Bill Maher: After attacks maybe Europe will lay off Israel
Liberal comedian and commentator Bill Maher, who has become famous for his profanity-laced riffs on conservatives and organized religion, took aim at European treatment of the Jewish state on Friday.
During a panel discussion on his late-night HBO show Real Time, Maher blasted the UN and scolded Europe for its behavior towards Israel.
"Europe has been real a******s about Israel," Maher said.
"I mean, in general. The U.N. – as of 2015, the United Nations Human Rights Council had issued more official condemnations of Israel than the rest of the world's nations combined. I wonder now that Europe has been attacked four times now in a little over a year, and they say ISIS has 400 fighters that they are ready to introduce back into Europe, and they're trying to get a dirty bomb - maybe Europe will have a little more sympathy for what Israel goes through."
Maher has consistently bucked prevalent trends among fellow liberals, and is a strong critic of Islamic radicalism and a staunch supporter of Israel.

PreOccupiedTerritory: After Brussels Attacks, Europe Promises Stronger Cowardice (satire)
The deadly terrorist attacks in the Belgian capital Tuesday have sparked a fierce desire across the Continent to depart from the complacency and accommodation of the past in the face of growing Islamist violence, and instead engage in a new form of more severe, harsher cowardice.
After dozens of people were killed in bombings at an airport and subway station in Brussels Tuesday morning, political leaders in the European Union voiced frustration with the multicultural model that has for so long defined Europe’s attempt to foster tolerance, and called for a sharper practice of avoiding potential offense to Muslim immigrants by implying that Islam has anything to do with the deadly Islamist violence that has plagued France, Germany, Sweden, Britain, Belgium, Denmark, Turkey, and other European countries.
“We’re going to have to step up our game,” admitted EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini at a press conference in Amman, Jordan. “When terrorist opposition to European values of tolerance, liberalism, and democracy rears its head in ever-increasing fury, we have no choice but to find the strongest possible way of shrinking from confronting it.”

VIDEO: Another Palestinian disruption of Brussels Memorial
This is getting to be a really, really sick habit.
The other day we posted videos of anti-Israel protesters disrupting a makeshift memorial to those killed in the Brussels terror attack, by ripping up, standing on and covering up a small Israeli flag, Of course: Israel haters disrupt Brussels Memorial site:
Then a man walked onto the area where the memorials were placed, including apparently an Israeli flag and notes from Israelis, and started screaming “Palestine” “Palestine” as the crowd booed and he was led away:
Despite the disruption, there were many Israeli flags and messages still there.
The disruption of the Brussels memorials by anti-Israel protesters reflects a sickness that runs deep.
Perhaps Europe will finally see it too.
Man stood in middle of Brussels memorial today & started yelling Palestine!

Terror suspect shot and held by Brussels police 'had been jailed for seven years for helping Taliban assassinate Afghan leader two days before 9/11'
A terror suspect who was arrested by police in Brussels after a dramatic stand-off at a tram stop is believed to have previously been jailed for helping to assassinate an Afghan leader just days before 9/11.
Belgian prosecutors said that Abderaman A. was shot in the leg at the tram stop in Schaerbeek because he was carrying a rucksack police believed contained a bomb.
It came as the investigation continued into Tuesday terror attacks in Belgium at Brussels Airport and a metro station in the city, which left 31 people dead.
Today prosecutors announced that he was being held for another 24 hours as investigations continued.
However, it has also been revealed in Belgian media that the suspect, they have named as Abderaman Ameroud, was jailed for seven years in France in 2005 for providing logistical support for the killing of Afghan resistance leader Ahmed Shah Masood.
Top Jihadist Claims Brussels, Paris Are Terror Rehearsals for ‘Big’ Attack Inside U.S.
The deadly terrorist attacks in Brussels last week and in Paris last November are dress rehearsals for a coming “big” attack inside the United States, a leading Islamic State-allied militant claimed in an exclusive interview.
Abu al-Ayna al-Ansari, a Salafist movement senior official in the Gaza Strip, made the claim in a pre-recorded, hour-long interview to air in full on Sunday on “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio,” the popular weekend talk radio program broadcast on New York’s AM 970 The Answer and NewsTalk 990 AM in Philadelphia. Klein doubles as Breitbart’ssenior investigative reporter and Jerusalem bureau chief.
Ansari is a well-known Gazan Salafist jihadist allied with Islamic State ideology. During the interview with Klein, Ansari seemed to be speaking as an actual IS member, repeatedly using the pronoun “we” when referring to IS and even seemingly making declarations on behalf of IS.
PMW: Israel did Brussels terror attacks to punish Europe, suggests PA security spokesman
Following the announcement that the Islamic State terror organization orchestrated the terror attacks in Brussels on Tuesday, in which at least 31 people were murdered and hundreds were injured, PA Security Forces Spokesman Adnan Al-Damiri suggested that Israel is behind the attacks. In a post on Facebook, Al-Damiri questioned whether the attacks by ISIS could be just "a coincidence" now that European support for "Palestine" and the boycott of Israeli settlement products is at a high:
"Question: How come Europe has turned into the scene of terror attacks and murder of innocent civilians after the majority of European parliaments have recognized the State of Palestine, and after the expansion of the European boycott of products made in Israeli settlements? Is it possible that the timing of the targeting [of Europe] by ISIS and its offshoots is innocent and a coincidence? And why specifically Europe now that the European popular and official support for Palestine is growing??? Help me understand and answer. Thank you!" [Facebook page of PA Security Forces spokesman Adnan Al-Damiri, March 24, 2016]
Palestinian Media Watch has documented that the Palestinian Authority often libels Israel and the US as having created ISIS, presenting them as the masterminds managing it and its attacks.
A BBC quotee opines on Brussels terror attacks
On February 1st the BBC News website published an article which described a temporary roadblock set up following a terror attack by a member of the Palestinian Authority security forces (which it had not reported at the time) as “collective punishment”.
That allegation included a quote from “Palestinian police spokesman Adnan Damiri”.
Courtesy of Palestinian Media Watch we learn that the same Adnan Damiri had comments to make on the topic of the terror attacks in Brussels on March 22nd.
“Following the terror attacks in Brussels yesterday, in which at least 30 people were murdered and hundreds were injured, PA Security Forces Spokesman Adnan Al-Damiri wrote in a post on his Facebook page that the US and Europe are the ones who created international terror. He claimed, for example, that Europe and the US are responsible for “exporting Jewish terror to Palestine,” and therefore Europe is directly responsible for the terror that strikes it:
Let’s hope that BBC journalists remember those remarks the next time they are tempted to promote and amplify a quote from Damiri on the subject of terrorism.
Right-wing protestors converge on Brussels memorial site, give Nazi salutes
Right-wing protesters attending a memorial ceremony in honor of the victims of the Brussels terror attacks were seen giving the Nazi salute and chanting nationalists slogans, CNN reported Sunday.
Riot police converged on the memorial site to confront the protestors who were reportedly yelling anti-immigrant slogans and racist slurs.
Last Tuesday, a suicide bomber blew himself up at Brussels airport killing at least 14 people and a further blast tore through a rush-hour metro train in the capital shortly afterwards, claiming 20 lives.
Turkish Police warn of possible attacks against synagogues, churches
Police in Turkey have warned of possible attacks by the Islamic State against Christian and Jewish targets over the Easter weekend.
The possible targeting of churches and synagogues on Sunday was listed in a nationwide police alert, according to Turkish media reports. Consulates and embassies also were told to stay on high alert.
The warning comes a week after a suicide bombing at a main shopping center in Istanbul killed three Israelis and one Iranian national. Turkish media later reported that the bomber targeted an Israeli tour group, with Islamic State taking responsibility for the attack.
Another 10 Israelis were wounded, three of them in moderate to critical condition, and the rest suffering from slight injuries.
The Islamic State has been blamed for four of six bombing attack in Turkey in the past eight months, the English-language Turkish news service Hurriyet Daily News reported.
PM: Any challenge to IDF's morality is outrageous
The firestorm sparked Thursday over the shooting of a subdued terrorist in Hebron continued to rage over the weekend, with ministers and MKs from across the political spectrum weighing in on the issue.
At the start of Sunday's cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, "Any challenge to the morality of the IDF is outrageous and unacceptable. The IDF soldiers, our children, maintain high ethical values while courageously fighting bloodthirsty murderers under difficult conditions. I am certain that in all cases, as in the current one, the inquiry takes into account all conditions. We must all support the IDF chief of staff, the IDF and our soldiers, who safeguard our security."
Earlier on Facebook, Netanyahu wrote, "The attacks on the IDF over the weekend, accusing it of being immoral, are outrageous and contradictory to the truth. The IDF is an ethical military and it doesn't execute anyone. IDF soldiers prevent murderous terrorist attacks against the Israeli public with their bodies, and they are worthy of all backing. I trust the IDF will conduct a thorough, responsible and fair investigation, as it always does."
Likud MK Yoav Kisch said that while the soldier in question "is no hero, he is certainly not a murderer. This was a combatant on operational activity, who acted in the best interest of the state and national security. At worst, this was an error in judgment and he will face the consequences."
After backlash, IDF defends charging soldier with murder
The IDF on Sunday defended its murder investigation into the Thursday shooting death of a Palestinian stabber, after relatives, politicians and other rushed to support a soldier accused in the killing.
Army prosecutors charged the IDF soldier, who is not being named, with murder at the Jaffa Military Court on Friday after an initial investigation concluded that he shot the disarmed and wounded Palestinian assailant after the latter no longer constituted a threat.
The indictment, as well as videos that emerged of the soldier shooting the attacker in the head, sparked controversy over the weekend, with the army, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon saying the soldier’s actions violated the army’s ethical code, while far-right politicians and the soldier’s family claimed he was being “lynched” in the media.
82% of Israelis back soldier who killed wounded terrorist
An analysis of the public discourse online regarding the IDF soldier who last Thursday was filmed shooting a wounded terrorist in Hevron has found an overwhelming majority of Israelis back the soldier.
A full 82% of the sentiments posted online from last Thursday up until Sunday morning at 11 a.m. were in support of the soldier, according to the company Buzzilla that specializes in analyzing social networks. The results were published by Channel 2 on Sunday.
The soldier is currently being tried in a military court on charges of murder, after an activist of the radical leftist NGO B'Tselem filmed him shooting the terrorist mere minutes after the latter stabbed and wounded a soldier. The soldier has argued he shot the terrorist over concerns he was about to detonate a bomb belt that was thought to be hidden under his unseasonable coat.
Since the incident broke last Thursday, the Buzzilla analysis found that social networks in Israel - primarily Facebook - have been filled with groups supporting the soldier. There are at least 20 such groups that have been started, with a rapid rate of joining at over 13,000 members.
Yehuda Glick threatened for opposing killing injured terrorist
Following the incident, Glick - an outspoken nationalist activist who himself was shot and nearly killed by a Palestinian terrorist assassin - weighed in on the debate on Twitter, with harsh words for those rushing to defend the soldier's actions.
In the first of several posts, Glick opined: "The fact that the terrorist came to Hevron with the intent not to come out alive doesn't justify the disgraceful act of the soldier, and the soldier doesn't change the fact that the IDF is the most moral army in the world."
In a subsequent post, he denounced as "disgusting and nasty" those - presumably on the far-left - who in his words were "dancing gleefully" over the incident and using it to smear the entire Israeli army. But Glick then added: "No less disgusting are those who celebrate the act and perhaps even turn him into a hero."
The tweet elicited a string of responses both for and against - some of them angrily attacking his comments.
But the responses didn't end there; on Saturday night Glick posted a message sent to him by a man who threatened to attack him - sinisterly, it was sent to his private telephone number via Whatsapp.
Watch: 'I nearly died because of IDF open-fire restrictions'
As controversy continues to rage over the fatal shooting of a wounded terrorist in Hevron on Thursday, a former soldier who nearly lost his life in a similar situation has urged the public not to rush to judge the soldier who shot the Arab knifeman in the head.
Dror Zicherman lost his commanding officer and suffered critical injuries when a suicide bomber detonated his bomb vest during a security check in Tulkarem.
The incident took place in December 2005, during a routine anti-terror patrol in the Palestinian Authority city.
Speaking to Arutz Sheva, Zicherman blamed his commander's death and his own severe injuries on overly-stringent army procedures against opening fire on suspected terrorists. He insisted the actions of the soldier currently under investigation for killing the wounded terrorist - who had stabbed his comrade minutes earlier, and about whom troops in the vicinity had voiced concerns he may have been hiding an explosive device - should be viewed in light of those kinds of split-second, life-or-death scenarios soldiers regularly face.
Police told to investigate B'Tselem's 'coincidences'
Attorney Itamar Ben-Gvir and Lehava director Bentzi Gopshtain, both nationalist activists of the Otzma Yehudit party and residents of Kiryat Arba, contacted the Hevron police on Saturday night in a request for an investigation into events surrounding the fatal shooting of an injured terrorist.
The two called on police to investigate the activist of the radical leftist NGO B'Tselem who last Thursday filmed a soldier shooting a wounded Arab terrorist in the city, mere minutes after the terrorist and an accomplice stabbed and wounded a soldier.
Following the video footage the soldier was arrested and accused of murder. He has argued he shot the terrorist because he thought he was about to detonate a bomb belt, claiming there were concerns the terrorist had a bomb belt under his unseasonable coat, as corroborated by video evidence and testimony. The IDF on Saturday night claimed the terrorist had been checked and found not to have a bomb belt before the incident.
In the complaint sent on Saturday night, Ben-Gvir wrote, "I turn to you in my name and the name of my client Mr. Bentzi Gopshtain in a request to launch an investigation against the B'Tselem investigator Imad Abu Shamsiyeh who 'by coincidence' filmed the incident in Hevron immediately after the terrorist arrived to murder IDF soldiers."
New York Times, Palestinian Assailants and Suspect Journalism
Yet, two New York Times stories in recent days downplay Palestinian violence and mischaracterize most Palestinians killed in the last several months as "either attempting attacks or were suspected of doing so". The stories ignore Palestinians killed as they succeeded in carrying out attacks.
Thus Diaa Hadid's story today ("Israel Begins Murder Investigation of Soldier Who Shot Palestinian") misleads: "Israeli forces or civilians have shot dead 180 Palestinians during the same period. Most were either attempting attacks or were suspected of doing so".
Likewise, Isabel Kershner's March 25 article also completely ignores the vast number of killed Palestinians who had actually carried out attacks. She wrote: "Israeli forces or civilians have shot dead 180 Palestinians during the same period, most of whom were either attempting attacks or were suspected of doing so" ("Israeli Soldier Held in Shooting of Palestinian Captured in Video," emphasis added.)
Following communication with CAMERA's Israel office, last December Times editors commendably corrected a similar error by Hadid which wrongly alleged referred to "15 women who have tried, or are accused of trying, to stab Israeli soldiers or civilians," as if none had actually succeeded.
Despite Hamas Appropriation for Terrorist Purposes, Israel, UN and PA Restore Full Quantity of Construction Materials Entering Gaza
The amount of construction materials transferred into Gaza will be restored to its original scope, due to a decision reached by Israel, the United Nations and the Palestinian Authority, the Hebrew news site Walla reported on Thursday.
According to the report, during a recent meeting between the head of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), UN representatives and PA Minister of Public Works Mufeed al-Hasayneh, the sides committed to enhance the monitoring of and enforcement surrounding the quantity and use of the building materials entering Gaza. This, they concluded, would enable the amount going into the Hamas-controlled Strip to gradually return to its previous level.
This came in the wake of last month’s decision to cut the amount of material entering Gaza in half, after reports emerged that much of it had been appropriated by Hamas for military (i.e. terrorist) aims, rather than for its original purpose, which was to rehabilitate Gaza after the damage incurred during Operation Protective Edge in the summer of 2014.
Over the past few months, there have been at least seven incidents of Hamas tunnel collapses, in which a number of operatives were killed. According to Walla, this sparked Palestinian media outlets to suggest this was partially due to the shortage of cement with which to produce concrete – which makes it harder to reinforce the tunnels while they are being dug.
During the three-way meeting with UN officials, it was revealed that locals charged with supervising the use of construction materials in Gaza are regularly subjected to threats by Hamas and other groups trying to get their hands on the materials.
Sanders Poses w/Member of SJP Anti-Semitic Hate Group
In a desperate effort to keep left-wing money flowing into his failing campaign, Bernie Sanders delivered a speech blasting Israel and his campaign decided to put a member of Students for Justice in Palestine, an anti-Semitic hate group, right behind him. This isn't an accident or a coincidence. Bernie Sanders wanted to be associated with the SJP hate group.
Students for Justice in Palestine have invited anti-Semitic speakers to campus, harassed and intimidated Jewish students and supported terrorists. Here are a few examples.
In a 2006 speech at UC Irvine during “Israel Apartheid Week,” co-sponsored by SJP and the Muslim Student Association, SJP speaker Amir Abdel Malik Ali explicitly called for war and, apparently, mass murder, saying of Israel, “The truth of the matter is your days are numbered. We will fight you. We will fight you until we are either martyred or until we are victorious.”
In 2012, for example, SJP invited Islamic Jihad terrorist Khader Adnan to headline an SJP-sponsored event at American University. Adnan, who was at one point the official spokesman for Islamic Jihad, is a supporter of suicide bombings and terrorist attacks on civilians

This is the kind of ugliness that Bernie Sanders chooses to endorse. And he should be held accountable for it. (h/t vwVwwVwv)
Burned! With Friends Like Sanders Who Needs Enemies
Like all of the current presidential candidates on both sides of the aisle Bernie Sanders was invited to speak at the recent AIPAC conference. Unlike all of the other presidential candidates, Sanders declined that invitation, claiming he couldn’t find the time in his busy schedule to fit a 20 minute speech into a 3 day conference.

While the speech was breathtaking in the many ways Sanders demonstrated his utter lack of understanding of the history of the Middle East and of the many conflicts and challenges facing the U.S.A and its allies in the region, what was truly offensive about it was how Sanders tried to sugarcoat his delivery of numerous malicious lies and tropes of both the radical left and far-right about Israel with his claims of friendship for Israel and about his supposed close connections to Israel.
Sanders started off his speech by saying: “Let me begin by saying that I think I am probably the only candidate for president who has personal ties with Israel. I spent a number of months there when I was a young man on a kibbutz, so I know a little bit about Israel.” Certainly, that is comforting; Sanders “knows a little bit about Israel.” He should also have made it clear that the kibbutz he stayed at almost 53 years ago, Sha’ar HaAmakim, was a kibbutz officially affiliated with Mapam, a political party to the left of the socialist Labor Party. Sha’ar HaAmakim’s founders openly admired the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and they proudly flew the Communist red flag at all kibbutz events. Based on Sanders’ actions since 1963, including his 1988 honeymoon in the Soviet Union, and his decision – as the Mayor of Burlington, Vermont – to make Burlington the “sister city” of Communist Sandinista ruled Puerta Cabezas, Nicaragua, and of Yaroslavl, Russia, it appears that the main lessons Sanders learned from his brief stint on a far-left kibbutz was to admire communal or state control of the means of production, and not much about either Israel or the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Mutiny over set-text 'Romeo and Juliet' divides young Palestinians
Romeo and Juliet ends with the deaths of the star-crossed lovers bringing peace between two hostile houses, both alike in dignity. But, for Palestinian school students, Shakespeare’s tragedy has done the opposite by reinforcing the split between Gaza and the West Bank.
Protests by Gaza teachers against the English secondary-school curriculum drawn up for this school year by the Fatah-dominated Palestinian Authority (PA) in Ramallah have ensured that 17- and 18-year-old students of English in the Hamas-controlled coastal enclave will be studying King Lear, while their West Bank counterparts are taught Romeo and Juliet.
Teachers in the enclosed – and more conservative – Gaza argued that the story of young love across the factional divide between the Capulets and the Montagues was unsuitable.
Among the reasons cited for the opposition were fears that the plot glamorises suicide [!!] – regarded as a serious sin by many Muslims [!!!] – and might encourage teenagers to disobey their parents. Teachers were also worried that students might download one of several film versions containing “immoral” love scenes. The play can also be read as opposing arranged marriages of the sort still practised in sections of Palestinian society.
PreOccupiedTerritory: Palestinians Arrest Man For Smuggling In Government Transparency (satire)
Officials at the Ministry of the Interior maintained silence on the matter. “There is an ongoing investigation and legal case, and we cannot comment,” said a spokesman who refused to give information until plied with 300 shekels in cash. “Very good. Abu Ris tried to bring in a moderate amount of transparency when he came back from a visit with some Israelis in Jordan last month,” explained the official, who naturally insisted on anonymity. “Israelis seem to traffic in the stuff more than anyone else in the region, and the authorities view such dealings as suspect.”
Experts note that Israeli transparency is particularly galling to many Palestinian officials. “It’s bad enough that somebody is trying to bring transparency – or accountability, or any sense of volition and responsibility – to the Palestinian establishment,” explained Day LeMail, an analyst who studies Middle East politics. “But to make matters worse, it’s transparency from Israel, which is a real slap in the face to the supposed national project of delegitimizing Israel and replacing the Jewish State with another Arab country. All those international efforts to encourage boycotts of Israel become less compelling when Palestinian officials themselves traffic in Israeli products.”
Abu Ris’s fate remains unclear. Even if he is not convicted, he likely faces prolonged incarceration, torture, and mistreatment regardless of a trial, which would also be a mockery of justice, say his family. “He’s never going to get a good government job again after this,” predicted a rueful Hamdallah Abu Ris, his brother. “We can’t even figure out whom to talk to, or whose palms to grease, to get information. The bitter irony here is that even if Sami brought in any transparency, it’s completely inaccessible to the rest of us now.”
Promoting peace or assaulting Israel? The Rockefeller Brothers Fund supports groups that encourage or participate in the BDS movement
BDS demands “the end of Israel’s occupation and colonialization” of all Arab lands, dismantling the security wall that protects Israelis from Palestinian terror and the right of return to Israel of several million descendants of original Arab refugees. In the words of Palestinian BDS leader Omar Barghouti, “A return for refugees would end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”
In 1940, the five sons of John D. Rockefeller, Jr. founded the Rockefeller Brothers Fund as “a private, family foundation helping to advance social change that contributes to a more just, sustainable and peaceful world.”
With an endowment of more than $800 million and annual gift-giving of more than $30 million, RBF donates to many worthwhile organizations. But its persistent penchant for funding groups that actively support BDS against Israel raises serious concerns.
In 2015, RBF granted $140,000 to Jewish Voice for Peace. JVP supports BDS “as part of our work for freedom, justice and equality for all people,” and praises Palestinians “rising up en-masse against Israel’s brutal, decades-old regime of occupation, settler colonialism and apartheid.” How is contributing to JVP advancing a just and durable peace?
RBF gave $50,000 in 2015 to the American Friends Service Committee’s Israel program, which advocates for the Palestinian “right of return,” promotes BDS initiatives at universities and holds the BDS Summer Institute “focused on building skills for divestment campaigns.”
USC Students Protest David Horowitz's Speech By Silencing Themselves
Could there be any better representation of the college generation's anti-free speech obsession with suppressive speech codes and forbidden microaggressions than the image of students with their mouths taped shut?
Twitchy reports that Students at the University of Southern California protested a speech by David Horowitz last Wednesday, not by shouting him down or otherwise disrupting the event, but by duct-taping their own mouths shut and linking together in a pointless human chain at the side of the room in what has been described as the “lamest protest ever.”
Young America’s Foundation program officer Amy Lutz captured the lameness in photos and commentary which she tweeted out to her more than 11,000 followers:
IsraellyCool: WATCH: Bernie Sanders Admits Antisemitism Involved In BDS
I am posting this – despite not being a fan of Sanders’ views – because when even someone like Bernie, who tries to be “even-handed” when it comes to Israel and the palestinians. admits that antisemitism plays its part in the BDS movement, you know it can not be denied.

Printers at 12 Colleges Spew Hate Fliers in Suspected Hack
Just days before Easter, anti-Semitism reared its ugly head again — this time in filth-filled fliers that suddenly showed up in campus printers at a dozen universities across the country.
"White Man are you sick and tired of The Jews," the hateful message begins on the single-page missive that is adorned with swastikas and includes the web address for a neo-Nazi group.
The fliers were found at universities ranging from DePaul University in Chicago to the University of Massachusetts in Amherst to UCLA out in Los Angeles, according to the Anti-Defamation League and various published reports.
"We don't know whether this was timed to Easter, or not," said the ADL's Todd Gutnick.
DePaul University said it suspects their printers were hacked are now taking steps to secure them from future breaches.
London’s Goldsmiths University Hit By Second Incident of Antisemitic Graffiti
For the second time this academic year, antisemitic graffiti was found on the campus of Goldsmiths, University of London, The Algemeiner has learned.
Goldsmiths student Benjamin Gilbert, president of university’s Jewish Society, posted on his Facebook page Tuesday a photo of the scrawled slogan — “Goldsmiths it’s the symbol of world Jewry!” (with the word “gold” underlined) — on the bathroom wall of a campus building. Calling it “unacceptable,” Gilbert said this “creates a hostile environment toward Jews and other minorities on campus.”
Though he told The Algemeiner he was pleased that the university quickly removed the graffiti, as it had done for the earlier incident — when a swastika and demand to “burn down” a college building were etched on a poster for the campus — Gilbert said, “I am disappointed they haven’t made more effort to find those responsible.”
The Jewish Society at Goldsmiths also condemned the graffiti on Facebook, and demanded a review of the university’s security procedures.

FDA approves Teva’s treatment for asthma
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said on Wednesday it had approved Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd's drug to treat asthma in adults who have a history of severe attacks despite taking medication.
More than 22 million Americans had asthma as of 2013, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates, and there are more than 400,000 asthma-related hospitalizations each year.
The Teva drug, Cinqair, is one of a new wave of biotech drugs for severe asthma. It will compete with GlaxoSmithKline Plc's recently approved Nucala, as well as Novartis AG's and Roche Holding AG's established medicine Xolair.
India, Israel drive Google’s cloud services business
Emerging markets like India and a vibrant startup ecosystem across cities like Tel Aviv in Israel, coupled with higher demand from countries like the US and the UK, are driving adoption of Google's cloud services globally.
"UK, Europe, especially in the UK, these have been big for us. Japan as a leading economy, we are seeing a lot of growth. Places like Tel Aviv have a vibrant startup economy and we are seeing demand there.
"Emerging market, individual developers (are adopting Google's cloud)," Google Director - Product Management, Greg DeMichillie told reporters here.
He added that Google's cloud services have seen a higher adoption as it offers economy, security, future-proof infrastructure and access to innovation.
In the global cloud infrastructure services market, Google competes with the likes of Amazon Web Services, Microsoft's Azure and IBM.
Rare Ethiopian Torah scroll given to National Library
A rare copy of the "Orit," the Ethiopian Jewish Torah, was delivered last week to the National Library of Israel in a festive ceremony full of singing and dancing.
The scroll, translated from Hebrew to Ge'ez, was written around 400 years ago and used by the spiritual leader of the Jewish community in Ethiopia's Tigray province, Isaac Yaso.
The original manuscript of the Orit (from the Aramaic word "Oraita") contains five books of Moses as well as the books of Joshua, Judges and Ruth. The Orit is part of the Ethiopian Jewish community's mashafa kedus (holy scriptures).
The Orit played a central role in the holidays and daily lives of Ethiopian Jews. After its arrival in Israel, it was decided the scroll's final destination should be in Jerusalem. Now, it has finally found its permanent home, at the National Library.
