The West's favorite "moderate" politician, Mahmoud Abbas, peacefully threatened Israel saying that if Israel doesn't go back to the pre-1967 "Auschwitz borders," there will be perpetual war.

Which goes to show that the PLO letter to Israel at Oslo that solemnly promised to abandon violence was not worth the paper it was written on. And brings up the question that people are afraid to ask: what is to say that any "peace agreement" will not be torn up as well?

Fatah is planning a conference to debate this exact issue - whether to stay with supposed peace while supporting terror implicitly, or to return to supporting terror explicitly.

A "work accident" killed 2 terrorists in Beit Hanoun, but predictably the PalArabs blame an Israeli airstrike. After a lull, the 2008 PalArab self-death count rises to 213.

From Palestine Today (English):
Four people were killed and three went missing in the collapse of an underground tunnel Sunday north of the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt, security sources said.

Sources from Hamas informed Egyptian authorities of the incident.

Egypt is still searching for the missing people inside the tunnel, the source said.

The identities of the dead and missing were not immediately known, the source said.

Four Palestinians were injured and hospitalized earlier Sunday after the collapse of another tunnel, according to Palestinian medical sources.
Chances are that these tunnels collapsed due to the recent rains in Gaza.

The 2008 PalArab self-death count is now at 211.

From Ma'an:
A Hamas police officer was killed and several other Palestinians were wounded on Thursday when an explosive device detonated in a police station in Gaza City.

A spokesperson for the movement, Islam Shahwan, said the device had been discovered earlier in the day within the Hamas controlled territory and taken to a police station to be dismantled.

While experts took apart the bomb, it exploded, causing several secondary blasts, as well, Shahwan said.
I'm no expert, but if one was going to try to transport a bomb somewhere to be dismantled, wouldn't an open field be better than a place filled with weapons?

YNet adds:
Interior Ministry spokesman Ihab Elghseen later said that the man, a police officer and an engineer, died "as a martyr".
Which makes this good news all around.

The 2008 PalArab self-death count is now at 207.

Three Gazans were killed in yet another smuggling tunnel collapse in Rafah.

Fatah plans to celebrate the fourth anniversary of Yasir Arafat's death in Gaza. Not sure yet what Hamas thinks about it.

A "former" Al Aqsa Brigades terrorist was shot multiple times in Nablus.

Supreme Palestinian Judge Sheikh Tayseer At-Tamimi and two other members of the "Islamic Christian Front" gave a long list of grievances about how badly Arabs in Jerusalem are treated - things like inadequate schools and declining house sales in East Jerusalem. Simultaneously, Tamimi gave a fatwa forbidding Jerusalem Arabs from voting in the upcoming municipal elections. This way, they can complain all they want and not have to take any responsibility for it, whuch is pretty much their entire raison d'etre.

A teachers' union in Gaza accuses the PA of firing 300 Gaza teachers for security reasons.

Yesterday, French officials said that a letter was delivered to Gilad Shalit from his parents. Today, Hamas refuses to confirm or deny that they delivered the letter.

Press reports
that the Muslim Brotherhood would recognize Israel within the 1948 borders were called "nonsense" by that organization.

The 2008 PalArab self-death count climbs to 205.

UPDATE: On Monday a 32-year old Palarab was found murdered in the West Bank. 206.

An Islamic Jihad terrorist was accidentally killed during "training exercises" in Gaza.

A mortar was shot from Gaza to Israel on Tuesday night.

Hamas claims to have stopped an assassination attempt again one of their leaders in Gaza. "Unknown persons" tried to set a remote-controlled bomb near the leader's house.

A union leader says that Hamas has so far closed some 450 medical clinics in Gaza since the doctor strike started a couple of months ago. Still no word from Doctors Without Borders.

A breakaway Fatah movement has started in Syria called Fatah Uprising. Not surprisingly, this wing of the Fatah movement rejects all attempts at a peaceful resolution.

There is a tomato shortage in the West Bank. The reason? Jews were buying West Bank tomatoes at higher prices for the Sukkot holiday, tripling the prices. Even when Palestinian Arab farmers get rich from Jews, the story at Ma'an gets twisted as if Jews are forcing Palestinian Arab families to starve.

The 2008 PalArab self-death count is now 202.

Self-death number 200: An 18-year old Palestinian Arab was electrocuted in a tunnel Saturday night.

Flying pig moment: Ha'aretz quotes residents of Judea and Samaria in saying that Palestinian Arabs destroy their own olive groves and blame it on settlers:
"They benefit twice," he said. "Cutting the trees down benefits the groves, and they also benefit financially because the damage supposedly was caused by settlers."

Lieberman also recalled how leftists "torpedoed" an agreement between residents of the Itamar settlement and their Arab neighbors.

"Village representatives would have gone to the community and, along with Itamar residents, evaluated the crops' yield, and determined the sum Palestinians would receive for the harvest. The extreme left prevented this," he said.

Lieberman admits, however, that the so-called "hilltop youth" of the surrounding outposts often clash with the farmers.

"If we don't protect the individual rights of the Palestinians, our neighbors we will break our hold and our roots in Judea and Samaria. We have an interest in maintaining what belongs to them, and what belongs to us. They are human beings, and we must deal with them as with human beings," he said.

Orit Struk, the head of Judea and Samaria Human Rights Group, said the media's treatment of confrontations between settlers and Palestinians is hypocritical.

"More than a year ago we released a document describing hundreds of instances of Palestinians harming Jewish farmers and their property. The media wasn't interested at all, and the police weren't exactly excited either," she said.
Proving once again that Israeli "extremists" are people who want to live in peace with their neighbors, and Palestinian Arab "extremists" are people who want to blow up their Jewish neighbors.

Two PalArab women tried to commit suicide.

First there were reports that Condi Rice sent a message to Hamas praising them for the "calm," then Hamas denied it. Now Hamas says she did send a message through Arab foreign ministers, but not to praise them, apparently.

UPDATE:

Al-Azhar University is closing for the third time in a week because Hamas is attacking people there with bombs and guns. Ho hum.

A man in his twenties was found dead in Gaza of multiple gunshot wounds. Must be the Zionists' fault! (The 2008 PalArab self-death count rises to 201.)

And here's the latest news from "Jewish extremists," according to Firas Press:

They tried to go to the Temple Mount armed with - shudder - prayerbooks!

How extreme can you get?

A Hamas member was accidentally killed by a friend of his during a dispute in Gaza.

Hamas denied reports (that we had skeptically posted) that Condi Rice had praised them for their cooperation.

AqsaTube, the Hamas-themed YouTube ripoff, has been taken off the Internet following publicity.

Israel's "peace partners" commuted the death sentence of three alleged "collaborators" with Israel to seven years hard labor. Meanwhile, Israel praised the PA for....collaborating with them in discovering a Hamas tunnel in Hebron. I think the PA must commit collective suicide for breaking their own capital crime. At least two dead in a new tunnel explosion.

And a victim of another "clan clash" near Qalqilya.

In other news, Hamas is not only building tunnels in Gaza. The PA discovered tunnels where Hamas was storing explosives and they found an explosives factory, apparently anticipating expanding their war to the West Bank.

Hamas, proving again that it controls the tunnels between Gaza and Egypt, demanded that the tunnel operators pay a penalty for each death as a way to ensure that the diggers are in safe working conditions.

Al Jazeera English had a story about the Rafah tunnel industry, both in print and in video, where they claim that Hamas doesn't allow the tunnel operators to smuggle in people, drugs or weapons. Al Jizz romaticizes the smuggler, saying that they are necessary for Gazans to survive, and that they only bring in things like "shoes, chocolate and 7-Up."

Of course, the esteemed journalist doesn't bother finding out if Hamas operates any of its own tunnels to smuggle weapons. Clearly, the tons of weapons and explosives that Egyptian authorities are finding constantly are meant for Gaza, so the Jazeera reporter is being more than a little disingenuous.

Meanwhile, there was another tunnel death, this time by "electrocution," in Rafah.

The 2008 PalArab self-death count is now at 193.

A young man, whose age is being variously given as 17, 19 or 20, was shot and killed in Khan Younis. According to Palestine Today, he was a member of Islamic Jihad. A bus full of Hamas supporters were passing by, clapping and singing, and the victim asked them to stop singing because they were passing a funeral home. An altercation broke out, starting with rock throwing but escalating quickly into gunfire.

Hamas is calling reports out of Israel that Americans are helping Egyptians find tunnels - 42 in September alone - "fabricated," saying it is a Zionist plot to cause division between Hamas and Egypt.

Members of Hamas met with Mahmoud Abbas for two hours last night to discuss re-unification - in other words, ways that the PA can become even more terrorist than it already is.

"Lofa", which seemes to be a PA-aligned "human rights" monitoring group, accused Hamas of 21 human rights violations between September 19-28. These include murder, abductions, torture and attacking worshippers at a mosque.

The PCHR, which normally publishes its own exhaustive list of supposed Zionist crimes every Thursday, has not done so this week as of yet. However, it completely believed "eyewitnesses" who lied saying that "settlers" murdered a Palestinian Arab shepherd a few days ago.

Here's some of what's been happening during the past couple of days:

A 16-year old PalArab girl from Jenin was arrested by Israel for planning a suicide bombing in Netanya. Apparently, information about her plans came from the PA security services.

A 17-year old boy was killed by "stray bullets" in Rafah while visiting a friend.

Hamas is accusing Fatah of torturing a prisoner to death. Fatah denies it, saying that he died from illness. I don't have enough information to call this one a "self-death."

Some 150 children in Gaza have been injured from toy guns. It seems that "toy guns" in Gaza shoot plastic bullets that can cause serious injuries, especially to eyes. But they are very popular; the peace-loving Gazans like to buy these guns for their kids for Eid.

On Monday, a shell from Gaza aimed at Israel fell short and landed on the Gaza size of the fence.

The 2008 PalArab self-death count is now at 191.

Thursday, September 25, 2008

Another clan clash in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the death of an 18-year old.

Hamas continues to harass, arrest and torture doctors in Gaza. Yesterday they arrested a pediatrician.

Doctors Without Borders still refuses to comment on Hamas' campaign of terror against doctors. The only mention I could find on their main website was just noting the strike, implicitly blaming the doctors, and not a word about the arrests and assaults that have been well documented.

Egypt found another ton of TNT, plus hand grenades and mortars, in the Sinai, meant for Gaza.

Mahmoud Zahaar imitated Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, now saying that Israel has changed from an expansionist bullying state hellbent on enlarging its borders "from the Nile to the Euphrates" and instead it is a pathetically weak nation who is offering Jews money to leave territory, proving its imminent demise.

Firas quotes some Egyptian sources as saying that yesterday's tunnel blast was not the result of Egyptian explosions but because some fuel in the tunnel ignited. Although it quoted Reuters and AFP, I could not find any article in the MSM confirming that, so for now those deaths will not count in my self-death count.

The 2008 PalArab self-death count is now at 190.

5 were killed in a tunnel explosion in Gaza. Since it appears that Egypt set the explosion, these will not be counted in my self-death counts.

In a move that symbolized the Gaza/West Bank split better than any other, both governments chose wildly different days to celebrate Eid at the end of Ramadan. The PA says it starts on September 30th, Hamas says the 25th.

Finally, a purely anti-semitic anti-Palin screed in the Pakistan Daily site.

Another man was killed by falling into a smuggling tunnel. I believe that this makes 37 tunnel deaths this year.

One more was found dead of gunshot wounds in Deir al-Balah in Gaza.

An anti-Hamas news site is reporting more evidence that last July's beach bombing that killed 5 Hamas members and a girl was from internal fighting.

A previously unknown Gaza group is threatening to shoot rockets at the Rafah crossing and to kidnap Egyptian soldiers unless Palestinian Arab prisoners in Egyptian prisons are released.

All the Palestinian Arabic media is reporting that a website "funded by the Mossad" is offering a cash reward for the assassination of Samir Kuntar.

Once again, the priorities of people getting Eid gifts will not be poor people but children of terrorists, alive and dead.

The Israeli media is reporting on the apparent motivation of the driver in yesterday's terror attack: A broken heart!
The terrorist who rammed his BMW into a group of soldiers at a central Jerusalem thoroughfare late Monday night has been identified as Kasem Mugrabi, 19, from Jebl Mukaber in east Jerusalem.

Mugrabi, a resident of the same village as the Mercaz Harav terrorist who killed eight in March, wounded fifteen people before being shot dead by an off-duty IDF officer.

The assailant had no previous security record, police said Tuesday.

According to an initial police investigation, the 19-year-old wanted to marry his cousin, and when she refused his offer, he decided to carry out a terror attack, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said.
Unrequited love has led to many a suicide in the West, and it is tragic that the ideas of Romeo and Juliet are such a part of our culture that lovestruck victims will sometimes kill themselves.

The Palestinian Arab culture, however, doesn't romanticize suicide - it romanticizes self-destructive mass murder. It is unthinkable to just kill oneself, because that adds shame and dishonor to your family.

Our young, pained Kasem Mugrabi seems to have been jilted and he responded with the Palestinian Arab concept of ultimate self-sacrifice - to kill oneself while trying to murder as many of the enemy as possible. A shameful act is thus elevated to an act of martyrdom, and the loss of a love on Earth is replaced by the concept of unlimited sex in Paradise.

Rather than hoping that the object of his desires would cry for him and regret her rejection, the terrorist can hope that she will be jealous that she didn't fall for such an honorable man - the same type of man who Palestinian Arab culture considers heroes.

This is the idea of romance in Palestinian Arab culture - a society where mass murder is celebrated so routinely that it becomes an attractive alternative for shamed people to become heroes.

A "mysterious explosion" Deir al-Balah in Gaza injured 3. Those words are the usual euphemism for "premature terror bomb explosion."

Hamas' leader promised that Gaza will never go back to the way it was before Hamas' coup, bragging about how much better it is now. The few dozen Christians left in Gaza and the doctors who are still on strike had no comment.

The PA, meanwhile, continues to indirectly bankroll Hamas in Gaza, today offering $500 to the families of every Gaza prisoner.

Ma'an (English) reports that Israel confiscated "vast areas of Palestinian lands" in the Jordan Valley. What exactly is a "vast amount of land"? 140 dunams, which is about 0.05 square miles.

In protest of Israel's restrictions of concrete to Gaza (which Hamas uses to build Hezbollah-style military bunkers and weapons tunnels) a Palestinian Arab in Rafah decided to build a sturdy house out of mud, straw, wood and garbage, to symbolize to the world Palestinian Arab suffering. A picture of the house shows that he included at least one other essential item to prove how bad things are in Gaza - a satellite dish.

Another Palestinian Arab died in a smuggling tunnel, this one apparently electrocuted.

An Islamic Jihad member who was shot a few days ago died from his wounds. Hamas says it was an internal Islamic Jihad dispute, PIJ says that Hamas militia entered a fight and was responsible for his death. (It is once again notable that Ma'an accepts the Hamas version of the story without question.)

The moderate Al Aqsa Brigades in Gaza says that if things don't improve soon, they will end the "calm" at the end of this month. Part of their demands is the stopping of Israel's "Judaization" of Jerusalem.

Perhaps they will next demand the ending of the wetness of water.

For the thirteenth consecutive week, Palestinian Arabs have managed to kill each other in far greater numbers than the evil IDF has managed to kill them.

The score this week (Thursday-Wednesday) is 20-1, based on my tracking PalArab self-death and the PCHR tracking of those killed by the IDF.

So is Hamas guilty of "genocide"?

As I mentioned last night, there was a fatal tunnel collapse yesterday in Gaza. Now we know that two were killed. It is interesting that Ma'an refers to them as "civilians."

Palestine Press Agency says that there are six missing in a second tunnel collapse.

In addition, a Hamas member was killed while performing a "military maneuver" in Khan Younis.

Our 2008 PalArab self-death count has now risen to 183.
