Hamas channels that more bodies were buried in the grounds of the Nasser Complex. One Hamas (QNN) post claimed an additional 150 bodies were buried (January 27th).

Therefore, Hamas claimed that in the last weeks of January 2024, over 200 bodies were buried by Palestinians in the courtyard of Nasser Medical Complex. Most of them almost certainly dead terrorists.

The creation and spread of fake news
On the evening of April 20th (close to midnight Gaza time), Hamas propaganda channels (eg QNN) began reporting on a mass grave being found on the grounds of Nasser hospital in Gaza. By the morning, hundreds of bodies were reported to have been found.

At 10:07am (Gaza time) on April 21st Al Jazeera English spread the story around the globe. By 17:30, Al Jazeera was reporting that at least 180 bodies had been found. Al Jazeera showed footage of Palestinians digging up the bodies, and claimed that Israeli forces carried out the massacre.

Hamas was now blaming Israel for mass graves which they themselves had reported were dug in January by Palestinians following a battle between Israeli forces and Hamas!

Amateur, blatant, stupid
The fake news story being promoted by Hamas was obvious from the start. Al Jazeera picked it up because it is a Hamas mouthpiece. But to any decent journalist or reporter, the attempt was amateurish, blatant and stupid. All anyone had to do was compare images between the January and April incidents.


UNRWA caught stealing, selling humanitarian aid - UN Watch
UNRWA has been caught stealing and then selling humanitarian aid that came into Gaza that was intended to be given to Palestinian civilians, UN Watch reported on Wednesday, citing reports published by Palestinians in "an UNRWA-related chatroom."

The Watch report also claims that those who report UNRWA's actions with the humanitarian aid "face reprisals."

According to the report, Palestinians claimed that staff working for the UN agency “have their homes full of aid.” Additionally, a UNRWA warehouse chief sold 50 cartons of food for $5,000.

Items such as pampers, canned sweets, and tissues were sold at a UNRWA school door. This comes amid statement by UNRWA Commissioner-General Phillipe Lazzarini, who was quoted in the UN Watch report saying “there is more food available… it still does not mean that the food is accessible” as he was calling countries to increase direct cash assistance to Gazans.

Looking closer into UNRWA's exposure
Former UNRWA employee Haitham al-Sayyed ran the chatroom that exposed the agency's theft and selling of aid. The UN Watch reported that he had "created several chat rooms for staff and educators to share posts, many of which feature antisemitism, incitement to hatred and Jihadi terrorism" during the near two decades he worked for the agency.

However, today, he disseminates information about UNRWA salaries in his chatrooms, which the Watch also reports that thousands of UNRWA employees were celebrating Iran's drone attacks on Israel.

UNRWA staff are stealing aid and selling it for profit, while those who report it face reprisals, according to numerous reports published by Palestinians in an UNRWA-related chatroom.

The posts expose a deep frustration by employees that senior UNRWA employees are engaged in the abuses, and that the agency is doing nothing about it. This comes amid a recent call by UNRWA Commissioner-General Phillipe Lazzarini for countries to increase direct cash assistance to Gazans because, although “there is more food available… it still does not mean that the food is accessible.”

The chatroom is run by a former UNRWA employee, Haitham al-Sayyed, who was removed from UNRWA in 2016 after he publicly called out the agency for hiding an UNRWA school map that denied the existence of Israel, covered up with a white cloth to hide it from the cameras while UN chief Ban Ki-moon was holding a press conference in June 2016.

In the 17 years he worked for UNRWA, al-Sayyed created several chat rooms for staff and educators to share posts, many of which feature antisemitism, incitement to hatred and Jihadi terrorism.

Today, al-Sayyed continues to operate these chat rooms where he disseminates information about UNRWA salaries and other agency news relevant to employees. Despite recent scrutiny of UNRWA promotion of terorism, and promises of reform, the chat rooms continue to thrive with posts from thousands of employees who were recently celebrating Iran’s attack on Israel.

UNRWA Staff Stealing Aid
A key recent topic is the stealing and reselling of free humanitarian aid by UNRWA employees.

While Haitham al-Sayyed was supposedly fired from UNRWA, he is still considered by many in the chat rooms as an important figure in the organization who holds sway with the senior administration. UNRWA staff, frustrated by inaction and even complicity of senior staff in these thefts, have thus resorted to sharing heir grievances to Haitham in the hope that he can get UNRWA’s top officials to listen.

On January 6th, Haitham posted the following message, as sent to him by an UNRWA employee which outlines these allegations in detail (names have been redacted by Haitham):
“I am an agency employee working in the emergency at a shelter school… In fact, out of honesty and speaking the word of truth, I agreed with my colleagues to tell the truth, I am completely dissatisfied with the school administration and its honesty in distributing aid due to the thefts, perhaps this was the fault of the official who had the responsibility of choosing a good man to manage the center, unfortunately, the center is managed by a teacher… the displaced people in the external shelter do not get their right to food and non-food aid, but rather it is distributed at night and sold in front of our eyes, for example with baby pampers, which we were surprised the next day that 150 bags were distributed at night and some of the displaced people did not get their right to it, and everyone who speaks is transferred, including Mr. A. Raed Al … And A. Awad…

They did not tolerate what happened in the school, especially the theft of diesel, as our school remained for more than a month without electricity or it came for a few minutes under the pretext that the motor was in another school, and the thief was exposed and the principal was informed, but to this day he is still working with us so that I feel like vomiting when I see him.

The biggest motivation to publish this letter is because of a young engineer with great morals who was in charge of the school. He was in charge of the store, and because he prevented the attempted theft in the store by the night administration, but then he was arbitrarily transferred on charges of embezzlement, this burned our hearts for him because he is the only trustee in the school. I add another piece of information for you the evening manager was at Khawla School, but its morning manager transferred him, and unfortunately, the morning administration is handled by a female teacher… Unfortunately, she did not take any steps to stop these crimes until we became suspicious that she is complicit with them, and unfortunately, this evening manager had a hand and support in the operations, so it was very easy for him to transfer whoever he wants on charges of embezzlement.

I tell you of another example that happened before my eyes on the day of the distribution of rice meals, where two bags of rice rolls were hidden in the administration cabinets and the displaced people were deprived of it, I did not find anyone to whom I could disclose this secret, so I really ask you to send our complaint with names to whoever can take over the investigation inside this shelter, especially in the non-food aid department.

Yesterday, we visited the monitoring department and there was an imbalance in the number of tarpaulins, where the director gave a number other than the number provided by the person who keeps the tarpaulins in his private room, to our surprise there were 16 undistributed tarpaulins and this is what disturbed us, why were they kept? Is it for sale? Note that in front of my eyes, more than one person came to ask for a tarp, so I ask you to communicate this speech to those in charge to open an investigation to reach all IDPs, whether inside or outside the shelter.”


Unprecedented Palestinian Bid at U.N. Aims for State-Like Status, Sidestepping Security Council Veto
Palestinian officials are planning to use a legal loophole in United Nations procedures to gain almost all the benefits of full membership in the General Assembly as they propose a resolution for territory status with full state rights, circumventing a Security Council veto after being blocked by the United States.

If passed, the resolution would lead to significant reductions in United States funding for the U.N., as required by American law.

In a renewed push for international recognition, the Palestinian leadership is steering a new strategy following the United States’ veto of their bid for full statehood at the U.N. Security Council. They are now proposing a resolution to the U.N. General Assembly, seeking to be recognized as a territory, a status that would afford them rights and privileges similar to those of a sovereign state, including the right to vote on U.N. matters.

The proposed status, which bypasses the need for Security Council approval and thereby circumvents any potential vetoes, follows the recent U.S. rejection of a U.N. proposal to recognize “Palestine” as a member state. While granting Palestinians state rights, the move would also raise concerns about setting precedents for other territories.

In an effort to counter the unprecedented Palestinian request, which could be voted on this week, Israel has ramped up global diplomatic efforts, with Israeli diplomats instructed to lobby against the Palestinian bid, noting that it deviates from standard U.N. protocols, which typically require a Security Council nod for changes in state status, according to Ynet.

The Israeli government has voiced concerns over the ongoing situation in Gaza, prioritizing the immediate and unconditional release of its hostages being held by Hamas and urging international condemnation of the terrorist organization.

In addition, Israel claims that supporting the resolution could potentially embolden Iran and its proxy groups.

Amid diplomatic exchanges, Israeli Ambassador Gilad Erdan sharply criticized the U.N.’s approach, suggesting that the approval of the Palestinian proposal would showcase the U.N.’s detachment from reality and its inadvertent support for terrorism.

Erdan also expressed hope that if the resolution passes, it would lead to significant consequences, including possible changes in American funding for the U.N., in line with American law.

“The next time Palestinian terrorists burn whole Israeli families alive, their ashes will be on the hands of every single nation that votes to tell them: barbaric terrorism helps advance your cause,” wrote former Israeli government spokesman Eylon Levy on the matter.
The Democrat Party’s Antisemitism Went Mainstream With Barack Obama
For a man who has never been shy about sharing his sanctimonious opinions, former President Barack Obama has been noticeably quiet about anti-Israel anarchists’ takeover of U.S. college campuses.

On Monday, Columbia University — Obama’s alma mater — announced it will not host its university-wide commencement ceremony for this year’s graduating class. That appears to be a response to the pro-Hamas demonstrations that have engulfed the school for weeks. The announcement came days after the university (finally) permitted law enforcement to arrest participants unlawfully occupying a school building.

One would imagine the erection of illegal encampments and harassment of Jewish students at Columbia and other American universities would prompt outcry from any former president. Donald Trump, for example, has repeatedly condemned these demonstrators and their anti-Israeli sentiments. But for Obama, the task is seemingly too difficult.

Since the launch of the Columbia encampments last month, Obama has issued a smattering of posts on X, none of which address leftists’ takeover of campuses throughout the country. While the former president wished Jews a happy Passover on April 22, he couldn’t be bothered to condemn the antisemitic behavior on display at his alma mater or any of America’s post-secondary institutions. Obama’s Checkered Past

It goes without saying that if the aforementioned demonstrators were “MAGA Republicans” protesting an Islamic country and harassing Muslim students, legacy media “journalists” would be relentlessly spamming the phone lines and emails of every GOP official in the country asking for condemnation. They will never hold Democrats to the same standard, and their refusal to call out Obama for ignoring the leftist occupation of universities shows it.

While the media’s inaction isn’t surprising, neither is Obama’s silence. Obama’s decision to remain mum on the issue is representative of his behavior and the individuals encompassing him throughout his life.

Allegations of Obama indulging antisemitism have existed long before he became president. Last year, for example, Tablet Magazine’s David Samuels published a lengthy expose based on a question-and-answer interview with David Garrow, a longtime civil rights historian who authored a biography on Obama in 2017 titled Rising Star.

In his book, Garrow documented an argument between Obama and his longtime Chicago girlfriend, Sheila Miyoshi Jager. It allegedly started because the future president refused to condemn antisemitism and black nationalism.

The dispute occurred after the two reportedly visited “an exhibit at Chicago’s Spertus Institute about the 1961 trial of Adolf Eichmann,” a Nazi who played a major role in organizing the Holocaust. It was during this time, according to Samuels, that Chicago politics was engulfed in controversy after Steve Cokely, a black mayoral aide, “accused Jewish doctors in Chicago of infecting Black babies with AIDS as part of a genocidal plot against African Americans.”

“In Jager’s recollection, what set off the quarrel that precipitated the end of the couple’s relationship was Obama’s stubborn refusal, after seeing the exhibit, and in the swirl of this Cokely affair, to condemn Black racism,” Samuels wrote. “While acknowledging that Obama’s embrace of a Black identity had created some degree of distance between the couple, she insisted that what upset her that day was Obama’s inability to condemn Cokely’s comments.”

“It was not Obama’s Blackness that bothered her, but that he would not condemn antisemitism,” Samuels added.
Seth Mandel: Sympathy for the Palestinians Is Scarce at the Tentifada
“I work too hard, I care too much, and sometimes I can be too invested in my job,” Michael Scott, Steve Carell’s character on The Office, tells his boss, describing his supposed weaknesses. And his strengths? “My weaknesses are actually strengths.”

This is, essentially, how mainstream political reporters are approaching the challenge of campus pro-Hamas protesters. “Why is the simplest explanation of campus protests so hard to accept?” asks the headline on a Philip Bump column for the Washington Post. That simplest explanation? That young people just care so darn much about the Palestinians. “Why is that ignored?”

There are an array of answers to Bump’s question but we can start with the simplest: Reporters asked the protesters why they were there, and the protesters didn’t know. Literally. As I wrote recently:
Here is the response of an NYU protester when asked what the main goal of the protest is: “I think the goal is just showing our support for Palestine and demanding that NYU stops—I honestly don’t know all of what NYU’s doing.”

She then turns for help to a fellow protester and asks “Do you know what NYU’s doing?”

“About what?” responds Protester 2.

“About Israel,” says Protester 1. “Why are we protesting?”

To which Protester 2 says: “I wish I was more educated.”

When students were polled on the phrase “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” fewer than half of those who said they support the phrase could name the river and the sea.

Recently, Peggy Noonan asked one of the campers at the protest for her perspective, and the young lady responded: “I’m not trained.” Thus ensued a chorus of progressive pundits insisting that the student’s admitted ignorance of the talking points surrounding her protest was a stroke of brilliance, because such passionate demonstrators should always defer to trained public-relations professionals when asked if they know why they are standing where they are standing.

It’s easy to laugh at this spin, and in fact it is important to laugh at this spin, because it is hilarious. But the idea that cogs should defer to the media arm of their movement suggests it’s not really a spontaneous protest by people who, per Michael Scott and Philip Bump, simply care too much. What they are describing is a professional organization atop a warm body of lemmings.
No one would tolerate what is happening to Jews on college campuses if it were any other minority group
Things are different in Texas and Florida.

At the University of Texas at Austin, the Assistant Chief of Campus Police, a man named Shane Streepy, posted to X that protestors are in violation of multiple penal code sections, and ordered his officers to arrest protestors.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has urged Florida colleges and universities to enforce their codes of conduct and break-up the anti-Jew protests, calling it a matter of will.

The cowardly response to pro-terrorist protests by the administrators of most of America’s college and university campuses begs a very important question. Instead of Jews, what if people were protesting against black, transgender, or gay students?

What if students at a southern university occupied the school’s football stadium, chanting, “from sea to shining sea, America will be free. Blacks, go back to Africa?”

What if students at a college in Oklahoma occupied the school’s administration building, demanding the school expel transgender and gay students because they feel those students are an affront to God?

Even worse, what if those students demanded the elimination of these minority groups?

Those colleges and universities would call the state police and the National Guard to arrest and prosecute those students. Those protestors would all immediately be expelled, doxed, and no longer allowed to participate in polite society.

How is this different than protestors demanding the elimination of Israel by chanting “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free?”

How is that different than telling Jewish students to “go back to Poland?”

We are at a tipping point in America. Will we accept the racism of pro-terrorist protestors who want to eliminate the Jewish population, or will we support the rights of a minority group that is being oppressed?

Revealed: NUS delegates call for expulsion of main Jewish group
Delegates at a National Union of Students (NUS) conference voted in a breakout meeting to stop recognising their Jewish members’ main representative body because of its support for Israel, the JC can reveal.

The non-binding vote against the continued affiliation of the Union of Jewish Students (UJS) was carried overwhelmingly at the NUS conference in Blackpool last month during a session that began with calls to “dismantle” the Jewish state as a “racist project of colonialism”.

Lord Mann, the government adviser on antisemitism, said he was appalled by the move and promised it would not succeed.

“In the 1980s extremists started banning Jewish societies. We beat them. And today we will beat the extremists again. UJS will stand strong and proud and we will stand with UJS,” he said.

Fears that anti-Israel student activism in the UK has stepped up amid the US campus riots – with protest camps already set up at 15 universities – have prompted Education Secretary Gillian Keegan to call an emergency meeting with vice-chancellors this week to discuss what can be done to better protect Jewish students and staff.

At the Oxford protest camp, participants have been asked to agree that as a “colonised” people, Palestinians have the “right to resist against occupation”.

They have also been told they must support the Thawabit, a set of demands issued by the Palestine Liberation Organisation in the 1970s that would lead to the end of the Jewish state, including a right of return for six million Palestinian refugees and their descendants. One Jewish student was reportedly refused entry to the camp when he declined.
Gaza conflict the least important issue for most US college students says study
Anti-Israel protestors on on US college campuses are in the minority according to new polling data.

Very few students consider Israel’s war in Gaza as a top priority, compared with other issues, and less than 10 per cent of students have participated in the controversial demonstrations over the war in Gaza, a new survey from Axios has revealed.

A representative sample of 1,250 US college students were quizzed by polling and statistical analysis company, The Generation Lab, between May 3 and 6 about their views.

Students were asked to rank nine different issues in order of importance.

Overall, conflict in the Middle East was ranked the least important issue facing students, falling behind health care reform, racial justice and civil rights, economic fairness and opportunity, education funding and access, and climate change.

The survey also found that three times as many students blamed Hamas for the situation in Gaza than US President Joe Biden. 34 per cent of respondents blamed Hamas for the war, while 19 per cent blame Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, 12 per cent blame the Israeli people and 12 per cent blame Biden.

A majority (81 per cent) of students said that they supported holding protesters accountable, agreeing that those who destroyed property or illegally occupied buildings should be held responsible by their university.

Two-thirds of respondents said occupying campus buildings was unacceptable and more than half (58 per cent) said it was unacceptable for students to refuse a university's order to disperse a protest or occupation.

The vast majority (90 per cent) of respondents said blocking pro-Israel students from parts of campus was unacceptable.
Anti-Israel campus agitators could be shipped to Gaza for at least 6 months under new bill
A new House Republican bill would send any person charged and convicted for illegal activity on a college campus to Gaza for at least six months.

Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., introduced the bill on Wednesday alongside Reps. Randy Weber, R-Texas, and Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., in response to the ongoing anti-Israel demonstrations on college campuses across the country.

Several of those protests have turned violent, with clashes between police and activists, as well as hundreds of activists being arrested across multiple campuses.

While Ogles' bill text does not mention Israel or the anti-Israel groups, it specifically targets unlawful activity on college campuses after Oct. 7, 2023, when Hamas militants invaded Israel in a surprise attack that killed over 1,000 people.

Those convicted would be forced to serve a minimum six-month community service sentence in Gaza, where Israel is currently waging a brutal campaign to eradicate Hamas and rescue the remaining Israelis that terrorists took hostage in October.

"Students have abandoned their classes to harass other students and disrupt campus-wide activities, including university commencement ceremonies nationwide. Enough is enough," Ogles told Fox News Digital.

"That’s why I introduced legislation to send any person convicted of unlawful activity on the campus of an American university since October 7th, 2023, to Gaza to complete a minimum of six months of community service."
The antisemitic lie at the heart of too many campus protests
During a recent visit to the student encampment at Columbia University, Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota made what she may have thought was an enlightened statement. “We should not have to tolerate antisemitism or bigotry for all Jewish students,” she declared, “whether they are pro-genocide or anti-genocide.” Omar, whose daughter was arrested in the protests, appeared to be implying that students who back Israel’s actions in Gaza are supporters of genocide.

The claim, the chants, the smearing of President Joe Biden as “Genocide Joe” (to former President Donald Trump’s delight) for his support for Israel are part of an astonishingly successful campaign to paint Israel’s defensive war against Hamas as an act of genocide.

The charge is not just absurd, it’s outrageous. Yet incredibly, it’s a smear that has gained traction.

Yes, Israel has killed thousands of Palestinians following the Hamas attacks of October 7. The suffering of the population in Gaza is heartbreaking, horrific. And Israel may not have done everything it could to minimize the civilian death toll. But the leap to brand its military campaign as a genocide — the depth of humanity’s depravity — is unconscionable.

Many people see, as I do, a direct connection in the genocide accusations to a centuries’ old calumny that has bedeviled the Jewish people, used since the Middle Ages to taunt them and even to justify massacring and exiling them. It’s called the blood libel, and it has long helped fuel the apparently undying fires of antisemitism.

The original blood libel claimed that Jews murdered Christians, particularly children, so they could use their blood in rituals. It may sound laughable, ridiculous, but across hundreds of years many have believed it. Some still do. CNN’s Wolf Blitzer confronted a Hamas official on air in 2014 about his assertion that Jews use Christian blood in the matzo they eat at Passover.

Over the centuries, this defamation gave rise to other well-worn antisemitic tropes — that Jews are vampires, blood-suckers and organ-harvesters. Images of Jews and Stars of David dripping blood have cropped up repeatedly since October 7.

Indeed, too many today are willing to assume the worst possible motives for the actions of Jews — or in this case, the Jewish state — making the historical blood libel the heir to an ever-evolving series of modern slanders culminating in genocide.


UPenn student: ‘I know I’m unsafe,’ anti-Israel activists plan escalation
DESPITE THE administration’s inaction, “We know the administration already believes the encampment is unsafe,” said Yakoby, since it had issued a statement on April 26 against violence and harassment, though the student noted that the problem had only intensified.

“Blatant violations of University policies and credible reports of harassing and intimidating conduct compel us to protect the safety and security of our campus community,” said a statement by interim president J. Larry Jameson and other administrators. “The vandalism of the statue in front of College Hall with antisemitic graffiti was especially reprehensible and will be investigated as a hate crime. As we have repeatedly emphasized, we will uphold free speech and the productive exchange of ideas, but we will not allow any actions that harass, threaten, or intimidate others.”

Yakoby said that since that statement, the administration had not communicated with the rest of the school on the issue, providing no leadership. Jameson issued a statement on Monday, calling for de-escalation and an end to the encampment, as “it is causing fear for many in our large, diverse community, especially among our Jewish students. But any response to the encampment must balance possible escalation of the current situation with the need to protect the safety and rights of everyone.”

“We are concerned that many of the protesters occupying the encampment on College Green are seeking such a confrontation. We have heard reports of circulating documents with instructions for escalating a protest, including through building occupations and violence,” said Jameson, listing almost all the dangers that had been related by Yakoby, expressing concern that non-student activists had joined the encampment.

Penn Freedom School for Palestine shared the encampment’s response on Monday, charging that he had not been negotiating in good faith and rejecting the idea that the settlement posed a threat, blaming counter-protesters for any confrontations.

“We are a nonviolent gathering of students and community members,” said the encampment. “By clearly prioritizing the safety of certain Penn students over others, you have deepened our community divide more than our movement ever could.”

Yakoby took to social media on Tuesday to dismiss the administration’s statement as “meaningless words,” and that since the encampment had grown and protesters had chanted “we don’t want no Zionists here” and one activist called to “Kill the Zionists.”

The violent statements join others related by Yakoby, including calling Jewish counterprotesters “Hitler Youth,” “Hitler’s children,” and “Zios get f**ked.”

Yakoby said that he was frustrated with the administration, which he believed had made a mistake by not removing the encampment immediately. This failure continued with a lack of action because of “moral indifference” and “a lack of courage.”

“Listen to your students, stick by your words, and ensure that the core academic mission of the university is upheld,” Yakoby called upon the administration.


Middlebury Calls for Ceasefire in Gaza While Staying Mum on Hostages and Hamas
Middlebury College on Monday caved to demands from student protesters to call for an "immediate ceasefire" in Gaza—but not for the release of the remaining hostages held there.

In an agreement struck with pro-Palestinian demonstrators, who had set up an encampment on the school’s main green, Middlebury president Laurie Patton issued a statement condemning "the destruction and debilitation of educational institutions" in Gaza as a result of the carnage.

"We call for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the violence," Patton wrote on behalf of the Middlebury administration. Though she mentioned in passing the Israeli hostages in Gaza, she did not call for their release or acknowledge they are being held by Hamas, whose name does not appear in the statement.

Middlebury did not respond to a request for comment.

The one-sided statement comes as Middlebury, one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country, is under investigation by the U.S. Department of Education for allegedly discriminating against its Jewish students, some of whom filed a federal civil rights complaint against the school in February.

The complaint contains a laundry list of examples of the school treating Jewish students differently from their Muslim or Christian peers. Shortly after Hamas’s Oct. 7 rampage, for example, Middlebury sought to purge a vigil for the victims of any references to Judaism, suggesting it would be "more inclusive" to include language about "all the innocent lives lost." The school eschewed that "inclusive" approach one month later when it approved a "Vigil for Palestine" hosted by Muslim students, which began with an Islamic prayer and included remarks from Middlebury’s top diversity officer, Khuram Hussain.

Other examples of bias include the college’s refusal to approve more than one Jewish student group despite recognizing at least six different clubs for Christian students.

A religious education teacher at a Catholic girls' school has been suspended and reported to the police after he posted a slew of vile tweets saying Hamas 'committed no crime'.

Ronan Preastuin, a year 9 tutor at Ursuline High School, a Catholic girls' school in Wimbledon, South London, took to X in since deleted posts to praise the terrorist organisation's actions on October 7.

He declared the event a 'justified act of resistance', called for 'Glory to Hamas', 'the freedom fighters and defenders of humanity', and added: 'The destruction of the racist state of #Isarel [sic] is coming soon.'

The Telegraph has reported that the teacher has been suspended and that police probe is ongoing, as well as an internal investigation.

The situation was brought to light by campaigner at UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLI) who shared screenshots of the grotesque tweet with the headmaster, Eoin Kelly.

Caroline Turner, a director at UKLI argued Mr Preastuin was 'an extremely dangerous individual', who was potentially abusing his 'authority over his students, and may well encourage them to follow his own beliefs, as well as stir up racial hatred against Jews and Israelis.'

On March 31 he wrote: ' Glory to #Hamas and freedom for humanity. Victory over the imperialist racists. The destruction of the racist state of Israel is coming soon.

Then on April 8 he said: ' We stand shoulder to shoulder with #Hamas #Palestine who have been invaded by American and European colonisers masquerading as a Jewish State.'

Speaking to MailOnline Headmaster Kelly said: 'We were made aware of an allegation in the public domain against one of our members of staff last Tuesday.

'Immediately on receiving that they were reported to the police.

'And as soon as we were made aware of allegation we suspended them.

'As this is now part of an ongoing police investigation my staff and I are unable to comment further.'


University of Queensland: Female pro-Palestine supporter is caught committing a disgusting act inside a lecturer's office
A female pro-Palestinian protester broke into a university academic's office and urinated on the floor, the disgusted lecturer claims.

The incident took place at Brisbane's University of Queensland St Lucia campus last Wednesday, with police officers attending at around 3pm and escorting a 23-year-old woman off campus before fining her for trespassing.

Signs were also left in the ransacked office demanding the academic, who has Jewish connections but did not wish to be named, resign.

'Upon arrival, police located a 23-year-old West End woman,' a police spokesperson said.

'The woman was asked to leave the area and allegedly did not comply.

Northwestern Administrators Pass Resolution Calling for Boycott of 'Terror' State Israel
Northwestern University administration officials and faculty members signed a resolution demanding that the school cut ties with Israel, calling the Jewish country a "terror" state and accusing it of "one of the most atrocious and monstrous sieges in modern history."

The resolution—which also defended the eliminationist slogan "From the River to the Sea" and criticized the administration for creating a task force to combat anti-Semitism—was signed by over 1,000 students, alumni, and faculty members, as well as officials from Northwestern's admissions and civil rights compliance offices.

"After months of tightening what has—for the last 76 years—been a brutal and insufferable occupation, Israel is leading a multifront war on the people of Palestine that can only be described as ethnic cleansing and genocide," said the resolution.

"Despite the immense loss of life and all that sustains it, US diplomatic, military, and top academic institutions have chosen to stand firmly on the side of terror," the statement went on. "Northwestern is no exception."

The resolution criticized the university for creating an "Advisory Committee on Preventing Antisemitism" and a "Committee on Free Expression" to address anti-Semitism on campus.

"Between establishing bodies to police our tone, arresting students for exercising their rights, and openly calling for the silencing of pro-Palestinian voices, it is clear that our institution's singular response has been one of censorship of any and all voices deemed uncomfortable or challenging to the status quo," said the signatories.

The statement also called on Northwestern president Michael Schill to end "collaborations with Israeli institutions" and divest from "all companies that support Israeli apartheid."

A spokesman for Northwestern told the Washington Free Beacon that the university "has no tolerance for discrimination or harassment. We are reviewing the document. To be clear, Northwestern has not committed to divestment from Israel."


Emerson College president offers to pay bail for anti-Israel protesters arrested at school
The president of Emerson College became the latest university leader to face sharp criticism for his handling of the anti-Israel encampment protests after he offered to pay bail for protesters arrested at the Boston liberal arts school and requested that they not be prosecuted.

Following the arrest last week of 118 “Gaza solidarity encampment” protesters, who camped out in tents for weeks in the middle of campus, Emerson President Jay Bernhardt sent a campus-wide email last week saying that the school “has continued to be supportive in multiple ways – sending staff to all the precincts and posting bail for arrested students, canceling and modifying classes so our community could process what had occurred, and providing additional care and support for our community to heal.”

“The College will not bring any campus disciplinary charges against the protestors and will encourage the district attorney not to pursue charges related to encampment violations,” Bernhardt, who is Jewish, wrote.

Roni Moser, an Israeli freshman at Emerson, said in a speech at a pro-Israel rally in Boston on April 28 that the encampments have been the “climax” of the anti-Israel rhetoric that has engulfed the Boston campus since Oct. 7. While Emerson’s undergraduate enrollment is only about 4,000 students, its Students for Justice in Palestine account has more than 6,000 followers.

Moser said that the protesters have “written hateful speech on walls and screamed violent chants repeatedly.”

“People have the right to protest. People shouldn’t have the right to use such violent and antisemitic speech,” she said, pointing to slogans that have been thrown around campus including “Long live the intifada” and “Israel is antisemitic.”

“Jewish students were personally harassed, to the point where many had to be removed from campus, and temporarily placed in hotels,” Moser said, adding that “friends of mine were called terrorists.”

Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, called on Bernhardt to “reverse this decision” and for “the Suffolk district attorney to enforce the law.”

“The president of Emerson is going out of his way to make sure students who broke the law and violated Emerson’s own policies face no consequences,” Greenblatt said in a statement.


At MIT, Administrators Allow Unlawful Encampment To Displace Lawful Israeli Independence Day Event
In the run-up to an annual Israeli Independence Day celebration at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, university president Sally Kornbluth assured student organizers that an unauthorized anti-Israel encampment—located in the same area where the Jewish students planned to hold their event—would be cleared in time. It wasn't, prompting school officials to walk back their promise and press the Jewish students to reschedule or relocate the event, messages obtained by the Washington Free Beacon show.

On April 24, Kornbluth privately told student leaders of the MIT Israel Alliance, Talia Khan and Eitan Moore, that the encampment would be removed within four days, Khan and Moore said. The MIT Israel Alliance had reserved the same campus lawn occupied by the unauthorized protesters, Kresge Oval, for its May 7 Yom Ha'atzmaut celebration.

"President Kornbluth assured us in private communications that the encampment would be removed in time for our Yom Ha'atzmaut celebration," Khan and Moore wrote in a Monday letter to MIT administrators.

But Kornbluth went on to push back her deadline to clear the encampment—first to May 1 and then to May 3, according to Khan and Moore. Then, on May 5, MIT Office of the President chief of staff Aaron Weinberger told the group that the school would not be able to "bring the encampment to an end … in time for the event on Tuesday afternoon." He asked the students to move the celebration.

"We can offer two options: May 7 on Hockfield Court or May 14 on Kresge oval, as originally requested," Weinberger wrote in an email, which was obtained by the Free Beacon. "Either way, we will work with you to ensure you have the support you need for a successful event."

The Jewish students responded defiantly, vowing on Monday to "continue with our celebration as planned." That same day, Kornbluth directed anti-Israel protesters to "leave the encampment peacefully by 2:30 p.m." While some obliged, a small group remained in the encampment as the student organization behind it, MIT Coalition Against Apartheid, called for reinforcements to "defend" the area. Around 6 p.m., protesters breached a fence surrounding the encampment, flooding the lawn, and remained overnight.


The BBC is hiding the toxic truth about anti-Israel protests
It is hard to understand how this is possible from a news organisation that claims to be impartial and repeatedly asserts that it takes anti-Semitism as seriously as any other form of racism.

The same is true of a BBC report on May 2 titled “Columbia University community ‘shattered’ after police raid”. The tone of the article is one of sympathy for the protesters. Issues as serious as whether the cafeteria will fully re-open are deemed worthy of careful reporting. Racism against Jews is not. Nor is the violence and law-breaking that led to the police decision to intervene.

If anyone believes that these are isolated failures, the BBC News live feed page on the US campus protests are revealing. On May 2, this page was updated 58 times over the course of more than 10 hours. The experience of racism by Jewish students was covered in just one post, 30 minutes before the page closed. Despite hours of detailed and continuous coverage, it appears that BBC News felt that anti-Semitism was just not that important.

There is a simple test one can apply to this coverage. Had the poisonous racism on display at these protests been directed at the black or Muslim community, would BBC reports make little or no reference to it? The answer would – quite rightly – be no. The racist abuse would be front and centre of the story. It would be treated with the due prominence and sensitivity it deserves. It would be headline news, at the very heart of the coverage.

Yet racism against Jews is deemed barely worthy of mention in these BBC reports, if at all. As Biden noted, silence is complicity when it comes to anti-Semitism. And again here, the BBC’s silence is an act of complicity. All this adds to the growing list of BBC failures on anti-Semitism and anti-Israel bias since the October 7 massacres. It is hard to imagine that the vast majority of members of Britain’s Jewish community will ever forget it.


The Mainstream Media Is Biased Against Israel. I Know, I Was Part of It
Or take use of the word "terror." For years, many news organizations have refused to call Palestinian terrorists what they are: terrorists. These news organizations freely use the term "terror" and its various permutations in reporting on similar attacks literally everywhere else in the world—from other parts of the Middle East to Europe to the United States. But when it comes to groups like Hamas that primarily attack Jews, the term is suddenly verboten.

When called out on this, news organizations including the Associated Press and the BBC have cited internal rules that allegedly limit use of the term. But a simple look at their stories shows that they use the term liberally in other contexts. Citing a "rule" only for coverage of Israel is selective enforcement, and just another way of establishing bias. (Try searching the words "terrorist group" at npr.org. You'll see the term used freely, but avoided like the proverbial plague when it comes to Israel.)

The list goes on. News agencies have spent decades accusing Israel of violating "international law." In doing so, they have violated a cardinal rule of journalism, which is to say that a person or entity is alleged to have violated a law, and to include the person or entity's response to the allegation in the report. The media have simply appointed themselves as experts on both land agreements over the West Bank and the nebulous network of rules that establish "international law."

They've also long been wrong about the U.S. position on this. Dozens of reports have insisted that, until the Trump administration, the United States consistently considered any and all settlements in the West Bank to be illegal under international law. But in making this claim, they ignored the fact that President Ronald Reagan said the exact opposite—and no presidential administration contradicted him for decades, until then-Secretary of State John Kerry made remarks at the end of 2016.

In recent months, news organizations have, all too often, parroted Hamas talking points by providing alleged "death tolls" from Gaza without informing their audiences that the source of those figures, the "Health Ministry," is part of Hamas, a vicious terrorist organization known to lie—or how many of the dead were terrorists, or that other recent wars (including in Ethiopia and Syria) have incomparably larger death tolls.

This is the kind of bias that today's young people were raised on. They have been inundated with anti-Israel messaging throughout their lives and have soaked it up while in college. As "mainstream" news outlets seek the sources of this dangerous, violent radicalization endangering our country, it's time for them to look inward.


Confronting antisemitism in the digital age
The Internet is an infinitely expanding platform, where voices from all walks of life can converge and try to improve the world. The levels of connectivity we can access in 2024 should be used as a tool to foster understanding and bridge the divides between us. But these days, it feels like it is being used for the exact opposite. Antisemites are willing to exploit any platform to spread their message, a disheartening reality that Jews are forced to confront online at a frightening rate.

This time, the antisemites raised their heads via comments on the YouTube channel of one, Raphi Nathan, better known to the world as “DJ Raphi.” His goal is to create joy and spread positivity in the world through his music and dance videos—something he has been doing with roaring success over the last several years. His YouTube channel has more than 280 million views and 600,000-plus subscribers.

However, recently one of Raphi’s videos was besieged by a barrage of antisemitic comments that are so vulgar and hate-filled that I am disinclined to share them. His only offense? Celebrating Israel’s 75th Independence Day.

Raphi’s videos are aimed at a younger audience, encouraging them to learn, grow and be proud of who they are. He has reached audiences all over the world, building bridges with people in countries that don’t have relations with the Jewish state. He is also a proud Jew and Israeli, and it is this identity that seems to give antisemites the idea that it is appropriate to attack him online.
Congressional candidate who blamed Iraq war on Jews loses in Indiana GOP primary
A former congressman known for his “non-interventionist” foreign policy, which led him to blame Jews for the Iraq war and accuse a pro-Israel “cabal” of targeting him, has lost the Indiana Republican primary.

In the race for the GOP nomination in the state’s 8th District, businessman Mark B. Messmer received 30,661 votes (38.5%); “paleoconservative” John Hostetler (who served in Congress from 1994 to 2006) received 15,640 (19.6%); and six other competitors got the remaining votes.

The Republican Jewish Coalition released a triumphant statement about Hostetler—a candidate the group had previously condemned—committing $1 million to his defeat.

“Tonight, we succeeded in keeping a vocal anti-Israel candidate out of the Republican conference,” stated Norm Coleman and Matt Brooks, national chairman and CEO of the RJC, respectively. “This is a major victory for the RJC, the Jewish community, for all pro-Israel Americans and for common sense.”

Coleman and Brooks said that “unlike some Democratic leaders, who coddle and enable the worst elements of their party’s base, the RJC has shown time and again that we will hold bad actors accountable.”
Rep. Susan Wild Calls Herself ‘Very Pro-Israel’ While Touting Endorsement From Group That Slanders Israel as ‘Apartheid State’
Rep. Susan Wild (D., Pa.), who has called herself a "very pro-Israel member of Congress," touts an endorsement on her campaign website from a Muslim civil rights group that has called Israel an "apartheid state" and blamed it for provoking Hamas’s Oct. 7 terrorist attack.

Alongside trade unions, pro-abortion groups, and Jewish organizations, Wild lists on her endorsements page Emgage Action, which has promoted the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement. After Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7, killing 1,200 Israelis, Emgage condemned "all attacks on civilians" but asserted that "Israel’s brutal siege" of Palestine was the "root" cause of onslaught. Last month, Emgage boycotted a White House Ramadan dinner along with other Muslim groups, citing "discontent" with President Joe Biden’s policies during the Israel-Hamas war.

Wild, who is perhaps best known for phoning into a campaign Zoom call while driving, cites the endorsement from Emgage as she faces off against Republican state representative Ryan Mackenzie in one of the country’s most competitive House races.

It’s not the first time Wild has cozied up to anti-Israel groups while portraying herself as a stalwart defender of Israel. In 2019, she appeared at the annual fundraiser for the Philadelphia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a prominent anti-Israel group with extensive links to Hamas, the Washington Free Beacon reported. Wild spoke at the event alongside Marc Lamont Hill, a former CNN pundit who was fired months earlier for statements in support of the eradication of Israel. Like Emgage, CAIR has blamed Israel for sparking Hamas’s Oct. 7 invasion. And CAIR executive director Nihad Awad said in November that he was "happy to see" Hamas attack the Jewish state.
Labour restore whip to MP who said Israel was committing genocide in Gaza
The Labour party have restored the whip to an MP who said Israel was committing genocide in Gaza on the eve of Holocaust Memorial Day.

The Board of Deputies said Kate Osamor, who sent a message earlier this year to party members in which she said there was an “international duty” to remember the victims of the Holocaust and “more recent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and now Gaza”, should now work with Shoah charities to demonstrate her contrition.

The Edmonton representative apologised for her comments shortly after making them, writing on X/Twitter: “Holocaust Memorial Day is a day to remember the six million Jews killed in the Holocaust and the genocides that have occurred since.

"I apologise for any offence caused by my reference to the ongoing humanitarian disaster in Gaza as part of that period of remembrance.”

On Wednesday, a Labour party spokesperson said: “The chief whip has today restored the Labour whip to Kate Osamor MP. This follows a full investigation by the Labour party into complaints received about a social media post she made in January.”

Osamor said: “I am grateful to the Labour party for their investigation into my conduct and I accept the outcome in full. I want to unreservedly apologise again for my comments. I made remarks which were insensitive, inappropriate, and which I apologise for and regret.

“I will continue to reach out to Jewish stakeholders and the community. I am committed to ensuring that I don’t fall short of the highest standards. I look forward to continuing to represent my constituents of Edmonton in Westminster as a Labour MP.”

The Board of Deputies said Osamor ought to work with “mainstream Jewish groups, as well as key Holocaust charities, to understand why what she said was profoundly offensive to so many of us,” and prove that her remorse is genuine.


Jewish businessman shot dead in Egypt in suspected terror attack
A Jewish businessman was shot dead by unknown gunmen in the Egyptian port city of Alexandria on Tuesday in what reports described as a suspected terror incident.

The man’s identity was not immediately confirmed by Israel’s Foreign Ministry, which said that it is handling the incident along with Israel’s embassy in Cairo. Egyptian police also confirmed that they were investigating the circumstances of the murder.

Unconfirmed reports in Arabic-language media identified the man as Ziv Kipper, the CEO of OK Group LLC, an Egyptian company that specializes in exporting frozen fruits and vegetables.

The company’s head office is located in Alexandria, and it has additional offices in Israel and Ukraine.

The Foreign Ministry confirmed that the man also also held Canadian citizenship, and owned a business in Egypt.

While the perpetrators of the attack were not immediately identified, an unverified statement from a newly formed group named “Vanguards of the Liberation – the Martyrs of Mohamed Salah” claimed responsibility for the shooting.


Elite police officer dies of wounds sustained during Samaria raid
An Israeli Border Police officer wounded in Saturday night’s counterterror raid near the Samaria city of Tulkarem succumbed to his wounds on Wednesday.

Chief Inspector Yatev Lev Halevi, an officer from the Yamam National Counter-Terrorism Unit, was shot during a raid on a Hamas cell. Halevi was the son of Yoram Halevi, who once commanded the unit.

The Hamas cell was responsible for the terrorist murder of off-duty Israel Defense Forces reservist Elhanan Klein, 29, a father of three from Einav near the Beit Lid Junction last November.

The cell also carried out a bombing that wounded two Israelis last month.

On Tuesday, Israeli forces concluded another major counterterrorism operation in Tulkarem. The IDF-led operation, which lasted for more than 20 hours, saw one terrorist killed and six suspects arrested.

Forces searched more than 60 buildings, seizing weapons and destroying workshops for the production of explosives, the army said.
Terrorist Arrested for Attaching IED to Palestinian Flag in Attack
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet security agency (ISA) forces have made a breakthrough in the case of a bomb attack last month involving an improvised explosive device (IED) attached to a Palestinian Authority (PA) flag in the Binyamin region of the West Bank.

Muhammad Atallah Abu Alia, 22, was apprehended earlier this week on suspicion of his involvement in the attack, which left a 25-year-old IDF reservist lightly wounded when the device detonated while he attempted to remove the flag near the town of Kochav Hashachar.

According to reports, during interrogation by the ISA, Alia confessed to his participation in constructing the explosive device and carrying out the attack.

Additionally, materials used in the creation of the IED were seized during his arrest.

The soldier wounded in the attack recounted his experience, stating, “I saw a flag on the left side of the road, we came to take it down, I kicked it — and the flag exploded on me from the side.”

Describing the explosion, he added, “It was a large blast, but luckily I kicked it and the explosion happened on the side and not directly on top of me. I was injured by shrapnel on my hands and that was it. The charge was buried in the ground.”

Commenting on the current Gaza war between Israel and Gaza-ruling terror organization Hamas, a Palestinian sheikh explained that while the Israelis might seemingly be winning the war, according to Allah they are “destined for the Burning Fire” in Hell:
Sheikh Hamed Daraghmeh: “Thus says Allah, you [Israelis] have murdered, burned, slaughtered many, destroyed, caused [us] to flee in every direction, expelled, distanced the people from their homeland, but at the same time, ‘they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire [in Hell]’ [Quran 85:10]… The message that our Almighty Master of the Universe wants to convey to us- Apparently the victory is theirs... they have won, murdered, they are the victors. But in the true balance they are the losers because they are destined for the Burning Fire.”

The host of the same PA TV program, a female preacher, later seconded this, expressing happiness that “the killed Jews are in Hell” while dead Palestinian “Martyrs” are “in Paradise”:

Robert Kraft Foundation Has Message for Anti-Israel Campus Demonstrators With NBA Playoffs TV Ad: ‘Don’t Bring Hate’
An advertisement purchased by Robert Kraft’s Foundation to Combat Antisemitism (FCAS) that aired on Tuesday night during an NBA playoff game urged students protesting the Israel-Hamas war on college and university campuses across the US to leave antisemitism out of their demonstrations.

“Scream until you’re red in the face. But don’t scream at the Jewish kid walking to class,” stated the 30-second ad that aired during the NBA game between the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers. “Threaten to change history, but don’t threaten your Jewish neighbor. Draw a line in the sand, but don’t draw a swastika. Because bringing more hate to anyone brings more hate to everyone.”

The ad also featured photos from various anti-Israel protests that began after the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attacks in southern Israel. Images shown in the video included burnt Israeli flags and banners held by protesters that read “Hitler should have killed the Jews” and “stuff some into the oven,” a reference to the gas chambers used at Nazi concentration camps during the Holocaust. The video ended with the message “Don’t bring hate to the protests” and displayed the blue square emoji that is the icon for the foundation’s StandUpToJewishHate campaign.

Kraft, the Jewish owner of the New England Patriots, started the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism in 2019. FCAS purchased a Super Bowl ad and an ad that aired during the Academy Awards this year to also highlight the rise in antisemitism.

Kraft was a graduate of Columbia University and a major donor to the New York school until April, when he announced that he would pull his funding over the treatment of Jewish students and faculty at the campus during pro-Hamas protests.
Pro-Hamas Mob Tries to Breach Hotel in Greece, Police Protect Israeli Tourists Forced to Hide: Reports
A mob of pro-Hamas demonstrators attempted to break into a hotel where Israeli tourists were staying in Athens, according to media reports and videos circulating on social media.

The anti-Israel protests against the war in Gaza escalated into riots, with some demonstrators attempting to breach the hotel premises.

Greek police were reportedly dispatched to the scene at Omonia Square, where they deployed gas grenades to disperse the crowd and restore order.

Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said there were no known Israeli casualties, i24 News reported.

The incident came after police had to use flash-bang grenades and other anti-riot tactics to prevent anti-Israel protesters from trying to breach the walls of the Egyptian embassy, according to the Foreign Desk news site.

Clashes had broken out between police and pro-Hamas demonstrators in Athens, the Greek capital, earlier on Tuesday, one day after Israel launched a military operation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, the Hamas terror group’s last stronghold in the Palestinian enclave.

More than 300 people rallied outside the parliament building in Athens, carrying Palestinian flags and banners reading “Hands off Rafah!”


Chilean influencer, 26, sparks outrage by claiming Anne Frank 'lived better than we do' after seeing the exterior of the Jewish wartime diarist's Amsterdam home - and claiming 'she had half the place to herself'
An influencer has sparked outrage online by claiming Anne Frank 'lived better than we do' during a visit to Amsterdam.

Chilean influencer, Naya Fácil, 26, who has been enjoying a trip around Europe, headed to the Anne Frank House in the Dutch capital.

She was apparently taken aback by the size of the 17th-century canal house where Anne hid from the Nazi persecution during WWII after comparing the façade of the whole museum with the size of nearby homes.

But Anne and her family hid in only the rear of the building, known as the Secret Annex, for two years before being caught by the Gestapo in 1944. Anne died at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in early 1945 aged 15.

During a recent visit to the museum dedicated to the Jewish wartime diarist in Amsterdam, Fácil told her 2.4 million Instagram fans: 'I'm shocked by Anne Frank's house. She had half the place to herself. She lived better than we do.'
Teens arrested for hate crimes after allegedly harassing Jews in upstate New York
Police in upstate New York have arrested four teens on aggravated harassment and hate crimes charges stemming from two recent antisemitic incidents.

The teens were arrested in the town of Ramapo, near to the predominately Orthodox Jewish enclave of Monsey.

According to the Ramapo Police, on April 19, at 9 p.m., two 17-year-old males were in a car when the passenger “shot a water pellet gun” at Jewish individuals walking along the road. One person was struck, but uninjured. The police said the teens shouted antisemitic slurs before speeding away.

The antisemitic incidents occurred on two consecutive Friday nights, and as a detective told the Jewish Chronicle, the “victims were targeted due to their attire and religion.”

One week later, on Friday, April 26, four teens in the same car targeted Jewish pedestrians. In that instance, one of the passengers tossed rubbish at one of the individuals out walking. The garbage hit him in the leg, but he was not injured. The teens then yelled antisemitic slurs and “fled the scene at a high rate of speed,” according to the police announcement.

Police say that in the course of the investigation they determined that the driver and passenger allegedly involved in the April 19 incident were also allegedly involved in the second incident. In that instance, they were allegedly joined by two 18-year-old males.


100th Anniversary: The U.S. Immigration Law That Doomed Europe’s Jews
The annual quota for Germany was 25,957, but that limit was almost never reached, thanks to extra requirements and regulations that the Roosevelt administration piled on. Barely five percent of the German quota was filled in 1933, Hitler’s first year in power. In fact, it was filled in only one year out of Roosevelt’s twelve years in office, and in most of those years, it was less than 25 percent filled.

Wilbur Carr, who authored that antisemitic report in 1921, was kept on by Roosevelt as assistant secretary of state. He played an important role in implementing the president’s harsh immigration policies. So did George Messersmith, a senior US diplomat in Germany and Austria whom Roosevelt made assistant secretary of state in 1937.

The best known of these State Department officials was Breckinridge Long, a major donor to FDR’s presidential campaign who was rewarded by being named U.S. ambassador to Italy. But Long’s praise for Mussolini’s “punctual trains” proved embarrassing to the administration, eventually leading to his resignation. Roosevelt then rewarded Long by promoting him to assistant secretary of state, putting him in charge of 23 of the State Department’s 42 divisions, including the visa section.

In one infamous memo to his colleagues in 1940, Long wrote of the need “to put every obstacle in the way [of refugees seeking to enter the U.S.] and to require additional evidence and to resort to various administrative devices which would postpone and postpone and postpone the granting of the visas.”

Long regularly briefed President Roosevelt on his efforts to suppress immigration below the level allowed by existing law. In a diary entry in October 1940, Long described his meeting with FDR to discuss “the whole subject of immigration, visas, safety of the United States, procedures to be followed.” He found that the president “was 100% in accord with my ideas.”

One of those ideas was a June 1941 regulation—personally approved by FDR—that rejected all visa applicants who had “close relatives” in German-occupied territory. The new edict affected significant numbers of European Jews. During the period of the Nazi genocide, from 1941 to 1945, only 10% of the quotas from Germany and Axis-controlled European countries were actually utilized. Almost 190,000 quota places were left unused.

Thus the Johnson-Reed Act, signed into law a century ago this week, established the framework that would help doom many of Europe’s Jews. But it was the Roosevelt administration’s harsh implementation process that actually shut America’s doors in the face of those who most desperately needed a haven.
David Cameron pledges to build ‘vital’ Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre alongside Parliament
Politicians across the political spectrum have renewed their calls for a Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre to be constructed on the lawn alongside parliament.

MPs and Peers were joined by Holocaust survivors at a Parliamentary gathering on Tuesday to mark Yom HaShoah, the Jewish community’s day to remember the six million Jewish people murdered in the Holocaust.

The event, hosted by the UK Holocaust Memorial Foundation, the Holocaust Memorial All Party Parliamentary Group and the Holocaust Education Trust (HET), saw speeches from Foreign Secretary Lord David Cameron, shadow cabinet member Lisa Nandy MP, and Holocaust survivor Susan Pollack OBE.

In the face of rising antisemitism, Lord Cameron said that a permanent national Holocaust memorial in Victoria Tower Gardens is needed now more than ever.

“We are having a problem again in our country with antisemitism,” he said, “you can see it with the fact that there are girls going to school in this great capital city who feel they have to hide away the symbols of their religion.”

He continued: “We’re going to have to do more to combat it. While the Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre is not the only answer, I think it is important because it will be there for future generations to see, not just the horror of what happened and how many people were murdered, but also to understand where antisemitism can lead, where hatred leads, and I think that is what’s so important about it. We will get it built, and when we get it built, it will be a lasting memorial, not just vital because of what it commemorates, but vital because of what it educates.”


100-year-old who shaped Israeli photojournalism takes stage to share Holocaust survival
Dan Hadani, only three months away from his 100th birthday and looking decades younger, told a rapt audience of 300 his Holocaust survival story at the National Library of Israel in Jerusalem on Sunday night in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Hadani spoke in detail — often correcting his interviewer. He only occasionally searched for a forgotten word in Hebrew that accidentally came out in German, Italian, or Polish.

Before he began documenting and speaking publicly about his experiences in the Holocaust, Hadani had already made his mark on Israeli history through his work as the founder and head of the Israel Press & Photo Agency.

During his decades of photojournalism in Israel, Hadani rubbed shoulders with prime ministers Golda Meir, Yitzhak Rabin, Menachem Begin, David Ben Gurion, and many other world leaders, including Egyptian president Anwar Sadat.

But his first brush with a famous — or at least infamous — individual came during a “selection” at the Auschwitz extermination camp that was conducted by the sadistic torturer, Dr. Josef Mengele, also known as “the Angel of Death.”

After being subjected to harsh physical tests to exhaust them, Hadani and hundreds of other sick, malnourished prisoners were made to stand in neat rows of five before the doctor, Hadani recounted on Sunday night.

Mengele went down the lines slowly, saying nothing. He simply pointed a finger at whichever man he was interested in, and they would be removed from the line.

The doctor wordlessly pointed in Hadani’s direction, to which he responded in German, “Did you mean me?”

“Stand still, dog,” Mengele barked, pointing to the man behind Hadani.

Everyone was shocked — nobody ever spoke to Mengele, and the doctor certainly never spoke to the prisoners during these selections.
