01/11 Links Pt2: Democrats were for riots before they were against them; UAE reunites two more Jewish Yemeni families split for decades

From Ian:

Democrats were for riots before they were against them
In 2018, the media was writing up glowing stories about the hundreds of Women’s March members who were engaging in "direct action” to disrupt the Senate’s Kavanaugh hearings.

Hundreds of members from the radical leftist group had invaded the hearings and were arrested. Their travel expenses and bail for the disruptions were covered by the Women’s March.

Radicals from the March and other leftist groups blocked hallways, shouted down Senate members, and draped protest banners from balconies. Democrats cheered them on.

When a leftist mob assailed the Supreme Court, pounding on the doors, MSNBC called it an “extraordinary moment” and praised the crowd, “besieging the Supreme Court” and “confronting senators”.

"If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them," Rep. Maxine Waters had urged earlier that year.

Later, the Democrat House member told MSNBC, "They’re going to absolutely harass them".

In 2020, Black Lives Matter rioters vandalized the Lincoln Memorial and the WW2 Memorial, along with statues of Gandhi, General Kosciuszko, and Andrew Jackson. The racist thugs marched through the city starting fires, including at a historic church, and tried to besiege the White House. Attempts by federal law enforcement to fight BLM terrorism were falsely denounced as a brutal attack on “peaceful protesters”, and as “militarism” and “fascism”.

Democrat House members took to proposing bills to protect the racist mobs from law enforcement. Meanwhile the BLM mob besieged the White House and battled Secret Service personnel, allegedly forcing the evacuation of President Trump and his family to a bunker.

This was the new normal enthusiastically supported by Democrats and the media.

A bail fund backed by Senator Kamala Harris and Biden campaign staffers focused on helping the rioters and looters get out of prison. Along with any other criminals along for the ride.

‘Trivializing the Holocaust as Dangerous as Denying It:’ Fox News Host Pirro Slammed for ‘Kristallnacht’ Comparison
Fox News host Jeanine Pirro’s comparison on Monday of a political row over the hosting of a social media app with the Nazi regime’s Nov. 9, 1938 nationwide pogrom against Germany’s Jewish community drew a sharp rebuke from a senior US Jewish leader and Holocaust survivor, who warned that “trivializing the Holocaust is as dangerous as denying it.”

Speaking on her Monday morning show, Pirro accused tech giants Google, Apple and Amazon of having suppressed news stories that could have potentially harmed President-elect Joe Biden’s election campaign.

“And now that they’ve won, what we’re seeing is a kind of censorship that is akin to a Kristallnacht, where they decide what we can communicate about,” Pirro declared, referring to the decision of all three platforms to stop hosting Parler, an app that has become increasingly popular with militant supporters of Donald Trump in the wake of Twitter’s permanent ban on the US President.

Pirro’s analogy was condemned by Abraham Foxman — a Holocaust survivor and the national director emeritus of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) who now heads the Center for the Study of Antisemitism at New York City’s Museum of Jewish Heritage — A Living Memorial to the Holocaust.

“Stay away from the Holocaust, especially if you’re ignorant about it,” Foxman told The Algemeiner on Monday afternoon.

“Kristallnacht was about Jewish lives, not freedom of speech,” Foxman explained. “Trivializing the Holocaust is as dangerous as denying it, and that’s what she was engaged in.”

“Kristallnacht” (Night of the Broken Glass) — the more common term for what historians of the Nazi period call Reichspogromnacht — erupted across Germany, Austria and occupied Czechoslovakia on Nov. 9 and 10, 1938, as members of the SA paramilitary and other Nazi thugs rampaged against Jewish-owned business and community institutions.

The Nazi-orchestrated violence took the lives of hundreds of Jews, according to the Holocaust Encyclopedia. More than 250 synagogues were ransacked and destroyed during the pogrom, while up to 30,000 Jewish men were arrested and deported to concentrations camps.

Twitter CEO Glad Trump is Only Leader that Incites Violence (satire)
After permanently banning President Donald Trump from his platform, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey says he is greatly relieved that the problem of world leaders inciting violence on his platform has been permanently solved.

“Removing a world leader for using his account to promote violent acts is a dramatic step,” Dorsey acknowledged. “Banning Trump could have all sorts of implications if there were other world leaders, let’s say, promising to bomb America and wipe another country off the map, or if a nation were using our platform to celebrate an ongoing genocide.”

“Luckily there was only one bad man, and he’s gone now,” Dorsey added.

As of press time, the world has finally been freed from violence after Apple removed Parler, an alternative social media platform, from its app store.

Report: Lockdown Could End in 4 Weeks Depending on Morbidity Trends and Number of Vaccinations
Israel’s Health Ministry will consider starting lockdown relief in two weeks if morbidity data continue to fall. The move will depend on weighing the morbidity data as well as the immunization program. A source in the Health Ministry told Kan 11 News that a situation assessment is expected towards the end of this week, based on the trending of coronavirus morbidity.

On Sunday, it was reported that the measure for progress toward easing the lockdown would be the number of vaccinated Israelis who have received both doses, and not necessarily the number of infected or sick patients.

There are two schools of thought in the government: one believes that once 2.5 million citizens have been vaccinated with both doses it would be possible to open up the economy. In contrast, the other school is talking about the need for 5 million Israelis who have received the double dose.

At the current rate, the gap between the two schools stands at 3 to 4 weeks, or a difference of tens of billions of shekels to the economy.

Whether or not one school overcomes the other, there are some in government who promise a sharp return to the routine economy, suggesting there won’t be a gradual reopening but for a binary move – when there is a significant share of vaccinated people in Israel, the economy can be brought back to life.

On the other hand, officials in the Health Ministry said on Monday morning that even when Israel comes out of the lockdown, no matter how long it lasts, life will not immediately return to where it was in before the lockdown. They warn there won’t be full trade, including the opening of malls, for a long time, and that exiting from the lockdown will be gradual.
Vaccinating the Palestinians Is in Israel’s Interest
Israel then must take action, take responsibility, and ensure the inoculation of all of its residents west of the Jordan River. Such a move is necessary to deal effectively with the pandemic, but there are other significant advantages from Israel’s perspective.

Alongside the praise for Israel’s vaccination campaign, there has been no shortage of criticism in the global media, in particular in self-described “progressive” outlets, that Israel has made no effort to vaccinate the Palestinians. A vaccination campaign led by Israel would undoubtedly bolster its image among its friends and allies, and, should they take part logistically and financially, of its new friends such as the United Arab Emirates, making such a move doubly beneficial from a diplomatic perspective.

Yet the greatest significance of a campaign to vaccinate the Palestinians is that it would see Israel take responsibility for the population in Judea and Samaria, and possibly Gaza. This would best express the fact that despite agreements, declarations and moves such as the 2005 disengagement from Gaza, Israel remains sovereign for every matter on the ground. It may therefore be worthwhile to stop fooling ourselves as well and recognize the fact that west of the Jordan, there is only one responsible actor with the ability to manage and care for the population.

The coronavirus crisis may very well be a wake-up call as far as the reality in Judea and Samaria, which for some reason Israel chooses to ignore, is concerned. An exit from the crisis will provide Israel with a short respite it must use to advance a series of Israeli interests before the world refocuses its attention on our affairs and the political winds in the White House change direction.

The next Israeli government should keep that in mind.
PA: Israel responsible for providing vaccine to Palestinians
The Palestinian Authority said on Sunday that Israel was responsible for providing vaccines against the coronavirus to the Palestinians in the West Bank.

According to the PA, international laws and conventions require Israel to purchase and distribute vaccines to the Palestinian people who are living “under its military occupation.”

In addition, the authority said, it was Israel’s duty to give the vaccine to Palestinian security prisoners held in its prisons. The PA announcement, made by the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, came amid controversy surrounding Israel’s responsibility for vaccinating the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Palestinian officials have in the past two weeks made contradictory statements as to whether the PA had asked Israel for vaccines.

PA Health Ministry officials said in late December that they did not ask Israel to provide the Palestinians with the vaccine. The officials said they were seeking to obtain the vaccines from various companies, with the help of the World Health Organization.

Last week, however, a senior PA official told The Jerusalem Post that the Palestinians were examining the possibility of asking Israel for vaccines.

But a PLO official said last weekend that they have not asked Israel for the vaccine.
Palestinians to receive Russian COVID-19 vaccine within month
The Palestinian Authority will receive a first shipment of Russia’s Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine within a month, according to a statement by the Russian Direct Investment Fund.

The PA Ministry of Health approved the vaccine for use in the territories, the fund said in a press release.

“The vaccine was registered under the emergency use authorization procedure without additional clinical trials,” it said.

The fund did not indicate the total number of vaccines to be delivered, but it said full delivery was planned for the first quarter of 2021. The news comes against the backdrop of statements by PA Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh. The PA has signed contracts with four companies that produce vaccines against the coronavirus, he said last Tuesday.

In opening remarks at the weekly meeting of the PA cabinet in Ramallah, Shtayyeh said the vaccines would arrive within the next two months.
BBC WS radio continues to amplify political campaign on vaccines
The next hour of the programme also included material relating to the topic of Israel’s vaccination drive. From 33:53 listeners heard solicited recorded comment from two Israelis describing their experiences. Following that (from 36:42 here) they heard from a resident of the Gaza Strip who had previously appeared on the same programme in November.

“Hi this is Farah Baker 22 years old from Gaza. We here in Gaza absolutely have not delivered the vaccine yet and we have no expectations yet that we are going to deliver it. As Israel has become the first country in the world to administer Covid-19 vaccines to more than 10% of its population and it has made a decision not to vaccine [sic] Palestinians living in the occupied West Bank and Gaza. And for a while we in Gaza got run out of PCR tests because of the blockade. And the health system in Gaza is on the verge of collapse due to the lack of equipment. and with a very high unemployment rate in Gaza which is about 50% and most people who are dependent on daily salaries such as taxi drivers and people work in the market and their lives have stopped so they can’t cover up their daily [unintelligible]. The system now in Gaza is that the lockdown is start at 6:30 p.m. until 7 a.m. and people finish their work at 4 p.m. or 5 p.m. so they have no time to go to the market and buy things. So things are getting much more horrible than ever.”

McGovern made no effort to challenge the falsehood that Israel “has made a decision” not to vaccinate Palestinians or the lie that any shortage of PCR tests is “because of the blockade”. She did however make the following closing remarks:

McGovern: “Thanks so much for all the messages and we will repeat that the Palestinian Authority are in charge of…ehm…the healthcare system and that’s under the Oslo Accords which are separate to Israel’s system that, as you’ve been hearing, different opinions on who should do what.”

The BBC obviously fully understands that since the Oslo Accords were signed a quarter of a century ago, the Palestinian Authority has been responsible for the healthcare of Palestinians. It nevertheless continues to exploit reports ostensibly about the vaccination drive in Israel to amplify the false and politically motivated claim that Israel has an “obligation…as an occupier” to vaccinate people who belong to an entirely separate healthcare system.
After our complaint, Indy revises claim Israel 'rebuffed' Palestinian vaccine request
Here’s the headline of a Jan. 9th Independent article by their Middle East correspondent Bel Trew:

Whilst the article repeated the media misinformation that we’ve previously refuted about Israel’s alleged responsibility to provide millions of Palestinians with COVID vaccines, here’s the specific claim in the piece that inspired the headline:

Gerald Rockenschaub, the head of the WHO’s mission to the Palestinians, told The Independent the UN body had requested that Israel help provide Covid-19 jabs to cover Palestininan health workers; nearly 8,000 Palestinian medics have reportedly been infected by the virus, impacting their coronavirus response.

He said that Israel had declined the request for now, citing issues with shortages for their own population.

We were skeptical of the accusation, so decided to ask the Israeli body that would have received, and possessed the authority to approve, such a request – Israel’s Health Ministry.

Here’s their response:

In a follow-up phone call, a Health Ministry spokesperson confirmed to us that, as we suspected, any such official request by WHO (or any other international body) to Israel for Palestinian vaccines would necessarily have to go through their office.

Further, there’s no indication that Ms. Trew contacted the Health Ministry to comment on the claim by WHO’s Gerald Rockenschaub .
BBC Radio Ulster claims Israel vaccination figures ‘fake’
Crawley failed to clarify who exactly O’Connor meant by “Palestinians” but hopefully the intention was not the Palestinian residents of Jerusalem who are being vaccinated because they have healthcare insurance with one of Israel’s four providers.

As has been the case in previous BBC reporting on Corona vaccinations, the participants in this conversation appear to object to the fact that Israel is not providing injections to Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip or Judea & Samaria who do not pay the taxes used to purchase the vaccines that Israel has secured.

Once again no effort was made to clarify to listeners that under the terms of the 1995 Oslo Accords, the Palestinian Authority is responsible for providing healthcare – including vaccinations – in those areas. And yet again BBC audiences were not informed that the PA has not requested Israel’s help on the issue of procuring vaccines.

In short, listeners to BBC Radio Ulster were given an inaccurate account of Israel’s population and an inaccurate account of the proportion of Israelis vaccinated so far. They were also wrongly told that the proportion of people vaccinated is “a fake number” because it does not include “Palestinians” who are not Israeli citizens and whose healthcare is not Israel’s responsibility and encouraged to believe a spurious allegation of political motivations.

So much for the BBC’s supposed commitment to accurate and impartial journalism.

NYC Mayoral Candidate Andrew Yang Against Circumcision, Supports 2-State Solution
Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang, a long-time resident of New York City, is running for mayor, according to Channel 4 in New York which spotted his application to the city’s Campaign Finance Board. Yang wants to replace the term-limited Mayor Bill de Blasio. But the NY Post on Saturday made Yang’s task a whole lot more difficult, revealing that the candidate is opposed to circumcision.

In a city with a large number of Jews and Muslims, that could be a problem.

The Democratic primary in NYC is scheduled for June 22, and early polls are showing Yang with a lead in a field of mostly unknowns—he is followed by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer. It stands to reason that, as is common in the early stages of a political race, that Yang’s lead is due to name recognition and not based on his agenda.

The Post cited a March 19 interview with the Daily Beast (Andrew Yang, Upstart Democratic Presidential Candidate, Comes Out Against Circumcision), where he stated, “I’m highly aligned with the intactivists,” and suggested that “history will prove them even more correct.”

Intactivists are people who campaign against involuntary infant male circumcision.

“From what I’ve seen, the evidence on it being a positive health choice for the infant is quite shaky,” Yang told The Beast, and promised that should he become Mayor, he would “inform parents that it is entirely up to them whether their infant gets circumcised, and that there are costs and benefits either way.”

“The more choice we give parents, and the more we diminish the possible preconceptions or misinformation various parents are receiving, then the better off we’ll be as a society,” Yang said.

In a December 31, 2020 tweet, Yang clarified: “I have attended multiple friends’ brises (sic.) and felt privileged to do so. I believe in religious freedom. This is every parent’s personal decision and not a role of government.”

Capitol Hill Rioter Who Wore ‘Camp Auschwitz’ Shirt Identified as Virginia ‘Extremist’
The Capitol Hill insurgent whose “Camp Auschwitz” sweatshirt became one of the most viewed images of last Wednesday’s storming of the US legislature has been identified.

CNN reported that three separate sources had identified the man as Robert Keith Packer, a resident of Virginia.

A person familiar with Packer described the 56-year-old “as a long-time extremist who has had run-ins with the law,” according to CNN.

“He’s been always extreme and very vocal about his beliefs,” the person said.

Another source familiar with Packer described him as an “off-beat” character who had expressed frustrations with the government, though the person did not recall Packer ever talking about President Donald Trump or false allegations of voter fraud.

Virginia court records show that Packer has a criminal history that includes three convictions for driving under the influence and a felony conviction for forging public records. In 2016, he was charged for allegedly trespassing, though that case was dismissed.
Czech Jewish Community Condemns Use of Yellow Star of David at Prague Protest Against Coronavirus Measures
The Czech Jewish community strongly condemned the use of yellow stars on Friday by protesters during a march against the country’s coronavirus restrictions.

ROMEA, a local anti-racism NGO, reported that the protest, which took place in Prague, saw demonstrators wearing yellow stars in the same style as those that Holocaust victims were forced to wear under Nazi persecution.

The stars were marked with the words “unvaccinated” in the center.

In response, the Federation of Jewish Communities in the Czech Republic issued a strong condemnation.

“The Federation of Jewish Communities and the Foundation for Holocaust Victims are condemning the textbook abuse and relativizing of a Holocaust symbol that is associated with the suffering of millions of people,” the Federation said on Facebook.

“It is evident that it is necessary to constantly educate our society and to recommend that all who resort to such base displays visit the locations associated with the Nazi genocide both at home and abroad,” the organization added. “We thank all who publicly condemned these displays during the Sabbath today.”

Daniel Meron, Israel’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, tweeted Saturday that “The use of the Yellow Star of David in anti-vaccination protests is a disgrace and an insult to the memory of the victims of the Holocaust.”
Food courier in France allegedly refuses to serve Jews
Two kosher restaurants in the French city of Strasbourg have said they were declined service by at least one deliveryman who allegedly said he does not want to serve Jews.

Both incidents happened Thursday amid a partial lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has limited restaurants to offering only takeout meals delivered by couriers.

The deliveryman who allegedly refused the kosher eateries service was working for Deliveroo. It was not immediately clear whether both incidents involved the same employee, the news site DNA reported Sunday.

At the first restaurant, the employee arrived to take an order to a patron and asked the restaurant’s staff what sort of restaurant it was. They told him it served Israeli cuisine, to which he replied: “I don’t serve Jews” and said that he was canceling the order, according to Raphael Nisand, a lawyer representing that restaurant.

Later in the day, a second kosher restaurant was also declined service by a Deliveroo employee, DNA reported.

On Friday, the owners of both restaurants complained to police of discrimination and alerted the Consistoire, French Jewry’s organization responsible for religious services, and the National Bureau Against Anti-Semitism, or BNVCA.

Prosecutors in the eastern city of Strasbourg confirmed that “an investigation is underway to identify the suspects” after the restaurant owners filed complaints, according to a police source.

Leading Israeli Defense Technology Company Secures $166 Million Deal With UK Royal Navy
Leading Israeli defense technology company Elbit Systems’ subsidiary Elbit Systems UK has been awarded a contract valued at approximately $166 million from the UK Ministry of Defence for the Royal Navy Future Naval Training Program as part of the Fisher consortium led by Capita.

The contract, that runs over a 12-year period, will see Elbit aid in the transformation and modernization of the shore-based training of the Royal Navy including the establishment of the Future Submarine School. As the provider and integrator of training solutions for the Consortium, Elbit Systems UK will develop and deliver a new Combat Systems Operator Trainer in the Future Submarine School and modernize and manage legacy synthetic training systems across the Royal Navy. Elbit Systems UK will provide new training technologies that will improve Defence Operational Training Capability (Maritime) (DOTC(M)), while facilitating availability and efficiency of legacy capabilities.

This is the first time Elbit has signed a deal with the Royal Navy, but it has previously provided the Royal Air Force with training aircraft, and has also sold drones to the British Army. Employing over 500 people in 10 sites across the UK, Elbit Systems UK provided the British Army with the Watchkeeper UAV and has also recently been selected by the UK MOD to provide the MORPHEUS Battlefield Management Application for the British Army and networked simulators to train mounted and dismounted Joint Fires teams and Joint Fires Cells.

“The Program will be a pathfinder for the Royal Navy’s transformation agenda, with the introduction of enhanced training capabilities at the forefront of personnel achieving their potential and arriving at the front line quicker,” said Martin Fausset, CEO of Elbit Systems UK. “We are proud to be a part of the team to deliver next-generation training capabilities to the Royal Navy, following on the success of the Company’s provision of advanced training capabilities to the British Army and the Royal Air Force.”
Startup says it can make rifles smarter, deadlier — and safer
Michal Mor and Shir Ahuvia joke about how army officials are always slightly stunned when they meet them for the first time — two knowledgeable women coming to sell them an artificial intelligence-based shooting device that makes rifles smart, more accurate and deadlier.

“It once happened that after presenting our technology, a senior engineer asked me: How do you know all of this? Is your father a rocket maker?” Mor, the CEO of the startup Smart Shooter, said with a laugh.

“It is very hard to break stigmas,” she said in a Zoom interview with The Times of Israel, but she and Ahuvia, VP Product at the firm, are doing it slowly and relentlessly, she said. “People who get to know us don’t question our abilities anymore.”

Mor co-founded the firm, based in Kibbutz Yagur in Israel, in 2011 with Avshalom Ehrlich, its CTO.

Mor has an MSC in Industrial Psychology and Human Factors Engineering from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. She worked for Israel’s arms manufacturer Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. as a team leader for R&D groups in the missile division. After that, she led the product management team at printing industry company Press-sense.

Elrich, Mor’s co-founder in Smart Shooter, has a BSc in Computer Sciences and a master’s in Cognitive Psychology and Human Factors Engineering from the University of Haifa. He worked at Rafael as a human factor engineer and then at Press-sense and electric car maker Better Place before co-founding the smart-rifle startup.
Fleur Hassan-Nahoum: Fleur Hassan-Nahoum, deputy mayor of Jerusalem and co-founder, UAE-Israel Business Council
For the Middle East, 2020 has been a year of both upheaval and great opportunity. One highly contagious microscopic virus has turned the world upside down. It has brought world economies to their knees and has challenged health infrastructures globally.

Some optimists see this as a much needed reset, bringing back the desire for human contact that had seemed threatened by the era of digital connectivity. Others see this as a catapult to the digital age where borders are no longer relevant and the workplace is no longer about real estate. In a year where I would have travelled across the globe almost every month to speak to various audiences, I instead speak on Zoom to Australia in the morning and the US in the same afternoon.

In a year filled with game-changing events, August 13 will still be the date that remains top of mind for all of us in the United Arab Emirates and Israel. It’s the day when our lives changed for the better. It’s the day when our national leaders said that it was time to lay out a bold new vision for the Middle East – one that focuses on economic prosperity and providing a better future for our children. It was then that the silver lining in the dark clouds of 2020 finally appeared and most people celebrated this very timely and appropriate “match”.

I stress “match” because Israel and the UAE are a perfect match. The most advanced economies currently in the Middle East, which just a few decades ago were struggling to build a modern economy. Today, both thrive as beacons of free market ingenuity and good old-fashioned grit. Israel built itself as the ‘startup nation’ and the UAE as the infrastructural and financial gateway to the Gulf and everything to its east.
Morocco plans for 200,000 Israeli tourists
Morocco is gearing up for hundreds of thousands of Israeli visitors in the wake of the announcement Morocco-Israel peace accords. Clearly, Morocco views descendants of Moroccan Jews living in Israel as 'attached to their homeland'. It is interesting that the reverse tourist traffic of Moroccans to Israel is not really contemplated. Article via Dafina (with thanks: Leon)

Some 200,000 Israeli tourists are expected in Morocco from 2021 The official flight on December 22 opened the way for air services between Israel and Morocco.

In three months, direct daily flights will link Tel Aviv, Casablanca, Rabat and Marrakesh, Nadia Fettah Alaoui, Morocco's Minister of Tourism, told i24 television channel. Some 200,000 Israeli tourists are expected to visit the kingdom in the first instance, announced Nadia Fettah Alaoui, adding that, "this type of agreement (with Israel) will contribute to a better interaction between communities and populations". The very first who will land on Moroccan soil, says the Moroccan medium L'Economiste, are mostly tourists of Moroccan origin who are eager to set foot on their homeland, to which they remain so attached.

Jews of Moroccan origin make up a large community in the Hebrew state, at 800, 000 or even one million people, roughly one-tenth of the Israeli population, the same source observed. Sephardim present great potential: the Israeli diaspora (in France, Belgium, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia ...), economic operators, investors or trips organized by tour operators, pilgrimages.
Israel's national water company to sign deal with Bahrain: report
Deal expected to be first in a series with Manama, Abu Dhabi, worth millions of dollars

In the coming days, Israel's national water company Mekorot (Origins) will sign a preliminary agreement to supply Bahrain with water desalination technology, Hebrew-language outlet Globes reported.

The agreement will be signed with the Bahrain Electricity and Water Authority following discussions with Mekorot CEO Eli Cohen and its chairman Mordechai Mordechai.

Mekorot estimates the deal will be the first in a series with Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), worth millions of dollars a year.

Bahrain and the UAE are further interested in desalination, water quality control, waste and leak reduction, water management systems and integration of management services, according to Mekorot.

However, the most urgent need in the UAE and Bahrain is the desalination of salt water for agriculture and consumption.

Indeed, one of the main problems in Bahrain happens to be the quality of the water, especially in wells where the water is often not drinkable due to salt and pollution. As a result, almost all drinking water is imported and comes from mineral water bottles, which comes at a significant cost to the country.

UAE reunites two more Jewish Yemeni families split for decades
The United Arab Emirates helped reunited two Jewish Yemeni families with their relatives they had not seen for decades on Sunday, just a few months after it helped reunite another Jewish Yemeni family, according to the Emirati WAN news.

The first family of 15 members was reunited in Abu Dhabi after Emirati officials helped family members from Yemen and London travel to the city.

Yitzhak Fayez, 35, told WAM that he had not seen his grandparents and uncle since he was a child, when he moved to the UK from Yemen. He and 11 family members from London, including five great grandchildren, met with Fayez's grandparents and uncle from Yemen.

"They are today meeting their great grandchildren for the first time," said Fayez. "Today, the UAE made my family's dream come true after we had lost hope on getting reunited, after 21 years of separation."

"The saying goes: those that give water to the thirsty, will live in prosperity for the rest of their lives," added Fayez. "This is what the UAE has done for us. The people of peace, of bliss, of love."

Fayez's mother, Losa, said that the reunion had put an end to 21 years of suffering. "I'm living a dream, not quite sure if it's a dream or reality," said Losa.
