Tonight is Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The usual reasons given for this day are so that we won't forget the evils of antisemitism, and we solemnly pledge "never again."

Unfortunately, much of the world already has forgotten the lessons and support the rights of those who want to see it repeated.

Today's antisemites who style themselves as being merely "anti-Zionist" or "pro-Palestinian" say that they have learned the lessons of the Holocaust, so much so that they can give instruction to the Jewish state as to how it hasn't learned those lessons. They strenuously deny being antisemitic, and they have lots of "proof:" they have Jewish friends, they have Jewish members, they have seders, they are acting according to Jewish morality, they quote "Justice, Justice thou shalt pursue."

And for the most part, the world that claims to be horrified by the Holocaust believes their denial of being motivated by Jew-hatred.

But they aren't the only ones who have denied being antisemitic.

This 1990 Canadian news story shows that a neo-Nazi skinhead also denied hating Jews:

He didn't hate Jews. He just didn't want them around anymore.

The Soviet Union also denied hating Jews. Soviets were only anti-Zionist, and they defined “international Zionism” as a “shock detachment of imperialism, colonialism and neo-colonialism" that happened to be led by the "Jewish bourgeoisie."

Nazis denied discriminating against Jews as well. In the run-up to the 1936 Berlin Olympics, they claimed that they would allow any Jewish athletes to compete. The only problem was that sports clubs in Germany didn't allow Jews, and they didn't want to interfere with their decisions.

And one couldn't expect Germany to support Jewish sports clubs, because they were...Zionist!

"It is hardly fair to expect that state support be given to purely Jewish organizations, which, being composed almost exclusively of Zionists, are even today in sharp political conflict with the government," said Hans Von Tschammer und Osten, the German minister of sport.

Like the Soviets, the Nazis were merely anti-Zionist, not anti-Jewish!

Father Charles Coughlin amassed a huge radio audience in the 1930s and emphasized that Jews were behind the Communist revolution. He published a magazine, Social Justice, which serialized the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. But he denied being antisemitic as well. (NYT, November 28, 1938)

Henry Ford, who also published the Protocols, strenuously denied having any negative feelings towards Jews as well. He only pointed out how Jews were behind all wars and the Jew is "the money maniac." (NYT, October 29, 1922):

It turns out that of you take them at their word, there are no antisemites at all. Palestinians don't hate Jews, they just want to ensure Jews have no political power. Louis Farrakhan isn't antisemitic, he's just pointing out that most Jews belong to the Synagogue of Satan - but not all of them. The Arab nations didn't hate Jews, they say that all their Jews left voluntarily after listening to Zionist lies.

Most of these can point to Jews who support them and who agree that they are not antisemitic, only misunderstood.

By the same token, Haman didn't hate Jews, he was just concerned that they have different laws than the rest of Persia. Pharaoh didn't hate Jews, he was just concerned about a fifth column in ancient Egypt.

It is easy to laugh at the denials of antisemites from decades or centuries past; their lies are transparent. Yet today, a large percentage of people are more than willing to accept the current denials of antisemitism from the anti-Israel crowd, as if their current excuses for singling out most Jews have any more validity than those of the antisemites of the past.

It isn't only today that antisemites dress up their hate in the garb of nationalism, or social justice, or morality, or science, or protecting the interests of "victims" of Jewish actions.

They've always done it.

The Moroccan Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has a lengthy article on its official government website praising an Arabic version of the antisemitic forgery the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

The article, which has been on the site since at least 2017, describes an edition of the book that was written by Ajaj Nuwaihid, a Lebanese historian who moved to Jerusalem in the 1920s. There, he became a close colleague of the infamous Jew-hating Mufti of Jerusalem and helped him start a political party in 1932.

The Waqf site summarizes the book:
Global Judaism is a demonic force with a secret organization, which likens itself to a snake, and this snake has a 9-stage scheme.

This plan started from the time of the Babylonian captivity 24-25 centuries ago, and the end of the last phase was at the end of this twentieth century, and in Palestine.

“Strength” in global Judaism is its ability to conceal its attributes from the world, and spread the mist around itself so that the world remains confused about the Jewish truth.

The most skilled thieves in the world, and if they mastered the technical trick of stealing, piercing walls, manipulating iron locks, acrobatic climbing in the dark, speed of movement, surprising with the barrel of a pistol, using drugs and covering their palms with gloves and paint.
Nuwaihid's book is not merely a translation of the Russian forgery, but it is an expansion of it, where he warns the Arab world about the plots of the Jews that can be seen in the Talmud and even back to how they destroyed the Amalekite "hero," Haman.

Nuwaihid ties the Jewish plot to modern Zionism, as most Arab writings about the Protocols do. According to him, they were disseminated in the First Zionist Congress in Basel, Switzerland:
In that conference, which included the most notorious demons and heads of demons, its members and sects competed, individually or in collaborators, in devising the most dangerous plan to destroy and exclude the world. The conferees studied a criminal plan to enable the Jews to control the world.
The article goes on to say the Russian secret police got hold of the Protocols by starting a fire that forced the Jews out of the meeting hall and allowed the Russians to grab the secret papers.

This Arabicized version of the Protocols says that the "satanic Jewish thinking reaches the domination of the world by a Jewish government after the sabotage of Christian Orthodox Russia, Catholic Europe, the Pope and then Islam."

(The theme that the Protocols were connected to Zionism is quite popular in the Arab world. This Egyptian writer claims that the Protocols were written by early Zionist pioneer Ahad Ha'am.)

This article is pure antisemitism and pure anti-Zionism, and it does not even pretend to distinguish between the two. It says "the undoubted truth is that one of the Jewish fingers lies behind every call that disparages moral values and aims to destroy the rules upon which human society has been based for all time." It gives examples of Communism (Marx) and existentialism (Sartre, whom it claims was half-Jewish.)

Morocco may have signed a peace treaty with Israel and it may be the most philosemitic Arab country, but that is not saying much when these sorts of slanders and lies can be published on an official Moroccan government website.

Former Jewish Voice for Peace director Rebecca Vilkomerson tweeted:

Think about the phrase "visionary heart-opening anti-Zionist book."

Try to imagine the phrase "visionary heart-opening anti-"anything else.

Anti-communist? Anti-white supremacist? Anti-terrorist? Anti-gay? Anti-Chinese? Anti-global warming? Anti-abortion?  Anti-Muslim?

There are lots of people and groups against a lot of things, and hate is an appropriate response to many outrages. But how many people who hate anything try to elevate that hate into art and poetry?

I can only think of two examples.

Nazi Germany turned Jew-hatred into poetry. Here is a poem "If All People Were Jews:"

If all people were Jews,
What would become of the world?
No corn would grow,
No plow would move through the fields,

No forester would tend the woods,
No miner would start his shift.
Jews don’t even like
To sail the seas.
The steamboat would never have been invented,
Nor would the train.
No dirigible would rise
Shining into the sky.
We wouldn’t have gunpowder,
Nor electric lights.
For the Jew can barter,
But he cannot invent.

... What can the Jew give,
He who has nothing,
Yet presumes to
Call himself “elect”?
Only the devil knows,
For the devil loves pride and arrogance.
Thank God there are still
People other than Jews on earth!

And now the "anti-Zionist" community, with books and songs and chants dedicated to hate..

Like the KKK, the modern haters used to pretend that their movement was not negative but positive. They pretended to be "pro-Palestinian." But that façade has faded as it became increasingly clear that these groups were doing nothing to help Palestinians and as their philosophy developed around the theme of hating Israel and everything it stands for. They only support Palestinian initiatives that align with that goal. (How many "pro-Palestinians" make solidarity visits to Lebanese or Jordanian UNRWA camps? It's very rare.)

Here is an entire book of "personal stories, history, poetry and art" that is based on a negative: "confronting Zionism." These people define themselves by what they hate. And now like their antisemitic forebears they are trying to use their hate as a springboard build an entire artistic community.

This idea of elevating antisemitism as anti-Israel art has been building for years. Belgium's poet laureate Charles Ducal and poet Alice Walker both wrote poems that compared Jews to Nazis under the guise of "anti-Zionism." So did the acclaimed play "Seven Jewish Children."

The modern haters are all strengthened by finding comrades who share their hate, and since they look at themselves as being cultured, they are now in the forefront of integrating hate into art.

(from a Twitter thread last night)
1. If you are pro-Palestinian, you are actively supporting the one group that has the highest percentage of antisemites in the world (Pew poll.)
2. If you are anti-Zionist, that means you say Jews - alone among all peoples = have no right to their own homeland in their historic home.
3. Israel-haters hate context: they compare Israel with a shining ideal but have nothing to say about anyone else. Singling out the Jewish state for vitriol is antisemitism.
4. Today's anti-Zionists have something in common with Hitler - they both hated Zionism.
5. The Israel-boycott movement says Israeli Arabs are Palestinians. They only boycott Israelis - meaning, only Jews. Textbook antisemitism.
6. There is a direct historical line between the Arabs boycotting Jews in the 1920s-40s and people boycotting Israeli Jews today.
7. Anti-Israel Arab media is unrepentantly antisemitic in Arabic. If you don't call it out, you condone it.
8. College campuses with the biggest anti-Israel populations are also the most antisemitic, according to studies.
9. Be real: the only reason anti-Zionists obsess over Israel when other countries are far worse is because it is filled with Jews.
10. Obsessive Israel-hatred is more a cult than a sober opinion. The only obsession comparable to it in history is classic Jew-hatred.
11. The Khazar theory is only popular among Israel haters because it says today's Jews have no historic right to the land of Israel. It's pure antisemitism.
12. Saying that Zionists control America and/or the media is literally identical to what the Protocols of the Elders of Zion says.
13. If you create or use definitions of "apartheid" or "genocide" or "ethnic cleansing" in a way that only applies to Jews, you hate Jews.
14. The accusation of "Jewish supremacy" is directly out of the Nazi playbook.
15. Israel is a pretty remarkable country in thousands of ways. If you can't admit any of them, you aren't just a "critic of Israel." You hate Jews.
16. If you say that Jews do not have the right to pray on the Temple Mount, their holiest spot, you have a problem with Jews.
17. If you complain about "Judaization" of Jerusalem or any other important Biblical city, you have a problem with Jews.
18. If you claim to support Palestinians but don't have anything bad to say about how badly the Arab world treats Palestinians, you are just a Jew-hater.
19. If you twist Jewish ritual into anti-Israel ritual, you have a problem with Jews and Judaism.
20. Saying that you hate Nazi-style antisemitism but being okay with Soviet-style antisemitism means you support antisemitism.
21. The Palestinian nationalist movement was literally founded by someone who collaborated with Nazis because they both saw Jews as a common enemy.
22. Even the UN admits that calling for the destruction of Israel, including when the BDS movement does it, is antisemitic.
Yes, the UN.

From CBC News:

A British conspiracy theorist known for his outlandish ideas about lizard people and "Zionists" controlling the world is set to perform in a Vancouver civic theatre this weekend, provoking outrage from Jewish groups.

David Icke, a former sports broadcaster, is scheduled to give a full-day presentation at the Orpheum Theatre on Saturday. The theatre is operated by the city, and officials have denied requests to cancel the show from groups like B'nai Brith Canada and the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs.

Aiden Fishman of B'nai Brith Canada described Icke's views as "classic anti-Semitic ideas" and said the booking should never have been allowed.

"It's totally, totally incompatible with the City of Vancouver's role as an open and tolerant multicultural municipality to allow Mr. Icke to speak at a city-owned facility, after we've brought all these concerns to their attention," Fishman told CBC News.

Deep concern from Jewish groups

In an interview Thursday, Icke was furious about the campaign against his show, describing the claims made by Jewish groups as "libellous."

His presentation, according to his website, will cover everything from "reptilians" — shape-shifting alien-human hybrids — to the truth about the moon, which he believes is a hologram projected from Saturn.

"If what they say is true, why will I spend 10 hours talking on Saturday and not even mention Jewish people once? They need to explain that," Icke asked.

But in videos of his lectures posted online, he frequently uses another phrase, "Rothschild Zionists." These are the people he suggests are responsible for causing the 2008 financial crisis, staging the 9/11 attacks and generally controlling the world's banking and political systems.

That phrase, according to Fishman, is pretty obvious code for Jewish people.
Icke claims that he is not against Jews at all, but only "Rothschild Zionists".

In this 2010 essay on his site, he says
Ask most people about Zionism and they will say ‘that’s the Jews’, but while this is the impression the Rothschild networks in politics and the media have sought very successfully to ‘sell’ as ‘common knowledge’, it is not true. It represents only a minority of them and many others who are not Jewish.
Yet when he goes through a list of who he considers "Rothschild Zionists" in positions of power, surprise, they all happen to be Jews (with many of them unknown to be Zionists at all.)

So Icke says with a straight face:
[T]he Rothschild Zionists control the mainstream media; Hollywood and the movie industry; governments, not least in the United States; and crucially in the light of current events, they control global finance and commerce....
Nah, nothing to do with Jews.

Hilariously, Icke quoted a 2008 humor column by Joel Stein, about how proud he was that Jews control Hollywood, to prove that "Rothschild Zionists" control Hollywood - but then he lamely says it has nothing to do with Jews:
The Los Angeles Times columnist, Joel Stein (Rothschild Zionist), wrote an article proclaiming that Americans who don’t think Jews (Rothschild Zionists) control Hollywood are just plain ‘dumb’:

‘I had to scour the trades to come up with six Gentiles in high positions at entertainment companies. But lo and behold, even one of that six, AMC President Charles Collier, turned out to be a Jew! … As a proud Jew, I want America to know of our accomplishment. Yes, we control Hollywood.’

I emphasise again that we are not talking here about ‘the Jews’ owning the media, Hollywood, politics, banking and big business, but a tiny clique answering ultimately to the secret society that I call Rothschild Zionism.
The City of Vancouver is saying that as long as Icke only talks about "Zionists" controlling the world and being responsible for 9/11, then there is no violation of Canadian laws:

In an email, a spokesperson for the City of Vancouver wrote that it cannot infringe on Icke's freedom of speech without evidence that his presentation will include illegal hate speech.
"The City has explicit requirements in its theater rental agreements that govern the conduct of renters and has confirmed with Mr. Icke and his team their obligation to comply with all Canadian laws relating to the content of their presentation," the email reads.
A simple replacement of the word of "Jews" with "Zionists" in any Nazi text would ensure that they can be read in public in Vancouver without violating hate laws.

Come to think of it, this is exactly how the "pro-Palestinian" crowd thinks, too.

And remember that Alice Walker, the prize-winning novelist of the "anti-Israel" crowd, believes in Icke's theories as well.

We have lots of ideas, but we need more resources to be even more effective. Please donate today to help get the message out and to help defend Israel.

Monday, March 10, 2008

A student stands behind a podium as a video of Hezbollah's Leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah plays during a pro-Palestinian meeting at a cultural centre in Tehran March 9, 2008. Students agreed on a one-million dollar reward for the murder of three Israeli commanders, Ehud Barak, Amos Yadlin and Meir Dagan. REUTERS/Morteza Nikoubazl (IRAN)

A "pro-Palestinian" meeting? Let's see what we know about this meeting:

 1) The video being shown is of Hassan Nasrallah, a Lebanese-born terrorist who has never been in Israel or Palestine in his life. His goal, nonetheless, is the destruction of Israel - not the building of a Palestinian Arab state.
 2) At this meeting, students agreed it would be a good idea to murder three Israelis. Not to help Palestinian Arabs, but to murder Israelis.
 3) On the podium it helpfully says "Israel must be wiped off the map."

So, is this a "pro-Palestinian" meeting - or an anti-Israel meeting? Is anything being discussed that would help the Palestinian Arabs' lives - any fund raising for medical equipment for Gaza, for example? Apparently not.

So if Reuters is labeling this a "pro-Palestinian meeting" that means that Reuters does not distinguish between "pro-Palestinian" and "anti-Zionist."

Reuters apparently does not believe in a peace process that would result in a Palestinian Arab and Zionist state side-by-side, and it believes that the mainstream of "pro-Palestinian" opinion is similar to the sentiments being displayed here in Iran. So either Reuters does not believe that the "peace process" is "pro-Palestinian," - or they believe that even the "moderate" Palestinian Arabs view the "peace process" as being an anti-Israel movement, with the same goals as shown here

Which is it?
