John Spencer: No one should want ceasefire in Gaza until clear defeat of Hamas
War is always tragic. But some wars are necessary. The just purpose of war is not vengeance—it is justice, deterrence, and the restoration of peace. But peace is not possible with an armed, fanatical regime in Gaza that seeks your destruction and views the murder of civilians as a divine duty. Wars of self-defense must end with unmistakable clarity.JPost Editorial: Tom Fletcher's continued falsehoods on Israel prove he needs to resign
Germany in 1918 was defeated militarily, but the war ended with ambiguity. The Allies allowed the German army to retreat intact. The result was the “stab-in-the-back” myth that fueled Nazism and led to an even more catastrophic war. In 1945, the Allies made no such mistake. Nazi Germany was not just defeated—it was destroyed as a governing entity. So was Imperial Japan. And just as importantly, the German and Japanese populations came to see and accept that their regimes had been defeated. Both societies underwent years of disarmament, reconciliation, and comprehensive deradicalization. Only then could Europe and the Pacific begin to rebuild in peace.
Israel faces the same choice today. Ending this war without defeating Hamas means condemning Israelis—and Palestinians—to unending conflict. It means October 7 becomes not a cautionary tale, but a case study in successful terrorism, lawfare, hostage taking, and wars of aggression.
Israel is currently achieving real, measurable success in its military campaign. Operation Gideon’s Chariot has transitioned from massed maneuvers to coordinated clear-and-hold operations across Gaza. The IDF has successfully seized and is now holding terrain in areas once dominated by Hamas battalions. Elite Israeli units continue to dismantle Hamas’s underground networks, rocket infrastructure, weapons production sites, and command centers—undermining the group’s ability to wage war.
In parallel, Israel has established a new humanitarian mechanism—the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation—to deliver food, water, and medicine directly to civilians without going through Hamas. This is critical. For years, Hamas maintained power not only through fear and force but also by monopolizing aid distribution and punishing dissent. That monopoly is now being broken. For the first time in nearly two decades, signs of civilian defiance are emerging: Gazans protesting Hamas’s theft, rejecting their authority, and calling them out publicly.
But let no one be mistaken—this is still a war, not a counterinsurgency. Hamas remains the de facto ruling power of Gaza. It still commands fighters, holds hostages, and exerts control over large swaths of the population. No one who has studied war—real war—should have expected that a terror regime that spent decades militarizing every inch of Gaza and radicalizing generations of civilians could be dismantled easily or quickly. Those calling for an immediate ceasefire either do not understand war, or do not want Hamas to lose.
This war must end not with a ceasefire, but with a clear and irreversible outcome: the defeat of Hamas as a military and governing power.
If the international community truly wants peace, it should focus not on saving Hamas, but on how it is first removed from power, disarmed, and dismantled—so that the long process of deradicalization and reconciliation can begin. This was the path taken after World War II, when defeating the regimes that started the war was recognized as the necessary precondition for lasting peace.
Israel cannot be the only party planning for what comes after Hamas. The international community must stop pretending Hamas can be part of the solution. It must become part of the solution itself: by supporting measures that accelerate Hamas’s defeat, such as the movement of civilians out of Hamas’s grasp, not refusing to participate in a humanitarian plan that delivers aid directly to the people Hamas has long exploited.
The hypocrisy must stop. The reality must be accepted: peace will never come while Hamas remains intact. There is no future in which Gaza flourishes while Hamas remains in power. There is no future in which Israelis or Palestinians are safe if October 7, hostage taking, lawfare, and human shielding are seen as a path to political leverage.
We would live in a very different world if the Allies had not pursued victory in 1945. We will live in a dark and dangerous world if Hamas is allowed to claim one now.
Let it be clear—to Hamas and to the world—that they lost this war. Anything less guarantees a future of endless violence.
Tom Fletcher must resign. The UN’s under-secretary for humanitarian aid, tasked with supposed impartiality and accuracy in global crises, has proven himself yet again unworthy of the post he holds. His recent inflammatory accusations against Israel, specifically that it is subjecting Gaza to “forced starvation,” a war crime, are not only unsubstantiated but dangerously irresponsible.Israeli Ambassador to Britain: We Are No Longer Willing to Jeopardize Our Security
In a BBC interview published on Friday, Fletcher claimed that Israel is deliberately starving the population of Gaza, implying intentional war crimes. “It is classified as a war crime,” he said, adding that courts and history will ultimately judge. These are no small words. They carry weight. They can inflame conflict. They can distort international discourse. And they must be based on facts, not ideological fervor or personal agendas.
Fletcher is not new to exaggeration. Just last week, he was forced to walk back a false and hysterical claim that 14,000 babies could die within 48 hours if aid was not allowed into Gaza. The UN itself later clarified that the figure, taken from a year-long projection on malnutrition, was grossly misrepresented. Fletcher admitted they were “desperate to get that aid in,” and thus loosened their standards of accuracy. That is not desperation. That is deception.
Even as Israel has opened aid corridors and worked with the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation to allow supplies through, Fletcher has refused to acknowledge any progress. Nor has he uttered a single word about the very real obstacles posed by Hamas. The terrorist group routinely hijacks aid convoys, reroutes them to its own warehouses, and sells food at extortionate prices to a starving population. This is a humanitarian catastrophe created by Hamas, but Fletcher has yet to acknowledge it.
Instead, he places the entirety of the blame on Israel. No mention of the Israeli hostages still languishing in Hamas captivity. No recognition of the terror group’s abuse of humanitarian infrastructure. No condemnation of Hamas’s use of civilian shields. Just relentless, blinkered criticism of the only side in this war that is both a democracy and a UN member state.
It is political theater at its finest, and another example of the utter uselessness of the United Nations.
Amb. Tzipi Hotovely interviewed by Tim Stanley (Sunday Telegraph-UK)
The problem with coverage of Gaza is that emotions run so high, every discussion ends up feeling like an interrogation - and the Israelis push back with force. What outsiders often forget is that beneath the rhetorical fireworks lies a deep pain. Israeli Ambassador Tzipi Hotovely tells me "everyone in Israel is traumatized" by the events of Oct. 7, 2023, when Hamas invaded Israel, murdering and kidnapping more than a thousand people.
"We, as Israelis, have been through terror attacks in our coffee shops, on our buses, on our streets, but never in the past did we feel like our houses were not safe." This is their new "vulnerability: the feeling that you cannot protect your own children....I think that October 7th was a watershed moment...all across Israel. No one can say in Israel that he's the same person after."
Some governments still live in the mentality of "October 6th" - but Israelis have been shown "that if you have a jihadi, Islamist terrorist group that wants to destroy you on your doorstep, at the end of the day, it'll end up in a massacre." Think of it as living next-door to the "Third Reich." "The aims of the war are very clear to Israel. Hamas shouldn't exist as a political leadership and with military power after we finish."
"Israel's policy from the beginning of the war was to deliver aid to Gaza." Some "25,000 trucks of aid got into Gaza. This is not a starvation program, this is actually a flooding Gaza with aid program....The reason why it had to stop was because it was being looted only to feed the terrorists" or "to sell the aid that people were supposed to get for free." "As a Jew, as an Israeli, we value life very much. Unfortunately, our enemies don't....I think it's a clash of civilizations....I find that Western people find it very hard to believe that on the other side, there are people who are using their own children as human shields, but they do....Now, think about it. Do you think the UK would have continued living next to a terror organization that is a threat to your children in Kent? Or in London or in Liverpool? I don't think so."
"What did October 7th prove? First of all, unfortunately what we've seen is big support among Palestinians towards the massacre." One poll found 86% of West Bank residents sympathized with the pogrom. The concept of a two-state solution "was rejected by the Palestinians again and again. Israelis had hope [in it] in the 1990s and were willing to compromise, but...every time there was some type of negotiation, there was more terrorism....So Israelis are no longer willing to jeopardize their security any longer."
Pro-Israeli protesters attacked with Molotov cocktails in Colorado
A peaceful demonstration in solidarity with Israeli hostages held in Gaza was violently interrupted on Sunday afternoon on Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, Colorado, leaving at least five people injured.
Authorities are investigating what FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino have described as a "terrorist attack."
Patel said in a post on social media, "Our agents and local law enforcement are on the scene already, and we will share updates as more information becomes available."
The incident unfolded around 3:30 p.m. local time, when participants of a "Run For Their Lives" walk were reportedly targeted with Molotov cocktails, witnesses at the scene recounted to CBS Colorado.
Boulder police rapidly responded to what they termed an "attack," initiating evacuations of the 1200, 1300, and 1400 blocks of Pearl Street between Walnut and Pine.
According to Axios, one person was arrested in connection with the attack.
The victims’ injuries range from very serious to minor, Reuters reported.
"Run For Their Lives," the organizing group for the walk, emphasized the peaceful nature of their event. "This is not a protest; it is a peaceful walk to show solidarity with the hostages and their families, and a plea for their release," the group stated. The walk commenced at 1:00 p.m. at Pearl Street and 8th Street, proceeding along the mall with a planned stop at the courthouse for a video presentation.
Visual evidence from the scene includes what appears to be a burn scar in front of the old courthouse and a person being transported on a stretcher, according to CBS Colorado.

FBI director calls incident at Boulder's Pearl Street Mall in Colorado a "targeted terror attack;" multiple injured
Colorado police are responding to what they called an attack at Boulder's Pearl Street Mall that left multiple people injured.
Authorities said the violent incident happened at 13th Street and Pearl Street on Sunday afternoon. Police asked everyone to avoid the area while first responders work the scene.
Boulder police said officers are evacuating the 1200, 1300, and 1400 blocks of Pearl Street between Walnut and Pine as they investigate what happened. "PLEASE AVOID THIS AREA," the department tweeted at 3:08 p.m.
In a press conference at 4 p.m., police said the scene is not yet safe and they have a vehicle of interest. Authorities said a suspect has been taken into custody. They said that multiple people were injured and taken to local hospitals, some of which have since been transferred to other hospitals. Boulder police believe some of those injuries may be life-threatening.
Witnesses at the scene told CBS Colorado that the suspect attacked people with Molotov cocktails who were participating in a walk to remember the Israeli hostages who remain in Gaza.
FBI Director Kash Patel and FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino described the incident as a terrorist attack and said around 3:30 p.m. that FBI agents are at the scene. Boulder police said the attack is under investigation and are working to determine if that is the case, and that it's too early to speculate on the attacker's motive.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis posted on X, "I am closely monitoring the situation in Boulder, and my thoughts go out to the people who have been injured and impacted by this heinous act of terror. Hate-filled acts of any kind are unacceptable. While details emerge, the state works with local and federal law enforcement to support this investigation. More information will be provided as it becomes available."
Run For Their Lives, which organized the walk, said, "This is not a protest; it is a peaceful walk to show solidarity with the hostages and their families, and a plea for their release." The group met at 1 p.m. at Pearl Street and 8th Street to walk the length of the Pearl Street Mall and back with a stop at the courthouse for a video.

Jake Wallis Simons: Israel's War Against Hamas Is Succeeding. No Wonder the West Wants It to End
In 2022, before the war broke out, when Qatari money was pouring in, there were over 2,700 cases of malnutrition among impoverished children in Gaza under the age of five. That's what happens when your country is run by Islamist fanatics.Hamas Has Demands, but Few Cards to Play
Many hundreds of thousands of Sudanese children have suffered from malnutrition since the outbreak of war. With a population of 50 million, Sudan has received fewer than 1,500 truckloads of aid in the last two years. Gaza, whose population is 25 times smaller, has received 92,000 truckloads in the last 18 months.
The sorry truth is that all the aid agencies in Gaza, including the UN, have been compromised by Hamas. This is unsurprising given that they are staffed by Palestinians, who are under the totalitarian rule of the jihadis. 10% of UN employees - about 1,200 men - are card-carrying members of Hamas or Islamic Jihad, according to Israeli intelligence. Weapons and hostages have been found in UN facilities. Terrorists have operated from UN schools.
U.S. officials are increasingly frustrated by Hamas's partial responses to the U.S. ceasefire proposal, which attempt to portray acceptance of U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff's proposals while actually rejecting key clauses and insisting on changes.Avi Issacharoff: Hamas Chose Jihad over Gazans
The latest U.S. proposal dropped several contentious demands seen in earlier drafts. It did not specify withdrawal timelines, did not call for dismantling humanitarian distribution centers, and made no commitment to ending the war. This suggests that Washington senses Hamas's weakening grip. Hamas faces a crumbling hierarchy, loss of control over Gazans, a surprisingly efficient aid supply network in Gaza, and steady IDF advances with minimal casualties.
Washington believes that Hamas, cornered and weakened, is in no position to make sweeping demands. Israel's swift acceptance of the updated Witkoff framework helps secure continued American support for the military campaign and diplomatic cover at the international level.
Is Hamas nearing collapse? It no longer has a command structure that would allow it to operate like a military organization. Humanitarian aid is increasingly being distributed by an American organization, thereby depriving Hamas of its hold on civilians and its ability to generate income from the aid. More and more Gazans are now willing to speak out against Hamas.Huckabee: Paris should ‘carve out piece of French Riviera’ if it wants Palestinian state
But it would be a mistake to evaluate the intentions or actions of Hamas using Western eyes. Since Oct. 7, Hamas has repeatedly shown that it chooses Jihad over pragmatism, even if it would ease matters for the population or improve the terror group's military capabilities.
Hamas has shown no signs that it is willing to surrender or hand over its weapons. The anguish of the civilian population of Gaza has no impact on Hamas and the possible death of thousands more Palestinians and a few thousand terrorists would be considered a fair price to pay as long as the Hamas ideology, and therefore its military character, survives.
Hamas regards the survival of small bands of operatives working sporadically as a victory. To Hamas, the achievements come from its growing legitimacy and that of the Palestinian cause in the world.
U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee denounced France’s push for Palestinian statehood on Saturday, telling Fox News that Paris should instead “carve out a piece of the French Riviera” for the Palestinians.
“Oct. 7 changed a lot of things,” Huckabee said of Hamas’s 2023 murder spree that killed 1,200 people, primarily civilians. “If France is really so determined to see a Palestinian state, I have a suggestion for them—carve out a piece of the French Riviera and create a Palestinian state,” he continued.
“They are welcome to do that, but they are not welcome to impose that kind of pressure on a sovereign nation. And I find it revolting that they think they have the right to do such a thing,” he said.
The French Riviera, or Cรดte d’Azur, is a famed stretch of Mediterranean coastline in the southeastern part of France, renowned for its sun-drenched beaches, luxurious resorts and historic seaside towns.
On April 9, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that Paris “must move toward recognition” of a Palestinian state, warning that he could do so at a June global summit in New York hosted by France and Saudi Arabia.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz again came out against the move on Friday, threatening to strengthen Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria in response and saying that Macron’s declaration would be “thrown into the dustbin of history,” whereas “the State of Israel will flourish and thrive.”
“They will establish a Palestinian state on paper, but we will build the Jewish-Israeli state here on the ground,” he added.
Huckabee on Saturday urged Macron to reconsider, while emphasizing that the Trump administration “simply will not be a part of such a ruse.”
“It’s incredibly inappropriate in the midst of a war that Israel is dealing with … to go out and present something that, I think, increasingly Israelis are steadfast against,” the diplomat said in the interview with Fox News.

Fake News: CNN, BBC Ran Unverified Claims Israel Killed Palestinians at Aid Site
CNN and the BBC ran with fake news, pushed by Hamas, that claimed Sunday that dozens of Palestinians were killed at a U.S.-backed humanitarian aid site in Gaza, according to evidence released later in the day.IDF Denies Attacking Gaza Food Line after Hamas Claims Dozens Killed
As Breitbart News reported, Hamas claimed that more than 30 Palestinian civilians had been fired upon by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) at one of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) aid distribution sites.
The IDF denied it, and former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett also pushed back. As Bennett noted, major Western media outlets — notably CNN and the BBC — had run the story, and given it great prominence, without checking to verify whether the Hamas claimed were in fact accurate.
A source within GHF told Breitbart News that of the six days that the aid effort has been operational, Sunday was the most calm.
After a further investigation, the IDF released a statement:
In recent hours, false reports have been spread, including serious allegations against the IDF regarding fire toward Gazan residents in the area of the humanitarian aid distribution site in the Gaza Strip.
Findings from an initial inquiry indicate that the IDF did not fire at civilians while they were near or within the humanitarian aid distribution site and that reports to this effect are false.
The IDF is cooperating with the American Civil Organization (GHF) and international aid organizations in order to enable the distribution of aid to the Gazan residents — and not to Hamas.
Hamas does everything in its power to undermine food distribution efforts in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas is a brutal terrorist organization that starves and endangers the population in order to preserve its control over the Gaza Strip. As part of its brutal behavior and its attempts to disrupt humanitarian aid, Hamas directly harms the residents of Gaza.
The IDF calls on the media to be cautious with information published by the Hamas terrorist organization, as proven in several previous incidents.
If anyone killed Palestinians near an aid site, it was likely Hamas. The IDF later released drone footage of terrorists firing at civilians trying to obtain aid.
The IDF on Sunday denied that it had attacked a food line in Rafah after Hamas claimed dozens were killed in an Israeli strike.GHF proves IDF did not shoot at innocent Gazans at aid distribution sites
Al Jazeera quoted sources in Gaza who said 30 people were killed and over 100 wounded in a strike near the distribution center operated by the American Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). Major news outlets were quick to repeat the claim.
GHF said there was no IDF fire in the area of the distribution center.
GHF CEO John Ackery said on Saturday, "These false reports harm the work of our teams on the ground. There had not been any cases of deaths since our distribution efforts began."
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation distribution center in Rafah denied on Sunday claims that the IDF attacked a food distribution point near Rafah, contradicting widely circulated Hamas reports.
Security camera footage from Sunday's aid distribution site shows calm civilian activity, with no incidents reported. Aid was delivered without disruption, and the available evidence does not support claims of injuries or fatalities. While some media outlets have reported these allegations, others have contacted the organization to verify the facts, the GHF stated.
The IDF on Sunday denied the reports it fired at civilians near a humanitarian aid distribution site in Gaza, calling the allegations false based on an initial investigation. The IDF emphasized its cooperation with GHF and international aid groups to ensure aid reaches Gaza’s residents — not Hamas. The military accused Hamas of deliberately obstructing food distribution, harming civilians, and using starvation as a tool to maintain control. The IDF also urged media outlets to verify information carefully, warning against reliance on Hamas-sourced claims.
An IDF source reportedly clarified that during the night, roughly one kilometer from the humanitarian aid distribution area and outside its operating hours, troops took action to prevent several suspects from approaching their position. Evasive fire was allegedly directed at individuals advancing toward the forces. The military stressed that this incident is entirely unrelated to the false allegations of IDF fire at civilians near the aid site, according to the source.
Following the incident, the GHF denied claims of casualties and injuries at the aid distribution sites. "All aid was distributed today without incident. No injuries or fatalities. We have heard that these fake reports have been actively fomented by Hamas. They are untrue and fabricated," GHF noted.
The US-backed group said on Sunday that it had distributed over 4.7 million meals within six days.
"We’re scaling up as quickly as possible, but the truth is stark: for every truck we successfully bring into our network, other humanitarian groups are being looted before reaching those in need."

Masked gunmen shoot at Gazans seeking humanitarian aid
The Israel Defense Forces released drone footage on Sunday that shows armed and masked individuals in southern Khan Yunis attacking Gaza civilians who were attempting to collect humanitarian aid.
According to the IDF, the video, captured earlier in the day, shows men throwing rocks and firing weapons at fellow Palestinians trying to retrieve looted aid packages.
“Hamas is a brutal and murderous terrorist organization that is starving the residents of Gaza,” the IDF said in an official statement.
“Hamas is doing everything in its power to prevent the successful distribution of food in Gaza.”

IDF downs Houthi terror missile ahead of Shavuot
The Israel Defense Forces on Sunday afternoon intercepted a missile launched from Yemen by Iran-backed Houthi terrorists, according to the military.
Air-raid sirens sounded across central Israel—including in Tel Aviv and the Jerusalem area—prompting residents to seek shelter just hours before the start of Shavuot, the Jewish holiday commemorating the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The attack came just days after the IDF intercepted a Houthi-fired ballistic missile on Thursday evening, forcing millions of civilians in the Tel Aviv area and along the densely populated coastal plain into bomb shelters. Alerts were reported as far north as Netanya and as far south as Gedera.
The Houthis have escalated their assaults on Israel in recent weeks, including a direct hit near Ben-Gurion International Airport on May 4.
Early on Tuesday morning, the IDF intercepted a ballistic missile that was also launched by the terror group. The attack triggered air-raid sirens in the Jordan Valley, as well as several towns in Samaria. There were no reports of casualties or damage.
Hours later, the military announced that the Air Force had shot down another ballistic missile launched at Israel from Yemen. No sirens sounded for that attack, in line with existing policy, the IDF said.

IDF eliminates Hamas terrorist who led one of deadliest attacks of war
The Israel Defense Forces said on Sunday that it had eliminated Khalil Abd al-Nasser Muhammad Khatib, a senior Hamas terrorist responsible for an attack that killed 21 Israeli troops on Jan. 22, 2024.
Khatib, a cell commander in Hamas’s Al Mawasi battalion, was killed in a joint operation of the IDF and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), according to the military.
“During a reconnaissance mission, following an intelligence-gathering effort, IDF troops identified the terrorist and then directed an aircraft which struck and eliminated him,” the IDF stated.
Khatib commanded a terrorist cell that on June 22, 2024 launched anti-tank missiles at buildings in which Israeli soldiers were operating, as well as at an IDF tank squad securing the area, killing 21 soldiers, the military said.
A total of 24 soldiers were killed in two separate Hamas attacks that day, marking one of the deadliest days for the army since it launched the ground invasion in Gaza in response to Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, massacre.
Throughout the war, Khatib was “involved in and advanced numerous terror attacks against IDF troops,” according to the Sunday statement.

'I had a plan to do it': Chilling confession of freed British-Israeli hostage Emily Damari who revealed that she had planned her own suicide during 471 'terrible' days in Gaza captivity
Freed British-Israeli hostage Emily Damari has revealed how she fought a Hamas guard and planned her own suicide during 471 'terrible' days held in Gaza.'Hamas couldn't know I was gay': Emily Damari reveals shocking details of Gaza captivity
The 28-year-old has spoken for the first time on how she was held in houses booby trapped with dynamite and in terror tunnels so silent 'it murders the ears'.
Emily, who lost two fingers on October 7 when terrorists shot her hand, also concealed that she has had relationships with women from the Islamist extremists fearing they would kill her if they found out.
Incredibly, she earned the respect of her captors who dressed her in a hijab and snuck her onto the roof of a Gaza apartment to glimpse the sea during a terrifying bombardment.
It comes as the IDF released haunting 'trophy pictures' they found on a Hamas hard drive that the terror group took of Emily during surgery in Gaza on the day she was kidnapped.
She is seen unconscious on an operating table in Al-Shifa Hospital with blood splatters across a hijab she was forced to wear.
Another image shows her sat captive in an ankle-length black and white dress, her bloodied left hand bandaged up during her first days held hostage in a Gaza apartment.
Emily was cowering in a bomb shelter with her best friend Gali Berman, 27, at home in Kfar Aza by the Gaza border when Hamas stormed the kibbutz and slaughtered her neighbours.
The terrorists killed Emily's dog, shot her in the hand and leg, and dragged them both into Gaza along with Ziv, Gali's twin brother.
A Palestinian doctor calling himself 'Dr Hamas' then carelessly stitched the nerves in Emily's hand together leaving her in endless pain for over 15 months in captivity.
The British-Israeli reveals her ordeal for the first time to Israeli journalist Yigal Mosko for Channel 12 documentary 'Through Emily's Eyes' which aired last night.
She was hugging her pillow in the shelter with Gali when she heard the terrorists breaking her window before they broke in and shot her left hand.
'The bullet entered and split my fingers,' she said. 'I shouted to him, 'Gali, they destroyed my hand!'
The pain was so extreme she passed out, and came to moments later to the terrorists shouting at her beloved pet Cockapoo Chucha.
'I hear them saying, 'Dog! Dog!' in Arabic. Chucha is sitting, looking at them, and they shoot her. Chucha's bullet is the one that entered my leg.'
Emily was then lifted and carried into her own car, alongside Gali, and they were blindfolded and kidnapped into Gaza.
Released hostage Emily Damari said that when she was in captivity, her Hamas captors couldn't know that she preferred women, she revealed in an N12 interview published on Sunday.
"They must not know such a thing. From their perspective, they think it's a sickness," she said.
Damari added that she had questioned her Hamas captor what he would do if he discovered his brother was gay, to which he responded that he would "murder him."
She also revealed that during captivity, she was questioned why she wasn't married.
"That's just how it is," she told her captor. "I keep to myself, I'm a good girl."
Damari said that her captors gave her nicknames, calling her "Saja'iya, which means hero - they told me, I told them that I'm not, but it stuck for a while, and then they referred to me as John Cena from the WWE."
Damari said that she would do a lot of sit-ups to release energy while held hostage, and told N12 that she even asked her captors how the underground tunnels in Gaza were built.
Being held hostage in a civilian family's home
Damari said that days after she was abducted, she ended up being held in a civilian family home that had children. She was held there with Ziv and other hostages, she added, noting that she could hear airstrikes every day.
"One day, a blast came and completely blew up the house. I saw it with my own eyes—I was in the room with Ziv, and I saw from the window a building a meter away engulfed in flames." She, Ziv, and the other hostages were taken to different houses after the blast, 40 days after their abduction.
The day she was separated from Ziv was also the day she reunited with Romi Gonen, who recognized her instantly, she told N12. When she was taken from the destroyed house to an underground tunnel, she saw Gonen, Liri Albag, Agam Berger, and two children - Dafna and Ela Elyakim.
Damari and Gonen then revealed to N12 that they had briefly considered suicide while in captivity.
Damari was released from Hamas captivity in January alongside Gonen and hostage Doron Steinbrecher, who all spent nearly 500 days in Gaza.
Not only did Emily Damari survive over a year in captivity, she also stood up to her captors and defended fellow hostages, even at the risk of her own life.

The Essence of Antisemitism
The essence of antisemitism was laid bare to me by what happened on the day after Oct. 7, 2023, and every day since. It was laid bare by listening to people call into talk-radio programs in the U.S. and debate whether babies were beheaded or "just murdered and burned," as if that is a relevant distinction.‘Easy to stop’: Rise of antisemitism in Australia attributed to ‘lack of leadership’
It was laid bare watching LGBTQ activists march in support of Hamas, even though they'd be murdered for their identity in Gaza, but welcomed in Israel. It was laid bare as supposed intellectuals stated that the murder, rape, torture and kidnapping of civilians were somehow legitimate forms of "resistance."
It was laid bare by false reports of "war crimes" by Israel, without mention that Hamas has been committing actual war crimes since 2005 by indiscriminately launching thousands of rockets at Israeli civilians. It was laid bare by my alma mater, Harvard University, that holds lectures on "microaggressions," but then allows protesters to chant "Kill the Jews" at campus rallies. It was laid bare by Western media trying to show "balance" and "both sides" of the story, as if terrorism and the response to terrorism are equivalent.
It was laid bare as people demanded the creation of a Palestinian state - the 58th Muslim-majority country - to replace the only Jewish country in the world - whose "Zionist empire" is the size of New Jersey. It was laid bare by much of the world's response, or lack of response, to Hamas and its actions. Long after Hamas is gone, antisemitism will still be here. The issue isn't where Jews live, but that Jews have the audacity to live.
Holocaust survivor Eddy Boas says the rise of antisemitism in Australia is “absolutely concerning” and claims “it’s easy to stop”.
Mr Boas organised a Holocaust survivors’ reunion event on Sunday for survivors from Sydney and Melbourne, with 2,200 holocaust survivors residing in Australia.
Mr Boas claimed antisemitism in Australia can be attributed to the “lack of leadership” from the Albanese government.
“Just punish the people that do the stupid things, not give them a slap on the hands and they can do it again tomorrow,” Mr Boas said.
‘Absolutely horrible’: Antisemitism in Australia has become ‘crazed’
Sky News contributor Joe Hildebrand says people who have learnt about the holocaust and continue to say antisemitism is not real are “not a human being”.
The New South Wales parliament hosted a holocaust survivors’ reunion on Sunday, which was attended by 90 survivors.
“It is absolutely horrible,” Mr Hildebrand said.
“Antisemitism is a really specific kind of racial hatred.
“This is a really, really crazed, specific thing.
“This is stuff that just doesn’t translate to any other form of prejudice.”
Israeli man was the only person arrested at 2023 Palestinian Sydney Opera House protest
Sky News host Rowan Dean blasts attendees of the October 9 Sydney Opera House Palestinian protests, claiming the only man arrested during the protests was a man carrying the Israeli flag.
“No arrests that night, no security guards banging on about bylaws being breached, nobody being harassed for waving massive flags and placards and letting off flares,” Mr Dean said.
“No heavy security dudes exercising ‘my authority’ and getting upset about people arguing with them.
“In fact, the only person that police did arrest that night was one single man carrying a Star of David flag – you cowards, you bullies.”

Greta Thunberg joins flotilla to ‘break illegal siege of Gaza’
Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg will set sail to the Gaza Strip on Sunday in an attempt to “break Israel’s illegal siege of Gaza,” the Hamas-linked Freedom Flotilla Coalition has announced.Erin Molan: What will happen when GRETA THUNBERG arrives in GAZA?! Erin Molan knows… and it won’t be pretty…
Liam Cunningham, the Irish actor mostly known for his role in HBO series “Game of Thrones,” is slated to join the voyage from Catania, Sicily, as well, the group declared.
This will mark the group’s second attempt to breach Israel’s maritime blockade. On May 2, the “Conscious” was reportedly attacked en route to Gaza by drones in international waters off the coast of Malta.
The FFC accused Israel of carrying out the strike, but Jerusalem has remained tight-lipped about the incident.
Ahead of embarking on the “Madleen” vessel reportedly carrying supplies for Gazans, Thunberg issued a statement about the cause of the voyage.
“The world cannot be silent bystanders,” she said. “This silence and passivity that we are seeing from most of the world is deadly. We are seeing a systematic starvation of 2 million people. Every single one of us has a moral obligation to do everything we can to fight for a free Palestine.”
Greta Thunberg will get quite a shock when she arrives in Gaza - if she manages to make it… Erin Molan delivers the faux activist some home truths ahead of her journey to ‘stop Israel’… and ‘save innocents’…

Wall Street Journal Subtly Blames Israel for Antisemitic Shooting Attack
There is a “war in Gaza,” there is “Netanyahu’s expansion” of the war, a “new offensive” by Israel in the war and a “more than two-month-long blockade.” The October 7 attack is mentioned, but only in the context of an Israeli who is “embarrassed and afraid” of the “the toll [the war] is taking on Palestinians in Gaza, particularly children.” Again, the article fails to mention the brutality of the October 7 attack or clearly state that was the cause of the war.
And a third article, “D.C. Shooting Alarms Jewish Groups Already Hit by Rising Antisemitism,” by Douglas Belkin and Kris Maher, also dated May 22, said in the “Key Points,” that “synagogues and Jewish centers are facing rising antisemitism fueled by the Gaza war.” The text relays that “news of the deaths [of Milgrim and Lischinsky] rippled through synagogues and Jewish community centers already facing a sharp rise in antisemitism fueled by the war in Gaza.” The article further stated, “the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh’s offices were spray-painted last July with a message saying the organization ‘funds genocide.’” Here, the cause of the war was omitted completely.
The impression created in all three articles is that Israel’s aggression in Gaza has caused hostility to Jews around the world, including Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky. But the reality is that Israel is fighting a war of self-defense, and the barbaric Hamas attack on Israel not only caused the war, but also sent out a signal to those around the world who already hated Jews. It emboldened them to act on that hatred – to, in their own parlance, “Globalize the Intifada”– as the alleged shooter at the Jewish Museum did. The Wall Street’s Journal’s reporting, like so much else, inverts cause and effect to blame Israel for attacks on Jews around the world.
It’s Howard Jacobson without the ASHamed irony.

Pennsylvania man accused of telling official ‘go back to Israel or better yet, exterminate yourself’
Edward Arthur Owens Jr. of Elizabeth, Pa., was arrested on Friday and charged with threatening to harm a public official, at whom the 29-year-old allegedly directed antisemitic statements, according to the U.S. attorney’s office for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Owens is accused of sending a social media message to a “local public official,” whom the U.S. Justice Department didn’t name, on May 20, stating that “we’re coming for you” and “be afraid” and adding a German flag image.
“Go back to Israel or better yet, exterminate yourself and save us the trouble,” Owens allegedly wrote. “109 countries for a reason. We will not stop until your kind is nonexistent.”
The Justice Department cited the Anti-Defamation League and stated that the reference to 109 countries “is an antisemitic assertion that Jews have been expelled from 109 different countries,” which “is used by antisemites to call for the expulsion of Jews from other countries and otherwise to promote hatred.”
“The recipient of the message is a local official who regularly engages with the public,” the Justice Department stated.
A hearing is scheduled on the government’s motion to order Owens detained until the trial on June 5, as it claims he is a danger to others.
According to TribLive, a friend of the defendant said that he has made antisemitic statements, and although Owens said he was “blackout drunk” when he sent the message, he wasn’t observed to be drinking that day.
The Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle, which didn’t name the official, reported that the person told the paper, “I’m worried for my safety and for my family’s safety and worried for people who work in this office.”
