In August, I gave the highlights of an article from a Dubai newspaper called "The Qualities of Jews in the Quran."

To summarize, here were the attributes of Jews described in the Quran according to Muslims themselves from that article:

  1. Jews steal money
  2. Jews use usury to enrich themselves and impoverish non-Jews
  3. Jews don't care about human life
  4. Jews are cowards, hiding behind fortified walls
  5. Jews betray all agreements and covenants
  6. Jews distort words of holy books
  7. Jews are killers of prophets and other fine people
  8. Jews want to extinguish the light of Allah
  9. Jews bring corruption to the lands they are in

Now, an entirely new article with the identical title has been published in Felesteen. The list is different, too, although it does overlap.

So here is the Palestinian Arab list of the qualities of Jews:

  1. Jews have knowledge of the truth but they conceal it among themselves and give bad advice to others so they can profit.
  2. Jews are miserly
  3. Jews obtain other people's money unjustly, using usury and fraud and deception
  4. Jews are cowards, hiding behind fortified cities and building walls and living in ghettos
  5. Jews insist on doing sin
  6. Jews circumvent things that are forbidden
  7. Jews are foolish

Both articles back up these lists with specific citations of Quranic verses.

These are not coming from anti-Islam sites. These are not some apologetics written in English to pretend that the Quran is not antisemitic. These are two independent articles, written two months and a thousand miles apart, by two different Muslim scholars for Muslim audiences, meant to describe factually how the Quran thinks of Jews - and how Muslims are supposed to think of Jews.

The topic of Muslim antisemitism is minimized and swept under the rug in mainstream Western media, or it is attributed to hate for Israel. But these articles prove that Jew-hatred is baked into the source texts of Islam, and Muslims are quite open about this among themselves.

The West must stop pretending that somehow Muslims are only anti-Zionist. Muslims are taught to denigrate and hate Jews. Antisemitism isn't an anomaly among Muslims; it is regarded as a religious obligation!

UPDATE: Egypt's El Fagr has reproduced the Felesteen list in February 2015.

From MEMRI:

Following are excerpts from an interview with former Jordanian MP Sheik Abd Al-Mun'im Abu Zant, which aired on Al-Aqsa TV on September 7, 2014:

Abd Al-Muni'm Abu Zant: We have to understand the true nature of the Jews, because the entire world is deceived and tormented by them. The Holy Koran has revealed their true nature, as expressed by our masters, the prophets.

[…]

One could go on forever about the deceptiveness of the Jews. They are liars. They allow cannibalism, and the eating of human flesh. Check their Talmud and religious sources. On their religious holidays, if they cannot find a Muslim to slaughter, and use drops of his blood to knead the matzos they eat, they slaughter a Christian in order to take drops of his blood, and mix it into the matzos that they eat on that holiday.
I have yet to see an Arabic-language news article that denies the classic blood libel.

Perhaps stung by the fact that Saudi Arabia and Israel have been on the same side in many regional conflicts, the official Saudi news agency Okaz published an op-ed to ensure that Saudi readers will never think warmly of Jews.

Written by Abdullah al-Sultan, the article touches on many of the classic manifestations of Arab and Muslim antisemitism, the bigotry that no "human rights" group wants to admit exists.

Some lowlights from the article:

  • After World War II, the Jewish-controlled media started concentrating on making Arabs and Islam look bad.
  • "Much of the culture of mutilation practiced by Jews against Arabs comes through movies, books, newspapers, magazines and entertainment programs on satellite channels."
  • Jews ruthlessly used 9/11 to incite the West against Muslims.
  • Israel publishes false copies of the Kora n to make it look evil and bigoted.
  • Jews love to kill others and to seize their property and possessions and honor, not to mention how they are the killers of prophets.
  • Jews are known for breaking their covenants and conventions.
  • As the Koran says, Jews are in the forefront of treachery, fraud and extortion.
  • Jews make themselves look moral, but Judaism allows them to cheat and steal and kill with complete impunity.
  • This is because they think they are God's chosen people, and this makes them feel greatness and superiority over others.
  • In conclusion, while the Jews were able to outwit the world for a while, they will not be able to continue to do so forever.

Articles like this never have any negative repercussions. There are never any outraged letters to the editor or comments and the articles are never considered controversial in the mainstream Arabic press. When anything remotely anti-Muslim is written in Israeli newspapers there are instant condemnations from all quarters and anguished responses written to distance the responderfrom the noxious article - but in the Arab world, virulently antisemitic articles written for state media doesn't cause the slightest consternation.

In fact, if you want to make Arabs sit up and notice an article, write one that is complimentary to Jews and Judaism - and watch the outrage that results.

This simple test shows the huge difference in morality between the Arab world and Israel. In one side, hate is encouraged and co-existence is derided, and the other side is the exact opposite. But pointing out that self-evident fact is not something that the media or human rights groups are comfortable with.

So they pretend it isn't there.

The inevitable Arab backlash against Mahmoud Abbas' cynical but explicit recognition of the Holocaust has begun.

Naturally, it is starting in an Egyptian newspaper but from a Jordanian writer.

Dr. Ibrahim Alloush (a high percentage of Arab antisemites have advanced degrees, it seems) writes in El Badil that for Arabs to recognize the Holocaust is even more dangerous than having them recognize Israel as a Jewish state.

Alloush, after describing how Israel manipulates the Holocaust to force the world to accede to its evil plots, then stages a full, sickening example of Holocaust denial. He says that there was no Nazi plan to exterminate the Jews, that there were not six million Jews even living in Europe under Nazi rule, and that not a single Jew died in a gas chamber - only a few hundred thousand from starvation and disease, at most.

He ends off saying that the words "Israel" and "Holocaust" must always be placed in quotes, since neither of them are real.

Alloush has written for, and been interviewed by, many media outlets. He has a website called Free Arab Voice and another called NoZion as well as a Twitter account where he spouts his hate and posts links to his articles.

This guy teaches at a Jordanian university.

But I don't think that any academic organizations in the US or Europe will be upset about what Alloush is presumably teaching his students. No, professors spouting Holocaust denial is fine, especially if they are Arab, because, you know, freedom of speech trumps unimportant things like truth. You will find no condemnations from Lisa Duggan or Judith Butler or anyone else involved in  progressive, liberal academic associations who say that Israeli Jews building houses are the worst violations of human rights imaginable.

Jordan is holding a conference that aims to ensure that Jews have no rights in Jerusalem.

From Jordan's official Petra News Agency:

Deputizing for His Majesty King Abdullah II, HRH Prince Ghazi Bin Mohammad, the King's Advisor for Religious and Cultural Affairs, on Monday opened "The Road to Jerusalem" Conference that is being attended by a number of Muslim and Christian religious scholars, parliamentarians and politicians from across the Arab and Muslim worlds.

Organised by the World Islamic Sciences and Education (WISE) University, the Lower House Palestine Committee and the Muslim World League, the conference will tackle topics such as the religious significance of Al Aqsa Mosque and other Muslim and Christians sites in Jerusalem, and ways in which the Arab and Muslim worlds and the international community can come to the aid of the occupied city.

The Rapporteur of the Higher Committee and spokesperson of the Conference, Deputy Yahia Al Saud, said in his opening remarks that the developments in Arab countries over the past few years and the so-called Arab Spring affected the Palestinian issue and led to an increase in Israeli arrogance and violations against the Palestinians in the West Bank.

He also highlighted efforts of His Majesty the King in defense of the Al Aqsa Mosque and called for Arab and Islamic support to confront the Israeli schemes.

Palestinian Awqaf Minister Mahmoud Al Habbash also made remarks in which he stressed the importance of the topics to be tackled during the conference, pointing to the historic and religious importance of Jerusalem.

He said that the Israeli occupation authorities allocated $4 billion this year to complete the Judaization of the holy city and urged Arabs and Muslims to confront the Israeli plans that target Islamic and Christian holy sites in the occupied city.

President of the Arab Parliament Ahmad Al Jarwan pointed to the agreement signed by Jordan and Palestine under which the Palestinian side "reaffirmed" the status of His Majesty King Abdullah as the custodian of the holy sites in Jerusalem. The agreement, he said, aimed to preserve the Arab identity of the holy city.
This conference, as is usual in the Arab and Muslim world, does not admit that Jews have any historic or religious attachment to Jerusalem. Which is ironic because their official English news reports call it by its Hebrew-derived name, not "Al Quds."

Jordan, of course, is the country that destroyed scores of synagogues within days of taking control of Jerusalem's Old City in 1948. It also stole gravestones from the ancient Jewish cemetery at the Mount of Olives and used them for latrines and to pave roads.

Now this enlightened country is demanding that Israel, which allows all religions to have free access to Jerusalem, to bring back the situation between 1948 and 1967 when the Old City was Judenrein.

Because, you see, the Jordanian hypocrites and antisemites are claiming that Jews are the ones who are dishonoring Jerusalem!

As I've pointed out before, the proof of Arab antisemitism isn't finding lots and lots of newspaper articles about events like these that deny Jewish ties to Jerusalem, or that deny the Holocaust, or claim that Jews drink the blood of Gentiles.

The proof is that no Arabs are willing to protest them.

Here is the cover of a new book on human rights in Islam.

Really.

The author of the book is Amna Nasir, and on Sunday she gave a talk  to promote the book at a library in Egypt. According to this article, however, she didn't speak about human rights in Islam, but about how evil Judaism is.

The Jewish religion is violent and extreme, and this is because of the nature of the Jews of Biblical times who were marred by violence and aggression, she said.

Nasir noted that Jews kept complaining to Moses in the desert about not enough food and water, and they worshiped the golden calf. There are many examples of "grumbliong Jews," she notes.

Nasir added that when Jesus came on the scene his message of peace was like a slap in the face to the extremist Jews, but they refused to come to terms with their inherent violent nature.

We've spoken before about Arab projection, but this is off the charts.

It is also interesting that in so many of my recent stories about Egyptian antisemitism, the haters are women.

Egypt's Masrawy newspaper decided to perform a public service and tell its readers what the Holocaust was.

The beginning of the article isn't bad at all. It gives a fairly good overview of the highlights of the Nazi attempt to destroy Jews and others.

However, the article ends with "But there are many who deny the Holocaust and who provide evidence to prove their opinion, including that the extermination of 6 million Jews is grossly exaggerated, and the lack of a single document that talks about the details of what was done in the gas camps or concentration camps." It then lists the names of some Holocaust deniers and their qualifications ("famous historian," "philosopher," etc.)

So thanks to Masrawy, Egyptian readers can decide for themselves what the truth is.

Given the endemic antisemitism in Egyptian media, it isn't hard to figure out what most of them would decide.
"Comrade" Kayed al-Ghoul, a member of the political bureau of the Marxist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, spoke about Mahmoud Abbas' acknowledgment of the Holocaust during a television interview.

Ghoul said, "These statements reflect the principled and ethical position of the Palestinian people against Nazi fascism against humanity, including Jews, regardless of the numbers that are being circulated as victims of the Holocaust.

Ghoul added, "The Zionist movement has exploited the Holocaust and Jewish suffering in the promotion and establishment of its racist, fascist colonial entity at the expense of the Palestinian people, and the governments of the Israeli occupation of successive did not draw the lessons of the Holocaust, but rather re-produced and practiced the policies that the Nazis perpetrated, including massacres and violations of the rights of the Palestinian people and the rights of the Arab peoples. This requires the international community to deal with the state of the occupation and its policies the same way that they dealt with Nazism and its crimes against humanity."

This seems to be much closer to what Abbas really meant than how his statement is being spun by the media.

Egyptian newspaper Al Talyia News has an article by columnist Ghada Abd El Moneim (translated by Shawarma News):

We received news of a (classified) CIA report that was leaked by the Egyptian General Intelligence, the report points to the truth of the information circulating in the Arab region about the brutality and secret rituals practiced by the Jews in their festivals such as Passover and Chanukah, including the slaughter of non-Jews and offering human sacrifices to the God, and confirming that Jewish extremists of Palestinian origin did kill a number of children to mix their blood (for the baking) of matzos for Chanukah every now and then, as well as confirming their killing of foreign children from African countries, Palestinian, Egyptian, Moroccan children, Egyptian prisoners of war, Palestinian prisoners to use their blood for the baking of matzos for Chanukah.
The article links to a lengthy YouTube video that purports to prove how Jews ritually murder Christians.

Moneim also posted the article on her Facebook page.

As usual, it is impossible to find any articles in Egypt - or even comments to these articles - that say that the blood libel is a lie.

Oh, and a major Egyptian newspaper, Al Masry Al Youm, had an article on Sunday about how the Holocaust is just a means for Israel to blackmail the world and oppress Palestinians.

Here is the entire statement from Mahmoud Abbas on Holocaust Remembrance Day:
In response to a question on the occasion of Holocaust Day, raised in conversation with Rabbi Marc Schneier, President Mahmoud Abbas said that: what happened to the Jews in the Holocaust is the most heinous crime to have occurred against humanity in the modern era. He expressed his sympathy with the families of the victims and many other innocent people who were killed by the Nazis.

President Abbas stressed that the Holocaust is a reflection of the concept of ethnic discrimination and racism which the Palestinians strongly reject and act against.

'The world must do its utmost to fight racism and injustice in order to bring justice and equality to oppressed people wherever they are. The Palestinian people, who suffer from injustice, oppression and denied freedom and peace, are the first to demand to lift the injustice and racism that befell other peoples subjected to such crimes.'

'On the incredibly sad commemoration of Holocaust Day, we call on the Israeli government to seize the current opportunity to conclude a just and comprehensive peace in the region, based on the two states vision, Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace and security.'
If he had shut up after the first paragraph, it could be argued that this is significant. As it is, Abbas is cynically using the Holocaust as a way to say that Jews are doing to Palestinian Arabs the same "injustice"  and "oppression" that Jews suffered under Nazis. Jews are merely other people who are subjected to "such crimes" that Palestinian Arabs suffer today. The Holocaust, in Abbas words, changes from an almost successful attempt to destroy an entire people into a mere "reflection of discrimination and racism."

At the very same moment of this cynical statement, Abbas is demanding to ethnically cleanse Judea and Samaria of every single Jew who lives there today.

And today you can read his own book that denies the Holocaust from his official webpage - copyright renewed 2011.

Why does the world continue to be dazzled by statements made by accomplished liars?

From  Malay Mail Online:

Feminism is a facade used by a secret Zionist-Christian alliance to dishonour Muslim women, according to Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) president Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman.

He said feminism, which seeks to promote women’s rights and gender equality, is a cynical ploy which aims to commoditise women and help capitalists control the world.

“The model introduced by the west is a model that will destroy women especially Muslim women… all these slogans of women’s liberation, under the name of women’s rights, would actually turn women into objects of trade and help their attempt to dominate the world and Muslims,” Zaik told a press conference after opening the Isma Women’s Convention yesterday

“All the fight for women’s rights upheld by the West like feminism is actually a facade.”

Since Malaysia’s general elections in 2013, the non-governmental organisation has been growing in popularity, striking a chord with more conservative Malay Muslims who support its push for Malaysia to become an Islamic state.

The president of the conservative Islamist group added that feminism will not improve the standing of women and that Muslim women embracing feminism would fall into the trap of the “Jewish capitalist” conspiracy.

Zaik also argued that the rationalism and critical thinking promoted by feminism was a way to trick Muslim women into abandoning Islam.

“The west is trying to paint Muslim women as conservative, uncritical not progressive. This comes from the ideology of rationalism that idolises rational (thinking).

“They are trying to trick Muslims into being critical of Islam, the hadith. If you are critical then you are portrayed as modern and rational,” he said.

Zaik said Muslim women should instead look towards Isma’s campaign to promote “moderation” among women.

He said that “moderation” meant concealing the body and being demure.
I love how Malaysian Muslim antisemites always forget to translate their bigotry into socially acceptable "anti-Zionist" terms.

Al Wafd is starting a series of articles by Ramsey Zikilma about, what else, Jews.

And the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

And the Talmud.

He starts off by recommending that people read the Protocols, and something called the "fifth edition of the Talmud."

He talks about the bogus "Benjamin Franklin prophecy" warning about how Jews are evil and would take over the US. Naturally, the Jews and their Freemasons are trying to destroy Egypt.

The second article introduces his idea of the Talmud, which we are told is a book that was taken by the Zionist gangs to control the world and and not only Arab peoples. And he goes on to say that Jews killed Christians in Egypt to use their blood for the cakes used in the "Feast of Yom Kippur."

Can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

The writer has written for other mainstream Arabic media like Asharq al-Awsat and El Shorouk.

This is a 60 foot wide mural in Los Angeles put up in 1998 for the Arbeter Ring/Workmen’s Circle Southern California campus, a secular (and socialist) Jewish organization.

Recently, it was defaced:

A mural on the south side of the Arbeter Ring/Workmen’s Circle Southern California campus at 1525 S. Robertson Blvd was defaced with graffiti that reads “Free Palestine!!!!”

It was not immediately clear when the graffiti was spray-painted onto the building, as phones at the center were not answered on Thursday morning, Jan. 6 [sic - should be February], the day the Journal learned about the vandalism.

The wall-sized mural itslef – titled, ”A shenere un besere velt,” according to the Mural Conservancy of Los Angeles (a Yiddish phrase meaning, “A more beautiful and better world) – depicts cultural, biblical and historical imagery. The imagery includes a menorah, Israelites wandering in the desert, a young girl waving Israeli and American flags, and more.

Artist Elisio Art Silva completed the mural in 1998, according to the conservancy organization.

Photos obtained by the Journal on Thursday morning by a Pico-Robertson resident who was driving by and spotted the defaced building show the graffiti spaning nearly the entire length of the building, which, according to the conservancy group, measures 60-feet-long and 15-feet-high.

Robert Adler-Peckerar, executive director of the L.A.-based organization Yiddishkayt, which is a frequent collaborator with the national office and local branch of Workmen’s Circle, said the message of the graffiti reflects an ignorance about the mission of the victimized group. He described Workmen's Circle as being historically committed to ideas of “social progress, equality, human rights, civil rights and the general pursuit of human dignity,” which includes promoting a “progressive, peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” he said.

“I feel like this [the graffiti] indicates something much more about thoughtlessness than about an actual commitment to a free Palestine,” Adler-Peckerar said in an interview. “And a tremendous amount of cultural illiteracy [on the vandal(s)’ part].”
The Arbeter Ring/Workmen's Circle has traditionally been a socialist movement, anti-religious but very committed to Jewish/Yiddish culture and what it calls "social justice." It would not be called a Zionist organization.

In its statement, it said:
“It is ironic that the slogan defaced the mural of an organization whose observance of kol nidre, a major Jewish holiday, includes an Arabic American singer leading the hymn, ‘Peace, Shalom, Salaam,’ and that includes the aspirations of the Palestinian people in our other secular Jewish observances,” the statement continues.

We invite those responsible for the slogan-painting to meet with us to discuss far more effective ways of encouraging progress toward a lasting peace between the Israeli and Palestinian states and their peoples,” said Ruth Judkowitz, Chairmentsh (chair person) of SoCal Arbeter Ring/Workmen’s Circle.

This graffiti shows that to many supposedly "pro-Palestinian" activists, their target isn't Israel but Jews. It isn't "thoughtlessness" - it is hate.

It is a shame that an organization that says it pursues justice cannot recognize a hate crime and instead ascribes it to "cultural illiteracy." Even worse is its painful naivete thinking that more cowtowing can remove hate.

(h/t Doris, Bob K.)

UPDATE: New graffiti artists changed "Free" to another four letter word:

The Workmen's Circle response was that "this new defacement proves 'that there are idiots on both sides.'"

I think there are idiots on three sides here.

From Enet English:

There has been widespread condemnation of claims made by a Syriza politician that the name of the country's new state broadcaster Nerit has Jewish roots and that Prime Minister Antonis Samaras’s recent visit to Thessaloniki Synagogue was an act threatening Greece.

Theodoros Karypidis, who was selected at the weekend as Syriza's candidate for the post of regional governor of Western Macedonia, made the comments in a Facebook post on June 15 that came to light on Wednesday.

In the post, Karypidis claimed that the new station’s acronym is linked to the Hebrew word for candle - Ner - and that candles lit during the Jewish festival of Hanukkah celebrate Jewish victory over ancient Greece.

"Samaras is lighting the candles (Nerit) in the seven branched candelabra of the Jews and lighting Greece on fire after his visit to Thessaloniki Synagogue ... He is organising a new Hanukkah against the Greeks," wrote Karypidis, a journalist who has hosted Golden Dawn figures on his local television show.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the American Jewish Committee said it was is "appalled by the antisemitic statements".

"Vile, outrageous expressions of antisemitism in Greece are coming not only from Golden Dawn on the far right but also, as Theodoros Karypidis's Facebook post illustrates, from the far left," said the AJC's executive director, David Harris.

"Prime Minister Samaras and his government laudably reject these dangerous attacks and recognise the right of the Greek Jews, like all Greek citizens, to live in peace and dignity."

"Whipping up hatred of Jews, for all kinds of alleged conspiracies, is an all-too-familiar and long-time tactic of political extremists with nothing constructive to offer about real-life issues facing their country," said Harris.

"It also reveals once again that, for all their purported differences, far-right and -left politicians can have more in common than they might otherwise admit - the capacity for blind hatred, bigotry and demagoguery." he continued.
It looks like Kaypidis' Facebook post also said that Jewish girls born during Chanukah are named "Nera" and that Chanukah is an anti-Greek holiday.

A few years ago there was an antisemitic play that received some publicity from the usual idiotic crowd. The BBC called it "brilliant." It was called Seven Jewish Children, by Caryl Churchill.

The entire format of the play was supposedly how Jews think, in terms of what they teach their children. A small sample:

Tell her about the family of dead girls, tell her their names why
not, tell her the whole world knows why shouldn’t she know? tell
her there’s dead babies, did she see babies? tell her she’s got
nothing to be ashamed of. Tell her they did it to themselves. Tell
her they want their children killed to make people sorry for them,
tell her I’m not sorry for them, tell her not to be sorry for them,
tell her we’re the ones to be sorry for, tell her they can’t talk
suffering to us. Tell her we’re the iron fist now, tell her it’s the fog
of war, tell her we won’t stop killing them till we’re safe, tell her I
laughed when I saw the dead policemen, tell her they’re animals
living in rubble now, tell her I wouldn’t care if we wiped them out,
the world would hate us is the only thing, tell her I don’t care if
the world hates us, tell her we’re better haters, tell her we’re
chosen people, tell her I look at one of their children covered in
blood and what do I feel? tell her all I feel is happy it’s not her.
Don’t tell her that.

Today, Palestinian Media Watch translates something on the Fatah Facebook page also about what they want to teach their children. But this isn't a fictionalized, racist account of the mindset of Arabs - this is what the "moderate" Fatah party, led by Mahmoud Abbas, really thinks:

Teach your children to love the soil.
Teach them that we live in misery.
Teach them that there is a seed in the soil;
if you water it with blood,
it will sprout a revolution.

Will anyone write a play based on reality rather than the fevered dreams of Israel-haters?

An actor in last Ramadan's antisemitic "Khaybar" miniseries says that it is being distributed to many more Arab satellite channels in coming months.

Helmy Fouda said it is important for people to watch the series because it helps them understand how conspiratorial Jews are and helps viewers know how to think about Jews.

Although the miniseries did not do well in the ratings, it won an award for Best Historical Film and he hopes that it will attract many more viewers.

When it first aired, I was involved in creating and delivering a petition for Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International to condemn a clear example of antisemitic incitement.

Although they claim to be against antisemitism, both of them refused to acknowledge the petition, and to this day they have never said a word against Arab antisemitism.

Monday, January 27, 2014

Last week, I reported that the new designated poet laureate of Belgium, whose pen name is Charles Ducal, is an antisemite, and I posted a couple of his poems to prove it. I introduced it with a story from the Antisemitism blog which saw the story in the Philosemitisme blog.

He wrote an email to the Philosemitisme blog, the Anti-Semitism blog and me but for some reason he didn't bother to find out our email addresses; he sent them to an independent investigative reporter who wanted to find out their reactions on the articles and their contents and he forwarded it to me.

Here is the (auto-)translation of his (lawyer's?) vaguely threatening email:

We demand the immediate cessation of the following accusations of anti-Semitism in relation to Charles Ducal and require immediate rectification of the coverage of Charles Ducal in:
- http://elderofziyon.blogspot.be/2014/01/new-poet-laureate-of-belgium-is.html .

Please find your claims about his alleged anti-Semitism below refuted by Charles Ducal (pseudonym of French Dumortier ) :

There is an article on the blog of "Elders of Zion" accusing me of anti-Semitism. It is further alleged that my moral outrage it exclusively on the Jews and for example I have never written anything about the atrocities of the Belgians in the Congo.

As you, consciously or unconsciously, create confusion between the concept of "criticism of Israeli policy (anti- Zionism)" and " hatred of Jews ( anti-Semitism )" , for clarity , the following :

* I, like any reasonable person , make a distinction between Jew , Israeli and Zionist. I first of all have respect for the Jewish religion and great respect for what Jewish people in all times have performed in the fields of science, art and philosophy around the world. Since I come from a Flemish family who risked their lives to hide Jewish children from the Nazis, I have a deep sense of compassion for the Jews during the Holocaust. The Poetry Gazette No. 6 of 2012 has two poems of mine , entitled " Somewhere in Poland ," which unequivocally express this compassion. These poems will also be found in my collection to appear in March. Second, I cherish no hostile feelings towards the people of Israel and have never so much as a word has given rise to suspicion in that direction . Third, I'm an opponent of the Zionist policy of the Israeli government towards the Palestinian population , as described in dozens of well-documented books , such as " A cry for justice ' Dries van Agt , former Prime Minister of the Netherlands and former ambassador to the European Union, Japan and the U.S.. On this basis, one may call me " anti- Zionist" . I do not deny this point for those who strongly disagree with me, but the label "anti-Semite " is an expression of bad faith, defamation and slander .

• The poetry cycle "After Auschwitz " was written based on "The ethnic cleansing of Palestine" , a book written by an Israeli historian Ilan Pappe based on Israeli military archives. It is your right to disagree, as it is also my right in that study contributes to see in the uncovering of the historical reality .

• In 2010, appeared in Knack a series by my hand on the occasion of 50 years of Congolese independence, a series of the colonization and plundering of the Congo and the state of war today. These poems are included in my new collection to appear in March . I furthermore have poems written in response to the Iraq war and injustice in the world (poverty , war , etc. ) in general , as can be verified in my anthology published in 2012 . The argument that I let my moral outrage only for 'hatred of the Jews ' is this adequately refuted, I suppose.

• Finally, I would like to ask you whether you fully realize the severity of your accusation directed at me and the moral damage caused by the dissemination through social media. To turn the tragedy of the Jews under the Nazis into an instrument of cheap invective is hopefully for you due to a flurry of levity and not the result of a vulgar opportunism , which every righteous man ( Jew and non - Jew ) would be ashamed of.
I do not speak Flemish, so I will take him at his word that he has written against colonization of the Congo. This was in the part that I quoted from the Philosemitisme blog.

However, I stand behind the parts that I wrote.

Ducal says that he took his information about Israel from Ilan Pappe, the notoriously fraudulent "historian," Be that as it may, that does not excuse the form and words of his poems, which are by any sane definition antisemitic.

It is Ducal, not me, who takes the Holocaust and cheapens it in his attempt to tarnish today's Jews of Israel.

The poems I quoted were not obviously equating today's Israeli Jews with Nazis (except for the first "After Auschwitz" poem which is a Biblical quote, implying that Israel's justification for ethnic cleansing is Biblical, and the title is meant to be an ironic counterpoint to the Holocaust.)

Here are two of the other "After Auschwitz" poems:

AFTER AUSCHWITZ 1
When I heard that the house I called mine
was stolen, I asked the authorities who
the owner was. They said: “Your head is full of ash,
you’re still weak, you know nothing of the fight.”

When I heard that the owner was alive
and carried the key in his pocket, I sent
the locksmith away. He went to the authorities.
Then the locks were changed.

On memorial days, called to remembrance
my fellow downtrodden roamed in my head.
Beneath the ash, the issue smoldered, unsaid.
But the owner never came. It slowly went dead.

AFTER AUSCHWITZ 2

Even Auschwitz was nothing special, of course.
Many survivors came to this place,
a little despised but usable, and
received a monument to retrieve

from history the transportation to the camps
and to form the grindstone of a nation.
It was the horror of all ages, of course,
but as such became exclusive, ownership

of pain transformed into ownership of land.
Who lived in this street, in this house?
Who drew water from this well?
Who sold his goods at this market?

Who, about Auschwitz, could have any doubt?

To compare Jews in Israel to Nazis is antisemitic, period.

To misrepresent the idea of "Chosen People" as if Jews torment others using that as an excuse, is antisemitic.

To misrepresent Jewish scriptures as if it is used as justification for a fictional ethnic cleansing today is antisemitic.

This is exactly what Ducal does, in the most disgusting and sickening way.

Ducal is worse than Ilan Pappe. Pappe only lies; Ducal turns slander against Jews into art.

I am quite sensitive to the differences between anti-Zionism and antisemitism. This poetry isn't a dispassionate criticism of Israel - it is criticism of Israel whose entire power rests on attacking Jews, attacking Jewish symbols and making obscene comparisons to Jewish suffering.  Ducal is claiming that Jews are using both the Holocaust and the Torah to justify the crimes that he reads in Pappe's novels and he sneeringly mentions "chosenness" and "Auschwitz" and Jewish suffering throughout the ages in order to evoke the exact same trite and perverted moral equation that other Jew-haters use: "Jews are doing to Arabs what Nazis did to Jews."

That is antisemitism.

I think that it is reasonable to call someone who writes such nauseating anti-Jewish propaganda an antisemite, despite his statements of sympathy for dead and suffering Jews of the Holocaust. It is easy to feel sorry for the dead and the survivors - Ducal seems to want credit for that. He claims that his writing of a poem (that I have not read) sympathetic to  Holocaust victims should inoculate him from accusations of antisemitism. What he doesn't get - or he is purposefully ignoring - is that his poems that equate the Holocaust with the events of 1948 means he doesn't know the first thing about the Holocaust and he is equally ignorant about the "Nakba."

Denying the Jewish people the right of self determination is also antisemitic. And so is misrepresenting Israel's history by claiming that Jews used the Holocaust to become "exclusive owners" of Israel. The number of lies and misrepresentations in these poems is huge, and all of them - by sheer coincidence, I suppose - make Jews look like hypocrites and monsters. Imagine that.

These poems of his should be exposed. If he is fine with what they say, well, all I'm doing is giving people the opportunity to read them for themselves and make their own decisions.

I believe that the antisemitism is clear and I have no problem saying so.

From Philosémitisme Blog, translated by Antisemitism in Europe:

Charles Ducal is Belgium's new 'national poet'. In this position, he will be expected to write poems which concern Belgium. Which might be new to him. Ducal has not written one poem on the atrocities committed by Belgians in their former colonies. However, he had time to dwell on the crimes of the Jews.*

Together with Lucas Catherine, Ducal co-authored "Gaza - The History of the Palestinian tragedy". The book includes his poetry titled "After Auschwitz", a group of poems with names like "Tel Aviv 1948–2008", "Nakba" and "A Poet in Sderot". Lest you think he might actually be sympathizing with the Jews who are constantly being bombed by their Gazan neighbors, rest assured: the song has a little note that Sderot was "formerly Najd", and is all about how 'we' kicked out the rightful owners.

The poems do not mention Jews, Israel, Nazis or Holocaust, and yet they're full of accusations against the Jewish people.
His poems are reprehensible, and (like the antisemitic play Seven Jewish Children) they are written from a grotesque caricature of a "Jewish" point of view - how a twisted Jew-hater imagines that Jews think. So while the themes are the same lies that we are used to hearing from antisemites (Jews are bloodthirsty killers who use the Holocaust as an excuse to act as monsters, Jews are quite happy making Arabs suffer, Jews use the Torah to justify massacres and ethnic cleansing) - the faux first person perspective makes the poems that much more powerful, and that much more disgusting.

Here are some of them.

AFTER AUSCHWITZ
for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand;
and thou shalt drive them out before thee.

(Exodus 23:31)

THE WALL

One does not scrawl fate in the wind.
We seek sanctuary behind
the wall, full of words on our side,
stamped with the holy number, this

stubborn plurality of a faith, in search of a voice
that can unite us in a common song,
a hymn and history to which we belong,
from the ashes of a tongue we rejoice.

The other side of the wall is ours too,
though scarred by signs of enmity.
We simply wipe it clean, unread.
Those who find a hole are blown back

into the void.

LET US TALK
First, we will bury you in the sand,
with your head free to speak
about mutual understanding, about peace;

first, we will make your field our own,
station soldiers between mine and thine,
direct the camera from our side;

first, we will count our dead
from the past two thousand years
and justify the beating,

and wipe the spit from our hands
and declare – it's clear as day;
you want no peace in this land.

Most readers of poetry don't have the same filters they might have when reading or watching the news. Poems need to be interpreted and understood, and that extra effort makes it easier for the reader to trust that the poet - whom he learns to respect during the interpretation process - is being truthful.

Very few casual poetry readers would be able to distance themselves from these works enough to realize how bigoted it is for a man to put himself in the minds of people he hates and relay their supposedly disgusting thoughts. Ducal is an antisemite, and these works prove that beyond a doubt. Saying that Jews are religious fundamentalists who enjoy acting like Nazis is no less offensive and no less a lie when it is written as poetry.

Like fiction and film, poetry can be a powerful tool for brainwashing, and that is Ducal's goal in these examples. Belgium should withdraw this honor; Ducal should be shamed, not feted.

UPDATE:

Ducal, or his lawyer, wrote me a letter. A followup post on January 27. Link when it is available.

According to this article, a new film being produced in Syria will center on the Jewish community of Damascus between 1850 and 1860. It appears to be an episode in a historic TV series called "Concierge of the Wind."

In the film, the chief rabbi of Damascus, a fictional character named Rabbi Bashi "Badran Farhi," wants to move the community to Palestine but the community leader named Yusuf Copper is against it, and denies that Israel is the Promised Land. So the rabbi kills a few Jews and starts rumors to incite the Muslims against the Jews.

The director says that he was looking to dramatize the roots of the conflict in the region.

The setting for the movie is interesting, as in 1840 there was a famous blood libel against the Jews of Damascus, and in 1860 Jews were falsely accused of participating with Muslims in the massacre of Christians, and 200 Jews were almost executed but were saved by outside intervention.

The episode is apparently meant to set the stage for the story of the 1860 massacre, perhaps by saying that the Jews were responsible, not Muslims.

Here are some of the antisemitic articles in Arab media today. And when I say "today" I mean that literally - not the past month or the past week, but all published within the past day.

JordanZad has an op-ed that asserts that how Israel treats Palestinian Arabs is a thousand times worse than any persecution Jews or anyone else has ever suffered. Hitler, you see, allowed some Jews to live, but Israel's assault is against the entire Palestinian people, which have somehow grown by a factor of twelve since Israel was reborn. The article also talks about how Judaism is corrupt, the Torah is a fabrication, and Jews use the Holocaust as an excuse to perform genocide themselves.

Al Muslim admits that Syria has killed more  Arabs than Israel has, but it still insists that "The record of the Jews is black and full of massacres and crimes against the Palestinians through history by committing crimes which the world had never seen or heard of in history ideals; the crimes of the Jews is a history stained with the blood of the Palestinians."

Al Ankabout has a fairly long and generic article describing how the Illuminati control the world, but of course the Jewish angle is not ignored. \

An article accuses the Muslim Brotherhood of being close to the Jews, adapting the idea of being "God's chosen people." Former Dubai police chief Dahi Khalfan also tweeted how close the Muslim Brotherhood is to the Jews, based on that diplomatic letter Morsi wrote to Shimon Peres last year.

Hezbollah's Al Manar claims that the constitutions of all Arab Spring countries, like Egypt, Tunisia and Iraq, as well as Afghanistan, is being written by the Mossad through an American jewish lawyer, Noah Feldman. (Feldman was part of a team that drafted Iraq's constitution; the rest of the claims seem to be made up.) The article makes a big deal over Feldman's Jewishness, noting that he went to the Maimonides school in Boston before marrying a Christian. Feldman, by the way, seems to be an Islamophile and has written that Sharia-based laws aren't really so bad.
