Olympic medalist Yarden Gerbi: Israelis are a special nation
Yarden Gerbi, the Israeli Judo athlete who won a bronze medal, Israel's first, at the Rio Olympics yesterday (Tuesday), reflected on her achievement and the difficulties she encountered on the way.
Speaking with Army Radio, the 27-year-old Gerbi sounded ecstatic yet emotionally and physically drained.
"After what I've been through today, nothing is heavy," she remarked when asked if the medal is weighing on her neck.
"There were two very difficult moments today. The time just before the first fight is really difficult, because you know that if you lose you go home. The second moment was the loss in the quarterfinals. Picking yourself off the mat after a loss is... just really hard."
When asked how she did it, Gerbi replied "I just had to get some closure from my coach. I felt that I deserved to win that fight. When [my coach] told me I really should have won, and just was unlucky with the officiating, I was able to move on. Once I know I did my part, that's all that matters. I don't waste my time worrying about what the officials do."
The interviewer then asked Gerbi if she felt any awareness of the fact that the entire country back home in Israel was holding its breath watching her.

Grandson of Holocaust Survivor Wins Silver Medal for France at Rio Olympics
A French Olympian who is the grandson of a Holocaust survivor won a silver medal with his team on Monday in the men’s freestyle relay finals at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
The swimmer, Fabien Gilot, — who, as Tablet reported, sports a Hebrew tattoo that says, “Without them, I am nothing” — explained that the phrase is a tribute to his Jewish grandfather, the late Max Goldschmidt, an Auschwitz survivor who greatly influenced his life.
Goldschmidt grew up in Berlin and after World War II moved to France, where he met his wife and raised a family, according to Tablet. Gilot’s father, Michel, said Goldschmidt, who died in 2012, was an inspiration to the athlete and witnessed many of his achievements.

Here are the Anti-Israel Tweets from Hijab-Wearing Olympian
She has been the media darling of the Olympics: Ibtihaj Muhammed, the first Muslim-American athlete to don a hijab during the games. The mainstream media have spoken of her at every chance and even wished for her to be the one carrying the American flag during the opening ceremonies instead of gold medal collector Michael Phelps.
When she was interviewed, Muhammed said she was concerned about Donald Trump’s rhetoric about Muslims, calling his words “dangerous.” But she is hoping her media presence can help turn the tide:
"I’m hopeful that, in my efforts to represent our country well as an athlete — that they change the rhetoric around how people think and perceive the Muslim community.”
But it’s Muhammed’s own rhetoric that will hinder any chance of a shift in public opinion about Muslims. On Twitter, Muhammed has exposed herself as a typical anti-Semite, anti-Israel Muslim. Pamela Geller posted a collection of screenshots of those tweets:

“Palestine” at the Olympics -- again
That warm/fuzzy feeling when the American and Israeli flags came marching past, during the parade of nations, dissolved awfully fast when seemingly out of nowhere, here came something called “Palestine.” Yes, “Palestine” came with a contingent at the Rio Olympics, except that there is no Palestine.
Yet somehow the “Palestinians” seem to show up wherever there’s a party. They dance at every wedding.
They can’t let anything go without their “cause.”
Around this point it’s tempting to try something humorous, like what events they might be good at – synchronized terror tunneling?
But there is no place for humor when we consider the Munich Olympics of 1972 and what the “Palestinians” did to us back then. I was ready to write more about this, but it is too brutal. If you are too young to know what happened, or if you still think that a “two-state solution” is a marvelous idea, I suggest you Google it up to get the awful truth.
Yet here they come again. You’d think they’d be ashamed to show their faces, but they have no shame.
PreOccupiedTerritory: Amnesty Launches App Detailing How Each Killing In Rio Israel’s Fault (satire)
One of the world’s leading human rights organizations has launched an interactive database app that shows how Israel is to blame for each of the civilian deaths taking place in and around the South American city hosting the Summer Olympics, the group announced today.
Amnesty International, which previously released an interactive app detailing what it calls Israeli war crimes during 2014’s Operation Protective Edge, produced the program partially in response to accusations that it focuses disproportionately on Israeli treatment of Palestinians, to the detriment of other suffering populations. To counter that perception, said an organizational spokeswoman, Amnesty introduced the 2016 Rio Platform, which does not mention the Palestinians even once. Instead, she explained, it takes the more than 2,000 deaths of Brazilians that have occurred surrounding the Olympics, identifies the victims by name, and details how each of those deaths resulted from Israeli crimes.
“Our Rio Platform should put paid to the notion that we have some sort of obsessive focus on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” contended the spokeswoman, Dr. Thinnli Veild. “All the victims of this violence in Brazil are locals, and our demonstration of Israeli culpability in their deaths has no connection to that.”
As an example, Dr, Veild cited the case of João Díaz, 19, who was killed when a bullet struck him as he protested dismal living conditions in the slums near the Olympic Village. Eyewitnesses said Brazilian paramilitary police had fired the fatal shot, but were unable to pinpoint the exact source of the gunfire. Using many of the same deductive principles that governed Amnesty’s Gaza platform, the research team concluded that in the absence of definitive evidence to the contrary, it was to be assumed that any premature death results from Israeli negligence or malice.
The Anti-Israel Left and the Dems
In the last week, two influential groups issued platforms that demonstrated just how far the left has gone in attacking Israel. Both the Black Lives Matter movement and the Green Party are now on record as opposing the legitimacy of the Jewish state and supporting not merely the end of aid to Israel but an active policy of opposition to its existence. This is a matter of no little concern to liberals who have become invested in BLM and who may worry about the defection of some Bernie Sanders supporters to the Greens in November. But does it really matter if organizations that are seemingly outside of the political mainstream take deplorable stands?
Unfortunately, it does. Far from lacking in influence, the Sanders campaign demonstrated that the left is on the rise in the Democratic Party. Even if Hillary Clinton supporters beat back the far left’s attempt to tilt their platform against Israel, there is good reason to worry that we’re witnessing a sea change that will ultimately drag the Democrats down the same anti-Israel path. At stake here is not just the fulminations of extremism but also the growing normalization of anti-Semitic attitudes.
The publication of a Black Lives Matter platform that went out of its way to target Israel took many Jewish liberals by surprise. BLM was praised and petted throughout the Democratic convention in Philadelphia last month. Though the shootings of police ought to have marginalized a group that seemed as interested in delegitimizing law enforcement as saving black lives, the opposite has happened–at least as far as the Democrats are concerned. The BLM mantra has been adopted as part of the informal catechism of liberals, to the point where saying that “all lives matter” in response is now regarded as evidence of racism on college campuses and other footholds of the left. Thus, the decision of the group to formally adopt an anti-Israel stand is significant.
But it shouldn’t have surprised pro-Israel liberals that a faction many of them see as a natural ally would embrace the “apartheid state” libel or single out Israel for condemnation. Such opinions have long been commonplace on the left and indeed, found a voice even within the Sanders campaign. The false narrative about the Middle East, in which Palestinians are depicted as the moral equivalent of the victims of America’s Jim Crow era rather than a people who have repeatedly rejected peace and are dedicated to the eradication of Israel, is regarded by the left as accepted truth.
Douglas Murray: The gay community is in denial about Islamism
It is almost two months since Omar Mateen walked around the Pulse nightclub in Florida, gunning people down while shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’. During the assault Mateen spoke to American law enforcement and swore allegiance to Isis. Frustratingly Omar Mateen failed to called the group ‘so-called Islamic State’, thus betraying a woeful lack of linguistic sensitivity among his other crimes.
A few days later, very much in the shadow of these events, there was a ‘gay pride’ parade in New York. The huge banner leading the parade at the front read ‘Republican hate kills’. That is because after a moment’s stunned surprise the American gay rights movement did what all other Western gay rights movements have done, and decided to assiduously duck the issue of Islamic homophobia. Having spent so many years believing that there was nothing more hateful than a Republican, when someone shouting praise to Allah and swearing allegiance to Islamic State killed 49 gay people America’s gay movement didn’t even bother to commission a new rainbow banner.
As I wrote at the time, although the Western gay press has understandable historical qualms about Christianity it also has a history of dismissing any and all concerns about Islam. So in the wake of Orlando the gay press was filled not with pieces warning gay people about Islamic gay-hate, but pieces going out of their way to warn people against linking the massacre to Islam or Muslims. In particular there was a flurry of articles warning gay people not to become ‘haters’. Which is only the gay version of a wider Western sickness. You got attacked? Be careful you don’t become a bigot now.
At the weekend I picked up a copy of the UK gay magazine Attitude – a sort of post-Orlando memorial edition – which showed nothing had changed. The aim of the edition was not just to avoid treading on any sore Islamic toes, but to deliberately avoid the subject of Islam. Well these people, as Martin Amis once said in a related context, are disappearing up the fundament of the people who want to kill them. They should enjoy it while it lasts. The fact that a majority of British Muslims want being gay in Britain to be made illegal strikes me as a salient and troubling fact even if I can’t seem to get anyone else interested in the point.
Exposing the myth of an Apartheid Israel
On a trip to the U.S, the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Meshoe, a member of the South African Parliament, president of the African Christian Democratic Party and chairman of the South African Israel Allies Caucus, expressed his profound concern about the ad campaign on San Francisco’s Muni transportation system, urging for an end to U.S. support for Israel. A group of Christian, Jewish and Muslims has funded the ad campaign since 2010.
Having lived as a black South African under apartheid and having visited Israel numerous times, he said there is no basis for those accusing Israel of being an apartheid state. Apartheid is a legal system of segregation based on color, with a white majority in control of the government. Under apartheid, people of color could not vote, hold office or travel freely in their own country.
Only segregated schools and sports arenas were available to them and they had to use segregated public restrooms and public transportation. Whites and blacks were prohibited to marry or have sexual relations. Different residential areas were built to ensure a forced physical separation between the races. Their hospitals, medical care and education were always inferior to those of the whites. Any white physicians willing to treat a black patient had to conduct the examination in private.
Richard J. Goldstone, a former justice of the South African Constitutional Court, who led the United Nations fact-finding mission on the Gaza conflict of 2008-2009, added that attacking Israel “is an unfair and inaccurate slander … calculated to retard rather than advance peace negotiations…. In Israel, there is no apartheid. Nothing there comes close to the definition of apartheid under the 1998 Rome Statute.”
He remembered “all too well the cruelty of South Africa’s abhorrent apartheid system …where blacks critically injured in car accidents were left to bleed to death if there was no black’ ambulance to rush them to a black hospital. ‘White’ hospitals were prohibited from saving their lives.”
Goldstone concludes “The charge that Israel is an apartheid state is a false and malicious one that precludes, rather than promotes, peace and harmony.
Israeli Ambassador: Canadian Green Party's Pro-Boycott Policy "Totally Unhelpful" to Peace
The government of Israel issued a restrained response Monday to the Green Party’s weekend decision to embrace a global campaign to ostracize Israel over its treatment of Palestinians.
The boycott, divestment and sanctions movement (BDS) seeks to shun Israel by lobbying corporations, artists and academic institutions to sever ties with the Jewish state.
Supporters say the boycott is aimed at furthering Palestinian independence and human rights. Critics say the campaign is aimed at de-legitimizing Israel itself.
A majority of Green Party members voted to adopt BDS in the party platform at their national convention in Ottawa Sunday, despite objections from Green Leader Elizabeth May. She left open the possibility the BDS stance could be debated again at the party’s 2018 convention.
In a statement, Refael Barak, Israel’s ambassador to Canada, said he “deeply regret(s)” the decision, but stopped well short of the harsh and angry denunciations by Canadian Jewish groups.
Supporting BDS, “prejudicially singles out Israel, and is totally unhelpful to those who support the pursuit of a lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians,” said Barak.
Black Lives Matter author defends platform accusing Israel of 'genocide'
The co-author of the Black Lives Matter platform passage accusing Israel of “genocide” defended the term, saying Israel’s actions fit in its wider definition.
Ben Ndugga-Kabuye co-authored the statement along with Rachel Gilmer, the former board member of a Zionist youth group. Ndugga-Kabuye told JTA he understood why Jewish groups disagree with the statement, but was perplexed that it has received so much attention.
He compared it with the accusations of genocide that black activists have leveled at the United States and called the Israeli-Palestinian conflict one of many international conflicts US black activists feel connected to.
“The way we look at it is, we take strong stances,” Ndugga-Kabuye, a New York City organizer for the Black Alliance for Just Immigration, told JTA. “The demand we’re making is we’re against the US continuing funding and military aid to the government of Israel. These are all things that are going to be in debate.”
The platform, released Aug. 2 by The Movement for Black Lives coalition, is largely a statement of the goals of a movement that coalesced around police violence directed against black people in the United States, mass incarceration of African-Americans and other domestic issues.
But it also calls for ending US military aid to Israel and accuses Israel of being an apartheid state. The platform includes a link to a website promoting the movement to boycott, divest and sanction Israel called BDS.
Labour at a Crossroads: Cancel party conference, or reverse boycott of G4S?
The UK's Labour party may have to cancel an already planned party conference, unless it decides to override its call for a boycott of international security firm G4S, the Telegraph reported Wednesday.
Leaked emails to Iain McNicol, the party's general secretary, revealed that the Labour chose to end its relationship with G4S due to the security company's links to Israeli prisons.
With lack of accessibility to G4S, Labour was forced to source its own security. Yet that proved to be a challenge - and the party now finds its self at a crossroads where it must choose to either cancel the long-anticipated event or reverse the boycott of the security company.
Labour MP John Woodcock referred to the boycott of G4S as an "example of the ideologically purist leader's team creating havoc for ordinary party members with their selectively and susceptly applied principles."
More explosions surround the Chakrabarti Labour anti-Semitism report
New problems continue to arise concerning the pervasive anti-Semitism in the British Labour party and its leaders’ lack of sensitivity to it. Part of the newly emerging information is related to the highly unprofessional and manipulative whitewash report on anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and racism in the party by Shami Chakrabarti. It is important to continue to keep track of these Labour party problems because some of its elements shed new light on the background of extreme anti-Israelism among various social-democrat parties in Europe.
Chakrabarti’s report was presented on June 30th. The presentation created two new scandals. Labour party leader, Jeremy Corbyn, indirectly compared Israel to ISIS by saying in his prepared remarks “Our Jewish friends are no more responsible for the actions of Israel or the Netanyahu government than our Muslim friends are for those of various self-styled Islamic states or organizations.” Former UK Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks called Corbyn’s comparison of Jews and Israel’s current government to the Islamic State a “demonization of the highest order.” Chakrabarti thereupon defended Corbyn on LBC radio.
At the report’s presentation, Jewish Labour MP Ruth Smeeth was verbally attacked. Mark Wadsworth, a campaigner of Labour’s left wing Momentum group accused her of being part of a media conspiracy. Smeeth left the meeting in tears. She remarked: “It is beyond belief that someone could come to the launch of a report on anti-Semitism in the Labour Party and espouse such vile conspiracy theories about Jewish people which were ironically highlighted as such in Ms Chakrabarti's report, while the leader of my own party stood by and did absolutely nothing.” Smeeth called for Corbyn to resign after the incident and added that “a Labour Party under his stewardship cannot be a safe space for British Jews.”
During the appearance before the Home Affairs committee of the House of Commons, Chakrabarti acted as prompter for Corbyn by passing him notes. The committee’s chairman Labour MP Keith Vaz said it was not 'in order' for Chakrabarti and another person to pass notes to Corbyn. Since then it has become known that when outgoing Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron presented his honors list, the only person Corbyn nominated for the House of Lords was Chakrabarti.
Adelson’s Maccabee Task Force Expanding Efforts to Combat Campus Antisemitism
When news surfaced in the Spring of 2015 that philanthropist and casino magnate Sheldon Adelson was launching a new program to combat antisemitism on college campuses, it caught the attention of Israel’s supporters and detractors alike. When he brought in David Brog to head the project, the world realized Adelson meant business. Brog was the founding Executive Director of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), and the project is called Maccabee Task Force.
One year later, with few public statements made or press releases sent out, I was eager to learn what MTF was doing.
Last month, I met with Brog in our nation’s capital to find out.
“We were purposely stealth this past year,” Brog explained. “We focused on six campuses in California where BDS activity and campus antisemitism were running rampant. The goal was to figure out how we can make a difference – one that actually moves the dial on the ground rather than just make headlines.
Major Jewish Groups Rebuke ‘Irresponsible’ University of Tennessee for Failure to Condemn Antisemitism on Campus
Major Jewish campus groups rebuked the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) on Tuesday for failing to outright condemn antisemitism on campus, telling The Algemeiner that the school’s approach to the issue was reckless.
Tammi Rossman-Benjamin, co-founder of the AMCHA Initiative — which combats, monitors and documents antisemitism at institutions of higher education in America — and Aron Hier, director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s (SWC) campus outreach arm, were reacting to a statement released by UTK on Monday in response to an exclusive report by The Algemeiner last week highlighting antisemitism and racism at the school.
UTK must “vociferously condemn and repudiate any and all antisemitic statements and activities by past and present members of the campus community,” SWC’s Hier told The Algemeiner, while Rossman-Benjamin described the administration’s response as “irresponsible.”
“What UTK should have said was this type of speech is heinous and despicable and call it out as antisemitism, plain and simple,” she said.
Report: Ibiza municipality endorses BDS against Israel
Ibiza, the renowned Spanish Island in the Mediterranean – which attracts many Israelis due to its lively nightlife scene and beautiful beaches, may soon not be so welcoming towards Israel and Israelis.
According to ACOM, an Israel lobby group working to combat BDS in Spain, last month the Santa Eulalia City Council, an exclusive residential area and the second most populated municipality on the island, endorsed the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel in its plenary session.
ACOM explained that the endorsement commits the city to “support the BDS campaign, the boycott against Israeli and pro-Israel institutions, companies and organizations, including Spanish nationals associated or sympathetic to the Jewish state.”
The council agreement essentially declares the area of Santa Eulalia, a popular international tourist attraction, a “Space Free of Israeli Apartheid” and calls on the municipal government to execute the boycott agreement, ACOM said.
Contrary to claim, Google didn’t wipe Palestine off Maps
The reality is that even though 136 UN countries recognize Palestine as an independent state, Google has followed the policy of the US and 49 other countries and has never listed a country named Palestine.
“There has never been a ‘Palestine’ label on Google Maps,” a Google spokesperson told the tech news site Engadget on Wednesday. “However, we discovered a bug that removed the labels for ‘West Bank’ and ‘Gaza Strip.’ We’re working quickly to bring these labels back to the area.”
Today, Google Maps does show Gaza as a label. However, if one searches for “Palestine,” “Gaza Strip” or “West Bank,” the map shows an unlabeled area contained within a dotted line.
The website Disputed Territories in 2014 showed that despite Google’s best efforts, it is extremely difficult to remain impartial.
Germany's Nazi hunter tracks down 8 concentration camp workers
Germany's top Nazi hunter has identified four men and four women suspected of serving as guards, secretaries and telephone operators at a concentration camp near Gdansk, and prosecutors will examine if they can be charged as accomplices to murder.
Jens Rommel, the head of Germany's Central Office for the Investigation of Nazi Crimes in Ludwigsburg, told news agency DPA the eight cases of elderly suspects alive and in Germany was forwarded to prosecutors across the country.
The eight suspects had worked at the Nazis' Stutthoff concentration camp near what is now Gdansk in Poland. The office in Ludwigsburg does not prosecute cases itself but instead has been collecting information for state prosecutors for decades.
Ageing suspects, most of whom deny guilt, are growing frail more than 70 years after the end of World War Two, making the race to prosecute them all the more pressing.
Vandals scrawl ‘Jew’ on rats in DC art display
Vandals have repeatedly scrawled the word “Jew” on images of rats appearing on an outdoor Chinese Zodiac art display in Washington, DC’s Chinatown.
Maintenance crews employed by DowntownDC, a private non-profit that encourages business in the city center, on Monday cleaned the graffiti from the Zodiac artwork, the DCist news website reported.
Michael Villafranca, a passerby, notified police when he saw the defaced Zodiac animals, which are stenciled among the crosswalk lines at 8th and H Street in Washington’s northwest quadrant. He posted a photo on Twitter.
It was the third time in a week that the installation has been defaced with the word.
“I am so disturbed and sickened to see this walking into work, and in DC of all places,” Villafranca said in an Aug. 3 tweet. Another passerby had posted a photo of the vandalism.
Other animals in the Zodiac display were left alone.
With Antisemitism Rising in Germany, Jewish Groups Encourage Victims to Speak Up
In the summer of 2015, on the streets of Berlin, a gang of drunks approached an Israeli and German woman, who were speaking Hebrew, and taunted them with: “How dare you live in Germany!” They then proceeded to throw bottles at them.
Earlier this year, a Berlin family went on vacation and put their home in the care of a neighbor, only to find a swastika scrawled inside their kitchen when they returned. And last October, at a private kindergarten in Berlin, a five-year-old boy said to the class: “Hitler should have killed all the Jews.” The teacher, according to witnesses, agreed.
These are just a few of the incidents tracked by the Department for Research and Information on Anti-Semitism (RIAS), a watchdog group monitoring antisemitism in Berlin founded in Jan. 2015 under the umbrella of the Association for Democratic Culture in Berlin with funding from the Berlin Municipality. RIAS seeks to expose, monitor and prevent attacks against Jews, and has plans to expand nationwide.
Belgian school ‘proud’ of teacher honored at Iran Holocaust cartoon show
Faculty at a Catholic high school in Belgium said they were proud of a senior teacher who won an award and a cash prize at Iran’s controversial cartoon contest about the Holocaust.
Luc Descheemaeker, who this summer retired from the Sint-Jozefs Institute high school in the city of Torhout, 60 miles west of Antwerp, accepted a “special prize” at the Second International Holocaust Cartoon Contest in Tehran in May for a drawing of the words “Arbeit macht frei” over a wall with guard posts — presumably comparing Israel’s security barrier along the West Bank with the gates at Auschwitz.
The German sentence, which means “work sets you free,” was featured on a gate of the Nazi death camp in Poland. Descheemaeker, who spoke at the competition via a video uplink from Belgium, won $1,000 for the cartoon, organizers said. The first-prize winning entry was a drawing of a cash register shaped like Auschwitz.
UNESCO, the United Nations educational organization, has condemned the cartoon contest — the second organized in Iran since 2006 — as aiming “at a mockery of the genocide of the Jewish people, a tragic page of humanity’s history.”
In May, a staffer at the Belgian-Jewish publication Ragards sent to the school an email with a URL link to a webpage announcing the winners of the contest, accompanied with the text: “It must be a great pride for Sint-Jozefs Institute-College to be associated to the values Luc Descheemaeker stands for.”
Belgian official apologizes for calling Israel ‘identical twin’ of IS
A Belgian Muslim official in charge of promoting tolerance apologized for his vitriol against Israel, which he said was a modern Nazi Germany and “an identical twin” of the Islamic State terrorist group.
Youssef Kobo, the adviser on diversity for the minister in charge of equal opportunity in the regional government of Brussels, said he was “young and stupid” when he wrote the Facebook posts in 2014, which he said he “regrets,” the La Capitale daily reported Tuesday. The newspaper had contacted Kobo, 28, following criticism by the Belgian League Against Anti-Semitism.
He had referenced the Islamic State in posting a caricature of Israel cutting the throat of the Gaza Strip, where Israel in the summer of 2014 carried out strikes against the Hamas terrorist group. Kobo said of a video of Israeli troops that they were: “21st century Nazis.”
Kobo told La Capitale that he was “very emotional” following the strikes in Gaza, which followed rocket fire by Hamas on Israeli population centers.
He works for a minister in the government of one of the three autonomous regions that make up the federal kingdom of Belgium.
Laser-based ‘radar’ might see a cure for smart car hacks
The auto industry is barreling headfirst toward a driverless future – and a cybersecurity nightmare, as Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek showed off for the second year in a row how easy it is to hack into a smart car.
If in last year’s exploit the pair of hackers showed off some elementary moves like remotely turning on the radio full-blast and running the air conditioner, this year they upped the stakes, disabling the parking brakes, applying the brakes while the car was driving at full speed, and disabling the steering wheel.
There’s no going back, according to Omer Keilaf, co-founder and CEO of Innoviz, a Kfar Saba startup that is developing solutions to prevent the brand of hacking that Miller and Valasek have demonstrated is possible.
“The car industry is gearing up towards a revolution by the introduction of autonomous vehicles. The ability to transform this vision into a reality depends on performance and cost. Current approaches compromise passenger safety by failing to include LiDAR sensors as part of the system, due to cost and performance limitations. Our groundbreaking technology will make our system accessible to mass market, positioning Innoviz as a leading force in the manifestation and acceleration of this revolution,” said Keilaf.
Hawaiian coffee shop singer to perform with Matisyahu
After some legal maneuvering, the Hawaiian busker who became a viral hit after he was filmed performing the Matisyahu song “One Day” unaware that the ex-Orthodox reggae star was watching, will perform with Matisyahu during an upcoming concert in California.
In a video posted last week to his Facebook page, Matisyahu invited Kekoa Alama to perform with him on Friday, August 12 at the Hollywood Palladium in California. Alama, however, turned down the invitation, saying that he had violated his probation and was “on the run” from police, preventing him from leaving Hawaii.
In response, Matisyahu said he would help Alama, a ukulele player and singer, to perform in the show since Alama is “trying to create love and light for the world.”
WATCH: IDF Medical Units Treat Wounded Syrians
Eight seriously injured Syrians, including children aged seven and 11, were treated by IDF medical teams at the Israeli-Syrian border last week before being evacuated to hospitals for further treatment, Ynet reported Sunday.
The wounded were brought to the border fence following an artillery attack on the hospital in Quneitra, reportedly carried out by forces of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad.
The wounded suffered from injuries to all parts of their bodies as well as burns. Dozens of IDF medical personnel worked under the cover of darkness to stabilize them.
“We were forced to call in medical teams from the armored corps who happened to be doing drills that day in the Golan to supplement the medical forces of the brigade which is normally responsible for the area, alongside various reserve forces,” explained medic Micky Almakis.
