Seen on Twitter, from a Facebook posting:
This is in response to the bombing that killed 16 on Tuesday morning.

Think about this for a second: Someone in Mansour went to a print shop and paid to create a large anti-semitic banner (or the print-shop owner did it himself.). It then took considerable effort to hang the sign in a public street. It was that important for someone or some group to put out a public antisemitic message in Egypt.

Jews are always the scapegoats. Although in modern times it is more fashionable to use the Jewish state to fill that role.

A student leader in Egypt, Mohammed Jamal Kaht, has called for the Protocols of the Elders of Zion to be part of the official Egyptian high school curriculum. He also called for very Egyptian household to obtain a copy of the famous antisemitic work.

Why?

To realize the danger around us. Many are not aware that for mob rule over us is what is sought by our enemies and their dream is for our countries to fall, one behind the other, for their chance to destroy it, and plunder their wealth.

Do not think that Jews are only those who live in Palestine, but they are merely an interface for the groups whose secret aim is to control the world.

On May 20, 1920, the newspaper Times of London published an article on "The danger of the Jews", and the writer demanded every British citizen get a copy of the minutes of the meetings of the Jews called Protocols of the Elders of Zion, to realize the extent of the danger of Jews to Britain, and then decide - Is it possible to trust them?

Egypt is targeted with a new plot to overthrow it, and the deviant group and their agents in the region are being helped by young people who have never read the Protocols of Zion.
Just some more unchallenged Jew-hatred in the mainstream Egyptian media. Nothing to see here.

Egypt's popular daily, Al-Ahram, has an article about Vladimir Putin's recent release of former Russian billionaire Mikhail Khodorkovsky from prison.

While most news sources say that the release was a PR move ahead of the Russia-hosted Winter Olympics for a prisoner that Amnesty called a "prisoner of conscience," Al-Ahram knows better.

We should briefly point out that Mikhail Khodorkovsky is a Jewish billionaire whose ascent to the summit of world's richest people in the Forbes list came from benefiting from infamous and controversial privatization decisions, the outcome of which concentrated the fortunes of Russia's oil and gas and metals to a handful of entrepreneurs, Jews for the most part.
Khodorkovsky's father is Jewish but his mother is not.

The only sites I've seen emphasize the supposed Jewish control of Russia's energy are the usual antisemitic sites like Rense - and Al Ahram.

Whenever a Jew makes news for his or her anti-Zionist or antisemitic beliefs, the Arab media happily publishes it.

In only the last day:

There have also been recent favorable mentions of Max Blumenthal's latest anti-Israel screed.

I'm sure that all these Jews are very proud that their hate finds a willing audience and venues in the antisemitic Arab media.

Hey. he's a "doctor" - he must be smart!
The head of Egypt's Liberal Party, Dr. Medhat Najib, is upset at Time magazine.

Time had a reader poll for "person of the year." Egyptians stuffed the ballot boxes to vote for Gen. Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, and he won. Popular pro-Sisi Egyptian newspapers ran daily stories urging readers to vote.

Time doesn't choose the person of the year based on votes, though. Its editors choose who will be named the biggest newsmaker.

Yesterday, Time revealed its Top Ten list of candidates for Person of the Year - and Sisi is not on the list.

Najib is furious, saying that time violated all professional rules by not including Sisi. Moreover, he says, Time is owned by a Jew (I couldn't figure out the name, something like Jules Meyer - of course, Time is a publicly traded company and has no single "owner").

He said that Time's snub "reveals the dirty war waged by the Western media against Egypt... This is not new for the Western media, which is controlled by Jews and Zionists, to stand against al-Sisi."

The Forward mentions a fascinating study:
Over the course of a decade, the letters poured into the Central Council of Jews in Germany like a river.

“Is it possible that the excessive violence in Israel, including the murder of innocent children, corresponds to the long tradition of your people?” asked one.
“For the last two thousand years, you have been robbing land and killing people!” exclaimed another.

“You Israelis are a crowd showing contempt for humanity,” charged another, though its writer was addressing fellow Germans. “You drop cluster bombs above inhabited territory during the last days of war, and accuse people criticizing such actions of anti-Semitism. That is typical of you Jews!”

Many would view the stream of vitriol, sent to German Jewry’s central communal organization between 2002 and 2012, as little more than raw sewage. But Monika Schwarz-Friesel, a professor of linguistics at the Technical University of Berlin, saw it as raw data. Together with Jehuda Reinharz, the American historian and former president of Brandeis University, Schwarz-Friesel has recently published a study of these letters. And their findings reaffirm one of the enduring, if still surprising truths about anti-Semitism in Germany and elsewhere.

More than 60% of the hate mail came from well-educated Germans, including university professors, according to their study, “The Language of Hostility Towards Jews in the 21st Century,” released earlier this year. Only 3% came from right-wing extremists.

The researchers know this partly from analyzing the language of the letter writers — but also because many of the authors of the emails in their sample gave their names, addresses and professions. “We checked some of them, [and] the information [was] valid,” said Schwarz-Friesel in an email to the Forward. She and her research partner were amazed that the writers were so brazen. “I don’t think they would have identified themselves 20 or 30 years ago,” said Reinharz.

“We found that there is hardly any difference in the semantics of highly educated anti-Semites and vulgar extremists and neo-Nazis,” said Schwarz-Friezel. “The difference lies only in style and formal rhetoric, but the concepts are the same.”

This is not exactly new. Schwarz-Friesel pointed out that many Nazis were highly educated, too.

One of the research pair’s other main findings was that hatred for Israel has become the main vehicle for German anti-Semitism. More than 80% of the 14,000 emails focused on Israel as their central theme.

Schwarz-Friesel and Reinharz say they strove hard to distinguish emails that were critical of Israel — even those that expressed anger toward it — from those that were anti-Semitic.

“Only those letters were classified as anti-Semitic that clearly [saw] German Jews as non-Germans and collectively abused German Jews to be responsible for crimes in Israel!” she explained.

In the paper’s abstract, the researchers clarify further that “Verbal anti-Semitism is based on 1. Collective discrimination; 2. Fixation (by stereotypes) and 3. Devaluation of Jews.”

Schwarz-Friesel said she also considered as anti-Semitic letters that analogized Jewish or Israeli behavior to that of the Nazis.

As a linguist, Schwarz-Friesel sought to decode the classical anti-Semitism that was often hidden in the language of the emails. Schwarz-Friesel says her skills enable her to identify anti-Semitic intent that’s often deliberately obscured. She cites a letter from a professor that opens this way: “You people have a history of 2,000 years…” The letter then goes on to criticize Israel. In this way, according to Schwarz-Friesel, the writer brands Jews as historically evil.

Yehuda Bauer, professor of Holocaust studies at Hebrew University and academic advisor to Yad Vashem, praised the study’s methodology as unique. “Such an in-depth research based on language analyzing has not existed yet,” he said.

The anti-Israel crowd never tires of claiming that they are not antisemitic. However, this study indicates that antisemitism is the driving force behind anti-Zionism, not the other way around.

Educated people do not as often generalize anti-Muslim feelings from the acts of a few - they bend over backwards to avoid "Islamophobia." Yet here we see that university educated Germans will use Israel as their excuse to demonize Jews, and to take the trouble to write specifically to the Central Council of Jews and not a German Zionist organization to spout their hate.

The idea of analyzing antisemitism in this way is brilliant. No doubt the ADL and other Jewish organizations in the US and elsewhere get lots of hate mail, I hope they are saving it for similar analysis.

A year ago, David Brooks of the New York Times gave out the "Sidney Awards" for best magazine articles of the year. Here is how he described the first winner:

At the start of the 1980s, about 5 percent of Harvard students were Asian-American. But the number of qualified Asian-American applicants rose so that by 1993 roughly 20 percent of Harvard students had Asian heritage.

But, according to Ron Unz, a funny thing then happened. The number of qualified Asian-Americans continued to rise, but the number of Asian-Americans admitted to Harvard fell so that the student body was about 16 percent Asian. Between 1995 and 2011, Harvard’s Asian-American population has varied by less than a percentage point around that 16.5 percent average. Not only that, the percentage of Asian-Americans at other Ivy League schools has also settled at a remarkably stable 16 percent, year after year.

This smells like a quota system, or at least that was the implication left by Unz’s searing, sprawling, frustrating and highly debatable piece, “The Myth of the American Meritocracy,” in The American Conservative. It wins the first of the 2012 Sidney Awards, which go to the best magazine essays of the year.

You’re going to want to argue with Unz’s article all the way along, especially for its narrow, math-test-driven view of merit. But it’s potentially ground-shifting. Unz’s other big point is that Jews are vastly overrepresented at elite universities and that Jewish achievement has collapsed. In the 1970s, for example, 40 percent of top scorers in the Math Olympiad had Jewish names. Now 2.5 percent do. The fanatical generations of immigrant strivers have been replaced by a more comfortable generation of preprofessionals, he implies.
Unz' article was also noted and often praised by The Economist, Forbes, Time, The Daily Beast and others, but mostly for the part about Asians and not the part about Jews.

There are a couple of problems, though.

While Unz' main point about Asians seems to have merit, his methodology about Jews at Harvard is worthless.

Andrew Gelman, director of the Applied Statistics Center at Columbia University, demolishes Unz' piece based on the numbers. (Unz replied, but Gelman notes that he did not address the main points of the criticism.)

A recent, very thorough paper by Nurit Baytch goes into far more detail.

Because I like to try to explain complicated things, I'm going to briefly describe one of the major problems with Unz' analysis as shown by Baytch and Gelman.

When one looks further, one can see that this error and the others appear to have been conscious. In other words, Unz may have set out to find a way to make Jews look bad, and by George, he found it.

Unz' main argument about Jewish over-representation at Harvard is that Harvard is 25% Jewish, based on estimates provided by Harvard Hillel. He compares that to the number of Jews who may be considered good candidates for Harvard - specifically, people who were National Merit Scholarship semifinalists (NMS) and those in the US teams for the International Math Olympiad (top six students nationwide.)

According to Unz, the percentage of Jews in the NMS in recent years is only 6-7%. Similarly, he claims that the percentage of Jews in recent Math Olympiads is only 2.5%. Therefore, according to Unz, Jews are vastly overrepresented at Harvard (and other Ivy League schools) compared to their actual intellectual achievements. The losers, in Unz' opinion, are the Asians and - especially - white non-Jews.

As mentioned, Unz' used statistics from Hillel to determine the number of Jews at Harvard. It is not known exactly how Hillel came up with those numbers.

But his method of calculating the number of Jews in NMS semifinals used something called Weyl Analysis. Very briefly, this method look at known Jewish surnames (Goldberg, Cohen, and so forth) as a percentage of a known Jewish population - for our purposes let's pretend that 50% of Jews have clearly Jewish surnames. Then, by counting the number of Jewish surnames in an unknown group and multiplying by the same factor (2 in this case), you can determine the number of Jews in the group altogether.

A good statistician would use the same methodology to create two separate estimates of two different groups, in this case Harvard undergrads and NMS semifinalists. But Unz uses the Hillel numbers for Harvard, and the Weyl analysis for the NMS semifinalists.  (He appears to have used his own subjective guesses of what names are Jewish sounding for the Math Olympiad and other groups.)  If there is a fundamental flaw in either Weyl or Hillel's estimate, the results are meaningless.

Indeed, they are.

Using Unz' methods reproduced by Baytch (as best as could be determined), Weyl analysis shows that Harvard undergrads in 2008 were only 7-9% Jewish, not 25%. This is quite in line with the Weyl analysis on NMS semifinalists.

Weyl analysis is clearly underestimating the number of Jews today, and Unz apparently jiggered the numbers to overrepresent the number of Jews in the past to bolster his thesis. (Baytch shows that there were more Jews in NMS and the Math Olympiad dataset than Unz' Weyl analysis showed, and at Harvard the number of Jews in reality is probably more than 7-9% but much less than 25%. For today's Harvard undergraduates, the number calculated through Weyl analysis is even lower.)

Again, there are many other statistical problems with Unz' article, and Baytch's paper goes into far more detail.

But the major problems with Unz' article in The American Conservative (founded by Patrick Buchanan) go beyond the problematic statistics. They are found in his conclusions.

He writes a number of very curious paragraphs that the NYT and others seem to have overlooked. After he claims to have proven that Jews are vastly overrepresented at Harvard to the detriment of (mostly) white non-Jews, he writes:

It would be unreasonable to ignore the salient fact that this massive apparent bias in favor of far less-qualified Jewish applicants coincides with an equally massive ethnic skew at the topmost administrative ranks of the universities in question, a situation which once again exactly parallels Karabel’s account from the 1920s. Indeed, Karabel points out that by 1993 Harvard, Yale, and Princeton all had presidents of Jewish ancestry, and the same is true for the current presidents of Yale, Penn, Cornell, and possibly Columbia, as well as Princeton’s president throughout during the 1990s and Yale’s new incoming president, while all three of Harvard’s most recent presidents have either had Jewish origins or a Jewish spouse.

At most universities, a provost is the second-ranking official, being responsible for day-to-day academic operations. Although Princeton’s current president is not Jewish, all seven of the most recent Princeton provosts stretching back to 1977 have had such ancestry, with several of the other Ivies not being far behind.82 A similar degree of massive overrepresentation is found throughout the other top administrative ranks of the rest of the Ivy League, and across American leading educational institutions in general, and these are the institutions which select our future national elites.
...The overwhelming evidence is that the system currently employed by most of our leading universities admits applicants whose ability may be unremarkable but who are beneficiaries of underhanded manipulation and favoritism. Nations which put their future national leadership in the hands of such individuals are likely to encounter enormous economic and social problems, exactly the sort of problems which our own country seems to have increasingly experienced over the last couple of decades. And unless the absurdly skewed enrollments of our elite academic institutions are corrected, the composition of these feeder institutions will ensure that such national problems only continue to grow worse as time passes. We should therefore consider various means of correcting the severe flaws in our academic admissions system, which functions as the primary intake valve of our future national elites.
In other words, these manipulative Jews who run Ivy League schools are destroying America!

Many of the Jewish writers who focus on the history of elite university admissions, including Karabel, Steinberg, and Lemann, have critiqued and rebuked the America of the first half of the Twentieth Century for having been governed by a narrow WASP ascendency, which overwhelmingly dominated and controlled the commanding heights of business, finance, education, and politics; and some of their criticisms are not unreasonable. But we should bear in mind that this dominant group of White Anglo-Saxon Protestants—largely descended from among the earliest American settlers and which had gradually absorbed and assimilated substantial elements of Celtic, Dutch, German, and French background—was generally aligned in culture, religion, ideology, and ancestry with perhaps 60 percent of America’s total population at the time, and therefore hardly represented an alien presence. By contrast, a similarly overwhelming domination by a tiny segment of America’s current population, one which is completely misaligned in all these respects, seems far less inherently stable, especially when the institutional roots of such domination have continually increased despite the collapse of the supposedly meritocratic justification. This does not seem like a recipe for a healthy and successful society, nor one which will even long survive in anything like its current form.
Unz is saying that Jews are an alien presence in America, and their goals are not in alignment with what real Americans want!

How can you read this as anything but antisemitic? This is essentially a white supremacist argument that is disguised as scholarship.

There is more.

Ron Unz is president of the Unz Foundation, which gives quite a bit of money to causes he feels are worthwhile. Some of his recipients seem to fit a pattern.

For example, in 2009, 2010 and 2011 the foundation gave $108,000 to Paul Craig Roberts, a columnist who turned towards anti-semitism since 2006, according to the ADL.

$74,000 went to Philip Giraldi, a fellow American Conservative columnist who has written numerous articles about the pernicious Jewish Lobby.

Plus $75,000 to Holocaust minimizer/Hezbollah praiser/Israel hater Norman Finkelstein.

And $80,000 to the far left, antisemitic Counterpunch magazine.

And $60,000 to the virulently anti-Israel (and often antisemitic) Mondoweiss, where founder Philip Weiss lavishly praised Unz' article without mentioning his financial relationship with Unz!

Between Unz' own words and where he puts his money, it sure looks like his bogus statistics have an agenda behind them.

The Norwegian Union of Municipal and General Employees, which has 340,000 members, recently sent a group of delegates to the West Bank. The resulting article in their monthly magazine is filled with anti-Israel (and antisemitic) propaganda.

Miff.no, a pro-Israel Norwegian website, reports that the article accuses Israel of "genocide" and "ethnic cleansing"  against Palestinian Arabs, It notes that the Arab population in the area has increased by a factor of ten in the past 100 years, and compares that to Norway's population which has only doubled in the same time period. If the Palestinian Arabs have suffered "genocide" and "ethnic cleansing," as the union claims, then what do you call what happened to Norwegians?

The article shows this photo and caption:

"At the very holy Ibrahim Mosque in the town of Hebron in the West Bank, Israeli soldiers restrict access for Palestinians."

Nothing about how this was a holy Jewish site before Islam existed. Nothing about the Jewish forefathers and mothers buried there. It is a very holy mosque, and Jews are restricting access (I suppose keeping out people with guns is "restricting access.")

The article also says, as fact, "Israeli settlers are known to poison wells." Thus we see the medieval blood libel of Jews poisoning wells has become accepted as truth in the 21st century.

From the Antisemitism in Europe blog:
The Joods Actueel news site reports that in a speech given by Flemish Minister-President Kris Peeters, he indicated that the Flemish government opened the Kazerne Dossin museum, a Holocaust museum in Mechelen, as a favor for Israel.

Peeters spoke at an UNRWA conference: "Trauma and Transformation: the Role of UNRWA for Palestine Refugees" last October.

In his speech Peeters said as follows: "Since the Flemish government pays specific attention to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, we decided to support various projects and programs, of both Palestinians and Israelis.  That is why the Flemish government supported the opening of the Kazerne Dossin museum last year, and in the same way we provide 150,000 euros annually for the Palestinians."   [Last month the Flemish government decided to increase funding to the Palestinians to 250,000 euros.]

Members of the Forum of Jewish Organizations who were present during Peeters' speech said they were 'surprised' about the comparison.

Needless to say, the Holocaust museum is not a project Belgium undertook for Israel's benefit.  Belgium is not doing Israel a favor by teaching its own people about the genocide that took place in Belgium against Belgian citizens.  Does Peeters think he's doing Israel a a favor?  Does he think he's doing Belgian Jews a favor?
Interesting mindset, isn't it? Instead of saying "we fund the PA and we fight against delegitimization of Israel" or "we fund the PA and we fight against ethnic cleansing of Jews from Judea and Samaria," he says "we fund the PA but we aren't antisemitic - look, we also fund a Holocaust museum!"

It is worthwhile to mention that a recent European audit of funds to the PA showed that billions of euros disappeared due to PA corruption.

In a way, Peeters' absurd comparison does highlight a simple fact that everyone knows but few are willing to say out loud. The "Palestinian-Israeli" situation is not about land or justice or democracy or freedom. It is a small part of the decades-old Arab war against the Jews. What Peeters is subconsciously saying is that Belgium wants peace so it funds Arabs and it also funds their enemies the Jews, to have some moral authority over them so they avoid war. Funding the Arabs alone wouldn't be fair, but money to Israel might end up going to the army or Jewish communities in ancient Judea or something that would cause riots.

Giving it to the Jews outside Israel is the safest practice to appear even-handed.

Emirati News writes about a supposed investigation into Israeli schools and how they teach kids to kill Arabs as part of the curriculum.

According to this investigation, which seems to be based on a film, Israeli kids from the beginning are "taught the art of war, implanting feelings of nationalism and hatred of Arabs... they want you to bear grudges against the Arabs in order not to tremble your hands when you press the button on the drone .. "

The report goes on to say that for 12 years the focus of Israeli education is teaching war, so students will be ready to kill Arabs as soon as they reach adulthood.

The kids are also supposedly taught a that the Talmud teaches "whoever kills a Muslim or a Christian or pagan is rewarded with eternity in paradise and will dwell in the fourth Paradise. " (The Talmud says no such thing, and it pre-dates Islam.)

Jewish kids are also taught not to engage in dialogue with the other side, that the "rest of the world is antisemitic, the Italians helped the Nazis, the French are the Vichy regime, Turks are the perpetrators of crimes against Armenians and Kurds, ...Do not give us moral sermons, the Holocaust will not be repeated."

Arabs, the Jewish kids are taught, are "backward and decadent and do not understand the language of force."

The article also says "It is worth mentioning that it is forbidden to utter the word 'Arab' in the schools, instead replacing it with 'the demographic threat.'"

Well, there is brainwashing going on - and a great deal of psychological projection - but it isn't in Israeli schools.

UPDATE: The film this article is based on was called "Schools of Violence" and aired on Al Medayeen TV, a Hezbollah-affiliated channel.

The parts about the Israeli schools comes from a left-leaning Israeli satirical program, Eretz Nehederet, in a sketch where they made fun of he rightist Im Tirtzu organization. Here is the sketch with English subtitles:

Many Arab news outlets have been fooled by Onion-type articles and have reported them seriously. .But this was no mistake on Al Medayeen's part.  Here's their documentary. At 22:10 they take the opening of a Channel 2 newscast, and then they edit in the obviously satirical skit as if it is part of the news!

No, this is slander, made easier by Israeli humorists.

The accusations and counter-accusations Arabs hurl, accusing their opponents of being helped by Israel, gets old after a while. So sometimes they have to raise the stakes.

A nutty (and antisemitic) Iraqi pro-Shiite news site "Voice of Iraq"  has a new diatribe against  Sunni leaders. Excerpts:

Jewish rabbis are leading the jihad in Syria at the time of Arab decadence and cowardice, as Arabs have abandoned all titles of honor and dignity of the Arab and Islamic nation...they are handing their keys over free of charge to international Zionism. ... Events in Syria prove the Gulf Arab rush to compete for the satisfaction of their masters in the Israeli Knesset.

We hear from Netanyahu a call for a unification of the Arabs against Syria, Hezbollah and Iran to ignite a war that will burn the region and the world. Israel wants to sow discord and havoc in the region to fragment and weaken the Arabs. This is happening in Syria now with killing of sabotage and attacks.

There have been shuttle visits conducted by many of the political and military leaderships of the Gulf to Tel Aviv, especially after the heroic victories of the Syrian army against the armies of witches and sorcerers of mercenaries and after the breakthrough in the crisis with Syrian and Iranian détente with the United States.

Not only this, there is information that says a lot of the leaders of the so-called Syrian opposition and even Islamic ones go to Israel go kiss her to get all kinds of material and logistical support. Of course, all this support is conditional and under the control of the Mossad, who was recruited rabbis of the Israeli Knesset to issue fatwas to the chieftains of war and terrorism in the region and the world.

It is not strange to see and watch leaders of the Syrian rebels racing to gain a certificate of good conduct from Israel, but what is new is catching chieftains who claim to be advocates of the Islamic religion, but they are shown to be fornicators, not advocates. There are a lot of questions raised about the rush of these rebels and sheikhs towards Israel especially in recent times that made them a laughing stock among nations time.

Did not Saudi Arabia undertake with Al-Qaradawi and sheikhs not to allow what they call the Mujahideen in Syria to attack Israel? Did they not and cheer their mercenaries during the Israeli shelling of some military sites in Syria? Did not terrorist groups send their wounded to Israel and declare from inside the Israeli hospital that they do not hold any hostility to Israel? Didn't the ousted Egyptian President Mursi and the Brotherhood describe Peres as their great friend?
I shouldn't reveal that the Shiites are also under control of the rabbis, and we make them write stuff like this to keep them fighting each other. Oops.

I love when I get shout-outs from Islamic clerics.

From MEMRI:

In a Friday sermon delivered on November 1, 2013 in Kuwait, Sheik Abd Al-Muhsin Al-Mutairi decried the custom of Muslim youth to watch the World Cup or other entertainment shows on TV. "The Jews were successful in preoccupying the Muslim youth... with the most inane matters... in keeping with 'The Protocols of the Elders of Zion,' he said.

Following are excerpts from the sermon, which was broadcast on Kuwait TV:

Sheik Abd Al-Muhsin Al-Mutairi: Oh servants of Allah, how saddening and very painful it is to see many Muslim youths glued to TV screens at cafes or at home, passionately watching entertainment shows, like the Football World Cup, in despicable subjugation to the abominations of the other nations – as if we were not a nation with a brilliant history and a lofty civilization.

[...]

The Jews were successful in preoccupying the Muslim youth – except those protected by Allah – with the most inane matters, distracting them from important things, in keeping with what is written in The Protocols of the Elders of Zion: "In order to keep the masses in the dark, oblivious to what is being planned for them, we will exert efforts to distract their attention, by creating means of entertainment and diversion, amusing games, and all kinds of sports, as well as things that feed one's desires. Then, we will make the newspapers promote artistic and sports competitions."

The Jews, the Christians, and their hypocritical, mercenary lackeys have invested great efforts in cutting the nation off from its glorious history. They want Muslim youths to fumble about in the darkness of Western culture, which is promoted by the sinful media.

Thomas Friedman, in the New York Times, defends the Obama administration's offering concessions to Iran and has this to say about those who disagree:

Never have I seen Israel and America’s core Arab allies working more in concert to stymie a major foreign policy initiative of a sitting U.S. president, and never have I seen more lawmakers — Democrats and Republicans — more willing to take Israel’s side against their own president’s. I’m certain this comes less from any careful consideration of the facts and more from a growing tendency by many American lawmakers to do whatever the Israel lobby asks them to do in order to garner Jewish votes and campaign donations.
He's certain that members of Congress care little about Iran and are more loyal to the almighty Jewish dollar than to their own country.

Because how can any thinking person possibly believe that giving concessions to Iran is a bad deal? It must be the Jewish money that corrupts their mindset!

Of course, Friedman admits:
If you’re not skeptical about Iran, you’re not paying attention. Iran has lied and cheated its way to the precipice of building a bomb, and without tough economic sanctions — sanctions that President Obama engineered but which Netanyahu and the Arab states played a key role in driving — Iran would not be at the negotiating table. I also understand the specific concerns of the Gulf Arabs, which I’d summarize as: “It looks to us as if you want to do this deal and then get out of the region — and leave behind an Iran that will only become economically more powerful, at a time when it already has enormous malign influence in Syria, Iraq, in Lebanon through Hezbollah, and in Bahrain.”
But our greedy members of Congress aren't thinking that deeply. Only Friedman is, just enough to dismiss it:
I get it, but I also don’t think we’d just abandon them.
You see? Friedman doesn't think anything bad will happen, and by gosh, that's all anyone needs! On the basis of his wonderful track record, Congress should do what he says, not what logic dictates!

There is plenty more to criticize in this column - Friedman makes a bizarre comparison between negotiating with Iran and Israel building "more settlements." Really. He exaggerates the Israeli position in order to pompously dismiss it: "While, Netanyahu believes more sanctions will get Iran to surrender every piece of its nuclear technology, Iran experts say that is highly unlikely." However, Netanyahu never demanded that - no one ha a problem with a peaceful nuclear energy program. And there are plenty of other factoids that Friedman knows he can get away with, because New York Times op-ed fact checkers are not exactly known to care too much about facts.

The bottom line is, though, that Thomas Friedman is insulting hundreds of democratically elected members of Congress, essentially accusing them of disloyalty to their own country. While dismissing any real concerns about Iranian nuclear weapons and how they would affect the world.  All  in order to defend a single elected president's inconsistent and frightening Middle East policy.

And he does it using an antisemitic "Jews control America" canard.

Al Ahram is the most widely circulated newspaper in Egypt.

Here is the photo accompanying a story today about Jews, Freemasons, and the Protocols of the Elders of Zion:

Most of the article is the usual antisemitic stuff we're used to seeing, but it has some new twists.

Freemasonry started in Egypt in the late 18th century and, we are told, it is manipulated by Jews to create Israel and to ultimately build a new Temple. The Jews place Freemasons in major political roles to guide all nations towards their nefarious goals. The Jewish love of money also contributes to their decadence.

Freedom House, which promotes democracy worldwide, is really a Jewish Freemason organization that trains Egyptian youths in how to revolt. The Muslim Brotherhood is an arm of the Jewish Freemasons. Jewish billionaire George Soros is funding many of the activities to destroy the Arab world through revolutions.

The philosophy of the Freemasons comes, of course, from the Talmud.

One of the "experts" being interviewed is not certain that the Protocols are used by the Freemasons, and he says that some Freemasons might not be Zionist. But the professor of Hebrew literature at Ain Shams University says that the Jews are definitely the beneficiaries of the Masonic plots, though.

From AP:
A year after a bruising Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, southern Israel has sprung back to life, and the frequent rocket fire that once plagued the region has nearly stopped. But it's Hamas, not the Israelis who are celebrating.
Maybe because Israelis don't celebrate wars, including those they won, while the Arab honor/shame mentality forces them to celebrate wars that they lost?

By any objective measure Israel won the mini-war in Gaza last year. The point was to stop rocket fire and, for the most part, that goal was met. Gaza terrorists fired over 150 projectiles towards Israel in the last two weeks of October last year - and about 50 in 2013 altogether.

AP had a golden opportunity to explain Arab culture here, and dropped the ball.
Interior Minister Fathi Hamad, who commands Hamas' security forces in Gaza, called on Arabs in the Gaza Strip, West Bank and Israel to unite in a holy war to “uproot the Jews” from Israel.

“A third intifada is approaching,” he said, using the term for past Palestinian uprisings against Israel. “Liberation is coming and victory is coming.”
This quote is confirmed by Arab sources.

Apologists for Hamas, from "Students for Justice in Palestine" to Richard Falk to Jimmy Carter, never seem to find a way to condemn its explicit Jew-hatred.

This is an apparently authentic video showing a walkie-talkie conversation between fighters from al-Qaeda and the Free Syrian Army. Turn on closed captioning to see the translation:

ISIS talking: "You are (FSA) infidel, You're infidel"
ISIS: "You, Creature, you don't know Allah nor the Prophet and are corrupted person and we will kill and chop you"
ISIS [Describing how they would kill and chop FSA]
ISIS: "You claim to be a Muslim you are not a Muslim because you kill and rape women and men"
FSA: "If you think you are a man go fight Israel not us, why did you come to Syria"
ISIS: "You are apostate and fighting you (FSA) is a priority to us more than usual infidel"
ISIS: "You (Syrians) curse god and the prophet you are apostate infidel"
ISIS: "killing you apostates is a must and comes before killing Jews and Christians"
FSA: "Fuck you bastard and your masters in Qaeda"
FSA: "We're Jihadist against regime..." [cut..]
ISIS: "You're jihad (fighting) is in the sake of FSA, Syrian Coalition, Democracy and a Civil State??"
ISIS: "You deny Sharia and you're fighting us... we had better to kill you rather the original infidels."
FSA: "Bastard, pig, god damn you..." [Cursing Qaeda and its Leaders]
ISIS: "You, you who hear me, you know you're not Muslim you're infidel hate god and the prophet."
ISIS: "You're corrupted you don't pray and against Islam you're not Muslims"

Vetogate, an Egyptian news site, has an antisemitic screed that accuses Jews of a long history of thievery and crime - from gold in the time of the Pharaohs until today, when they are stealing, um, music.

The article by Mohammed Laithi says that Jews could never live with their non-Jewish neighbors. They lived separately in ghettos in Europe. The Haskalah movement, meant to integrate Jews in the countries they lived in, was a failure. The reason is, we are told, that it is forbidden for Jews to have any dealings with the gentiles.

On the other hand, we are also told that Jews have a love of money and would use usury and inflated prices to get rich at the expense of the neighbors who they had no contact with. They would even take over the economies of these countries from their ghettos, apparently, forcing their hosts to get rid of them.

Consistency is not a hallmark of antisemites.

Anyway, since Jews had failed to infiltrate these societies with haskalah, they then decided to steal Palestine, continuing on their love of stealing.

Laithi then detours back to Pharaonic times, noting that even then the Jews lived separately but that they stole jewels, gold and kitchen utensils from the Egyptians under the pretense that God wanted them to.

The Jews in Egypt only built mud storehouses in the cities of Pithom and Ramses, and had nothing to do with the Pyramids. Hardly proof of their technical superiority!

This wasn't the first time Jews stole from Egypt, obviously, since they stole the Sinai in 1967.

And now, after this litany of Jewish theft, we get to the latest outrage of Jews stealing from Egypt:

Their music!

Laithi links to 10 videos of Israeli artists singing Egyptian songs with Hebrew words. "If we assume that the Israelis are actually descendants of the sons of Israel, it is valid to say that they are addicted to stealing from the Egyptians."

This is not the first time that Arabs complained about Israel "stealing" their music (and cuisine, and clothing, and dances....) This video compares Arab tunes with the ones Israelis supposedly stole.

That specific charge, at least, appears to be true. In 2010 an Egyptian artist accused an Israeli of taking his tune, and the Israeli apologized and said he would be happy to give him credit. I don't know whether Israeli singers are generally open about taking tunes from Arab songs (UPDATE: Phil in the comments shows that they are.)

I somehow doubt that any Arab artist would sell the rights of a song to an Israeli Jew.

Even so, it is very funny that the punch line of a huge anti-Jewish article is the unauthorized taking of Arab music.

From AFP:
The Gaza Strip's Hamas government said on Tuesday it had added studies to encourage "resistance to Israel" to the territory's public schools curriculum.

Courses to "strengthen Palestinian rights, update programs and add studies on human rights" would be introduced at three levels in secondary schools, Education Minister Muetassem al-Minaui told Agence France Presse.

They were intended to instill "faith in the role of the resistance to win rights and to raise awareness of the importance of effective preparations to face the enemy," he said.

The new material, seen by AFP, tells of Israel's winter 2008-2009 and November 2012 military offensives into the Gaza Strip and shows photos of dead Palestinians and of buildings destroyed by Israeli strikes.

"All of Palestine from the (Mediterranean) sea to the river (Jordan) belongs to us, to us Muslims," it states, in accordance with the beliefs of the militant Islamic group, which refuses to recognize Israel.

The new courses will be taught only in education ministry schools and not those of the United Nations Relief and Works agency, in which close to half of the 463,000 pupils in the strip study, the agency's operations director Robert Turner told journalists on Tuesday.

At the start of this year, Hamas launched an experimental program of basic military training for about 10,000 high school students.
Besides the obvious (support for terror, denial of Jewish rights), this shows that Hamas never had any intention to provide Christians with equal rights under their political system. They are saying that "Palestine belongs to us Muslims" only. Christians are merely tolerated if they act like good little dhimmis and stay in their place.

Then again, anyone who ever read Hamas' charter knows that they are anti-Christian:
From time to time a clamoring is voiced, to hold an International Conference in search for a solution to the problem. ...The Islamic Resistance Movement...does not believe that those conferences are capable of responding to demands, or of restoring rights or doing justice to the oppressed. Those conferences are no more than a means to appoint the nonbelievers as arbitrators in the lands of Islam. Since when did the Unbelievers do justice to the Believers? “And the Jews will not be pleased with thee, nor will the Christians, till thou follow their creed. Say: Lo! the guidance of Allah [himself] is the Guidance. And if you should follow their desires after the knowledge which has come unto thee, then you would have from Allah no protecting friend nor helper.” Sura 2 (the Cow), verse 120. There is no solution to the Palestinian problem except by Jihad.

...Under the shadow of Islam it is possible for the members of the three religions: Islam, Christianity and Judaism to coexist in safety and security. Safety and security can only prevail under the shadow of Islam
.There are a few Christians left in Gaza. They have already been discriminated against, attacked, kidnapped, vandalized, and forced to convert. For some reason no one seems to spend too much time on the anti-Christian bigotry in Gaza.

And now that bigotry is being taught in schools.

The NYT reports:

When a class of Palestinian ninth graders in Gaza recently discussed the deadly 1929 riots over access to the Western Wall in Jerusalem, it was guided by a new textbook, introduced this fall by the Islamist Hamas movement.

Asked the lesson of the uprising, one of the 40 boys in class promptly answered, “Al Buraq Wall is an Islamic property,” using the Muslim name for the site, one of the holiest in Judaism. Pleased, the teacher then inquired whether the students would boycott Israeli products, as Arabs had boycotted Jewish businesses in 1929. A resounding chorus of “Yes!” came back from the class.

For the first time since taking control of the Gaza Strip in 2007, the Hamas movement is deviating from the approved Palestinian Authority curriculum, using the new texts as part of a broader push to infuse the next generation with its militant ideology.

Among other points, the books, used by 55,000 children in the eighth, ninth and 10th grades as part of a required “national education” course of study in government schools, do not recognize modern Israel, or even mention the Oslo Peace Accords the country signed with the Palestine Liberation Organization in the 1990s.

...What Gaza teenagers are reading in their 50-page hardcover texts this fall includes references to the Jewish Torah and Talmud as “fabricated,” and a description of Zionism as a racist movement whose goals include driving Arabs out of all of the area between the Nile in Africa and the Euphrates in Iraq, Syria and Turkey.

“Palestine,” in turn, is defined as a state for Muslims stretching from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. A list of Palestinian cities includes Haifa, Beersheba and Acre — all within Israel’s 1948 borders. And the books rebut Jewish historical claims to the territory by saying, “The Jews and the Zionist movement are not related to Israel, because the sons of Israel are a nation which had been annihilated.”
People are acting shocked. Jeffrey Goldberg tweeted "It seems as if Hamas's "anti-Zionism" is actually plain old anti-Semitism. Not that we didn't know that already." and "Children in Gaza are being taught that the Western Wall is Muslim and that the Torah is 'fabricated.'"

Yet the moderate, peace-loving PA has officially stated that the Western Wall is Islamic and has no holiness to Jews as well.

Official PA media  refers to Israeli cities as "Palestinian" all the time, as do PA textbooks.

And it isn't Hamas saying that the Torah is "fabricated" - it is a mainstream  Islamic opinion. That is how, for example, Islam can celebrate Abraham's sacrifice of Ishmael instead of Isaac - they claim, as doctrine, that the Torah text was corrupted. If Goldberg is honest, he would notice that Islam is antisemitic, not just Hamas.

So what's the difference between what Hamas is saying in textbooks now and what the PA and indeed all Muslim countries tell their people all the time?

It's easy to marginalize Hamas for its opinions of Jews and Israel, but when the PA's viewpoints are virtually identical, isn't that a bigger story?

Finally, the question I asked in May when I first reported this story - since UNRWA policy is to use the textbooks of its host country, will it start using Hamas textbooks in its schools? UNWRA schools in Gaza already teach jihad, so it is hardly a stretch.

Mark your calendars:
(Ahlul Bayt News Agency [Iran]) - Several Iranian NGOs staged a panel discussion on Tuesday to discuss the political and social status of the Zionist regime.

Titled 'End of Israel,' the conference also gave a touch to the faltering status of Israel amid the regional developments.

Iran-based Office in Support of Palestine and the House of Young Top Citizens will staged the panel discussion under the auspices of Tehran Municipality.

During the conference, director of the pro-Palestinian research center Neda, Ahmad Soroush-nejad believed that the Zionist-dwelled areas in the occupied Palestine are so small in area that they are within the range of the Palestinian resistance rockets, adding that the geographically small area are never safe.
So it is time for Israel to expand, say, from the Nile to the Euphrates. Thanks for the advice, Ahmad!
Next, a researcher in the Islamic Center I South Africa, Hojjat-ol-Islam Abdollah Husseini, expert maintained that the Holy Koran suggests that the regime would perish in 2022.
But how does the Koran explain that Muslims would be humiliated by the poor, weak, dhimmi Jews for  74 years between 1948 and 2022? Obviously it is Allah's will.
The participants also heard from an expert in Zionism affairs, Ali Akbar Raefipour and representative of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Naser Abu Sharif.
Hey, don't make fun - they're experts!
