From Ian:

Victor Davis Hanson: Hamas and Amoral Clarity
Some of the most vehement current supporters of the Hamas death squads were immigrants to America from the Middle East.

Oddly, they apparently had fled just such illiberal Middle East regimes to reach a tolerant, democratic, and secure United States.

Yet they now endorse the Hamas butchering of Jewish civilians. Its savagery is aimed at executing, raping, and beheading Jews, and then mutilating their bodies.

Hamas apparently hopes to shock the Israeli government into voluntarily committing suicide—in line with the ancient Hamas agenda to destroy the Jewish state.

In a strange way, this reign of death has become a touchstone, an acid test of sorts that has revealed the utter amorality of enemies abroad and quite dangerous people at home.

It is past time that Americans deal with the medieval world that was revealed this week rather than keep dreaming in the fantasy world of our government.

Americans need to stop illegal immigration and restore their southern border, while ceasing all immigration from unhinged, hostile nations.

The military must return to its deterrent role and fire its woke commissariat.

Our leaders must accept that in the last three years of the Biden administration, serial American appeasement abroad, disunity at home, and social chaos have encouraged an entire host of enemies —China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Middle East illiberal regimes, and former friends like Turkey and Qatar.

And our enemies dream of doing to us what we just saw in Israel.
NGO Monitor: NGO Complicity in Hamas Propaganda on Gaza Hospital
In the evening (Israel local time) of Tuesday, October 17, the Hamas-run Ministry of Health in Gaza claimed that an Israeli airstrike hit Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, killing hundreds of civilians. An initial response from the IDF stated that the incident was under review; later, the IDF shared videos, images, and intelligence materials demonstrating that an Islamic Jihad rocket had failed to launch properly (i.e. target Israeli civilians) and instead hit the hospital parking lot. President Biden acknowledged this conclusion.

Many NGOs immediately adopted the Hamas narrative of Israeli culpability, even though there was no evidence to support it. Certainly, the NGO statements came too quickly to have conducted even a rudimentary investigation and without any attempt to verify the circumstances surrounding the incident. No NGO called into question the veracity of a claim, from a genocidal terror-run institution, that it would be possible within minutes of the night-time incident to document that hundreds had been killed.

The irresponsible responses reflect three central dimensions of the NGO role in armed conflicts involving Israel. First, as part of their wider anti-Israel campaigns, NGOs constantly seek opportunities to demonize Israel and promote Palestinian victimization myths. Attaching a horrific mass casualty incident to Israel – regardless of proof – would be a major advance in their obsessive political war against the Jewish state.

Second, the UN and other international actors rely extensively on NGOs to reinforce narratives and provide ostensible evidence and testimonies regarding events. As with numerous previous incidents featuring misreporting by the same network of NGOs, the statements on the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital demonstrate their lack of credibility. To be sure, this will not stop the UN from impugning its own reports by copying the NGOs.

Third, this incident reflects the abject failure of the humanitarian aid framework in Gaza and the need for a systematic independent investigation. For years, UN agencies and humanitarian NGOs turned a blind eye to terror actors’ diversion of humanitarian aid to produce rockets, build terror tunnels and other instruments, and to personally enrich themselves at the expense of ordinary Gazans. The UN and NGO community have ignored, and in many cases, openly covered up the embedding and co-locating of Hamas weaponry within civilian infrastructure like schools, mosques, and hospitals. Their complicity in crimes against humanity is immoral, has entrenched the conflict, and further endangered millions of Palestinians and Israelis.
We Know Terror
Black Americans know the pains and the agony of being terrorized. Celebrating it is an outrage, and an insult—to us.

On the morning of Saturday, Oct. 7, I woke early. I had a flight to catch out of a small town in Washington where I had given a talk, and I was making my way through the airport when I saw a television screen tuned to CNN. It was showing the gruesome images from Hamas’ attack on Israel, making it very clear that the assault was still ongoing.

Immediately, it reminded me of a feeling I had hoped I would never feel again. It was the feeling I felt on Sept. 11, 2001, when I was getting ready for work, watching the morning news and seeing a plane fly into the Twin Towers.

It was the feeling I felt when I watched George Floyd, violently pinned to the ground and hollering out for his mother.

Immediately, I felt a sense of pain, a sense of anguish. Immediately, I felt a sense of fear for my brothers and my sisters in the Jewish community. And the reason why I felt it was because I knew how I felt about seeing George Floyd, and how that reminded me of a time that I thought was far gone, the days of Jim Crow, the days of ancient slavery. Watching George Floyd’s murder, I couldn’t believe I was witnessing the sort of brutality against Black Americans I thought had passed from the world. Watching innocent Jewish men, women, and children being slaughtered just for being Jews made me think of days I thought had passed from the world with the Holocaust.

And yet, here I was, watching evil unfold before my very eyes. And it hit my soul.

I wanted to call every single one of my Jewish friends, but it was Shabbat, and a holiday to boot, and I knew that none of them would pick up the phone. So I did the only other thing I could think of: I said a prayer and asked God to intervene, to provide the shelter he promised in Psalm 46—to be our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

So it pained me, greatly, to see, not long afterward, several chapters of Black Lives Matter come out in support not of the victims but of the terrorist group Hamas. Celebrating any form of terrorism is disgusting and should be condemned, especially as we Black Americans, of all people, know the pains and the agony of being terrorized. We know what it feels like. We know what it feels like to be gunned down, to be chased, to be mutilated, to be kidnapped. We know what it’s like for our women to be raped, for our children to be killed. And for anyone to align themselves with an agenda that celebrates any terrorist group or any act of terrorism is an insult to where we’ve come from and could unravel the works of support and healing that we are so feverishly working toward.

When Hamas Attacked, This Israeli Kibbutz Fought Back and Won
At 6:56 a.m. on Oct. 7, Moshe Kaplan sent an urgent alert to his volunteer security force in Mefalsim, a kibbutz where he served as security chief. "There's a shooting in the village from the gate!" he texted after militants fired at his car as he drove past the main entrance. He had trained a dozen men for this moment, a surprise attack from nearby Gaza.

More than two dozen Hamas fighters from Gaza had arrived with orders to subdue the small security force. The volunteers rushed from their homes in helmets and protective vests, toting M16 rifles. Outnumbered and fighting alone or in pairs, the men mounted a life-or-death stand.

Shaked Porat, 43, part of Mefalsim's security force, saw four armed men in vests and black jeans. Porat realized they were militants and started shooting. A resident who watched the exchange of gunfire from an upstairs window yelled a warning to Porat: "They are throwing grenades!" Porat ducked and escaped injury. When one of the militants ran from a yard into the open, Porat shot him. A second attacker raised his head from behind the car, and Porat said he shot him, too. The others ran away.

A group of militants made their way to a dormitory for foreign workers employed in the kibbutz. A dozen Thai workers hiding there were loaded at gunpoint onto a wagon pulled by a tractor that steered toward the front gate. They were intercepted by the security volunteers. One of the kibbutz defenders shot at the wagon, and the militants fled, leaving the workers behind.

David Rosenberg, a member of the volunteer force, stood on his second-floor balcony where he kept watch on Mefalsim's southeast fence, armed with his M16. He saw a truck carrying a dozen armed men and a motorcycle ferrying two gunmen roaring across an open field toward the fence.

Rosenberg and Eli Levi, 48, start shooting at the attackers, together with Noam Kazaz, 52. Their heavy gunfire prompted the motorcycle driver to turn around. The men riding on the truck jumped off and flattened on the ground. Levi thought he could see several had been hit. They kept shooting for the next 90 minutes - until Israeli soldiers arrived. No Mefalsim residents were killed or taken hostage.
A Survivor's Account from Kibbutz Nir Oz
Neomit Dekel-Chen, 63, has been a resident of Kibbutz Nir Oz for the last 30 years. "After a half hour of nonstop red-alert sirens and incoming missiles, we started receiving messages that Hamas terrorists were everywhere in the kibbutz....I went into the security room alone. I heard all around people speaking Arabic; they had entered my house, they were breaking everything."

After the room started filling up with smoke, she ran out to escape, but "They captured me. They caught my neighbor too....They led me barefoot in the direction of the fields, to the back gate of the kibbutz, toward Gaza. Along the way I saw houses in flames, and I understood no one was going to get out of those burning houses alive....We walked for about 150 meters on the road toward Gaza. I saw the terrorists walking with their loot, bulging suitcases, televisions, electric wagons used by elders. They had taken everything."

"I was with a neighbor who told me they had killed her son and taken her husband....A tuktuk vehicle pulling an open cart stopped beside us. In the cart there were five people, all from the kibbutz. My good friend was there with three little girls, two of them only 3 years old....They continued to drive with us back toward Gaza, when an IDF helicopter appeared above us. At some point the helicopter shot at the terrorists.

"All the terrorists were dead and we were alive, except for one of the women with us. She had died in the arms of her daughter, who had come to the kibbutz to visit and now would not leave her mother. I took one of the little girls in my arms, another friend took a second little girl and we started running towards the fields."

"I was hit with shrapnel in my head, knee and back. I was bleeding. I lay down on the ground and a tractor showed up....There were terrorists on it....I decided to play dead - and they didn't take me. They took the three little girls...everyone who was there and still alive. They took them all to Gaza. More terrorists in more cars drove by, loaded with the things they had looted."

"Every time more terrorists drove by, I played dead again, which I could do as I was covered in blood.... I lifted up my head and saw the kibbutzim in flames - Magen, Nir Oz and Nirim. They were all burning."
Survivor of Hamas Festival Attack Tells a D.C. Synagogue Her Story
Noa Ben Artzi, 25, barely survived the massacre at a music festival in Israel on Oct. 7. She told American Jewish leaders on Tuesday that when Hamas gunmen overran the festival site in Re'im, she took cover in a small cement shelter with other concertgoers.

"Thirty people fell on top of me. Everyone wanted to save their life," she said. "Next thing I know, they're throwing five grenades inside, body parts are flying around, and all I hear around me is people suffocating, people on top of one another and a lot of shots from within." She recalled how the attackers burned bodies at the entrance to the shelter, filling it with smoke. Some people fled the shelter in search of fresh air, only to be shot when they stepped out. The attack left at least 260 people dead - part of a multipronged assault in which Hamas killed at least 1,400 people in Israel and took 200 hostages into Gaza.

Israeli family of 5, slain in each others’ arms by Hamas, is laid to rest
An Israeli family of five whose bodies were discovered in each other’s arms after they were killed by Hamas terrorists during a devastating onslaught earlier this month, were buried together in a funeral attended by hundreds of mourners.

Family and friends bid farewell Tuesday to the Kotz family — a couple and their three children, who were gunned down in their home at Kibbutz Kfar Aza, during the murderous invasion of southern Israel on October 7. They were buried side by side in a graveyard at Gan Yavne, 30 miles (50 kilometers) west of Jerusalem.

War erupted when some 2,500 Hamas gunmen breached the border fence with the Gaza Strip and poured into Israel, slaughtering over 1,400 people, as they rampaged through southern regions. At least 1,000 of those slain were civilians. Some victims — including children — were mutilated, tortured, or raped. Thousands more were injured. In the hours until the IDF could end in incursion, nearly 200 other people, of all ages, were abducted and taken back to Gaza as captives. The attack came alongside a barrage of 5,000 rockets fired at Israeli towns and cities, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Hamas has continued to rain rockets on southern and central Israel since then.

At Kfar Aza, a kibbutz of around 765 residents, located five kilometers (three miles) east of northern Gaza, the entire civil defense team was killed. In total, more than 70 kibbutz members were murdered by the terrorists.

Aviv and Livnat Kotz, their daughter, Rotem, and sons, Yonatan and Yiftach, were found dead on a bed embracing each other, a family member said.

The family had moved to Israel from Boston and four years ago built the home at the kibbutz where Aviv had grown up, his wife’s sister, Adi Levy Salma, told the Israeli news outlet Ynet.

“We told her it’s dangerous, but she did not want to move away, as it was her home for life,” Levy Salma said.

US vetoes Gaza war UN resolution that doesn’t stress Israeli right to self-defense
The United States on Wednesday vetoed a UN Security Council resolution calling for a “humanitarian pause” in the raging Israel-Hamas war because the text did not include respect for Israel’s right to defend itself.

“The United States is disappointed this resolution made no mention of Israel’s right of self-defense,” said US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield. “Like every nation in the world, Israel has the inherent right of self-defense, as reflected in Article 51 of the UN Charter.”

The envoy added that “following previous terrorist attacks by groups such as al-Qaeda and ISIS, this council reaffirmed that right. This text should have done the same.”

Twelve out of 15 council members voted in favor of the resolution put forward by Brazil and negotiated over several days, while Russia and the United Kingdom abstained.

The United States was the only vote against, but as one of the body’s five permanent members, its vote counts as a veto.

The resolution said the council “firmly condemns all violence and hostilities against civilians and all acts of terrorism.”

It said the body “unequivocally rejects and condemns the heinous terrorist attacks by Hamas… and the taking of hostages” and also “urges all parties to fully comply with their obligations under international law.” A Russian version of the resolution voted down on Tuesday did not even mention Hamas.

Thomas-Greenfield said following the vote that US President Joe Biden was in the region engaging in diplomacy to secure the release of hostages, prevent the conflict from spreading and stress the need to protect civilians: “We need to let that diplomacy play out,” she said. Advertisement

She said resolutions are important and the Security Council must speak out, “but the actions we take must be informed by the facts on the ground and support direct diplomacy efforts that can save lives — the council needs to get this right.”

PA denies Hamas murdered Israeli civilians, claims it fought “military squads”
Official PA TV, special broadcast on Hamas’ terror war on Israel
Official PA TV political commentator Mahmoud Khalouf: “There are saddening positions that justify the slaughter of unarmed [Palestinian] civilians [in Gaza], and we are hearing them from a number of capitals in Europe and Washington. It is forbidden under any circumstances to respond to a military operation (i.e., Hamas’ massacre) – military squads against military squads – with a genocide of unarmed [Palestinian] civilians. This proves the extent to which [Israeli PM] Netanyahu’s government has reached complete [moral] bankruptcy.”
[Official PA TV, Oct. 11, 2023]

Hamas war on Israel October 2023 - At least 1,300 Israelis were murdered and over 3,300 wounded, in addition to at least 199 Israelis who were abducted into the Gaza Strip, in a Hamas terror war that began when approximately 2,500 Hamas terrorists broke through Israel's security fence at the Gaza Strip border and launched a surprise attack, taking control of several Israeli towns and attacking a music festival on the Jewish holiday of Shemini Atzeret (Simchat Torah), which fell on the Sabbath, Oct. 7, 2023. Hamas terrorists also fired at least 5,000 rockets at Israeli population centers. In response, Israel launched Operation Iron Swords to counter the Hamas terror threat. Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon joined Hamas' terror war starting from the following day, attacking Israel from the north.

Fatah’s terror wing thanks Allah for Hamas massacre against Israel, brags of its own terror “behind enemy lines”
The Fatah Movement – Bethlehem Branch shared a video and text posted by the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades (Fatah’s military wing) on its Telegram channel The video shows Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades Spokesman Abu Muhammad wearing a military uniform and yellow Fatah headband, with his faced masked by a keffiyeh (Arab headdress). In the background is an image showing a masked Fatah terrorist with a yellow Fatah headband taking an Israeli soldier captive, and masked Fatah terrorists holding machine guns and rocket launchers on top of an Israeli tank with an Israeli military facility in the background.

Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades Spokesman Abu Muhammad: “Praise Allah who strengthened and supported, humiliated and defeated, and turned the Zionists into a lesson for those who are watching… We’re fighting with the rest of the resistance factions (i.e., terror groups) in ‘the Al-Aqsa Flood’ battle, by the power of Allah and with His help… It has already become clear that the end of the thieving occupier’s imaginary entity is near… The Al-Aqsa [Martyrs’] Brigades, together with the rest of the Palestinian resistance factions, carried out several operations (i.e., terror attacks) behind enemy lines as part of ‘the Al-Aqsa Flood’ battle, which constituted a crossroads in the history of our struggle with the occupier, and praise Allah, we killed and took captive occupation soldiers (sic. the majority were civilians) … Together with the rest of the Palestinian resistance factions, and as part of the joint operations room, we succeeded in moving from defense to attack. This emphasizes that there are new rules in the struggle, and the cowardly enemy will not be able – despite all the technology it has – to defeat our fighters… This battle is a new defeat for [Israeli Prime Minister] Netanyahu and his trembling army… We inflicted on them heavy losses and great humiliation that the enemy won’t be able to ignore. We emphasize to all our people that we will continue, together with the rest of the resistance factions, in this battle until the occupation’s aggression against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, our occupied lands, and everywhere in Palestine are stopped. This is a revolution until victory; the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades – Palestine.”

PA TV: Let Gaza become Stalingrad to “teach the Israeli occupation a lesson”
Official PA TV, special broadcast on Hamas’ terror war on Israel
Official PA TV political commentator Riyad Helles: “The Gaza Strip must become a Palestinian Stalingrad, so that they will teach the Israeli occupation a lesson it will not forget. The Palestinian resolve is exemplary, a legend of resolve... The people is standing against the Israeli attack that is being supported by the US and European states.” [Official PA TV, Oct. 15, 2023]

The Battle of Stalingrad was a turning point in World War II in which the Soviets defeated the Nazis. Both sides suffered enormous casualties.

ANOTHER BBC ‘EXPLANATION’ OF ITS REFUSAL TO NAME TERRORISM

"They're SO Out Of Touch!" - Rod Liddle HITS Out At BBC For Refusal To Label Hamas As 'Terrorists'
The BBC's refusal to refer to Hamas murderers as 'terrorists' has been heavily criticised by the Government.

Rod Liddle joins Nicola Thorp and Jeremy Kyle on Talk Today to debate whether the broadcaster should change its terminology on its coverage of the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Liddle hits out at BBC executives for their "crass stupidity" in their refusal to call Hamas 'terrorists', as pressure begins to mount.

"They never read the room, they're incapable because they're out of touch with the people who pay for their existence!"

A BBC spokesperson has said it was a long-standing position for its reporters not to use the term themselves unless attributing it to someone else.

Since then, the British Broadcasting Corporation has taken six reporters in the Middle East off air and launched an investigation into posts on social media that seemed to support activities of Hamas against Israel.

The broadcaster has strict rules on impartiality, which cover its reporters’ activities on social media.
